Microsoft office installed on server

do you require Microsoft office installed on server for it to work and use reports viewed in excel??

Are you trying to install Office Web Apps 2013 on the same server as SharePoint Server 2013? Sorry I could not figured that part from your post. If you are installing OWA on SP 2013 server then it is not possible in SP 2013. You will need to install OWA
on different server where SharePoint is not installed. Basically a dedicated OWA server(s).

  • Installing Microsoft Office on Windows Server 2008 R2

Can I install Microsoft Office on Windows Server 2008 R2?
I'm not trying to use this installation from client machines, I just want to use this installation from the same machine.
It's a Home LAN, I need to develop some applications, but basically, the server should be used as any other machine by any member of the family.
Each machine will have it's own suite of Office Applications. It's just 3 machines
Believe you can do it, and you will!!

Yes, I've done that successfully, but I use the Volume Licensing edition (Professional Plus).

If you have a Retail edition, it might not be as successful...

  • Does the Ipad mini w/ retina display offer the ability to have microsoft office installed?

Can the ipad mini have the ability to have microsoft office installed? Looking at possibly purchasing one for school.

There are a number of apps that are compatible with Office documents. As UK-Max said, Apple makes iOS versions of their own iWork apps (Pages, Keynote, Numbers) which will be free with the purchase any new iPad; they can be purchased separately for older iPads. There are also 3rd party combined suites that cost less than the separate Apple apps. Ones often recommended include Documents 2 Go,  Quickoffice and Office2 HD.
If you can accept needing a network connection whenever you want to use the apps and have an Office 365 subscription, Microsoft has just released their Office Mobile app, though it has significant limitations. Or a server-based solution such as CloudOn might be an option for you.

  • HT2518 My daughter has to go from a PC at school to our Mac. We have Microsoft office installed on the Mac and she uses Word and PowerPoint and prints them. What we need is the how-to to moves the files to a flash drive so she can use them at schools, PC.

Our IMac has Microsoft Office installed so my daughter can do homework. The problem we have is moving files to a travel drive to take work to school to use on the school computer (PC). How do we do it?

The Mac's Finder is the same thing as the Windows Explorer. Insert your Flash drive and you will see it become available in the sidebar of a Finder window under "Devices." If it does not appear here then try going to the Finder menu, select Preferences, and then in the Sidebar section checkthe option to include "External disks" in the sidebar (you can also check the option in the General section to have disks show on the Desktop).
When this is done, you can then drag any file from any accessible location in the Finder to the disk device in the sidebar and have it copy to the disk. You can also select items (use the Command and Shift keys in selecting to select more than one item) and then press Command-C to "Copy" followed by going to the disk, opening it, and pressing Command-V to paste the items to the disk and effectively copy them that way.
When finished select the disk and press Command-E to eject it, which can also be done by right-clicking it and choosing Eject, dragging it to the Trash from the Desktop, or by clicking the little Eject button that appears when you hover your mouse over the drive in the sidebar.

  • I had Microsoft Office installed in my Macbook Air by one of the technicians in the store, it was working fine the first week but after that it started popping a notice saying it cannot verify my suscription online and now I cannot open any documents?

I just bought a Macbook Air almost a month now. When I bought it, the technician installed Microsoft Office 365 as they were having a promotion at the time. However after a week of using it, it started popping up a notice saying that it cannot verify Microsoft Office. I still managed to open the word document but as of today, it will not open. I took it to the Mac store last week, and they said that there was nothing wrong with it and they could not figure out any problem.
I don't know what to do and I am in desperate need of help. I cannot open my documents at all and I have my research paper that I need to finish writing. This is very disappointing and extremely stressful for me. If anyone has any suggestions of how this can be fixed, please let me know. I do not want to lose my hard work =(

Microsoft Office 365 is a subscription - based service. You have to pay for it... and keep paying for it... and paying for it... as in 365 days a year... or lose your hard work.
Office Home Premium is a mere $10 a month, but a convenient annual subscription is only $100 a year. This is a substantial discount to Microsoft's Office 365 business products ($150 / employee / year).
Such a deal! Are you not absolutely thrilled?
Here are some slightly more reasonable alternatives, all of which are compatible with their Office equivalents:
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free if you can find it)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
    Numbers ($19.99)
    Pages ($19.99)

  • Microsoft Office install

How do I install Microsoft Office on my MacBook Air?

If you are referring to MS Office 2011, MS now offers a download.

  • Will Microsoft office install on a diffrent system from its original installed system.

Hey helpers, I've installed Microsoft office 2011 (1 user) as soon as I brought my iMac( OS X was snow leopard 10.6) but then I installed mountain lion but accidentally installed a virus and my virus scanner didn't detect it so I had to ( my only choice) delete all my files, now I'm reinstalling mountain lion but was worried about that it would not install because the Microsoft office would not recognise it is the same exact mac except for the OS. Do I have to buy a new Microsoft office again?......Or can I just reinstalled it, I know some users will think why don't  I just try it out after it installed but I'm having finance issues and I need the Microsoft off really bad, Please help!

No,  you don't have to buy it again. Install it, enter your license code.
BTW, there are no OS X viruses. See:
    Helpful Links Regarding Virus Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on malware.
For general anti-virus protection I recommend using ClamXav.

  • Flash Fixed: Now XCLS thinks I don't have Microsoft Office installed (?)

Note: I changed the subject because I didn't want to spam the board with a 2nd topic.
UPDATE: So I fixed the flash issue; apparently having the universal flash installer installed is different from the dedicated IE activex flash installer. So now that I get past that, it now says I need Office XP or later installed (I currently am running Office 2010).
I was really looking forward to trying this out but the hassle of getting this working is starting to become ridiculous. =/
    Original Thread:
Adobe's Flash Version Tester shows me running WIN 10,1,82,76. However, when I go to install Xcelsius Present I receive the error message:
"SAP BusinessObjects Xcelsius 2008 requires Adobe Flash Player (9,151 or later). You must install the Flash Player using Internet Explorer from www.adobe.com before installing Xcelsius.
The installation then cancels, citing premature ending because of an error.
I am pretty eager to try Xcelsius out as it seems it would be really useful, but I am at a loss as to why it wont install when I have flash 10.1 on this machine.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Vivek
Rather than adding the ghost entry, I resolved this issue by uninstalling Xcelsius and reinstalling Xcelsius 2008 SP3 using the Custom method.  I added the SDK option since it was unchecked by default.  The installation ran as expected.  I am now able to grab the xcelsiusframework.swc from the installation directory and use it in Flex Builder to create custom Xcelsius components.
Let me know if you have resolved your issue.

  • Windows 7 and Microsoft Office installed a series of updates and now I cannot open hyperlinks in emails.

After my system rebooted and I opened my emails in outlook, when I clicked on a hyperlink, it brought me no where. I did not get an error message. I went back in and set Firefox to my default program with all extensions and protocols for Firefox. However, when I click a hyperlink in an email, it still does not open in Firefox. What little trick has IE and Microsoft done now to change my system. Until I updated some files today, hyperlinks in emails opened in Firefox. Please Help. I hate IE!

Windows does not know that it should start Firefox to open those links.
Try this first. Start IE (yes I know) and set it as the default browser. After
close IE. Wait a few moments, then start Firefox. Then set FF as your default.

  • If I have Microsoft Office installed on my computer and I upgrade the OS, will I lose that program?

I downloaded Office using an internet purchase through school and am not sure if I have the capabilities to log back in to download it since I graduated.  I want to upgrade to the new operating system, but do not want to have to purchase Office again. Thank you!

You should not lose the program, but make sure you have the installation code as you may have to re-enter it to activate Office after the upgrade.

  • Is it possible to Install the 64-bit Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 if we are running Microsoft Office 2010 32-bit?

So we are running Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, Version 14.0.7015.1000
    (32-bit)
This is what is installed via our Network and Network licensing.
I am trying, in vain, to read and write a .xlsx file via a C# Edit Script in a SSIS Package. And I have tried using...
    string StringConnection = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=" + sourceFile + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 12.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1\"";
And this tells me that this has not been installed. So when I go and try and get the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 64-bit, which would allow me to use Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 and allow me to read, write, and process this .xlsx file, it tells me
I cannot install it because I already have 32-bit installed and it wants me to un-install Microsoft Office 2010. Why? Because it is 32-bit? And I can't do that because this is what we have and what we're licensed for and from what I've read seems to be the
industry standard because most software vendors are ill equipped to process 64-bit right now.
So my question is this...How can I use a C# Edit Script to read and process a .xlsx file? Because if I try using...
    string StringConnection = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + sourceFile + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 8.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1\"";
It then tells me that the file is not in that format.
Please excuse me for asking this question in a couple of different ways out here but I cannot for the life of me seem to be able to get an answer as to how I can process a .xlsx file with a C# script and which driver to use that will make this work.
Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.
    ITBobbyP85

    Hi ITBobby85,
If the excel version in the Connection Manager is Microsoft Excel 2010 (.xlsx), we should use Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB provider.
We can't install 32bit and 64bit parts of office on the same machine. We will get an error as you said when we run the installer to install the 64bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable in the machine where a 32bit version
of Microsoft Office installed. To fix this issue, please download and install the 32bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable with the link below:

  • Microsoft Office Licensing approach

Hello again...this forum has proven invaluable for getting our server up and running for our small school! thanks again!
I know much if not all of the answers to these questions can be found by reading the server docs and other material but something about "talking" with someone makes the process so much easier to understand (hence the reason for forums!)
    1) We have ten machines in our lab which have Microsoft Office installed through individual licenses.
    2) I have the ten machines connected to the server...the office apps are placed in the student docks through WGM...when a student logs on and first launches any of the office apps (Word, PowerPoint or Excel), the "Microsoft Office Setup Assistant" dialog box pops up asking whether we want to set up an Office Identity. We can simply click continue through the various screens and finally get to the update screen where we set to "manual" and then quit.
    3) After that process, when that student goes to log on, there is no setup assistant anymore.
    4) Is this a process we need to go through for every student when they launch Office for the first time under their profile?
    5) I'm certain there is a better method of accomplishing this but this is where we are for now...
    6) I'll continue to have students go through the setup assistant in the meantime until I figure out the correct procedures
    7) Thanks!

  • Local Microsoft Office version

    Hi pros! :)
Just some questions regarding BIEE and Office, hope you could help me out.. :)
    1. I'd just like to clarify, if I were to download a report from the Presentation Services, am I required to have Microsoft Office installed locally? I mean do I need the Office apps installed on my computer before I download the report? Or is it okay to download a report without the apps, though I need them to actually view the downloaded reports?
    2. If I had Excel 2007 on my computer, and the server has 2000, which version does it follow when I download a report?
Sorry, I'm still getting a hang of all the technicalities of BIEE..thanks so much in advance! :)

I understand that and in most cases it's fine to have large datasets in OBIEE. I think the issue is, if you drill down and get to a 65k dataset, there is absolutely no chance 65k rows are going to give any meaning information. Our brains are not that big to process that much information. Most likely the users will use Excel to filter, pivot, summary, etc the data to get the answers they want. My point is that we need to educate users on how to use OBIEE to get the data they want, in the majority of the cases it can do most things that Excel do but we the advantage that data can be refreshed automatically, the report can be scheduled, shared, it runs on know data set, etc. Only in few cases it makes sense to export data out of OBIEE, such as Powerpoint presentations, advanced Excel charts or advanced data manipulation (which you should look to do in your DWH anyway).

  • Using Microsoft Office across Airport

We recently switched back to using Microsoft Office as our main publication software at our school (were on Appleworks and iWork). Office works fine and quick with any hard wired computers when the students log in, but when they go to the laptop it takes 15-20+ minutes for Office to open.
Is this an Airport issue or where can I turn to find a solution so we can get the kids productive on the laptops.
    Thanks

Microsoft Office uses Server Message Block (SMB) protocol when communicating over a network, regardless of whether the network is wired (Ethernet) or wireless. SMB, by design, is very "chatty" and carries a fairly large overhead...which tends to degrade performance with an increase in network nodes.
I am assuming that each of the student's computers have Microsoft Office installed on their local hard drive and that they need to access Office documents from a file server or some other network device like a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device.
You've posted in the AirPort Express Discussions area, so I will also assume that your wireless network has one or more AirPort Express Base Stations (AX). If you have more than one, are they configured in either a Wireless Distribution System (WDS) or a "roaming" network? Is this just a Local Area Network (LAN) or part of a larger Wide Area Network (WAN) that the school uses?
Since you're experiencing problems when using wireless, it is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference in the immediate area that is preventing your AX(s) from getting a good clean signal.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like the following to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible:
    For Macs:
    o KisMAC
    o MacStumbler
    o iStumbler, or
    o IPNetMonitorX
    For PCs:
    o NetStumbler
    o WiFi Hopper
    o WiFi Owl
    o WiFi Manager
