Microsoft jdbc sp2 datasource

I created cmp ejb mapped to Microsoft SQL 2000 table.
While setting connectivity with application server the wizard failed to recognize datasource class(several times), so I provided the name from documentation.
After I created test application and invoked create(...) method it produced the following.
Following is the stack trace:
java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is: java.rmi.RemoteException: nested exception is: com.sun.jdo.api.persistence.support.JDOFatalInternalException: Failed to get the vendor type for the data store. NestedException: java.sql.SQLException: com.sun.enterprise.repository.J2EEResourceException java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: setURL; nested exception is: com.sun.jdo.api.persistence.support.JDOFatalInternalException: Failed to get the vendor type for the data store.
Smth like the above is produced by findAll() method.
Does Microsoft jdbc sp2 work with app server?

I did create all the data store, persistent manager, added JDBC driver for MySQL to the server instance using IDE (Properties for server instance has class path option). I also copied and pasted driver into ilb and lib/ext folders in desparation but i keep geting above mentioned errors. I feel there is more to this problem. Can anyone help me on this.
Thanks in advance

  • Websphere 6.0 DataSource, Microsoft JDBC driver

    I am trying to configure a DataSource using Websphere 6.0 and Microsoft's JDBC Driver for SQL Server 2000.
    I am configuring a V4 DataSource (not a V6 DataSource).
    After configuring the JDBC Provider and the DataSource, the Test Connection operation generates this message:
    DSRA8101E: DataSource class cannot be used as one-phase:
    ClassCastException: com/microsoft/jdbc/sqlserver/SQLServerDriver incompatible with javax/sql/ConnectionPoolDataSource,
    error code: NOT_A_1_PHASE_DS
    How can I fix this? Is anybody using Microsofts JDBC driver and Websphere 6.0?

    looks like it's a problem between single phase and two-phase commit drivers. They're different, of course. there are extra steps required to get SQL Server to participate in 2 phase XA.
    I know how to do it in WebLogic. Not sure about WebSphere.

    Hi All,
    I have created an Entity Bean to connect to my Database...when i use the inbuilt OC4J instance of JDeveloper my client application can easily connect to the database using tis Beab....But while using an external oc4j server downloaded explicitly...it says...
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    I have already set the classpath for msbase.jar, mssqlserver.jar and msutils.jar files....
    even then i am facing the same problem...
    Please help me out....its very urgent....
    Thanx in advance to all....

    Using the Enterprise Manager web interface navigate to the 'Administration' tab.
    Under 'Administrative Tasks' -> 'Properties' you should find Shared libraries. Be SURE that your libraries are in fact located there.
    I'm assuming you have also set up Datasources and connections pools for your database? Verify that they are showing the correct SQL Server driver class.
    Hope this points you in the right direction!

  • Porblem loading Microsoft JDBC Driver for SQL Server

    Hi all !!
    Well, it seems there is a naming problem for the MS Driver, when Netbeans creates server resources for the Connection Pool and the DataSource, the default name for the connection pool's datasource classname is com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource, but the actual name of the class within the driver's jar is com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource, note the 'x' after jdbc.
    I changed this and the resource is created correctly (from the admin console, it pings to the DB server), but when I try to deploy the project, I get this error:
    RAR5038:Unexpected exception while creating resource
    RAR5117 : Failed to obtain/create connection. Reason : Class name is wrong or classpath is not set for : com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource
    RAR5114 : Error allocating connection : [Error in allocating a connection. Cause: Class name is wrong or classpath is not set for : com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource]
    WebModule[WebApplication2]java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: Class name is wrong or classpath is not set for : com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource
    java.lang.RuntimeException: java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: Class name is wrong or classpath is not set for : com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource
    I guess I must change the name of the classname in some other place, but I searched the admin colsole and Netbeans and failed to find where it should be.
    I'm using Netbeans 5.5 and SQL Server 200 with the MS JDBC Driver sp 3.
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel

    Thanks for your answer !!
    Yes, the datasource classname is correct in domains.xml.
    I had the driver files copied into Appserver/lib, now I placed them also where you suggested me and restarted the server.
    Now I get a different error:

    I guess it may have something to do with any of the classpathes, there is a system or environment CP, one for the App server (with prefixes, suffixes, etc, and there is another in the Netbeans IDE tools Options....
    I also tried to debug into java.io.WinNTFileSystem.canonicalize0(Native Method) just to see the name of the file who raised the exception, but I couldn't attach the BPEL debugger, it gives me this error:

  • Setting up Microsoft SQL Server datasource in Websphere 4.0

    Does anyone know how to setup an SQL Server jdbc driver in Websphere 4.0? I am using jdbc driver from jTurbo. But I am having trouble specifying the proper URL and other datasource settings in Websphere 4.0 (or WTE) server configuration.

    Hi,
    Please find the extract from jTurbo site (http://www.newatlanta.com/support/jturbo/third-party.jsp#WebSphere)
    which will explain the steps to follow for setting up Microsoft SQL Server datasource
    in Websphere 4.0 using jTurbo jdbc driver.
    1.Always make sure the JTurbo.jar is set in your classpath.
    2.Started "WebSphere Admin Server"
    3.Open "WebSphere Administrative Console"
    4.Install the JTurbo Driver into WAS by modifying the following field of "Admin DB Driver"
    Name: JTurbo
    Class Name: com.ashna.jturbo.driver.Driver
    URL prefix: jdbc:JTurbo://localhost/pubs
    JTA Enabled: false
    (apply changes which resulted in the installation of JTurbo Driver)
    5.Selected "Create Data Source" in Console "Wizards" drop down
    6.Selected "Use an already installed JDBC Driver" JDBC Option
    7.Specified "my ds name" as the "Data Source Name"
    Specified "pubs" as the "Database Name" pull down is showing "JTurbo"
    This should sucessfully create a new data source by the name of "my ds name".
    Also there is an excellent document on "Configuring the Merant ConnectJDBC data source for MS SQL Server for the WebSphere Application Server Advanced Single Server Edition" at http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v40/ae/infocenter/was/was402/rn112253.4.html .
    Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Access denial on connecting SQL server 2000 with Microsoft JDBC driver

    Hi guys,
    I am developping a BMP invoking procedures stored in a SQL server 2000 instance on the Sun RI platform. I am using the Microsoft type 4 JDBC driver.
    the connection pattern is something like
    jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://ambassador:1433;User=sa;Password;DataBase=Forethought;SelectMethod=cursor
    An type-like "access denied" exception is raised when trying to get the connection from the DataSource object with some code similar to :
    DataSource objDS = (DataSource)objCtx.lookup("jdbc/Forethought");
    Connection objConn = ds.getConnection();
    I have realised a CMP to access the database and everything works fine.
    It seems that the SunRI tries to get the db connection with an "impersonated " user even if i have specified the user name and password in the connection string.
    Does anyone have an idea how to force the connection with SQL Server user name and password ??

    I come accorss the same problem too,
    my URL jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://ambassador:1433;User=sa;Password=123;DatabaseName=pubs
    and the password is right.I can establish connection to SQL server 2000 by JDBC Driver Manager,the code as follow:
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
    ("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;User=sa;Password=123");

  • Com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver No ResultSet set was produced.

    While executing a stored procedure which returns an integer value is giving the following Exception.
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer JDBC Driver]No ResultSet set was produced.
    fdgfgdfgfdgfdgfdgfdg com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver@639a3e

    callablestatement1.setString(1, s);
    callablestatement1.execute();
    ResultSet resultset = callablestatement1.getResultSet();
    The result set returned is always null.
    But if I use sun.Jdbc.Odbc driver it works.
    Any Idea?

    Try first to call getNextResultSet() method and than read from resultset...i don't have a loginc exp..but seems ot me is working

    hi all!!
    I don't know what's happens, so I hope you can help me...
    I try to connect with a jsp-Application a ms sql server over jdbc.
    At microsoft.com, I found a jdbc-driver for the spezific sql server and I install it.
    So after that I tried different ways to connect the server but every time it fails...
    I seams, that the package com.microsoft.jdbc. etc were missing, because my ide doesen't highlight such one package...
    So what do you mean...
    Over odbc my application runs fine, but that's not the requirements...
    It should run with an direct connection to the server...
    thx

    Dear all

    error occur:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:com.microsoft.jdbc.sql
    erver.SQLServerDriver
    i am using jdk1.2.2
    hope to get your tips!
    Lukehi Luke,
    I dont know if it is in someway related to ur jdk version..
    but your error message seems to be
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:com.microsoft.jdbc.sql
    erver.SQLServerDriver
    Plz consider this possibility if
    u might have given the classname wrong as
    com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlerver.SQLServerDriver
    which throws the exception as shown in the error message!!
    try giving the correct classname as com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    which may solve your problem..
    cheers,

  • Com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver and ntext,text

    I'm using the com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver driver with SQL2000. In my table I have one ntext(i dont mind changing this to text datatype) column and to retrieve the data I'm using getAsciiStream(colname). I also tried getCharacterStream(colname).
    Even though I have data in the table, the method restult.getAsciiStream() brings nothing. I need some help in knowing how to retrieve the data when using ntext or text datatype in SQL server.
    Also I need some smaple code of how to write the data back to the table.

    Have you tried getString() ?
    I remember using this method once to read an ntext field from a MSSQL2K db. If you explicitly need a stream I recomend you to try a binary stream, binary streams works most of the time, then wrap it in a Reader.

    Rivas.
