Pop up message on the variable screen in portal when report is run
Hello
I have a requirement to pop up a message stating " Date should not be entered before 2010 "on the variable screen of the report if date is entered before 2010 by the user when the report is run.
Please can someone tell me how to implement this?
thanksHi Tom,
The logic could be to include code in CMOD forat variable with ISTEP=2.
IF I_STEP = 2.
LOOP AT i_t_var_range into wa_t_var_range where vnam = 'Date Varaible'
<write condition to check the year entered. First, using function module DATE_TO_PERIOD_CONVERT, extract year from Date>
< CALL FUNCTION 'DATE_TO_PERIOD_CONVERT'
EXPORTING
I_DATE = ZT_SDT
I_MONMIT = 00
I_PERIV = 'Variant'
IMPORTING
E_BUPER = zbuper
E_GJAHR = zbdatj this is the year entered
EXCEPTIONS
INPUT_FALSE = 1
T009_NOTFOUND = 2
T009B_NOTFOUND = 3
OTHERS = 4>
>
Then check the year for the condition.
If correct.
exit.
else.
CALL FUNCTION 'RRMS_MESSAGE_HANDLING'
EXPORTING
I_CLASS = 'RSBBS'
I_TYPE = 'E'
I_NUMBER = '000'
I_MSGV1 = 'Date should not be entered before 2010'.
raise again.
endif.
endif.
endloop.
Hope this helps you.!

I would like that message pops up at the variable screen during the execution of the report.
How can I implement this functionality?
ThanksHi,
Use the following Code, don't write in between Case and EndCase, after ENDCASE you write code for I_STEP = 3.

Display message in BEx variable screen in 7.0
In BEx 3.5 I was able to display a message to the user when they enter a value they are not authorized for in the variable screen. This was done using the function module RRMS_MESSAGE_HANDLING in the variable user exit at step 3 and raising no_replacement.
This is no longer working as of BEx frontend 7.0. Is there a way (or different function module) I can display a message to the users on the variable screen?

Error message in Bex Variable screen
Hello All,
In my BW I have a new variable of type interval for the selection criterion calendar year/month .
I want to check high value of the interval if it is lesser than or equal to current calendar year/month (that is 201405) then report can be executed.Else if it is greater than current calendar year/month (that is 201405) an error message has to be displayed for the user to change the value.
Can anyone help me in knowing how this can be done.
Many Thanks,
PSHi,
This can be handled by writing code in Cmod i_step = 3.
IF I_STEP = 3.
LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE WHERE VNAM = 'Give the tech.name of user input variable'
IF LOC_VAR_RANGE-HIGH GT SY-DATUM+0(6).
CALL FUNCTION 'RRMS_MESSAGE_HANDLING'
EXPORTING
I_CLASS = 'RSBBS'
I_TYPE = 'I' " It will throw Warning Message
I_NUMBER = '000'
I_MSGV1 = 'Give the message which you need to display'.
RAISE no_replacement.
ENDIF.
ENDLOOP.
ENDIF.
Hope this gives an idea.
PS:In case you need to throw an error message then replace I_TYPE = 'I' by I_TYPE = 'E' .

AL

Hi,
Can we show a 'Information Message' on the variable screen for 1 particular query! I have a user exit variable in the query and I believe I can use this user exit variable to show the information message on the varable screen. When we run the query, we should see the variable screen with message on top of it.Hi Rahul,
I doubt the first requirement is possible.
To have a pop-up message after we click on Print version button, please check these threads:
Pop Up to be displayed on Export to excel button click
user specific pop-up system message
Hope these helps..!

Throwing error message in BEx variable
HI,
I am using one of the variables in the user exit in cmod. in step1 & step2 I determine some values to be poplated in the variables. What is the ABAP command if say I want to show an error message on the variable screen? For Example, if I want to print that the value is invalid or somethingI want to re-phrase my quesitons a little bit.
IN user exit there are 3 i-steps. What I want to do is the following.
In i-step 2 I determine the values for 4 variables based on the 2 values that have default values. This works fine.
However, if the user changes selection, I want to be able to check in i-step3 what user input and return an error i f values are not valid, so that the query does not run. It seems like step3 does not let me do it.
Thank you,

Adding messages to the Variable entry screen in web report
I need to add a message or note to the variable selection screen on a web report. I need this message or note to be displayed somewhere on the same screen with the variable list. I found something similar in BW Expert regarding pop-up messages, but this does not work with web templates. Does anyone know of a way to add a static (or dynamic) message to this initial screen of a web report?
In my clients place, they are ready to do the SAP Mod based on "CL_RSR_WWW_VARIABLE_SCREEN" to have a Alert Message which sort of based on different idea.
Does anyboay have an idea on where to make the change?
Thanx

How to add customize message on the variable selection screen in the query
Hi all,
Can we add an customise message on the variable selection screen in the query? If yes please let me know how it can be achevied?
Thanks,
RaniHi Rani,
I faced a similar issue (for what I understand your request is).
My requirement for the Variable Screen was to do:
1) place a link to a ppt file
2) remove buttons "Save", "Save As...), "Delete"... the standard buttons come when running the Query or WebTempl
We were using a Web Templ for BI7.0
I struggled trying to find out how to do it. My conclusions are:
- WAD, not sure we can accomplish it using a Web Template but i did not "play" a lot with the Web_Template Properties in order to know
- XHTML, I was told in my post HTML modification was the way, but I have close to nil background in HTML and couold not find the way of accessing the Variable Entry screen
For instance, I had to remove similar buttons and change some font size from a link on the Web Template (WAD), which was pretty straight forward. In WAD the buttons come with its own icon and to increase the Font size for that link we used XHTML (<font size="2" >). But the heck of the variable screen...well, i just did not get trhough to it to modify it in any way.
Good luck,
Definetly in a Query I would say that no.

Adding a message to the variable selection screen
Hi there
I have been asked to find a way to add a message to the variable selection screen.
It appears that DIVISION needs to be added to the selection screen, as this makes the query run faster. However, they don't actually want the user to enter a division, as this causes other problems.
So, ideally, I would be able to add a message to the variable selection screen that advises users against entering a value for division.
I don't know how to do this.
I create the web template, and I can therefore add messages or anything you like to the template, but I don't believe I have any control over the variable selection screen.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
We are running a 2004s system if that helps.
Cheers,
AndrewHello,
Well i think if you make the variable used for division not ready for input it would not be available for the users to input anything.
you can find the checkbox for this in the properties of the variable in query designer.
Hope this matches your requirement.

Hi Gurus,
I am useing Tabs in my Layouts, onces the user in layout after entering the Variables. he can move from one tab to another tab.
We have provided the option Variable button in order the changes the variables. so when the user clicks on this button.
i used this Command used: Open_Variable_Dialog.
I get this message on top of the Variable screen: Please Select a Valid Info Object.
How to get raid of this messages and when the user clicks on the Variable Button ( I want to clear all the Variables that user has entered for this first time so that he can enter it again) i tried useing the REMOVE ALL FILTER VALUES and SET Variables State but this did not work.
Any Idea how the Command Sequence should be in order to achive this.
Thanks
sunilHi Josef,
My Default view is fine.
User can see
- Plant
- BA
- PH 1
- PH 2
- PH 3
- PH 4
User can enter any of these PH Levels and enter the layout. Once they are in the layout I have provided with the variable screen button on top of the Tabs. My Container Layout is like this (Rows Cell Floating)ROW 1 Buttons and Row 2 Tabs.
So when the Click on the Row one Button (Variable Screen) the Variable Entry is opened and it is the same order as Default View but on top if the Variable Entry I see this Error message on Top of this Screen (Please select a Valid InfoObject).
But I did try your option having to separate Container Layout. Still I see this message on top of the Variable screen. which i am trying to get rid
Thanks

If i run the same report in RSRT i do get my variable screen. It was all find till yesterday and for some strange reason i dont get to see my variable screen.

SuryaWhat version are you on?
Did you try resetting personalized variables? You may have hit that by mistake, happens a lot here. Not sure that would be the case with no values entered however.

Force Variable screen with Web Templates
We are on SP7 and have made the necessary settings based on note 950463, however the variable screen only pops up the first time you click the "New Analysis" button. If you click the button again, and select a query with optional variables, the variable screen does not show up. I've tried setting the default parameters in the IMG and in the portal iview to always pass the parameter VARIABLE_SCREEN=X along with making the necessary modifications to our default web template, but none of this has worked. Has anyone else come accross this?
Message was edited by: Ravi PatelHey,
Below is a version of the web analyzer I created with the following changes:
1. Variable screen will always open on subsequent calls to the "New Analysis" button, even for optional variables.
2. A button for refresh. This button basically calls the variable screen. If no variables exist, then this will just refresh, but if variables do exist, this launches the variable screen and then refreshes, similar to the refresh used within the 3.x Bex Analyzer...
3. A button for "Back to Start" which takes you to the inital state of the web application.
4. A button for "Back" which will take you back one navigation state. Hope this code helps!
Cheers,
Prakash
