Microsoft Visual C++ run time error

Hi,
I'm running a sequence in TestStand 4.0 which calls various dlls written in C++ using Visual Studio 6. I have an intermittent problem with Teststand hanging on the step which calls a function in this dll. This does not happen every time, and I'm sure its not an issue with the dll as this dll has been working fine with teststand 3.0 for years. When TestStand starts up I get the following error:
Title: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
Body: "Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\National In..
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate ti in an unusual way. Please concact the applications support team for mor information."
I think this is being thrown by version selector. I guess this is related to the crashes I've been having with the C++ dlls?
What is the cause of this and how can I fix it? The OS is Windows XP Service pack 3 (though this still occured when I uninstalled service pack 3, and after I re-installed TestStand 4). Also we have 2 machines set up the same and it occurs on both of them.
Interestingly I don't get the error or the crashes on my own machine (Same OS but service pack 2).
Any help will be welcome.
Regards

Hi iLoveThisJob,
I feel the best step to take first would be to try a repair on your TestStand install. You can access this from the Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Add and Remove Programs -> National Instruments software. In the dialogue box that opens, you will see Teststand listed and you should be able to repair. If this does not work, I would suggest removing teststand and then re-installing it. this may solve the issue.
Are you definitely using TestStand 4.0? There is a bug for TestStand 4.2 which sounds exactly like your bug. The workaround is simply to wait a bit longer after selecting which version to activate. To quote the bug's workaround, "Be patient and don't close the version selector while it's in the middle of making active."
Please let me know how you get on.
Many thanks,

  • Loading Itunes on Windows so that I can get my Iphone synch etc. But I keep getting a run time error for the Microsoft  Visual C   Run time Library

In loading Itunes down on my PC using Vitsa I keep geeting an error message saying that a program is trying to load: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library and ITunes will not complete the down load. Any Suggestions

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Run-time error 53 File not found (makes BI Publisher quite unuseable!)

    Upgraded to BIP v 10.1.3.3.2
Open a template with the template builder
    Load a source XML file
    Proceed to choose Insert-> Field....
    Microsoft message pops up:
    Microsoft Visual Basic
    Run-time error '53':
    File Not Found.
This error, according to Microsoft and other technical sources SHOULD actually tell you what the file is that isn't found, however when run through the template builder, it never tells you any file name, just the above error message!
I saw one other post on this forum about this problem, and it was related to the Java Home, so I went to TOOLS-> OPTIONS and my java home there is:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_12
So this should be high enough JRE version.
ANy suggestions? What file or *.DLL can it not find? We have many people at a client (and me!) that have this issue.

    Pradeep,
I am not trying to utilize the desktop template builder to log onto BIP enterprise.
I am using it in an E-business suite environment, not a standalone BIP enterprise reporting environment. I simply use it right now to develop templates when I have valid XML to work with.
Many other features are working, but any features that seem to be new such as repeating group, conditional region, conditional format, the insert field palet, among others.
ANY feature that requires a .net service to be kicked off works only 10% of the time.

  • Itune run time error

have uninstalled iTunes 2-3 times (following given order of  itune,  apple software update,  apple mobile device, bonjou, apple applic suuport),   turn off the computer,  downloaded and reinstalled itune,  have windows 7.  WHen  I execute iTune  get  run Time error  Microsoft Visual C++ library,   application has to shut down.   Havne't been able to synch  iphone / ipad for 2 months.  Very frustrated

3 times I uninstalled  (itune, apple mobile device, bonjour, quick time a few other things that I don't remember now).  I deleted Itune, Ipad from program files,  and program files/ common files.   Emptied the recyle bin ,  turned off the computer,  turned on,  and insalled the latest version.   I either got the Microsoft visual C++ run time error when I clicked on iTunes icon    OR,  if I was lucky,  I would be able to open  Itune,  but it will tell me
This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed.
I searched specificaly for the error message, and one person (I wish I could go back and thank him),  suggested  first to download to hard drive the iTune exe  file,  then after turning off the computer,  to turn on the computer, don't open any Apps,  disconnect your nextwork,  Switch off the secutiry Software (I think this did it for me),  and then instal iTune.
Now, I have to add one more thing,  the time that it worked for me,  some how,  when I turned off the computer,  it did some 15 updates  (window updates), I have window 7.0,  now whether these updates corrected some issues  or whether turning off the security software helped,  I can't tell,  but it installed the iTune,  and it recognizes both my iphone and ipad.

  • Migration from Access97 - Run time error message

  • Run-time Error '429' when copying queries from one userid to a new userid

    Hello,
One of the users is having an issue when copying queries from an old user id to a new user id.
She is getting the visual basic run-time error '429' - active x component can't create object while copying.
This is not consistent.  From what I can tell, this does not appear to be a bex query designer issue but something in microsoft.
Please let me know either way. I have found minimal posts on this issue.  Most that I have found are outside the sdn forum and talk about registry issues?
    Thank you,
    Lynda

According to your error message, your onClick function declaration line closes the parenthesis twice... you may have a typo in what you actually put in the file versus what you think you put...
    function onClick()event:MouseEvent):void{

  • Run-time error '4248'

So, I'm using the BI Publisher Word add-in.
It's been working great, but now for some reason when I try to view the BI Publisher properties of an object in a template, I get the dialog box that says "Starting .Net runtime" and then a "Microsoft Visual Basic Run-time erorr '4248': Application-defined or object-defined error" box.
I click end, and then I'm back to my template...I can't edit any fields.
I can still add fields, run the preview.
There's nothing that I have done or can remember that is different, so I'm not sure why this is happening.
    Any ideas?
    thanks
    -jerry

Can't help you with the error since I haven't encountered this error; however just wanted to let you know that if you want to edit the fields, you can select the field and then select 'Field Browser' from the Tools menu and you should be able to update the code.
    Thanks!

  • Template builder - run time error '429'

    Hi all,
I'm getting a Visual Basic "run-time error '429' ActiveX component can't create object" in two separate environments. One is using Word 2007 the other Word 2003. The error occurs when I try to log into PI Publisher from Word. I can't find any info on this error. They are both 64 bit machines and I have the .NET 2.0 for 64 bit installed. Has anyone seen this?
    Thanks!
    Patrick

Correct, you do not need Oracle client software installed. But, where does Desktop get installed? Under C:\Program Files\Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop. One of the folders therein is DotNetInstallFiles. Then, consider this:
"With OLE DB .NET, applications can access the Oracle database from any .NET programming language.
The provider now supports 64-bit Windows natively, including Windows x64 and Windows Itanium."
I would venture to say that older versions of Desktop were probably not tested on 64-bit PCs because who uses Office on 64-bit Windows? Even in the certification guide, it states that all possible combinations of J2EE compliant engines, databases, OS, etc have not been tested. Digging into the BI installed files, you see ADO-related files.

  • R6025 run-time error in Visual C++

Does anyone else get this error when exporting their dashboards from Xcelsius 2008 SP1?
I have created several dashboards that I have inserted Web Intelligence content into via Live Office.  All data connections are set to 'Refresh on Load'.  We do have equations (INDEX, VLOOKUP, etc.) that are based on the Live Office content that we are importing.
About 50% of the time I export the dashboard to a SWF file or to BOE, then I get the following Excel error:  R6025 run-time error in Visual C++
runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/125749
Any ideas what could be causing this?  Other people have also tried exporting the file on their machines and they are getting the same error.
    Thanks.

    Hey Ulrich -
I have 2 gb of RAM on this machine, but I have also tried it on a machine with 3 gb of RAM and I get the same error.
If you notice, I am not getting the same runtime error that you were getting...  You were getting an error that was causing Xcelsius to crash altogether because it was running out of memory between the RAM and paging file.
I'm getting a runtime error that is caused by Excel and is not caused by a memory issue.
My runtime error is due to a Pure Virtual Function call - I only started getting this error when I imported the Live Office WEBI content into my Excel model - it must be caused due to this...
By the way, I have also tried your other solution of setting a paging file size equal to 8 gb fixed size, but this did not work either.
    Any other ideas?

  • "RUN-TIME ERROR '3078': The Microsoft Access database engine cannot find the input table or query 'name'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly.

When I run the code below I get the following error:"RUN-TIME ERROR '3078': The Microsoft Access database engine cannot find the input table or query 'False'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly. Note that I do not call

The subject code (the underscored line of code is highlighted in the debugger when the error occurs):

Else: MsgBox "This material lot has already been assigned to this job."
    DoCmd.Close acForm, "MaterialLotListAvailable"
    End If
    End Function

I think the SQL statement should be
    strSQL = "SELECT * FROM MaterialLotJobJoint WHERE JobID=" & _
    tempvars!JobID & " AND MatLotID=" & tempvars!MatLotID
This assumes thatJobID and MatLotID are number fields.

    Hello,
In addition to Lucas suggestion, there is another SAP Note 852031 following above Note 808354. Try the suggested work around in this Note only after going over Note 808354. The work around is good for cases where more than one UI versions ar registered at the same time.

    Dear All,
One of our users is getting the following Microsoft Visual Basic error while running the report S_ALR_87013614.
    Run-time error '1004'
Method 'Container' of object '_Workbook' failed.
I have searched the forum posts for help. But I only found some details related to Run-time error 1004 related to some excel file security but not related to "Method 'Container' of object '_Workbook' failed".
Could anyone please tell me how this error can be eliminated for the user?
    Regards,
    Lakshmi.

    Dear Arpan,
We too observed a few PIDs along with the one that you have mentioned but they make no difference. Some users who has the PID G_RW_DOCUMENT_TYPE set with some value are getting the report.
Upon further searching we are assuming that it could be an issue with the Microsoft applications or macro settings of the user. But not sure about it.
