Method to capture User ID of Oracle Applications?

Dear Members,
We want to create some database triggers on GL_INTERFACE table.
The requirement is as follows:
We want to capture the information of the users like user id etc when ever they update the information on GL_INTERFACE.
We dont want to customize the form.
Are there any DB commands based on which we can capture the user id of the applications.
Please help me on this regard.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Arun Reddy

Dear Members,
thanks a lot for your valuable replies.
Actually I have a requirement as follows:
Iam getting data into GL_INTERFACE from other subledgers.
Once the data is there in GL_INTERFACE ,because of some reasons users are updating the values in GL_INTERFACE via Correct Journals form.
But in GL_INTERFACE table there is no provision to capture the last updated by and last updated date values.
I tried to enable the audit trails on GL_INTERFACE table but couldnt do that because oracle's standard functionality says that we can enable audit trails only on the tables which have primary key.
But GL_INTERFACE doesnt have a primary key so we couldnt enable audit trails.
now i want to create some database triggers on GL_INTERFACE.but iam not getting a way by which i can capture the user name who is updating the values.
Can anyone please suggest me a way.
Regards,
Arun Reddy.

  • Retrieve user name inside oracle application

    Hi,
I have a form which i installed in the oracle application. One of the fields needs to retrieve the name of the user which has logged into
    the application via WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE.
:sponsor is my field (i omitted the block because its only one in the form,so it works like this)
    What i tried :
:sponsor := user; this retrieves the logon name into my database (which is linked with the logon on the forms builder 6i) e.g. APPS
:sponsor := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY('SSO_USRID'); this retrieves nothing
:sponsor := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY('SSO_USRDN'); this retrieves nothing
:sponsor := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(USERNAME); this retrieves nothing
:sponsor := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(CONNECT_STRING); this retrieves my oracle application instance name e.g. TEST
What i need is the actual user that has logged into the oracle application to access the responsibility that holds my form. This happens with
the classic logon of Oracle Applications 11i (no SSO or anything like that).
    Thx guys!

Can anybody please let me know how to restrict user access in 10g AS? To be specific, how to allow http requests from specific IPs only?

    Hi,
You have to edit httpd.conf and modify acces rights for each protected directory
    e.g.
    <Directory /var/www/sub/payroll/>
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from 192.168.1.0/24
    </Directory>
then you have to restart Oracle HTTP Server

Can somebody know of a users group for Oracle Application Server in Chicago land area (Naperville to be precise).
    Thanks

check the script to start the iAS is having a variable called FORMS_PATH . If yes modify this. Also do an echo $FORMS_PATH after setting this.
Otherwise you can edit the profile or script which sets the ias env variable with FORMS_PATH.
Also check the value in the default.env which can be found in ORACLE_HOME/forms/server

  • Model to Oracle Applications returns no columns with Standard Reverse

I'm connecting a model using the apps user to an Oracle Applications 9.2 database for selected tables. It will return the table as a data store but it won't populate any columns. Anyone know why?

Thanks for the responses. I realized over the weekend that they were synonyms.
I created a number of models for each of the schemas where the tables reside. This allows me to retrieve the table columns as I needed to do.
It brings up another question though about the suitability of data integrator with Oracle Applications or applications that are organized similarly. Since the synonyms don't create column definitions creating a separate model for all of the OA schemas certainly isn't very convenient at best. Is there something that I am missing, or do I need to create a model for each schema as I suspect.

  • Trace Users Currently Connected to Application

    Hi,
I want to see the list of users who are currently connected to Application.
I had set the Profile Option "Sign-On Audit" at "Form" level.
Now I am monitoring the database using "Security:Users -> Monitor" option and throuth the sql query mentioned below. I am getting different output from both the ways.
    select distinct fu.user_name User_Name,fr.RESPONSIBILITY_KEY Responsibility
    from fnd_user fu, fnd_responsibility fr, icx_sessions ic
    where fu.user_id = ic.user_id AND
    fr.responsibility_id = ic.responsibility_id AND
    ic.disabled_flag='N' AND
    ic.responsibility_id is not null AND
    ic.last_connect like sysdate;
Please let me know how to check the users currently connected to the application and their logged in time.
    Thanks and Regards
    Amith

After successfully completing the request "Purge Signon Audit" i tried to monitor the users, it shows all the users connected to the Application today. It does't display the users who are currently connected to APPS Server. This is an expected behavior since you have "ic.last_connect like sysdate;" in your query. If you want to check the users who are connect in the last in the past (15/30 minutes or 1 hour) please refer to:

  • Deploying Oracle Applications over mobile phones

Hallo!I am an Oracle Newbie studying for the Oracle 10g Administration course.
I am just curious. If one wanted end users to access Oracle Applications e.g E-Business Suite,Discoverer,Siebel etc over mobile phones such that Oracle Forms and Reports could be loaded over a mobile phone, what would this entail?
What kind of configurations would need to be done on the Application Servers plus on the mobile phones themselves to realize this? Will you need J2ME plus other s/w to do this?
Please give me a very brief overview as to the applications needed and configurations to be done to achieve this.
    Thanks.

  • Starting Oracle Application Server as a particular user under windows

    Hi All,
I am wondering if there is any way of starting the Oracle Application Server with a users default operating system environment variables set.
The reason I ask this, is that we have deployed a webapp which contains a piece of software which needs to be run on the command line for generating reports using the reports 6i client (rwcli60). We have had issues with this in regards to the application not finding a proper service under Oracle Application Server.
Our company then had to revert going back to a Apache/Tomcat setting and deploying the same web app on the tomcat server. Originally we were getting the same error. As a consequence we decided to change the user who runs tomcat as the same user who runs the oracle reports 6i server. This worked.
Also of note is that when this was done, the tomcat server has ALL the environment settings as the os user. This can easily be seen by using the Runtime.exec("cmd /c set") command and printing its outputs. However executing the same command withan Oracle App Server results in a dramatically reduced environment to the logged in user who started the app server.
Any help would be most helpful.
    Cheers
    Rodney

    Hi All,
From much research and experimenting to get this to work I looked at the java.lang.Runtime class and noticed that seperate processes can be started using this very important Java class.
The first thing that I experimented with was in regards to seeing the environment OC4J runs against. Using the java.lang.Runtime class I executed a standard "cmd /c set" command in my Windows environment, and noticed that Oracle Application Server uses its own environment and not a standard windows login environment for its OC4J containers. Apache Tomcat on the other hand uses the standard user login environment.
So to get the application to be able to work properly we needed to override the particular environment the process needed to be able to get it to work. There is a exec command which allows you to override completely the environment for a process you would like to run. This method call does not in any way shape or form change the standard OC4J environment. This was done by executing the same "set" but with the overriden environment. Note that no environment variables from the OC4J container are carried into this new environment.
    Cheers

  • Capturing username in forms of Oracle Applications

  • Adding Oracle Application users to business area

Can someone tell me how can I add ALL Oracle Application Users to a Business Area in Oracle APPS R12
I am using an Application Mode EUL

There's lots of good info on this forum about this topic but in a nutshell ...
You could identify the user from within Discoverer and then filter on that but by far the easiest method is to use what Oracle BIS views use, NoetixViews views use, etc. and that's to put the code in a database view that filter the row information back depending on the responsibility running it.
The hardest thing to understand is that you code the SQL in the database view and then if you tried to look at the results with a tool like TOAD, you'll get no data. People think that it's not working because no data came back but really it's good as it's working, because if you then used that same view in Discoverer with the correct responsibility, you'd see the data.
So, exactly what you want is what happens in that the same report is run by 2 different responsibilities (Houston HR manager or New York HR manager) but the data returned will be only what they're allowed to see as defined by Oracle Apps.
Search on this forum for more - or to get a heads up, look at some of the Oracle BIS HR or GL views to see what I mean. If you haven't generated the BIS views then you can see 'ungenerated ones' as well in the Apps schema, views, and they'll follow a naming convention starting with: glfv_blah. You'll see glfv ..., glfb ..., glfg ....
The good ones are glfg ... as they've been generated but again, if you look at a glfv or hrfv look at the SQL at near the end see how they're determining the user, his org, etc.
Ths should keep you happily busy over Xmas!

  • How to popup a msg from Oracle to all appl users logged in the Application

    Hi All,
We are using Forms/Reports6i and database oracle9i
Does Oracle provide any message broadcast method to send messages to the Application users which are currently using the application.
If not then how it will be performed.
Suppose we have to send some server maintenance messages to all users so only all application users who are logged in to application must get these messages. No other users.....
For Example: 1 Server and 200 Application Users logged in..I want to send any message in oracle to all of them after they are logged in the application.
    Advance Thanks

no - you have to wait till the next forms release. there you can do it
in between you have to work with timers, which query in the db, if there are new message for the user. build a news-table where you look into. Or build an AQ and write get-functions in db-packages, which you use in forms 6i for reading in the AQ.
but don't use (if possible) this timers in the web, because your performance will have problems then
