Microsoft word: size of document on screen

Hi,
I have installed word on my macbook but can not work out how to increase the size of the documents (which right now are tiny!!). There is a full screen option but this does not actually increase the size of the document on the screen.
I have asked at my local Apple store (there was a microsoft trainer instore that day too)-neither the Apple guy or the Microsoft guy could work it out.
Hope someone out there can help....

Just go to the bottom right of the document where you will see 3 little lines. Click on that and drag it across the screen. After that you can customize the zoom setting to 200%. That's how I do my school work and it is plenty big and takes up the whole screen.

  • Unable to open embedded Microsoft Excel 97-2003 worksheet in Microsoft Word 2013 docx document?

Below is the steps to reproduce this issue.
    1. Open Microsoft Word 2013, create a blank Word document.
    2. Insert Ole object of type Microsoft Excel 97-2003 worksheet or Microsoft Word 97-2003 document.
    3. Save the document as Docx format and close the document. (Saving as Doc format works fine)
    4. Open the saved Docx format in Microsoft Word 2013, now try opening the Ole object.
    5. Error message is thrown as below image.

    Hi,
This issue might be caused by the third-party software/add-in on your machine, interfering with the OLE process (the technical thing that lets you create/edit an object from an outside application inside Word).
Based on my tested with my local environment (Office 2013 & Windows8.1), if I enabled some Excel Com add-ins with Microsoft Excel 97-2003 worksheet, I would get the same error when I embedded it to Microsoft Word 2013 DOCX file. Then, I go to Excel>file>options>add-ins.
Then down the bottom select COM Add-ins from the drop down menu and hit go. Uncheck everything. After that, I could embedded the Microsoft Excel 97-2003 worksheet well.
Please try the suggestion and hope it's helpful.

  • Word 2013 crashing opening Microsoft Word 97-2003 Document

    Hi
I am having a major problem with a large number of Word docs which have been copied to my file server. The docs are in Microsoft Word 97 – 2003 format and open fine with Office 2007. I recently rolled out Office 2013 to a department. When they try and open
these docs by double clicking the file, the Word splash screen with status "Starting..." opens with animated dots but stays in this state. I have left this for over 10 minutes but it doesn’t open. I end up having to close the splash screen using
the top right corner cross but if I check in task manager the task remains eating up 25-30% of the CPU - I have to kill the task from here. I have tested this locally and in RDS where majority of users work from hosted office sessions and the problem is evident
in both. The major problem is that RDS server CPU can reach 100% if a couple of users run into the problem.
Going back to the issue. If I open up a blank instance of Word 2013 first and go File - Open and browse to the file, if I choose “Open and Repair” the file opens with “Errors detected”:
"Drawn Objects and Text Boxes 1"
If I select "go to" it goes to the Footer/headers - There is nothing in the header/footer that looks like it is causing an issue. If I now save the file either as 2003 or docx and close, the next time I try and open (double click) the file opens
in compatibility mode or normal mode no problem. It seems strange Word is not able to automatically open/detect and repair anything it doesn’t like.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can work around this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Does this happen to all 97-2003 Word files?
Word 2013 now has lots of updates compared with earlier version of Word, lots of features have been updated. Use Word 2013 to open documents created in earlier versions of Word (Word 97-2003 format), you will probably encounter unexpected problems,
expecially for those heavily formatted files.
We would suggest you to convert your document to the Word 2013 file format, then you will be able to access the new and enhanced features in Word 2013.

  • Microsoft Word, check if document is opened!

Hi I'm trying to create a SubVI which checks if a word application or document is opened!
I've already done this in excel and it works fine, but Word seems to be a bit different (atleast acording to me).
I'm using activex objects and maybe this is not the ideal way of doing it, but its a way.
My real problem using word is that it seems to be really sensitive about open references and doesnt work properly  if references aren't closed.
The excel example works fine and when I try to do the same in Word I can't close the ref. because I get an error. I've done another program that goes around this problem, and doesnt seem to open any references, but I still get an error which doesn't look very nice.
Can someone explain what global ref is and why I get this error?
    Regards Andreas
There's three different kinds of people, those who can count, and those who can't.

Excel Check if Open.vi ‏18 KB
Word Check if Open.vi ‏17 KB

Well, like I said, when I ran your "Word Check if Open" VI, I did not get an error, so the problem, as far as I can tell, isn't with the VI, but with the computer you're running it on. One thing I noticed is that when I opened the VI it showed as having been changed. The change was that an external interface was changed, meaning that it had to resync with the version of Word that I had installed on my computer, which is probable different than the one you have. The "Class not registered" is a pretty generic error, and is usually pretty hard to track down. A few things to try:
If you're not logged in as Administrator, log in as Administrator and see if that makes a difference. Could be a permissions problem.
Take a look at the document "How Do I Manually Register Type Libraries, ActiveX Controls, and ActiveX Servers?". Word is an ActiveX Server.
See if the same thing happens on another computer, or better yet, on another computer running a different version of Word.
See if the same thing happens when you try to instantiate the ActiveX interface using something like VB.
Sorry I couldn't be of much help on this one.
Regarding your question on global reference: that term is pretty meaningless without a context. Usually it's a reference that you keep in a global variable that you access within an application. Or, are you referring to the "Global" object that you're using in the VI? In that case, the "Global" object is just a shortcut. From the Office Visual Basic Reference:
    Global Object
Contains top-level properties and methods that don't need to be preceded by
the Application property. For example, the following two
    statements have the same result.
    Documents(1).Content.Bold = True
    Application.Documents(1).Content.Bold = True

  • How can I customize Microsoft Word Outline Numbered List Templates with AppleScript?

I wrote an applescript to set up a word document with the appropriate styles to give the document an academic setup, much like what Xelatex produces. This is a work in progress and I have a problem.
I have successfully applied the style changes to each Header and I have applied the desired outline numbered list template "list template 5 of list gallery 3", however I would like to add tab stops to each one in order to make each header look slick like in Latex.
To do what I want manually in Microsoft Word 2011 mac I would click Bullets and Numbering, customize, under text position i would check the tab stop box and put in some value (1 cm, for example)
The following is an approximation of the result of running this script on a document with headings 1-9 applied consequently to each line, respectively. Note how they are not even. I think this is an issue with the template, but I want to be able to run this script on any mac without extra template files.

  • Best way to import Microsoft Word text?

Newbie question. I've been importing Microsoft Word text just using the clipboard. That is, I'll open Microsoft Word, open my document, select all, copy, and then go to InDesign and paste. InDesign gives me a text block with my text and I just re-size the columns. The text comes in all weird and I have to stylize it, of course. Sometimes I get some junk like nonbreaking characters and other hidden characters which screw me up until I figure out what's going on. My question is: what's the best way to import Microsoft Word text that will introduce the fewest errors? Thanks.

The Microsoft word and excel file save screen flashes when saving documents.  Microsoft says it is a corrupted file in the Mac operating system that supports 2011.  Reloading the microsoft apps did not help. The problem goes away if the screen display is changed to a smaller font which is however too small for me to read comfortably.

    How did you reload Office?
Find your Office 2011 install disc with the product key # - and only then remove Office according to MS instructions

I am unable to copy fillable fields from a pdf form I created in Adobe X Pro into a Microsoft Word or Notepad document. Please help! Thank you!!

I have created a fillable form. Part of the information from that form needs to be copied and sent to another department at work. Once i complete the fillable form (e.g. select options from a drop down, enter test in test boxes that are on the form) when i copy that section, i only get the non-fillable information pasted into word or notepad, the drop down selections and fillable text do not copy.

  • Exporting WMF's to Microsoft Word and preserving anchors toggles

I'm creating artwork (lineart) in Illustrator CS3, and would like to place the art into a Microsoft Word 2003 text document and when completed with the project save the word document as a pdf. So that in the end we can open the pdf and be able to edit the page back in illustrator. The problem is that when we are in the pdf and go to advanced editing to edit page it does open the page up in Illustrator so that it can be modified but the artwork has not preserved the toggles (anchors) for the vector line formation but has chopped up an acr or circle into many smaller segments. Is there a way to preserve the anchor points in exporting? Or, am I on the wrong track and is there a better way to accomplish this? Really appreciate any insight. Thanks

Illustrator's conversion to WMF is awful. That's why I usually recommend hi-res PNG when exporting Illustrator art to Worst. In this case, since further editing is being done in Illustrator, I think you'd be better off leaving Worst our of it and just doing everything in Illustrator.

  • PDF file showing Microsoft Word icon in library

    Hello all,
I've come across a weird issue in a Sharepoint 2010 library. We have a library that contains both WORD documents and PDF files. We have a custom functionality in our implementation that converts the WORD documents to PDF. For one specific document, after
the WORD document was converted to PDF, the converted PDF is still showing the microsoft word icon under document type.
As you can see, the document is clearly a PDF, but it's showing the Word icon. If I click on the document, it opens up as a PDF. Every other PDF document in the library is showing the correct PDF icon except for this one, so it's not an overall icon issue.
Anybody have any ideas on this? Is this something that can be edited for specific files? If not, does anybody have any idea what can cause this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Perform below step for PDF Icon in library.
     Configure PDF Icon
    - Download PDF Icon from  Adobe website: http://www.adobe.com/images/pdficon_small.gif and save it to
    Images folder under 14 hive folder <var>(In my case C</var>:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\14\Template\Images)
    - Open Command Prompt and type IISRESET -Stop to stop IIS and edit Docicon.xml
    - Navigate XML folder  from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web máy chủ extensions\14\Template\Xml  and open Docicon.xml by NotePad
    - Insert <mapping key=”pdf” value=”<var>pdficon_small</var>.gif ” /> within the <ByExtension> section
    - Save and Run command IISRESET -Start

  • Changed handling of Microsoft Word .doc files in Finder and Quicklook

This is happening on my new MacBook Pro with Retina Display and Mountain Lion 10.8.4.
Starting a week or 10 days ago, the appearance and behavior of .doc files in my finder changed from the .docx style to the style associated with Word 6.0/95. The application associated with .doc files has always been MS Word 2011. Before this changed, I could preview them in quicklook and the icons were not changed.  Word will open the .doc files if I double click from the finder (or open them from the application's Open command) but I can't quicklook the doc. files. I have tried to change the application using the two finder methods, namely through the "Get Info" command or by control-clicking on the .doc file icon.  Docx. files and all versions of other MS Office applications behave normally. This seems to be a problem with .doc files only.
An interesting thing is if I change the application to open a .doc file to Pages, the "Kind' designation in the Get Info dialog changes from MS Word 6.0/95 to "Microsoft Word 97 - 2004 document" but changing the associated application back to Word 2011 doesn't fix the problem and the description changes back to Word 6.0/95. There are different recommended applications.
All of this worked fine until a few weeks ago. The problem is on my new MacBook Pro with Retina display. I have an iMac 27 inch, latest model, and this is not happening on that machine. I have tried this in several different user accounts on my MBP and the behavior is the same in each one.
I've been working with this for a week or two, and have tried resetting quicklook preferrences and restarting the process as suggested on Macfixit and elsewhere. But the problem persists. I can't tell if this is a file association problem or a quicklook problem. Usually I find solutions here but it doesn't look like anyone else is complaining.

Baltwo, thanks for your advice and quick response. Thanks to you, I think I'm making some progress after a lot of frustration. I'm not quite "there" yet, though, so I hope I'm not imposing when I ask ask for a little more of your help and expertise.
I ran the suggested command (after deleting the space) and got the following in the Terminal window:
