Menu vs. Submenu return issue

I am running DVDSP 4.2 and am having a menu return issue that I can't seem to resolve using the forum or the manual.
I created a DVD that has a main menu that links to a movie, a sub menu of chapters for that movie, and a features sub menu. If you chose play movie from the main menu, it calls the movie asset and plays from start to finish. When you go to the chapters sub menu you can go to any chapter (the same movie asset) and the movie will play from that point through the end.
My question is this. How do I get the menu button (when pressed) to return to the main menu if the movie was selected from there, or to the chapters button if the movie (chapter) was selected from there?
I know I have done this before but I can't find it and it's frustrating. And I believe it was a fairly simple operation as well. I could really use the help. Thanks!

As Drew said - use a few scripts OR use stories.
If scripting leaves you cold, set up two stories on your project and drop ALL of the markers into the chapter play, then only the ones you need for the features menu.
In your menus, set the main menu 'play' button to point to the track itself. Make sure the menu call is to go to the main menu. Next, point each chapter play button to the chapter inside the chapter play story container. Set the menu call for the story to go to the chapter menu. Finally, do the same for the features menu, setting the menu call for the second story to go to the feature menu.
All in all, I prefer the scripted approach, but it isn't for everyone. Stories offer an alternative approach, and there are other ways to set them up besides the way I describe above - it depends on what you want your viewers to be able to do.

  • Menu Bar SubMenu position issue

    Hi,
    I have an horizontal menu on my site which works, but I'm
    starting a new version of the site and there my submenus display in
    a weird position (in IE only) and with a transparent background.
    I read about the z-index bug, but couldn't find or understand
    the solution.
    I would appreciate if someone could have a look and help me:
    Current version with the menu bar working fine:
    http://www.thebaysoccer.com
    Test page of the new version where my problem appears:

    Thanks!

    Hello,
    The trouble is the fact that IE applies text-align:center to
    more things
    than just text.
    You applied it to the li CSS. This not only centers the text
    in IE, but also
    the <ul> (which are your submenus) within these
    <li>.
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    list-style-type: none;
    font-size: 12px;
    position: relative;
    text-align: center; <********
    cursor: pointer;
    width: auto;
    float: left;
    white-space: nowrap;
    You also have it in the ul.MenuBarHorizontal style.
    So, in IE the left edge of the <ul> (submenu) is
    aligning with the center of
    the <li> it is contained in.
    That's why the sub menu drops down with the left edge at the
    middle of the
    main nav "button".
    Remove those "text-align:center" rules.
    To center your menu text, apply text-align:center to the link
    style instead,
    like so:
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a
    display: block;
    cursor: pointer;
    background-color: #333;
    padding: 0.5em 0.75em;
    color: #EEE;
    text-decoration: none;
    text-align: center;
    As far as the submenu background, notice "fixed width" in the
    comment line
    above the following rule in the spry CSS.
    You had yours set to auto.
    Try this:
    /* Menu item containers are same fixed width as parent */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li
    width: 10em;
    background-color: transparent;
    Take care,

  • Spry Horizontal Submenu Bar Issues in IE6

    Hey there,
    I've been struggling with this issue for a while now, and I was hoping that I might be able to get a little help from the community to resolve it.  I've built a site which looks absolutely fine in all browsers except for Internet Explorer 6.  In IE6, the sub menu bars jump around all over the place for no apparent reason, and I can't figure out why...  The site in question is www.flexyoffice.co.uk.
    Now, in most browsers, the submenu appears above the menu bar.  This was my intention.  Unfortunately, in IE6, if you hover over a menu item containing a sub menu, the submenu will either appear over the menu item, below the menu item, or next to the menu item.  Additionally, once you try to actually hover over the sub menu, the sub menu itself moves, leaving the user to chase the submenu around the page in pursuit... Not ideal...!  Looking at the page in IE 6, it almost seems as if the submenu opens up to the right of the menu bar, which results in everything else being thrown out.  I could be wrong though.
    I'm relatively new to these forums, so if there is any specific information which I can provide which would possibly help to identify the issue, please do let me know.  If there are any suggestions out there that are worth giving a go, I would really appreciate any thoughts that you may have.
    Thanks very much guys,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    I tried your page in IE6 and it crashed the browser! To be honest, most people should have upgraded from IE6 ages ago, I was redirected to MS website to upgrade the second time I started the browser.
    As I couldn't even get the page to load, I can't suggest what could be wrong.
    One thing I did notice wrong that made your menus appear jumpy at first was that you are not preloading the images needed to display the menu bars.
    you have the Javascript function in the correct place - function MM_preloadImages() {
    But you have not selected to preload any images in the body tag.
    Should look something like this -
    <body onload="MM_preloadImages('images/buttons/contactOver.gif','images/buttons/aboutOver.gif', 'images/buttons/loginOver.gif','images/buttons/case_studiesOver.gif','images/buttons/newsO ver.gif','images/buttons/fundingOver.gif','images/buttons/eventsOver.gif','images/buttons/ homeOver.gif')">
    These are obviously not the images you want to preload (taken from one of my sites), replace the images with the images used in your menu and your menu will operate much smoother as the images will be ready to use.
    Hope this helps (a little!)

  • Help with vertical spry menu bar submenu displaying incorrectly!

    I’m new to Dreamweaver and am learning as I go. I am having a problem with the vertical spry menu bar submenu in the Live View. When I scroll over the spry menu bar option that has a submenu, the submenu appears in the upper right hand corner of my screen. (My menu bar is going down the left hand side.) However, when I preview it in Internet Explorer it looks fine after I allow the Java Script to run or the Active X controls, which my browser usually automatically blocks. (The browser just displays a small message along the top and I click on it to allow it.) To get it to do this much, I had to play around with the CSS for the spry menu bar a little bit.
    Before, when I clicked on the Live View option, a small message ran along the top in Dreamweaver saying it couldn’t find the Flash Plugin and asked me to download the most recent FlashPlayer, which I did twice. It continued to say that and then I just closed that message that kept popping up, but I think that has something to do with the problem. I then researched that problem in the Spry Framework Help and Dreamweaver Help, but couldn’t find a solution that worked. (Someone had posted a link for downloading the Flash Player for Netscape Navigator, but that didn’t seem to do anything.)
    Please also note that I am using one of Dreamweaver’s pre-built layouts. I don’t know if that makes a difference with this problem.
    How do I fix this problem so that it displays correctly in the LiveView? And will the message that I get on my browser about allowing blocked content appear on other people’s computer when they open my website?

    IE is a big problem child among browsers.  Don't use it as your default browser.
    For best results, build your site to display & perform well in the web standards browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Safari & Opera.   If it works in one, it should work pretty much the same in all of them.
    After you're satisfied with how your site looks in the good browsers, then test in IE.  If needed, add hacks or conditional comments to make IE behave.  There are many web sites that discuss known bugs in IE and how to work around them.
    Lastly, the active X nag screens only appear locally.  Once deployed on the remote server, you won't see them.
    For better answers to your layout questions, we need to see your page.  Can you post a URL?

  • Connect by menu's/ submenu's query

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a query listing all menu's/ submenu's attached to a certain function.
    I would like to use the "connect by" statement.
    However i cannot get it right.
    So far i have made the following query.
    select distinct fnd_responsibility_vl.responsibility_name
    ,fnd_menus_vl.user_menu_name
    ,submenu.user_menu_name
    ,fnd_menus_vl.type
    ,fnd_menus_vl.menu_id
    ,fnd_menu_entries_vl.grant_flag
    ,fnd_form_functions_vl.function_name
    ,fnd_form_functions_vl.user_function_name
    ,fnd_user_resp_groups_direct.responsibility_id
    from apps.fnd_form
    ,apps.fnd_user
    ,apps.fnd_menus_vl
    ,apps.fnd_menus_vl submenu
    ,apps.fnd_responsibility_vl
    ,apps.fnd_user_resp_groups_direct
    ,apps.fnd_form_functions_vl
    ,apps.fnd_menu_entries_vl
    ,apps.fnd_menu_entries_vl subm_entries
    where fnd_form.application_id = fnd_responsibility_vl.application_id
    and fnd_user_resp_groups_direct.responsibility_id = fnd_responsibility_vl.responsibility_id
    and fnd_user_resp_groups_direct.responsibility_application_id = fnd_responsibility_vl.application_id
    and fnd_user_resp_groups_direct.user_id = fnd_user.user_id
    and fnd_form_functions_vl.application_id = fnd_form.application_id
    and fnd_form_functions_vl.form_id = fnd_form.form_id
    and fnd_menus_vl.menu_id = fnd_responsibility_vl.menu_id
    and fnd_menus_vl.menu_id = fnd_menu_entries_vl.menu_id
    and fnd_menus_vl.menu_id = subm_entries.menu_id (+)
    and submenu.menu_id = subm_entries.sub_menu_id
    and fnd_form_functions_vl.function_name ='AP_APXPAWKB'
    and fnd_user.end_date is null
    and fnd_responsibility_vl.end_date is null
    START WITH
    fnd_menu_entries_vl.menu_id
    CONNECT BY
    fnd_menu_entries_vl.menu_id = PRIOR fnd_menu_entries_vl.sub_menu_id
    Anyone can help me out on this?

    Hi,
    If you want to START WITH the rows that are not children of other rows, say
    START WITH  fnd_menu_entries_vl.menu_id NOT IN
                    SELECT  sub_menu_id
                    FROM    fnd_menu_entries_vl
                )Depending on your tables, you may be able to do something simpler and faster.
    Speaking of faster, Timur is right. You'll proably get better performance if you do a sub-query with the CONNECT BY on fnd_menu_entries_vl, and then join that result set to the other tables.

  • I can´t see the Menu Spry submenu because a slideimages hide

    I can´t see the Menu Spry submenu because a slideimages hide. The slide image is under the spry horizontal menu, so when a put the mouse over, the submenus open behind the slide images.
    How can I repair.
    Thanks a lot, I can´t continue my work because of this.
    Sorry for may english.
    Thank you.

    Assuming that the image slider is coded in JS and not Flash, there should be a z-index specified. Usually the value of the z-index is some absurdly high number. The challenge is to give the sub menu items of the menu bar a higher z-index value or to reduce the z-index of the image slider to a value lower than that of the menu bar.
    The value of the z-index (1020) for the menu bar is located on or about line 48 of the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css

  • Horizontal menu submenu display issue in IE9

    I inserted a Spry horizontal menu into a page in Dreamweaver CS5 then edited it to display the way I need it to look. It looks great in FF, Safari, Chrome and Opera. In IE9 the drop down submenu items have too much (vertical) space between them. This is probably because I added a positioning element of "top: 20px" to make the menu center (vertically) correctly over the background image. I have tried any number of alternatives and this version of the CSS is just perfect except in IE.  I have searched for days for similar issues but haven't found anything to help.
    The page is http://myparlour.net/DashboardDDS /collections.html
    The site CSS is http://myparlour.net/DashboardDDS/dashboard_dds.css

  • Accordion Menu - Submenu position issue

    Hello,
    I've created an accordion menu that resides in the top right corner of my website. I seem to be getting various undesired results when previewing the site.
    Desired layout: Build mode
    Undesired Result: Page Preview
    Undesired Result: Site Preview
    The top level sites work fine but when I move the submenu to the left of the menu using the X position, then preview the page or site, the submenus show up either right over the menu or way off to the left of the site, almost completely off the page. I have no idea why, please help.
    Jeff

    Hi Sanjit, thank you for your reply.
    The first image is a from the Design View, the second is a page preview in browser and the final image is a site preview in browser. My default browser is Safari (also testing in Chrome however).
    If I leave the menu with default settings, the submenus appear off the site's live area and when I preview they do not show up at all. Presumabley they are off to the right side of the site.
    The menu is and has been set to "All Pages" and not manually throught my build. Other than plaving the vertical menu widget within the accordion widget, it is more or less default with exeption of some styling.
    I will try to rebuild the menu and see if the problem is still occuring. If you have any further sugestions I would be happy to hear them.
    Thnaks again

    Had another look at it and indeed it may become an issue in IE9, but because IE9 is still in beta, anything can change.

  • Submenu rollover issue

    Hi guys,
    I have a question. In an animation I am working on, I have a
    menu which I load via an xml file.
    The problem I have is that when I move the mouse away or I
    click on a link in the submenu, it does not clear itself and stays
    on active. How can I make this work?
    When I add
    clear_child(inview); to
    function menuchild_init, that removes the links in the
    submenu when it's clicked, but the background of the submenu
    remains active and on top of the animation.
    What changes to the function are needed to remove the
    background too?
    The script is below:

    That worked, also using the X and Y positioning on the top toolbar worked. But, for me anyway, if I go back in and edit anything on the submenu (double click, change text, etc.), it reverts back to where it originally was.. connected to the bottom of the bounding box. Then have to go back and position again. Not a huge issue, just a nuisance thing that should be addressed.
    Thanks for the speedy response

  • Spry Menu Bar Submenu won't show in Safari or Dreamweaver LiveView

    I am trying to get my submenu to show up on my website's spry menu bar. It will show up when I test the site using firefox or IE but it won't show when I try LiveView in Dreamweaver or when I test using Safari. The site is www.fuseut.com/fuse

    Sorry if it's something really basic...I'm a noob to web design.
    Thanks!

    Don't use reserved words in JS
    var event = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("events.xml", "catalog/event", {sortOnLoad: "date", sortOrderOnLoad: "descending"});
    event is such a reserved word. If you change this to event1 then all is well.
    I hope this helps.

  • Spry Menu with submenu border?

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm a bit of a newbie, and I am designing a website with a spry menu (which I have since found out probably wasn't the best way to go) and I have hit a hurdle which I can't fix or find the solution to anywhere. I'm hoping it might be easy for you guys.
    I have attached a pic of the problem, one menu item has a submenu, this is the 'About' menu, as you can see, it has a border top and bottom that I can't seem to find in the code in order to get rid of it. If anyone could let me know how to fix this I'll be extremely grateful!
    Also, any suggestions of better menu methods would be appreciated.
    Have a nice day

  • Goods return issue

    Dear Experts,
    One of our existing client engineering relvant industry is using SAP B1 PL_18 & facing a problem in purchase module. Scenario is the goods received through grpo found defective on quality check and the same is returned to the vendor through goods return. When the returned goods comes back then there is no option avaliable in standard SAP to receive the returned goods from goods return form.
    I s there any provision from goods return to receive the goods in standard SAP other than customization. If any one knows the solution or faced this kind of issue please share your knowledge.

    Mr.Sachin,
    Thanks for you suggestion but still in 8.8 version there is no provision to re-open the grpo once the good return is passed i think u have not checked properly.
    According to SAP PLC (Product Life Cycle) goods return is the last stage of purchase cycle there after there is no provision to re-open its corresponding Po or Grpo gets closed.

  • Horizontal menu bar -- submenu display

    Hi, everyone --
    This is my first post here, and my first time using spry. I
    am trying to set up my horizontal menu bar so that the submenus
    open up horizontally -- instead of vertically -- below the parent
    menu item. (If the submenu list opens up vertically below the
    parent item it takes up too much space.)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks so much!
