Tech specs declare that
Prise casque
Sortie casque/audio numérique optique (prise mini-jack)
So I must assume that at least, Apple iPhone earphones' mic works fine.

  • Bug Yosemite avec un MacBook Pro Rétina 13" (Fin 2013)

    Bonjour,

    A bientot

In the end I sent it to Apple Service Centre. The technicians had to replace the entire lid to fix this problem. They didn't really tell me what caused the problem but, yeah, the lid had to be replaced. So making a guess I think it's the connection problem. Nothing you can do about that but to get it fixed at apple.

  • How can I connect external microphone to MacBook Pro?

    Hello!
I need to connect the external microphone to my MacBook Pro? How can I do it?

Some mikes have sufficient output to connect to this port, Alexey, but most don't. the solution, if you really want to use this particular mic, is to obtain a small battery or mains powered pre-amplifier to connect between the microphone and the line -in input. Alternatively there are devices which will allow you to connect your existing mic through the USB port. If you have an amplifier with a mic input already you could also use this as an intermediary, though it won't be very portable, of course!
You may find it cheaper to simply buy either a USB or "line level" mic, though.

  • External microphone and macbook pro

Hi, I've recently purchased a macbook pro and I would like to know if someone has tried to connect an external micophone. I've tried to connect a simple microphone to the line in port but it doesen't work. Do you think that is a problem on the line in port? Do I have to use a special kind of microphone?
    Thanks a lot.
    luiss

    Welcome to the forums.
You need to change the settings in the system preferences so that the system knows you have a mic plugged in.
Plug the mic back in and then go to "System Preferences : Sound" and from the Input tab click on Line In to select it.
You will need to do these steps again but selecting "Internal Microphone" if you want to switch back to the internal mic.

just want a simple audio in/out solution for use with macbook pro (skype/movies/itunes, etc). can I use the typical ipod/iphone earphone+mic or do I need special hardware? 3 notches or 4 notches on the plug?

  • Microphone for Macbook Pro 2011

    Hello
    I got a MacBook Pro late, 2011.
I want to buy a Steelseries Siberia v2 headset with a microphone, but i dont know whether or not the microphone will work. The headset has two male jacks in the end - one for the headset, and one for the microphone. I dont believe the audio line in, will accept the microphone?
If it won't, is there any work around? - Like a y-split cable for instance?
    Thanks

7200RPM hard drives can boost your overall performance, and so can SSDs.  17" MacBook Pros can have external SATA via Express/34 added to boost performance.  Hard drives that are over 85% full will significantly degrade performance.  Make sure any hardware drivers or software you have has been tested with your GPU, and CPU, and operating system down to the point release.  Just because something is 10.6.x compatible doesn't mean it is anything more than 10.6 and 10.6.1 compatible.  It may have issues with 10.6.7.
Run the font update for 10.6.7 if it hasn't been already, if you are running 10.6.7:

  • Microphone on Macbook pro does not work in windows 7 with parallels

I recently purchased a Macbook pro with retina display, and installed windows 7 on the macbook with parallels desktop 7.  I found out my microphone was not working correctly inside windows, I did bought my laptop to Apple store, at first we thought it was the microphone problem and exchanged me a new laptop, but the issue still exits, so I bought the laptop back to Apple store, this time we find out it seems like the microphone only not working under the windows, it works just fine in Mac part.
Apple direct me to windows telling me that I might need to install a device or driver only windows can provide; then when I contacted window, Windows told me I need to contact apple because the device or deriver must provided by the manufacture of the PC.  Both side still direct me back to each other, so I still don't know what deriver or device I needed..........
When I pull up the device manager inside windows, the only device listed under sound is "Parallels Audio Controller (x64)"
Another thing is, the microphone still works inside windows 7, it's just not working correctly.  For an example, if I'm doing a live chatting with my friends inside windows, I can hear my friends and they can hear me too, but they cannot hear me very clearly, it seems like there are some kind of negative feedback, it seems like there's an electronic vibrate in my voice.
    Can someone please help me
    Thank you

I needed to make a Skype call and I could not figure which device is the input/capture device, and I want to use the internal mic as the capture device, not an external component.  When I open up alsamixer, and look at the capture devices, I am concerned because I notice the following.
    My current alsamixer settings
Can anyone clue me into which one is the one I should unmute and set up?  I have played around with Audacity for a while changing these and I am just spinning my wheels.

I usually use code blocks for code, not command output.  But I will follow conventions.
In any event, I am having one of the weeks.  It appears I need set up the appropriate modprobe config to specify my sound device type.  With root, do the following.
    echo options snd-hda-intel model=mbp55 > /etc/modprobe.d/mbp62-sound.conf
I found other model information, but found using 5,5 settings works for MacBook Pro 6,2 laptops through searching generally through other distro docs and found this for Gentoo.

  • Internal microphone in MacBook Pro 15" not working after upgrade to Yosemite

    Hello
This issue is similar to iMac's problem with the internal microphone not working in FaceTime. In sound preferences, I have the internal microphone set for input. In FacetTme, I have Video->Microphone->Internal Microphone selected. There is no corresponding menu item for Audio (perhaps this is the problem? ). When I make a Facetime video call, I can hear the recipient, but they cannot hear me.
When I go into the Sound setting->Input, select Internal Microphone and test it (like record something from Photo Booth), the bars (input level) remain greyed-out.

    Merci d'avance !

when upgrading to mavericks, on occasion my macbook pro retina freezes when using the trackpad, it shows more often when entering the launchpad, it does not go completely freezes in the middle of the open windows and the launchpad (must go out and do the gesture again to enter the launchpad), and the launchpad to move from one space to another is exactly the same, it stays in the middle and you have to re-do the gesture on the trackpad to successfully pass from one space to another .
the funny thing is that when I use launcher dock does not happen, go to the launchpad fluently.
