Microsoft office 2011 downloading issue for version 14.3.9, not fully download or installing

Hello all,
So over the last couple of month for some reason my IMac, mid 2011 has been having problems with the software I use on a regular basis.  Microsoft Office Mac 2011 has been acting up, only the word app is malfunctioning.  If you were typing a paper it would automatically stop and the program itself would act like you are on a different window, so you would have to click on the page you were typing on to continue writing a paper.  I had even noticed this in Safari where I would have to search for what ever topic I was looking for for a school paper and halfway through the typing in the URL box you would have to click on the page opened and retype everything into the URL box.  I have gone through the disk utility and there seems to be a couple of problems with one program and many this not being what they are supposed to be I will continue this until I can get more ideas throughout the discussion.  Office update 14.3.9 starts to download but three-quarters of the way it restarts and searches for the update again.  This has happened at least the last 8 times, even after doing through disk utility.  No I do not have a time capsule or anything, but I will be getting something towards the end of the week to back  up my files and such.   Does anyone have any ideas that could possibly help the malfunction of this.  I love this mac and was surprise that this problem was encountered, kind of having to use my PC for some applications for my classes and would love to be able to use the mac again. Any suggestions or ideas, are greatly apprieciated.

Alright since I have posted this and not hearing from anyone I went ahead and took it to the Apple store after buying a external sotrage for my time machine (pretty cool deal, I think).  Only to find out that noting is wrong when they hooked it up and kept it for two days to see if anyhting else was wrong (saved some money everything was free).  Funny thing is when I was explaining what I was experiencing everything worked fine at the store, it even downloaded the update for microsoft word 2011.  Went onto the internet and nothing happened, even opened up word and typed for a while and nothing happened either unti I got home again and it all started again.  I am still confused so since then I bought a new router thinking that was the problem.  Nope.  stilling doing it so I researched more and found out that it could be something in my user profile that is causing the issue and possiblity of my internet connection which is DSL, and everything was working fine prior to the issue at hand.  So I set up another account on the mac and surfed the web, could not do word though becuase it is only in my wife and I's accounts.  So I will have to try that out.  But everything worked fine net document ans such.  I have been trying to figure out what software could be posing the problem.  I want to unistall but am afriad to do so I have reinstalled office for mac 2011 before I brought it into the Apple store, and have deleted some app games from the system and its still is doing the same thing.  A coworker asked what types of keyboards and mouses. I am using to include my trackpad which is only turn on if the mouse battery dies on me. All my gear is bluetoothed based except for the external harddrive which is usb and a second monitor.  I will have to do more researching, but if anyone has any ideas on what I can do more I would love to fix this issue soon.

Yes.  I ran it successfully on Mountain Lion and had no problems when I upgraded to Mavericks.  Be sure to apply the latest software updates.

  • Microsoft Office 2011 Compatibility Issue

I have experienced problems with Microsoft Office since upgrading to Mavericks -- specifically Word, which is the only Office application that I use regularly. Since upgrading, Word crashes when I go to open (most, although not all) existing Word files.
The "Problem Report for Microsoft Word" message I get is as follows:
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x000000001cbd6000
Notably, this problem only affects my primary workstation, which is a Mac Pro 2 x 2.8 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon desktop system. I don't seem to have the problem on my (2011) Macbook Pro.
I have already downloaded the Microsoft Office 2011 Suite and reinstalled it. No help. Thoughts? This is fairly annoying and at times debilitating.
    Thanks -- Keith.

Thanks Varjak. I'm willing to download and reinstall Office again, but I'm not sure what "support files" you're referencing here. Please advise.
Also, I do not use Font Book, I use Linotype Font Explorer X Pro. I regularly delete font caches and remove duplicate fonts, etc.
While you may not be experiencing any issues with Office in Mavericks on your systems, problems aren't unique to me. There are other discussions on Apple Forums. Here's one conclusion:

It is a widespread issue and yes there are problems with Office 2011 but Microsoft will not address them.
I believe I have a better chance of solving the problem by querying other Apple users who work in a similar environment.
    Thanks.

    Hi Attila528,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not able to receive a rescue email to reset your security questions and password:
You'll need to contact iTunes Store support to have your questions and answers reset.
You can find the article with this information here:
Rescue email address and how to reset Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
After your password, security questions and answers are reset, I'd recommend providing a new rescue email address:
You can edit or delete your rescue email address at My Apple ID. To edit your rescue email address:
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • Microsoft Office 2011 Font Issues with Yosemite Upgrade

My firm's standard font (Din) is no longer recognized by Microsoft Office applications, as it was with Mavericks and previous. Thinking it was a font issue, I tested out TTF and OTF files with no luck. Has anyone been experiencing font problems and is there a workaround?

And is any difference (I mean in quality) between 2011 Microsoft offices to upgrades 2008 office? or they will be same?
The quality will be the same. The quantity might be different. The special upgrade promotion offer is for will allow you to download Office 2011. Sometimes, to reduce the file size, the downloaded version doesn't come with all the extras that the CD version does.
I think the licensing is the biggest hassle. When you need to reinstall, you enter your license key and then it may ask for your Office 2008 license key too. Sometimes the installer will try to scan your disk to make sure you have installed the old version too.
Of course, all of this is just speculation on my part based on past experiences with similar products. The full version will be available in four weeks. I already have Office 2008 and plan to upgrade as soon as I can.

  • When firefox trys to auto update, or I manually download the new version, or some but not all downloads off of the web, I get this error message. C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.

First off, when firefox trys to auto update, it fails. It tells me to try and download the new version from mozilla's site. When I try to download the new version I get this: (C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.)
This is the same message I have been getting when I try to download other things off the net. (When I use other browsers to download I dont have this problem)

    Please help.
    It is getting worse
Adobe flash player is crashing. I already uninstalled and re installed the latest ver. Also it is hanging randomly.

  • How do I fix formatting errors in Open Office after downloading Microsoft Office 2011 on my mac?

I have used Open Office for almost 2 years. I recently downloaded Microsoft Office 2011 and now, not only can I not use Open office due to formatting issues, I cannot read any of my documents that were saved in Open Office unless I open them in TextEdit or copy and paste into microsoft word. Does any know of any solutions to this problem?? I tried deleting Microsoft office but that did not fix the issue. This is my first mac... and I love Open Office and prefer it over microsoft...

    Crabtree1234,
    Try this:
    Install LibreOffice (https://www.libreoffice.org/)
    Open your OpenOffice document(s)
Do a "Save As" and choose "Word Document (.docx)"
Then try opening them in Word.  LibreOffice is mostly the same as OpenOffce but LibreOffice has support for saving .docx files.  Here is more about the crazy history of the relationship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice).
This may or may not help with the formatting as any conversion of one document format to another is bound to cause issues.
    Good luck.

...since upgrading from a Macbook pro to a retina pro (with the latest OS) I cannot get Outlook to work, it freezes when I try to add my email accounts info...
The latest OS is 10.8.2. You've posted in the Lion (OS 10.7.x) forum.
...I don't have a clue what can be going wrong, it was all working fine on my macbook pro with Snow Leopard and the same setup is not working with Mountain Lion on the retina, ...The only reason I upgraded from Office 2008 was because I couldn't get it to stop closing down every few seconds with 'a problem'...
Different operating systems canNOT be the "same setup."
In my original installation of Office 2011 on a 2007 MBP with OS 10.6.8, I followed the guidelines Tips for a Successful Install. In launching Outlook 2011 for the first time, it recognized that I had Entourage 2004 and I was chose the option to have all the data transferred to Outlook 2011. While that was well over a year ago, I'm fairly certain that I did not need to manually set up my multitude of existing email accounts. Subsequently, I've added new accounts. A couple of months ago, I got a new mid-2012 MBP (non-retina) with OS 10.7.4. I used Pondini's advice , which I found here in the Apple Support Community for OS 10.7, to setup the new MBP from the old MBP with Setup Assistant. Afterwards, I manually installed my applications. I am certain that I did not need to manually setup any email accounts when I launched Outlook 2011.
That said, if you did not fix the problem that you were experiencing with Office 2008 (and more specifically Entourgage 2008) but migrated that data to your new rMBR, then your problem may lie within the old data. You have not provided information on how you installed Office 2011, if your setup of Outlook is as new or datea ported from Entourage, and what troubleshooting steps you have tried. As Kurt Lang suggested, the Microsoft Community would be best with your specific issues as stated.

  • Trial version of Microsoft Office 2011 Home and Student

Where do I go to online to download a free trial version of Microsoft Office 2011 Home and Student? I need to enter in an access key because my MacBook Air doesn't have a CD drive.

Look on the MS Office 365 website for links to the download version. You could also buy an External DVD drive that connects by USB port. Any brand will work with your Mac Air. It does not have to have the Apple name on it for it to work on your Air.

    Hi Raghavendar,
Generally, when you install Lync 2013 in the computer with Office 2010, a Lync Meeting Add-in will be installed and enabled in Outlook 2010. Please follow these steps to check it:
    1. In Outlook, click the File tab, click Options, and then click
    Add-Ins.
    2. Please take one of the following actions:
If the add-in is in the Inactive Application Add-ins list, follow these steps:
    a. In the Manage drop-down list at the bottom of the dialog box, click
COM Add-ins, and then click Go.
    b. Click to select the check box next to the add-in, and then click OK.
The New Online Meeting button should now be available in
Calendar View, and the Online Meeting button should be available when you create a new calendar item.
If the add-in is in the Disabled Application add-ins list, follow these steps:
    a. In the Manage drop-down list at the bottom of the dialog box, click
Disabled Items, and then click Go.
    b. Select the add-in, and then click Enable.
    c. Restart Outlook, and then verify that the add-in is displayed in the
    Add-ins dialog box.
The New Online Meeting button should now be available in
Calendar View, and the Online Meeting button should now be available when you create a new calendar item.
    3. In Event Viewer, view the Application log to see whether an error was logged for Outlook, for Lync 2013, the Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013.

  • So when I installed the most recent updates for microsoft office 2011 for mac, my ical info disappeared.  Still have the info on my Office calendar but it's no longer on ical.  It's also been removed from my phone.  How can I get outlook to sync with ical

When I installed the recent updates for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, my iCal calendar was wiped out, as was the calendar on my iPhone.  I'd rather use iCal than Office and was attempting to phase Office out altogether.  Now, all of my information is on the Office calendar but not iCal.  The iCloud version of my iCal calendar is not up to date.  In any event, I couldn't figure out how to send that info to the iCal on my mac or my phone.  How can I sync my Office calendar info to iCal?  If that's not possible, how can I get my Office calendar to sync with my iPhone?  All of my sync services are set up in iTunes and on my phone.  This happened to me once before and I spent hours on the phone with Apple and on the web trying to work it out.  I NEED MY CALENDAR!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

As that's not an Apple product, you may get more help by using Microsoft's Office for Mac forums:

The other concern I have is that Office 2011 requires an Intel-based Mac and you posted in the older iMac (pre-Intel or "PPC") forums. If you have an Intel-based iMac (Apple menu > About this Mac..." will say "Intel" if you do) then I think you'll get faster and more accurate ansers to other questiosn in the Apple forums for newer iMacs here:

Easiest way with Acrobat pro, is save the Word document, then convert the document to PDF with Acrobat, rather than doing a "save as" in Word itself to PDF.
Do you have Acrobat full version or Pro?

  • I am using Microsoft office 2011 for mac, publisher is not included, meanwhile I have publisher files saved from windows, is there any recommended software I can install on the mac so that I can open the files?

How can I be able to use my Windows publisher files on my Mac computer, since Microsoft office 2011 for Mac doesn't have Publisher? What's most recommended software to use for this purpose?

Just an FYI here Allan, and clinton.
Version 4.0 or newer of Libre Office can open and edit Publisher files, this is fairly new, you may not have noticed it yet,
I tested it last week for another OP, it works very well, so finally there is a Mac application that can replace Publisher.

    Hello,
There are some Microsoft product like Windows Phone 7 Connector on the Mac App Store but for the moment Office is not there.
In an interview last year Microsoft’s Amanda Lefebvre told Mobilized : “It’s something we are looking at”.

If you have applications like iWork or the free OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/) you will be able to read files created by Microsoft Office.
