Meta Files

<posting questions from CadCapture to the forum for better visibility>
I am trying to understand how the META files work in relation to the overall AutoVue procedure when requesting these files and check if our integration is behaving as we want.
Questions:
Does AutoVue send a request for any META file every time regardless or can this be turned off? There are config options that I am aware of in vuelink.properties to turn off the check in of the generated META files and for validating them but I presume this does not turn off the request by AutoVue to see if it exists in the DM?
Presuming it does do the request and we cannot turn this off then am I correct in GetPropCSI_Renditions returning null in DMSProperty[] buildRenditionProperty is sufficient enough for AutoVue to believe there is no META file and generate another?
If the vuelink properties for checking in META files into the DM and validating the META files are set to false am I correct in thinking the Action Save for META files should not be invoked or do we need to explicitly check this configuration ourselves?
We are seeing attempts at saving META files even though check in is set to false. Also when this save is attempted a <Property></Property> element is malformed in the XML data provided to the Action Save request when it comes to the META file and I am trying to work out why this would be.
This malformed property is the serialised DocID object which was not found when the check to the DM was made for the META file.
Any information on this would be really appreciated.

Metafile saves on the DMS are controlled by two properties
a server (global) property for generating streaming files (dms.save.metafile)
and a DMS specific one: the server queries the DMS to see if it supports this mime type
reply to get Property CSI_Renditions, it checks if the return list has the entry CSI_META
If both conditions are true the jvueserver will save the metafile
A DMS that does not support storing the streaming file can just return null (or simply do not return CSI_META if it support others rendition like TIFF)

  • Open Hub export of file without meta file?

    Hi Gurus,
I am daily exporting delta files with Open Hub Services to server.
The name of the files include dates, so every day a new file is created and also a new meta S_ file is created.
How can I export with Open Hub just data file without meta data file?
Because every month there will be 30 meta files which will be of no use for me.....

  • FCPX 10.0.4 import of MET files

FCPX 10.0.4 seems to import 60p recorded video from the Sony Alpha 65. The European version record 50p, but the FCPX do not accept this format. Any comments on this? How is the 50p .MET-files best preserved and converted into FCPX 10.0.4? Anybody?

You connect the camera in playback mode. It mounts on the desktop. You open the camera import window. Import the clips. What's not working?
You also back up the card onto a separate drive as an archive.

I have a hp scanjet 4570c Scanner that I need to be able to save or convert scans to Black & White Scalable or Windows Meta Files to use with our Engraving Machine. We had a hp scanjet 4400c that used Precision 3.1 Software and it could save a scan as Black & White Scalable. It was perfect for our Engraver until the scanner went bad. Our 4570c doesn't have an option for that. Help !

  • Where are photo meta files kept?

Where are the meta data files (if that is the correct term) kept for phots that are tagged, key worded, etc. in Phtoshop Elements 8. I screwed up my boot drive and had to re-install all programs. My photo dawere files are safe on another hard drive but I can't find any mycatalogfiles or equivalent on it nor in the image of my boot drive. Thanks for any assistance you all can provide.

The tags and other metadata are kept in the catalog file, and usually this is stored on the C: drive, unless you specifically moved it or created it on a different drive. For PSE8, the file name is *.pse8db. I do not know the default directory (maybe someone else can help), but you can use Windows to search for any file named *.pse8db (you might have to tell Windows to look in hidden directories). Good luck!
If you meant to say you had to re-format the boot drive (you didn't actually say that, but its sort of implied), then your catalog file and the tags and other metadata are gone. I hope you practiced safe computing and made a backup!

  • Oracle VM disaster recovery network meta file discovery fails.

I am using the Oracle White Paper "Oracle VM 3: Integrating Oracle VM into a Disaster Recovery Solution using SAN"
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/vm/ovm3-disaster-recovery-1872591.pdf
The problem I am facing is that during the server discovery process in part 2 step  8 the meta network config files from the Primary site are not being recognized by the servers at the DR Site.
I received no errors during the DR Site server discoverer process which should have picked up the meta network config files brought over from the Primary Site OVM servers. I have rediscovered the servers and I have restarted the servers with no success. I am stuck any help or guidance would be appreciated.
    Thank you, Russell

After working with Greg King the Author of "Oracle VM 3: Integrating Oracle VM into a Disaster Recovery Solution using SAN" and Sairam Thota from Oracle support, we have come to the conclusion that this is a bug. We did upgrade to OVM 3.2.6 from OVM 3.2.1 with no success on resolving this issue. However, Greg did get the network config files working on the DR site but he had to do it manually. The SR with Oracle that I created is still open and I am awaiting a bug number to be assigned for this issue.
    Thank you, Russell

  • How is the meta file created?

I am trying to replicate how SignalExpress saves data to the tdms format. I particularly like how it creates the supplemental xxx_meta.txt file.
My first question is, has anyone already done this or something similar?
If not, my second question is, where is all this information coming from?

    Hi,
Most of the information in the xxx_meta.txt file comes from the data recorded (value and time stamps) or the file properties. Are you trying to replicate the process in LabVIEW?

  • I also have a .csv file with the name of a jpeg in one column and a text description of each jpeg in a second column. Is there a way to automatically insert one jpeg (photo) and its corresponding text, each pair on one page, into a Indesign document?

I also have a .csv file with the name of a jpeg in one column and a text description of each jpeg in a second column. Is there a way to automatically insert one jpeg (photo) and its corresponding text, each pair on one page, into a Indesign document?

I would also recommend to write the description into the meta data. This would allow to place a text frame above the image and it is possible to add meta information and file name automatically together with the image, when you place it or even in a prepared template.
Meta data information can be written easily in Bridge in the Meta File Workspace.

  • Quicktime error -2048 when trying to play.mov files.

I have been frustrated this weekend trying to find a solution to a problem that has only recently occurred accessing some digitised VCR tapes that had been archived on an external HDD. These are files that played back fine on my Quicksilver after I had recorded them, but now give a "Movie Not Available" message in Quicktime. However when opened in VLC I get a debug message box with the following information posted below. Any clues as to what might be the problem?
I recorded the files from my VCR using an ADVC-100 DA converter over firewire into BTV Pro which created .mov files (DV-PAL). When I try to open the files in BTV Pro, I get a message box "There was an error opening the movie. No Movie found. Error code 20,-2048" Did a search for this error and -2048 appears to be a Quicktime error, so am wondering if there is a problem with my installation of Quicktime. I have got all the usual suspects in stalled, Flip4Mac, Perian, VLC. Mpeg Streamclip but can't get the file to open. The external HDD is Mac formatted but I found some info about problems with missing resource forks in older .mov files causing problems if copied to NTFS HDD's.
Any ideas as to where to look next will be appreciated.

Well it used to work fine so I think so. When I try and run the installer you linked to I get a message saying that a later version is already installed- isn't it built into the latest QT releases? One thing I thought of- the original files I think were made on a mac so there were some resource fork files of 4K size. I deleted these as I kept trying to open them by mistake, but then after this trouble I dragged them back out the trash to the original location but it didn't fix the problem- could that have caused some sort of association problem?

  • How do I convert a (sharp) bitmap logo in a Word file into a sharp logo in a PDF?

I saw the help article that described creating a logo with Microsoft Powerpoint, saving it as a Windows meta file (.wmf) and then inserting the graphics into Word.  I suppose that means that Word CAN support vector graphics?  I am trying to get my graphics design person to send me a vector version of the logo.  In the mean time, how come you can not start with a sharp bitmapped image in Word and get an equally sharp image after it is converted to a PDF?  Surely doing that is just basic?  It's not like Adobe does not know how to manipulate and image?  I just don't get it.  I tried changing the presets to <Print> quality, but no dice.  I can not seem to get word to lose no data when I reduce the size of pictures either, so go figure.  Thanks in advance for your help.

It is not sharp when you see it in word, it only appears sharp due to the limited resolution you are viewing at and your distance from the screen. Logos should be  made from vector graphics so they can print at any needed resolution and look as good as they can. Bitmaps can look great if they are customized for a specific resolution, but any scaling will ruin it.

  • Excel file trucation in PDF output file

Having problem with PDF output file as the imported EXCEL table gets truncated - approx. the left 1/2 upper left corner is the only part of the table that appears in the PDF file.  Master file displays correctly in PM. No apparent memory issue so any thoughts? Thanks.

    A bit more info please.
Windows or Mac, and which versions?
    Which version of PM?
How did you import the speadsheet into PM?
How did you create the PDF?
Cropping and displacement of meta-files when creating PDFs from PM is well known and there are work-arounds.
The long term answer is move on to InDesign.

  • NTFS-3G - Help setting up, and getting rid of .DS_Store files

    Hello All,
I'm new to the Mac world so please bare with me. I installed this last night using a video from CNET on youtube, but the final command line they gave didn't work. I eventually mounted the disk and it seemed to work, however there were strange files and folders on the disk when I went back into Vista.
So I reinstalled everything and now I'm ready to try it again.
Could someone please give me a step by step way (step 1. Install Mac Fuse) of setting up Ntfs-3g and any command lines or anything I would need to use. Call me lame, but I don't understand the instructions as I keep finding different ones everywhere I look.
Secondly, could someone explain why I keep getting .DS_Store files and similar ones like that when I navigate into Windows? I realize these must be Mac system/meta files, but they're clogging up everything. Is there a way to either have them not be written, or be hidden/cleaned by vista.
    Thanks for your help!
    Jeff

actually, what would work awesome as well is a single directory where I could just put the files in that I need or want to modify....that would be another cool option if anyone knows how.

  • Golive and WMV streaming files

I am tryin to get a WMV streaming file to work on my Windows XP laptop. I created a WVX redirect as follows:
I upload this file (ASCII format) to my server and put it into the same folder as my wmv streaming file. Then I create an HTML page in GOLive 5 using the QT plugin and create a link to the Meta file. When I load the Html file and go to play the videoon my Windows XP machine, I get an error message in The Windows Media Player that says it can't locate the file. But it is definitely there. I even downloaded the latest QT player for Windows XP and stil nothing. I can go directly to the wmv file in my browser and it will download (not stream) just fine. Any suggestions?

    Hello Xandrex,
Thanks for your reply. I was afraid my post has gotten lost between many others.
Your advise did not work. Still getting same error "unsupported file format" and in order to get rid of it I need to do the battery pull.
    Any other ideas?

  • How can I get iTUNES library to display renamed files and folders (renamed with Windows Explorer)?

How can I get iTunes library to display the new names and organisation of tracks and albums (ie files and folders) that I have renamed and reorganised (using Windows Explorer) having previously imported them using iTunes?
(Even when I relocate "lost" tracks in iTunes (using the drop down menu facility to view in Windows explorer), although iTunes will then play the track, and knows where to find it, it refuses to display the track with its correct (new) name, or show it the correct (new) album.  That means I have lots of things called "Untitled" and "Track 01" etc, all of which have actually been renamed, but iTunes does not seem to have the capability to recognise the changes and update its library listing.  Another example - a Tchaikovsky CD with 3 major works in 13 tracks insists on displaying in iTunes as 13 tracks in one album, despite the fact that I have reorganised the tracks into 3 albums - two being Swan Lake and The Nutcracker - and renamed the individual tracks to a more useable format.)

    Thanks for your replies ckuan
I agree with Tgod that your first solution does not work.  It appears unpredictable whether the old or new file names are listed when you drag the folders into iTunes from Windows Explorer.  The folder structure is completely missing.  I reckon if you have to muck around spending days/weeks/months finding out how to fix links to a secret meta-file (obviously designed by some deep-cover microsoft worm working in the Apple!), then it's pretty obvious that almost any alternate way of doing this would be better.   Bye bye iTunes!!
Incidentally, I tried several other things that (if the software was designed intuitively) should work, but give disastrous results:
    1) when deleting the library listing in iTunes, it gives you two options - one is to remove the listings to the Recycler.  Be aware that IF you select that option, it removes not only your library listing, but also your ACTUAL MUSIC FILES to the Recycler.  Moreover, it does NOT remove the insidious secret meta-file that is what apparently keeps rewriting old names over your carefully renamed file names, and keeps totally ignoring your carefully designed folder (album) structure.  OK - not a complete disaster, as I realised and went hunting through the chaos in the Recycler to recover all my files.  No thanks to the genius who designed this brilliant feature!
    2) after deleting the library listing in iTunes, I attempted to import just the folders that I wanted.  iTunes refused to allow me to do that, and proceeded to try to import every frigging music file it could find on my whole hard drive, in apparently random fashion into the library.  Whoever thought up that doozy either never ever tried to use or market test it, or has modified their mind rather too many times with artificial substances so their brain is like muesli chop suey.
    3) oh why go on, it's too depressing ...
