Will Microsoft office install on a diffrent system from its original installed system.

Hey helpers, I've installed Microsoft office 2011 (1 user) as soon as I brought my iMac( OS X was snow leopard 10.6) but then I installed mountain lion but accidentally installed a virus and my virus scanner didn't detect it so I had to ( my only choice) delete all my files, now I'm reinstalling mountain lion but was worried about that it would not install because the Microsoft office would not recognise it is the same exact mac except for the OS. Do I have to buy a new Microsoft office again?......Or can I just reinstalled it, I know some users will think why don't  I just try it out after it installed but I'm having finance issues and I need the Microsoft off really bad, Please help!

No,  you don't have to buy it again. Install it, enter your license code.
BTW, there are no OS X viruses. See:

An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on malware.
For general anti-virus protection I recommend using ClamXav.

Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?
Any computer is compatible as long as it can read and write Office files. But for perfect (or at least near perfect) compatibility, you would want to purchase Office 2011 for Mac.
How can I transport from Windows to Mac?
You can't directly transport any installation of Windows. All PC's come with a machine specific version of Windows intended for that PC. They don't have all of the hardware drivers the retail disks cover.
If you want Windows on your Mac, you would first purchase a full version copy (NOT an upgrade disk) of Windows 7 or 8. Those are the only supported versions on newer Macs. You install it through the supplied Boot Camp utility that comes with the Mac to create a new partition for Windows, and then install the retail copy of Windows you purchased.
The reason only these versions of Windows are supported is the same basic reason as a machine specific version of Windows for a PC. Apple only includes the necessary Mac hardware drivers for Win 7 or 8 on new Macs.
Once Windows is installed, you could then install the version of Office for Windows you already own. The nuisance of a Boot Camp partition is that you have to physically boot to either Windows or OS X, so you can only use the apps of the OS you're in at the time. To use both at once, you'd have to use virtual machine software (Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox) and then install Windows within that. Then you'd be able to run Windows inside of OS X and have access to both at the same time.

  • Microsoft office installed on server

do you require Microsoft office installed on server for it to work and use reports viewed in excel??

Are you trying to install Office Web Apps 2013 on the same server as SharePoint Server 2013? Sorry I could not figured that part from your post. If you are installing OWA on SP 2013 server then it is not possible in SP 2013. You will need to install OWA
on different server where SharePoint is not installed. Basically a dedicated OWA server(s).

Will Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) work on OS 10.9.2 aka Mavericks?

    Did you restart after updating?
Have you tested in a new User to see if you have the same problems?
If you want to do a complete removal and re-install see:

Did you delete duplicate fonts installed by Office 2011? This is often a source for crashes.

  • HT2518 My daughter has to go from a PC at school to our Mac. We have Microsoft office installed on the Mac and she uses Word and PowerPoint and prints them. What we need is the how-to to moves the files to a flash drive so she can use them at schools, PC.

Our IMac has Microsoft Office installed so my daughter can do homework. The problem we have is moving files to a travel drive to take work to school to use on the school computer (PC). How do we do it?

The Mac's Finder is the same thing as the Windows Explorer. Insert your Flash drive and you will see it become available in the sidebar of a Finder window under "Devices." If it does not appear here then try going to the Finder menu, select Preferences, and then in the Sidebar section checkthe option to include "External disks" in the sidebar (you can also check the option in the General section to have disks show on the Desktop).
When this is done, you can then drag any file from any accessible location in the Finder to the disk device in the sidebar and have it copy to the disk. You can also select items (use the Command and Shift keys in selecting to select more than one item) and then press Command-C to "Copy" followed by going to the disk, opening it, and pressing Command-V to paste the items to the disk and effectively copy them that way.
When finished select the disk and press Command-E to eject it, which can also be done by right-clicking it and choosing Eject, dragging it to the Trash from the Desktop, or by clicking the little Eject button that appears when you hover your mouse over the drive in the sidebar.

  • Does the Ipad mini w/ retina display offer the ability to have microsoft office installed?

Can the ipad mini have the ability to have microsoft office installed? Looking at possibly purchasing one for school.

There are a number of apps that are compatible with Office documents. As UK-Max said, Apple makes iOS versions of their own iWork apps (Pages, Keynote, Numbers) which will be free with the purchase any new iPad; they can be purchased separately for older iPads. There are also 3rd party combined suites that cost less than the separate Apple apps. Ones often recommended include Documents 2 Go,  Quickoffice and Office2 HD.
If you can accept needing a network connection whenever you want to use the apps and have an Office 365 subscription, Microsoft has just released their Office Mobile app, though it has significant limitations. Or a server-based solution such as CloudOn might be an option for you.
    Regards.

Office for Mac, http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products, can open/edit/create Office documents. If your external drive is formatted NTFS then you can copy the Office documents to your computer and work on them. You won't be able to save the files back to your NTFS formatted drive. But you will be able to save the documents to your internal drive. You can move all the external files to your internal drive then format the external drive for Apple. Then you can copy the files back to your external drive for ongoing use.

  • Will microsoft office 2011 work with lion

Will Microsoft Office 2011 work on my Mac?  (OS X Lion)

well considering it's worked on Lion for over a year, I'd say yes.

Will Microsoft Office 2001 work with the Lion upgrade?
Will one have to reinstall after the Lion upgrade?

Office 2001 will not work with Lion. That is a Power PC App which is no longer supprted in Lion. You should upgrade to Office 2011, Apple iWork, or Open Office.

will microsoft office for mac 2004 transfer from my emac running 10.4.11 to the new iMac running mountain lion using migration assistant?

Microsoft Office 2004 will not work on any Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion. You will need to upgrade to Office 2011, buy the less expensive iWork apps from the App Store or use a free office clone like OpenOffice or NeoOffice.

can i use microsoft office on my macbook pro and from where should i download it?

I don't use Office myself so can't really offer advice. I don't recall seeing your issue before. Maybe someone who uses Office will be able to help.
As this thread is marked as solved it won't get the attention your query warrants. It would be a good idea to start your own thread discussing the problem - I'm sure someone here will offer the right advice/help.
Make sure you note what Mac your have and what version of OS X you are running.

  • I had Microsoft Office installed in my Macbook Air by one of the technicians in the store, it was working fine the first week but after that it started popping a notice saying it cannot verify my suscription online and now I cannot open any documents?

I just bought a Macbook Air almost a month now. When I bought it, the technician installed Microsoft Office 365 as they were having a promotion at the time. However after a week of using it, it started popping up a notice saying that it cannot verify Microsoft Office. I still managed to open the word document but as of today, it will not open. I took it to the Mac store last week, and they said that there was nothing wrong with it and they could not figure out any problem.
I don't know what to do and I am in desperate need of help. I cannot open my documents at all and I have my research paper that I need to finish writing. This is very disappointing and extremely stressful for me. If anyone has any suggestions of how this can be fixed, please let me know. I do not want to lose my hard work =(

Microsoft Office 365 is a subscription - based service. You have to pay for it... and keep paying for it... and paying for it... as in 365 days a year... or lose your hard work.
Office Home Premium is a mere $10 a month, but a convenient annual subscription is only $100 a year. This is a substantial discount to Microsoft's Office 365 business products ($150 / employee / year).
Such a deal! Are you not absolutely thrilled?
Here are some slightly more reasonable alternatives, all of which are compatible with their Office equivalents:
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free if you can find it)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
    Numbers ($19.99)
    Pages ($19.99)

  • Will microsoft office disappear when I upgrade to Yosemite?

How do I upgrade without losing the microsoft office suite?

You just upgrade... Of course, you should have a backup of your computer first, just in case something goes wrong.
Upgrading OS X will not delete installed software from your computer unless it is incompatible.
So long as you're running Office 2008 or 2011, you should be fine.
