Microsoft office licence on bootcamp

Hi everybody,
I'm considering installing bootcamp onto my Mac in order to run a few programmes that dont work on the Mac OS. If I do so and want to use Microsoft office (word and powerpoint primarily) will I have to purchase a second Microsoft office licence and product key? I already have office for Mac installed currently but assume this wouldnt work on the windows OS?

No, you need to buy an office for windows as well! or use Keynote, Pages and Numbers, from icloud.com its FREE!

  • Microsoft Office Licence Audit

    Hi There,
I am looking for some advice, I am currently an IT Apprentice working for a medium sized business.
I have been asked to preform an office audit for a large number of laptops we have in the field which currently have various versions of office 2010/2013 running, all retail versions. I need to know the licences for a software tracking point of view as well
    as for potential upgrades.
As no previous log has been kept I need to come up with the best solution. I have found Belaric Monitor, but I just wanted to know if anyone else knew of any programs/ utilities which would be able to help me achieve my target.
I have read that a batch file could be used to help retreave the office licences, but this is something I do not know much about. I do know that the office 2010 + licences are encrypted so would a batch
file still be able to view/ export this data?
Thank you in advance for any help you are able to give me, I will really appreciate it.

In Office 2013, your best solution for audit Microsoft Office product on client is a new tool called Office Telemetry Dashboard:

I want to upgrade my mac os 10.6.8 to 10.8.2 , will this erase all my files, apps, etc ? and will i loose the licence of microsoft office 2011, how to make a backup on a pendrive ?  I have files of approx 180 gb , THANK YOU !!

    Forget the Pendrive stategy...
Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
    SuperDuper  http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    or CCC  http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
    you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)
Also, Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using...
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
You should also consider more RAM... Get the Maximum you can for your Mac...
It is important to get the Correct and Matching RAM

  • I have an iMac with Microsoft Office and an HD - Time Machine. I'm buying a MacBook Pro and I want to know that if I use the Time Machine to transfer all my stuff the Microsof Office will work or if I need to reinstall it with another licence ?

I have an iMac with Microsoft Office (and several other licenced softs) and an HD - Time Machine that backup all the stuff. I'm buying a MacBook Pro and I would to know that if I use the Time Machine to transfer all my stuff, the Microsof Office will work normally or if I need to reinstall it with another licence?

You do not need a new license. The license file will be found in /Library/Preferences/ and is named, com.microsoft.office.licensing.plist. Be sure it gets transferred and you will be fine. I see no reason why the file would not be in your Time Machine backup nor any reason why it would be restored.
Please visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine. You may need help figuring out how to restore your current backup to a new machine.

  • How can I use Microsoft Office on two user accounts on one IMAc?

    Dear all,
I have installed Microsoft Office 2011 on my IMac which I have recently bought. I did this on the (at that time) only user account in place: the administrator account.
A little time after this my wife and I decided it would be much easier to us to make an additional user account on the same computer for my wife (also with administrator rights), so we could have our own settings, desktop preferences etc. So now we have two user accounts/profiles on one Imac, so far so good.
But when my wife signs in on her account, she is not able to use Microsoft Office . Office seems to be only available to the user account on which it has been installed initially: 'my' account.
Can anyone help us out here and tell us how we can make Office available to my wife's user account as well? I understand that the licence of Office is restricted to one computer, but what about two accounts on the same IMac? I mean, it is still one computer, one 'home', one family etc.
We would appreciate your help here!
    Kind regards,
    Jurjen

As long as you installed MS Office into its default location (the top level /Applications folder) it will be available to all user accounts on the Mac.
As far as licensing is concerned you only have to enter the license code once, which you should do right after installing MS Office, in the same admin account you installed it from, by opening any one of the MS Office applications.  There is no additional licensing required for additional user accounts on the same Mac.
Each user account is able to run the Office apps.  The only thing you will have to do is go through an initial setup screen in each user account (but this setup does NOT involve entering any additional license codes).
You may have problems if you installed MS Office in a particular user account (i.e. NOT in the top level /Applications folder).

  • Microsoft Office Home and Business Edition 2013

     Dear Team,
We are planning to procure microsoft office home and business edition 2013. We want to procure 50- Microsoft office home and business edition. Please let us know if there is  any limitations in the licensing part as you have spoken to one of your
executive in microsoft. As per him we procure as many as per our requirement, it is legal for 200 users.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh Kumar

    Hi,
I haven't found any other limitation in the licensing part except you should install Office on one PC at a time.
If you want to purchase 50 copies, I'm pretty sure there's no problem. But you may have to maintain 50 licence keys along with boxes and invoice, be careful and don't mess them up :)

Dont need to install 275817 as its already applied to the server that has the KMS install on it.
When i get to step 3 and double click the exe from the MSDL site i get the cscript window but nothing happens, the window stays blank and then closes, i never get the prompt to enter the licence key for Office 2013 KMS key.
Its a Windows server 2008 R2 install, fully patched and rebooted.
Checked the logs and can find nothing, has anyone seen this or know a fix?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Microsoft Office 2004 shutting down

    Morning all,
Just got my MacBook back from a visit to the Genius bar where they resolved a kernel panic problem. All good for the first week, but now whenever I open Entourage I get the dreaded
Microsoft Office 2004 cannot start because Microsoft Office is already in use
and it shuts down. It says I have exceeded the number of installations allowed under the licence, which I have not. Strange it should wait a week before doing this - if it had started doing this the moment it came back from the Genius Bar I could almost understand it, but after a while ? I have Time Machine backing up to a Time Capsule, so if anyone can suggest a solution I'd be very grateful.
I have tried deleting any caches with Onyx. That did work for a wonderful ten minutes before the message appeared again as I was using the program and then it shut me down in mid e-mail.
Please do not berate me for using Office 2004 - I happen to prefer Entourage to Mail
    Thanx,
    Dr Hook.

does anyone else have a copy of your office program?
if that program finds your copy running via airport or network it will give you that message. i have to shut it down on one computer if i want to use it on another. you could shut off airport just to see if it will open. you need to be connected to a network for entourage. but at least you can see if the program sees it running somewhere else.

  • I just purchase my first macbook air and i don't know how to download my microsoft office 2010 that i have already purchased for my old computer. Do i need to purchase again for the microsoft office for the mac?

I have a windows computer before i purchased my mac and i had already spend $500 for microsoft office professional 2010, i would ike to know if i can download the same one to my macbook air and how to do it. please need help!

The problem is that your Office 2010 package is a Windows application, and Windows softare doesn't run natively under MacOS. As a result, you can't simply download it or install it on your MacBook Air.
You can set up your MacBook Air to run Windows as well as MacOS, using either Boot Camp (where you pick whether to run Windows or MacOS each time the system starts, but you can't run both at the same time) or using a 'virtual' Windows installation (where you use software such as VMware to create a virtual Windows machine which you run as a window inside MacOS), but in either case you'll need a licence for Windows, plus the virtualisation software if you want to go that route. In other words, it's not simple, though in either case your Office software would be usable.
Some software houses are prepared to cross-licence software in this sort of instance - they'll allow a copy for one platform to lapse and charge a relatively low amount for new copy, on the basis that the user has already paid full price, but Microsoft generally don't seem generally cooperative in that instance.

  • What CD is required to install Microsoft Office

Hi there i've scoured the discussion boards and know that boot camp requires a full or OEM version of windows xp to run. But i want to know if microsoft office needs to be a full version or can it also be an OEM as well?

    Hi,
an OEM version of Office is sufficient for use with a Mac.
Running a MAc with Bootcamp Windows is like running any give PC with Windows.
Therefor the same legal aspects apply.
    Have Fun
    Stefan

  • Microsoft Office 2008

hi there - my Brother purchased Microsoft Office 2008 for mac and gave me one of the licence codes, however - the code that I used to register my copy is apparently being used by someone else and so Microsoft Office has stopped working.
I've now bought my own Microsoft Office but am having some difficulties registering this copy with the new licence codes - do I uninstall the old version? and also is there anyway of 'unregistering' the old version as it is now completely useless...
    Many thanks.

    robrw wrote:
hi, thanks for the prompt replies!!
I'va managed to uninstall it fine - the problem is that when I use my new CD to install the fresh copy of MS Office, I never get the opportunity to enter the 'clean' product key that came on the CD sleeve - I presume that this is because my Mac still thinks that I'm using the 'old' product key, and consequently I'm back to square one as even though this is a fresh purchase it still thinks that I have an invalid product key...
    Thanks
I found this which might be helpful:
    Microsoft Office 2008
Unlike earlier versions of Microsoft Office for Mac OS X, Office 2008 does not remove its serial number, or "CD Key," when you run the "Remove Office" tool. That tool is still found on the installation disc and installed inside the "Microsoft Office 2008" folder on your hard disk, but it doesn't have the secondary function of deserializing Office 2008.
Instead, you will need to remove the following two files to have the same effect.
    ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 Settings.plist
    /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/OfficePID.plist
You may navigate to these locations with the Mac OS X Finder by selecting Go > Go to Folder, and pasting in the following two paths (one at a time):
    ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/
    /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/
Removal of the OfficePID.plist file may require administrator privileges.
    Reference:
    http://www.rit.edu/its/services/desktop_support/mac/msofficeremoveserial.html
I would then add that you are most likely better off installing NeoOffice or OpenOffice, both of which are close to 100% MS Office compatible and both are free downloads and best of all, they work flawlessly and do not require any keys or registering, etc.

  • Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 - Activation after hardware change

Have an original Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 software which is licenced for 3 computers.
In the past had it up and running OK on a Hewlett Packard PC and a Samsung Netbook.
When I made some changes to the PC early last year it asked me to activate again, and the process worked OK and was carried out online.
A few months ago my PC crashed, so I took the harddrive out of the PC and inserted it into the shell of another old HP PC, which resulted in me having to activate it again.
Now (while abroad) my Netbook crashed and I took out the harddrive and installed it in to the shell of an old Samsung Laptop.
It is now asking me to activate, however when I try it says I exceeded the number of permitted installs (which rubbish, as they not copied on to new computers while left on the old ones but physically still on the same drive, even if totally different motherboard
    etc)!
As it won't activate online it gives an option of activating by telephone, but if you select this option in the wizard the wizard disappears and no list of contact numbers appears.
Obviously trying to call back to the UK to speak to a UK call centre would be costly and even if I get to a person how do I enter the code (that I have) if the wizard is not open to key it in to?
If I call a local number the support will be in Estonian or Russian rather than English and can they support a UK purchased software rather than locally purchased one?
    It is a real pain!
Makes you want to switch to OpenOffice!
Can any of you email me at mueller at tesco dot net and tell me what I can do?
Being out of work at the moment I can not afford to upgrade to the latest version, and my son needs to use Office on this laptop for his schoolwork.
I can give you my AAAAA-AAAAA-NANAA-NANAA-NAAAA type activation code if you need it but thought it best not to post it on an open forum.
    Thanks, Regards, Richard

    Hello Bhatt,
Most probably your PC was corrupted by the Dell software you downloaded. First of all, I'd recommend contacting the Dell support service representative. Also you can try to re-install Office.
Finally, I'd recommend asking such question on the
Microsoft Community forum instead. The current forum is for Office developers.
