Memory Leak? (Update)

Thanks for all the responses for this problem. Here is what I've come
up with so far. I believe I have found the culprit.
1) First, I used the LabVIEW VI profiler with memory tracking enabled.
This didn't show what VI was hogging the memory, so it didn't help. It
reported only 10M of memory was being used, when Windows NT reported
110M in use by LabVIEW.
2) VI references had been mentioned as the possible culprit if the
references had not been closed. I then opened a VI reference at the
beginning of the program, used these references throughout the loop, and
then closed them at the end of the loop. Result: still had a memory
leak.
3) After some troubleshooting, I started deleting some sub-VIs out of
my program to see when
the memory was freed. I thought I could isolate
which VI was hogging the memory. This seemed to have worked, because
I've done it twice, deleting different VIs up to a point, and when I
delete one of them out of the diagram, the memory is freed. This is
what I'll explain below.
Every iteration of the loop, the front panel is converted to a .png file
and saved to the drive for output across the network to any browser
which has connected. Using the LabVIEW/vi.lib/utility/printvi.llb/Get
Panel Image.VI, the front panel can be changed into a .png format. The
next step is where the problem lies. A Java applet is looking for a png
file to download to a browser when a request is made. Therefore, the
panel image which has just been made needs to be saved to a file. The
Graphics & Sound -> Graphics Formats -> Write PNG file.VI is used for
this. This is the VI which is causing the problem. Upon looking at the
VI, it just calls a CIN. Therefore, I'm not sure how to find out why it
is
hogging the memory. If I delete this VI, and I don't save the front
panel to a png file (but I do convert it to png format), I don't have
the memory leak.
Any ideas?

I wish I could update to LV 6i, but I can't now. I'm stuck with 5.1.1
for now. I don't know how I could "legally" get the .dll and png write
VI from 6.

  • Firefox has a memory leak and I need to update it, but I want to keep 3.5 because I don't like how the newest version of Firefox is set up.

    My computer is running low on RAM, and when I look at what processes are using the most memory, firefox is the number one using between 28,000 to 93,000k, so I'm guessing that it has a memory leak.
    And because of that memory leak I have to update firefox, however I really dislike the newest version of firefox and I'd prefer to stick with the version I have, which is 3.5.

    Often the memory problems are not just from Firefox in isolation, but partly relating to all the extensions available for it and then the videos and animations it runs on media rich sites.
    The first thing to do is to upgrade to firefox 3.6 which is at least a supported version (Maybe not for much longer)
    * see [[updating firefox]]
    Next version after 3.6 is 4, you should avoid that, it did have some memory problems, that were worse than 3,6 and firefox 4 is no longer secure or supported.
    The techies at Firefox have been working on memory problems recently and have made many improvements, but some of these improvements are only seen in the trial versions of Firefox.
    I would in fact suggest you upgrade to Firefox 5 the current release version (soon to be replaced with Firefox 6)
    I am able to run Firefox v3.6 to v8 on legacy XPs with less than 1GB RAM. Firefox in itself is not necessarily very demanding in terms of RAM. I am not sure what the figures are you are quoting, or whether they are high. ( Note 1Gb is in the order of 1 000 000 k )
    As for not liking the set-up of new versions of Firefox, there is quite abit that can be changed, maybe you would be able to configure it more to your liking with little effort.

  • Memory Leak with Tomcat version update 3.2 to 6.0

    Hi, I've been trying to update tomcat from 3.2 to 6.0. My issue is that I have a memory leak(s?) that make the web application unusable. Currently in my setup I am using these components:
    Tomcat 6.0, sun JDK 1.6.0_01, mssql 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver 1.2, xalan 2.7.0, log4j 1.0.4 (should be only out of date component)
    It is a fairly large application that uses xslt with xalan and java servlets to display web pages. There was no issue with memory leaks before the update from tomcat 3.2, sun jdk 1.4.2 and old xalan and jdbc (for mssql 2000) components.
    My question for the community is, where should I be looking for my memory leak. Are there known issues with my setup?
    thanks for your help,
    Matt

    Just in case someone goes down the same road as me, my problem was actually the one listed on the page below. My threads are not being released after a StandardContext reload. Which I'm not sure if this leak applies to tomcat version <4 or not.

  • New memory leak with CS4 update?

    I just downloaded the CS4 update last night, and was doing my normal photoshop work when I had to re-start the application due to what looks like a memory leak.
    Windows XP, 3GHZ dual core ( 45 nm one ), 4 GB RAM, NVidia 9600 GT, no GPU enabled ( still comes up with that error even with newest drivers ).
    128MB TIFF file was my source.
    I had 3 layers, then copy merged all to another layer so I could liquify.
    Liquify was getting REALLY sluggish when trying to zoom, but was usable.
    After 10 minutes here, I clicked "ok" to return the results, then it said there wasn't enough memory to do it. So I had to cancel. Process was using right around 2 GB. I saved my PSD file ( around 256 MB ) and closed it. CS4 was still using around 2 GB with no documents open. So I closed CS4 and I had multiple errors pop up saying couldn't export or copy from clipboard because not enough memory.
    Brought CS4 back up and loaded in that 256MB psd file, everything was fine.

    I've been told by support that I need to un-install CS4, and re-install it and the patch in order to rectify my problem. The cause of the problem they are saying is a failed application of the patch.
    Is this a bunch of BS to keep me busy for a while? How do I know that the next time everything will install correctly?
    This will take some time to do, and I'll have to figure out how to backup all my settings/scripts.

  • Word 2011 has memory leak after applying 10.8.1 update

    Word started crashing on me recently, it occurs every 8 to 10 minutes when i am working with a large documents.  I looked around at the forums and tried all the "Verify Disk Permissions", re-installing, removing normal.dot and word preferences and creating new users.  None of these work.  I opened Activity monitor and witnessed the memory grow rapidly without any activity in word (The larger the document, the quicker it would rise) from 0-1.5 Gb in around 10 minutes - High CPU is also presentduring this memory leak.  When the memory reaches the limit of the available system memory (usually around 1.6G), word crashes.
    I tested the same documents on a few other similar computers (macbook and another imac) they did not have the issue, memory remained steady for long periods of time.  I check the software versions of the computers and Word was all the same (14.2.3) however OS X was only 10.8 on the working computers where as the failing computer was 10.8.1.
    I confirmed the error by updating both of the other computers to 10.8.1, now all computers exhibit the memory leak.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Update Soundflower to the most recent version. You have an unsupported edition. http://code.google.com/p/soundflower/downloads/detail?name=Soundflower-1.6.6b.dm g&can=2&q=

  • Huge memory leak in java jvm after update 2 for Snow leopard

    Since I updated to Java Update 2 for Snow Leopard my JVM suddenly grows massive (10GB+ real memory - -Xmx=3500m) consuming all memory and rendering my iMac unusable. This does not happen predictably but does happen several times a day now requiring I power off and on again.
    I had been living happily with update 1 with no such problem.
    I need to either go back to update 1 (should have it on Time Machine) or find a solution for this problem.

    Our application is a j2ee-based commercial application facing to specified customers, having about 120 access request an hour.
    We ' re doing stress test on the test server. The strange memory leak occurs at 1:20 am this morning while we're out of company , and no job was scheduled to run at that time. So I have the tendency to image that there is something inside oc4j had occured.
    I have used OptimizeIt to monitor the heap status. However , as the memory leak problem occurs very occasionally ,and that tool deadly slows our server, we are currently using no profiling tools.

  • Since the itunes 10.4.1 update  I have memory leaks problems.

    Since the itunes 10.4.1 update  I have memory leaks problems, Itunes used memory start at about 100 megs as usual but when it play the ram usage climb about 4 kb per second ( one time I had itunes using 690 megs !). I had to periodically close and restart Itunes to clear the memory.
    Someone has suggestion to resolve this problem?

    Same issue, Running Windows 7 x64 with 6 Gigs of RAM and have iTunes 10.4.1 32bit version.
    I wanted to break in some headphones over the weekend, so left it playing a loop of songs. Came back on Monday to see my machine using a huge amount of RAM and iTunes just froze.
    Here is a shot of my Task Manager showing iTunes was using 1.5gigs of Memory.

  • Memory Leak during EAR stop/update/start

    Hi all,
    Excuse me if I'm putting this question in the wrong forum - not sure if it should be here or "EJB". That being said - I am working on a project which is using Weblogic 11g and we have a set of EARs with EJBs deployed out. In one EJB we have a static variable which holds onto an object which is rather large (~2 Gigs).
    What I've noticed is that if I stop the EAR containing that EJB, update and restart it without restarting the server it's running on, the memory of that object does not seem to get GC'd. So basically, every time we make changes to that EAR and want to deploy we end up eating up a lot of memory.
    Our current way to fix this is to add a @pre-destroy method which basically does a "largeObject = null". This seems to allow it to be marked and collected by the Garbage Collector. However, I don't think this is the best solution for all static objects (what happens if we have an a bunch of EJBs in the pool and the AppContainer destroys one - all static references will get removed right?).
    Is there a reason that the AppContainer is holding on to those static references? Or am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    -Ritter

    An object referenced by a static member variable is strongly referenced until the class is unloaded. A normal classloader
    never unloads a class, but on an application server, such as WebLogic, this sometimes happens under the right conditions.
    A class in Java can be garbage-collected when nothing references it. In most simple setups this never happens, but there are situations where it can occur.
    There are many ways to make a class reachable and thus prevent it from being eligible for GC:
    - objects of that class are still reachable.
    - the Class object representing the class is still reachable
    - the ClassLoader that loaded the class is still reachable
    - other classes loaded by the ClassLoader are still reachable
    When none of those are true, then the ClassLoader together with all classes it loaded are eligible for GC.
    The best way to proceed is not to use global variables (which is asking for tricky memory leaks), especially ones that are 2G.

  • Memory Leak - select for update

    Hi All.
    Doing an application using OCI 8.1.7 I faced with a memory leak. (or it seems to). The leak is caused by OCIStmtExecute with SELECT FOR UPDATE statement when the iters parameter of that function is 0. In all other cases it works Ok. Below you can find a code causes a leak:
    const char* sqlStatement = "select integercol from test_types for update";
    OCIStmt* ociStatementHandle = 0;
    OCIHandleAlloc(ociEnvHandle,(dvoid **)&ociStatementHandle,
    OCI_HTYPE_STMT, (size_t) 0, (dvoid **) 0));
    OCIStmtPrepare(ociStatementHandle, ociErrorHandle,
    (text*)sqlStatement, strlen(sqlStatement), OCI_NTV_SYNTAX, OCI_DEFAULT));
    int int_test;
    OCIDefine* ociDefineHandle = 0;
    OCIDefineByPos(ociStatementHandle, &ociDefineHandle, ociErrorHandle,
    1, (dvoid *)&int_test, (sword) sizeof(int), SQLT_INT, (dvoid *) 0, (ub2 *)0,
    (ub2 *)0, OCI_DEFAULT));
    ub4 iters = 0; // (0 causes a leak)
    for( int i=0; i < 100000; i++ )
    OCIStmtExecute(ociServiceHandle, ociStatementHandle, ociErrorHandle, iters, (ub4) 0, (CONST OCISnapshot *) NULL, (OCISnapshot *) NULL, OCI_DEFAULT));
    If I change iter to 1 the leak disappears, but it is not suitable of course. Oracle documentation says following:
    iters (IN)
    For non-SELECT statements, the number of times this statement is executed is equal to iters - rowoff.
    For SELECT statements, if iters is non-zero, then defines must have been done for the statement handle. The execution fetches iters rows into these predefined buffers and prefetches more rows depending upon the prefetch row count. If you do not know how many rows the SELECT statement will retrieve, set iters to zero.
    This function returns an error if iters=0 for non-SELECT statements.
    Did somebody face the problem? Do you know how to fix it?

    Yes, the leak appeares ONLY for 'select ... for update' statements.

  • Memory Leaks   Unresponsive Mouse

    2009 8 core Mac Pro w/ 24 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon 4870, and a SeriTek PCIe eSATA card (card only has drives connected when running a manual drive clone).  When running Toast 10 or Parallels 9, my RAM will fill up (I use a program called Menu Meters to monitor stuff).  This machine worked just fine under OS 10.9 and earlier - no issues like this at all.  ClamXAV will also completely fill the RAM up (the meter will be full green, instead of part green, then mostly grey when Toast or Parallels fills it up).  I have to use Terminal to purge it so that the machine is usable.
    The other thing that happens is that sometimes when the computer wakes up or I am in the middle of doing something, the mouse will still move, but the dock will not pop open and the left button the mouse doesn't respond.  The right button will open the right click menu, but will not respond normally at all.  I have tried a different Magic Mouse, but the problem is the same.
    I thought that it may be a problem with the factory RAM and the Kingston RAM not playing nicely together.  So I ran it with just the factory 8 GB and then ran it with the Kingston 16 GB - the problem persists no matter which RAM is installed.  All of the RAM also passes the memory tests in Rember and TechTool.
    So, I need to find out if someone thinks that maybe the bluetooth module may be going bad causing the mouse issues.  I also need to find out what is causing the memory leaks.  I followed the steps that someone gave on this site to boot into safe mode, repair permissions, reset PRAM, then reset SMC (or the other way around - I did it like they said to).  It did nothing to fix the problem.
    I need some guidance here.  As I stated early on, the machine worked perfectly with OS 10.9.  I have WAY too much software that I use, so doing a completely fresh install is out of the question - I don't have time to reload everything.  This problem is annoying and I know that I am not the only one having these issues.  Any input will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Here is the EtreCheck report:
    Problem description:
    Memory leaks when using Toast 10 or Parallels 9.  Mouse also become unresponsive (it will move, but left button does not work and dock will not pop open - mouse problem happens independent of the RAM being filled up - different mouse was tried with same result).

  • How do I report a major memory leak problem with Firefox 3.6.10 in WinXP?

    After I installed Firefox 3.6.9 on a WinXP desktop, I occasionally had minor memory leak problems, reflected by getting "out of virtual memory" messages. I upgraded to 3.6.10 when notified that it was available and that it supposedly fixed stability problems. Ever since then, whenever I use Firefox, it starts out quick as a flash, but very rapidly slows down to a crawl, and has twice brought my system to a halt. IE does not cause this, nor any other program I use, but the execution speed of all programs slows as badly as Firefox. If I knew where to get older versions, I would back up to 3.6.9 or earlier. The situation now prevents me from using Firefox much at all.

    Im running windows 7, Firefox 3.6.10 and before i updated to 3.6.10 my CPU never went above 10% with Firefox open. Now it can spike well above 50% and i have nothing different from when i had 3.6.9 to now when i have 3.6.10.
    There is no evidence for me to suggest one of the additions i have is causing it, its all pointing to Firefox itself and the last update.

  • Pro*c multithreaded application has memory leak

    Hi there,
    I posted this message a week ago in OCI section, nobody answer me.
    I am really curious if my application has a bug or the pro*c has a bug.
    Anyone can compile the sample code and test it easily.
    I made multithreaded application which queries dynamic SQL, it works.
    But the memory leaks when i query the SQL statement.
    The more memory leaks, the more i query the SQL statement, even same SQL
    statement.
    I check it with top, shell command.
    My machine is SUN E450, Solaris 8. Oracle 9.2.0.1
    Compiler : gcc (GCC) 3.2.2
    I changed source code which is from
    $(ORACLE_HOME)/precomp/demo/proc/sample10.pc
    the sample10 doesn't need to be multithreaded. But i think it has to work
    correctly if i changed it to multithreaded application.
    the make file and source code will be placed below.
    I have to figure out the problem.
    Please help
    Thanks in advance,
    the make file is below

    Sample Program 10: Dynamic SQL Method 4
    This program connects you to ORACLE using your username and
    password, then prompts you for a SQL statement. You can enter
    any legal SQL statement. Use regular SQL syntax, not embedded SQL.
    Your statement will be processed. If it is a query, the rows
    fetched are displayed.
    You can enter multi-line statements. The limit is 1023 characters.

    sqlprc() is used to extract precision and scale
    from the length (select_dp->L).
    sqlnul() is used to reset the high-order bit of
    the datatype and to check whether the column
    is NOT NULL.
    CHAR datatypes have length, but zero precision and
    scale. The length is defined at CREATE time.
    NUMBER datatypes have precision and scale only if
    defined at CREATE time. If the column
    definition was just NUMBER, the precision
    and scale are zero, and you must allocate
    the required maximum length.
    DATE datatypes return a length of 7 if the default
    format is used. This should be increased to
    9 to store the actual date character string.
    If you use the TO_CHAR function, the maximum
    length could be 75, but will probably be less
    (you can see the effects of this in SQL*Plus).
    ROWID datatype always returns a fixed length of 18 if
    coerced to CHAR.
    LONG and
    LONG RAW datatypes return a length of 0 (zero),
    so you need to set a maximum. In this example,
    it is 240 characters.

    Hi Jane,
    What version of Berkeley DB XML are you using?
    What is your operating system and your hardware platform?
    For how long have been the application running?
    What is your current container size?
    What's set for EnvironmentConfig.setThreaded?
    Do you know if containers have previously not been closed correctly?
    Can you please post the entire error output?
    What's the JDK version, 1.4 or 1.5?
    Thanks,

  • How to configure license file for Memory Leak tool and WL Server 9.2?

    (I posted to general JRockit forum before realizing existence of this forum which is probably more applicable.)
    Here's our problem:
    Running latest version of WL 9.2 MP3 and JRockit Mission Control 3.0.1
    Able to run Mission Control, and connect to the WL Server and to run View Console with no problems.
    I can't get Memory Leak tool to run because it complains about needing a license file.
    First I tried with off the shelf WL 9.2 MP3.
    Get error:
    A license for Memory Leak Detector could not be found on the JRockit at (1.5) weblogic.Server (192).
    Error: Can not find component Memory Leak Detector for JRockit * in the license file. Please check http://www.jrockit.com/license for license updates.
    So I downloaded license file from JRockit download site - wls92.zip. It contains several files, but no clear instructions on what to do with these files. I copied one of these files "LIC-WLSP92.txt" to my JRockit home as C:\bea\JROCKI~1\jre\license.bea
    Tried again. Restarted WL server. Restarted JRockit Mission Control.
    Get error: A license for Memory Leak Detector could not be found on the JRockit at (1.5) weblogic.Server (3052).
    The license file does not exist at: C:\bea\JROCKI~1\jre\license.bea
    Any advise on how to install license or who to contact for help?

    Installed Mission Control 3.0.3.
    Got following message when I attempted to run Memory Leak:
    A license for Memory Leak Detector could not be found on the JRockit at (1.5) weblogic.Server (192).
    Error: Can not find component Memory Leak Detector for JRockit * in the license file.
    Please check http://www.jrockit.com/license for license updates.
    I believe that we're using the latest downloads of WebLogic 9.2.x and JRockit.
    WebLogic is running using 9.2.3 and JRockit build R27.4.0-90_CR358515-94243-1.5.0_12-20080118-1154-windows-ia2
    Contents of C:\bea\jrockit_150_12\jre\license.bea:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <bea-licenses>
    <license-group format="1.0" product="JRockit" release="*">
    </license-group>
    </bea-licenses>
    Could WebLogic be misconfigured?
    Any diagnostics to help figure out the licensing?
    Any other ideas?

  • HTTPService + XML Load + Memory Leak

    Hi all....
    I have noticed a memory leak in my application. This leak was
    not apparent when the application was completed some months back
    which is what left me a little confused as all I have done since
    was upgrade to Flex 3 and possibly updated / changed my Flash
    player.
    I think I have found the cause to this problem (below) but am
    not 100% sure that it is the "actual" problem or any reasons to
    back my thoughts up, so have listed what I have checked / tried
    along the way (maybe I have missed something)....
    My Discovery Process:
    I started profiling my application but did not find anything
    out of the ordinary. I did a code walk-through double checking I
    had cleaned up after myself, removing and even nulling all items
    etc but still to now success - the leak is still there.
    I have profiled the app in the profiler for reasonably long
    periods of time.
    All the classes etc being used within the app are consistent
    in size and instance amount and there is no sign of any apparent
    leak.
    I am using a HTTPService that is loading XML data which I am
    refreshing every 5 seconds. On this 5 second data refresh some
    class instances are incremented but are restored to the expected
    amount after a GC has occurred. The GC seems to take longer, the
    longer the app is running, therefore more and more instances are
    being added to the app, but when the GC eventually runs it "seems"
    to clear these instances to the expected amount.
    After scratching my head for a while I decided to make a copy
    of my application, rip everything out, and focus in my data load,
    where I found a problem!
    I have now just a HTTPService that loads an XML file every 5
    seconds, and this is all I currently have in the app (as I ripped
    the rest of the code out), e.g:
    Code:
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="
    http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
    ....... creationComplete="initApp()" >
    <mx:HTTPService
    id="httpServiceResults"
    url="
    http://myIP:myPort/myRoot/myXML.cfm"
    resultFormat="e4x"
    result="httpResultHandler(event)" />
    <script....... >
    private var timerPulse:Timer;
    private function initApp():void
    httpServiceResults.send();
    timerPulse = new Timer(5000, 0);
    private function httpResultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void
    timerPulse.start();
    timerPulse.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, timerRefresh);
    public function timerRefresh(eventObj:TimerEvent):void
    timerPulse.stop();
    timerPulse.removeEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,
    timerRefresh);
    timerPulse.reset();
    httpServiceResults.send();
    </script>
    </mx:Application>
    This is pretty much the code I am currently using and it
    leaks.
    I ran and monitored this in both the profiler and the
    activity / task manager, and after running the app for 1800 seconds
    (30 min) in the profiler, the memory size grew from 50mg to 165mg
    just sending the HTTPService.
    I tried loading the service in multiple ways including in AS
    rather than MXML creating new instances of it each time, resetting
    it, nulling it etc... but nothing prevented this memory increase.
    I then tried to load the XML using different methods such as
    using the URLRequest and URLLoader which again caused a memory
    leak.
    What still confuses me is that this leak did not exist in the
    previous version and not a great deal has changed since then apart
    from upgrading to Flex 3 and possibly upgrading my Flash payer
    (which I believe is a possible cause)
    After looking into this issue a bit more deeply, I read a few
    blogs / forums and other people are experiencing the same problems
    - even with a lot bigger leaks in some cases all when reloading
    large sets of XML data into Flex - however, I as of yet found no
    solution to this leak - people with a similar problem believe it is
    not due to a memory leak more a GC error, and others pointing
    towards the Flash Player itself that is leaking - I don't really
    know.
    Findings so far during investigation of this issue:
    * App leaks for both HTTPService and ULRRequest / URLLoader
    methods
    * App only leaks when calling a data loader
    * The size of the leak seems to depend on the size of the
    XML being loaded
    * The size of the leak also seems to be affected by the
    applications heaviness - the greater seems to enhance the leak
    An interesting factor I have noticed is that if I copy the
    XML from my "myXML.cfm" that I link to in my HTTPService and copy
    the contents of the file into my own XML file stored within the
    Flex project root itself: ""myXML.xml"" the leak disappears... like
    it seems to link when loading the XML over a network, however as my
    network knowledge is not great I am not sure what to make of this -
    any ideas???
    Could the connection to the XML document cause leaks??? is
    there anything else that could cause this leak??? have I something
    in my code sample that could cause this leak??? or could any of the
    other things I have mentioed cause this leak???
    Any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jon.

    I also observed heavy memory leak from using httpservice with
    XML data. I am using Flex3 builder under Linux. My Flex application
    polls httpservice every 10 seconds. The reply is a short XML
    message less than 100 bytes. This simple polling will consume 30+
    MB of memory every hour. I leave it idling for several hours and it
    took 200 MB of memory. No sign of garbage collection at all.

  • Memory leak in Application

    Hi,
    we're load testing an application using Coherence. It uses a distributed cache, with an web application as the client, and separate cache servers implementing a Cache Store.
    We're getting several memory leaks and one area that was reported was a great number of instances for the com.tangosol.coherence.component.util.daemon.queueProcessor.service.DistributedCache$GetRequest class.
    Does anybody know what could cause these instances to be left hanging around? I think the Coherence classes ar a symptom of another problem rather than an issue with Coherence itself but it would be useful to know what could cause these objects to be left in the heap.
    Thanks
    Mike

    After further load testing, our application definitely seems to be leaking Coherence objects.
    The classes seem to be com.tangosol.util.Binary &
    com.tangosol.coherence.component.util.daemon.queueProcessor.service.DistributedCache$GetRequest.
    During testing, the number of Binary objects rose 0 to about 9000 and the number of GetRequest objects rose from 0 to about 3600 in two hours.
    The application stores objects in the cache and updates them, the main operation being to add to a very long log string required by the client to these objects, which represent sessions.
    Our test keeps a constant number of these objects in the cache during the run, removing the same number it creates after it has ramped up to full load testing.
    The application is stateless, it recieves frequent requests to get an object from the cache, work on it and put it back in the cache. The cache also has a cache store to persist the data to a database.
    Are there any references to the cache objects that would stop them being garbage collected?
    Our whole application is based in a simple stateless reqest/response operation and I cannot see where the huge number of objects is coming from.
    Mike
