Our existing production system is Sun Solaris 5.5.1.

/bin/cshBut we have menu.ksh script which used korn shell.

Now I am upgrading DB on the new system which is SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.
echo $SHELL
/bin/bash
Do I need to make changes in the menu.ksh to run on SLES8?
If yes, what changes I should make?

does the backspace key work when you're physically at the server console? do you only have the problem when you log in remotely? if so, how are you accessing it remotely? (shelling in from a solaris box? using PuTTY on a windows machine?)

Script can not be invoked from a java stored procedure

i made a java procedure and called it via a sql procedure which takes a string as input :
the string is passed to Runtime.getRuntime().exec("myString");
if that string is :
rm -f /test/test22.log
proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rm -f /test/test22.log");
the file test22.log which is in the test folder gets deleted
but when i pass the command . /test/batchstart.ksh to execute a script the script does not execute.
proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(". /test/batchstart.ksh");
file permissions have been given and also the executable rights.
if some bobdy can tell why the script is not executing that will be of great help

Transactional file output from a Java Stored Procedure invoked by trigger.

I need to write information to a file from a Java Stored
Procedure which is called from an insert trigger. This works OK
except for the condition when a rollback is performed - the file
is updated anyway.
I need the Java Stored Procedure file output to be part of the
transaction - performed on commit and skipped on rollback. Is
there any way the Java Stored Procedure can be aware of the
state of the transaction?

Unix ksh invoking java

Hello, I am new to java and hope someone can help.
I am not a java user, but have been asked to automate all the java startups.
My ksh is a simple menu script that allows startup of the various java components.
Each of the java componenets is another small script that basically looks like this:

The problem is that when the main script in ksh, calls the secondary scripts, the nohup is being ignored.
I have even added the trap command from the main program, and all the java components that are started still die.
The only way I have found around this is by adding the -Xrs option to each of the java command lines.
But from what I am told by our Java folks is that using this -Xrs option does not allow them to get dumps when troubleshooting.
So, is there any way around this.

Never used nohup b4, but looking at the info page...If standard output is a terminal, it is redirected so that it is
appended to the file `nohup.out'; if that cannot be written to, it is
appended to the file `$HOME/nohup.out'. If that cannot be written to,
the command is not run.
If `nohup' creates either `nohup.out' or `$HOME/nohup.out', it
creates it with no "group" or "other" access permissions. It does not
change the permissions if the output file already existed.
If standard error is a terminal, it is redirected to the same file
descriptor as the standard output.
`nohup' does not automatically put the command it runs in the
background; you must do that explicitly, by ending the command line
with an `&'. Also, `nohup' does not change the scheduling priority of
COMMAND; use `nice' for that, e.g., `nohup nice COMMAND'.
So do you have an output file?

In adobe bridge in Tools menu below the cache submenu it only says "process collections in Photoshop". It does not give me the option to "load images in layers is Photoshop"

If all the items do not appear, consider resetting Bridge Preferences.
Close Bridge, hold down Command-Option-Shift (PC: Control-Alt-Shift) and then launch Bridge again. A dialog will appear asking what you want to do. Turn on the Reset Preferences checkbox and click OK. Now when Bridge appears, the preferences are factory-fresh.

Problem with Adobe BRIDGE getting Photoshop/Image Processor menu

When I open my drop-down or fly-out menu under TOOLS in Bridge (CS3 version), the entire portion of the menu which is supposed to appear next underneath the Cache line option is missing (i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Start Meeting..., Photoshop services).
What gives?
I'm trying to get to Image Processor under the Photoshop menu option (which is supposed to appear in the Tools drop-down menu).
Please tell me what's wrong. Thanks in advance.

Application stuck under menu toolbar

An application I'm running (Filezilla FTP client) is stuck under the mac menu toolbar. I can't grab the toolbar of the application to move it or access what I need to access. I've researched this issue and other people have had the same problem, but none of their solutions have worked for me. I've tried changing the resolution of my screen, disconnecting my dual monitor, "zoom" is not available in the program I'm working with, and I've tried a multitude of expose/spaces/random key commands to no avail. Any other ideas?

I can't see from your screenshot if there available screen space around the window. You could try dragging the window down from one of the bottom edge - making it smaller first if necessary (when the cursor is near the edge it has double arrow that indicates changing the window size), then make sure that your mouse is enough inside the window that the cursor is a normal one-arrow and drag it down. Repeat if necessary until the title bar reappears.

Blackberry 8310 not showing reply or send in sms text options menu

I have a blackberry 8310. iam able to recieve sms text messages but when i click to on options, there is no "reply" option in the menu for me to be able to reply to the text. The chip works fine in other phones so that tells me something in the phone is not set right. There is no option for me to even compose and fresh sms text message. Please help?

Here ya' go:
1. Get a good backup of your device: BB device backup (I keep all my backups in a separate folder created for that purpose so they are always in one place and easy to find.)
2. Download the most recent version of device software for your carrier: Downloading BB device software
3. Reinstall the device software: Clean reload of device software
4. Pull the battery out with the device ON. Wait about a minute and put the battery back in. Let the BB completely restart.
5. Once you have the device OS successfully installed you will then need to reinstall any 3rd party apps you currently have on your device: Install applications using the app loader tool
6. Complete another battery pull routine after each 3rd party app installation to reclaim memory and refresh your BB.

Using a custom menu button on the slide to open and close TOC in Captivate 7

I have a custom menu button. When the user clicks I want to show TOC, ( I see there is a state to show TOC) but when the user clicks the same menu button again on that slide how can I hide the TOC. ie toggle between hide and show.

Spry menu bar woes (add submenu levels and edit width)

So i need some spry menu bar help. Apparently as a graphic designer i'm also expected to webdesign, and while i can solve most problems with a good googling, i seem to be at my wit's end fo this one. So the site i'm doing has a header ith a horizontal spry pop-up menubar (in Dreamweaver CS4). But some problems arise: when i manually add another submenu level, they don't show up in chrome or FF, they do werk perfectly in IE6. I just add the following code to the codepage:

WHat part of the CSS style should i change to just have the text scoot over a bit without it really affecting the box layout? Also, how do i change the with of the submenus? seing as my main buttons are images, but the names i ned to put in my submenus are turning out to be pretty long...

Menu options in ALV report

Hi,
Im not getting Menu options in ALV report output. Not even default menu options SYSTEM, HELP Its dispalying as <b>????????????????????????????????</b>. Can someone help me regarding this?

Use web template to open a report from a menu

Hi all,
I have created one web template where I have a role menu that shows all reports that are available to the user. When the user clicks on one of these reports, the report displays in a new window. So far everything is working fine.
But, I have also created another web template and I want the report that is displayed in a new window to use this template. How do I do this? I have been looking at the settings for the Role menu, but can't find anywhere to put the template name...
Anyone have any ideas?

Hello,
yes you can use the publish function, but only to add new entries.
In Transaction pfcg (not in WAD or BEx) in SAP GUI and then select your role at the tab "Menu" you can add/remove/maintain/organize your menu.
just click on a menu entry and take sth.like edit.
Then you will see a link if you didn#t find the string &template_id= the system will take the standard template (Tranaction spro), and you can easily add or change this parameter.

How do I add the Displays icon to the Menu Bar?

In prior OS on my iMac, I was able to add the Display icon to the Menu Bar, making it a quick fix to adjust the resolution. That option no longer appears in the Display section of System Preferences. I am using multiple displays. Could that make any difference? Any suggestions?
