MIGHTY MOUSE BUG! can you reproduce secondary button failure?

The bug is extremely simple: If a user decides to move his home folder to a different partition from the system partition & correcting the path in netinfo manager to point to the external partition, the secondary button function on any mighty mouse (wireless or wired) will not function, regardless of where this "function" assigned
BTW in case you ask, my system is set up that way for backup purposes.
steps to reproduce:
You need MacOs X 10.4.8 or later installed on a system with at least 2 partitions, the system being installed on one of them.
1 create user "test"
2 login to "test" user
3 check system prefs for mouse & activate secondary button if it is not activated. Test that it works!
4 copy "test" home folder to external partition (+ authenticate if appropriate)
5 open netinfo manager
6 find user "test" & correct path to home folder from "/Users/test" to "Volumes/whateveryourothervolumeiscalled/test" (or something to that effect, depending on your configuration: my config has an external volume called Users. I therefore point the new home folder to Volumes/Users/test)
7 save config & quit
8 logout & login twice (yes I don't know why but it doesn't seem to register the path to the new home folder after the first logout; go figure?)
9 test your secondary button function & it does NOT work. All other buttons/functions work normally
10 RETURN TO initial setup by correcting path in netinfo manager back to "Users/test" (save, quit, logout & login twice making sure the home folder selected is on the system partition): check mighty mouse secondary button & it works again!
This has been reproduced with 3 separate test users on 2 different systems.
Just to be on the safe side, could anyone else plse reproduce the bug & send feedback? I guess any system with 2 partitions on internal drive or a separate HD drive will do.

Ah - If you are just using bindings between various objects from Interface Builder, you can reduce your application code a bit (sometimes quite a bit), but there is only so far you can go. Typically variables and routines are defined in your application that Interface Builder hooks into, so that your application code (usually Objective-C, but can be others) can use these variables and routines to determine what is happening in the user interface.
I'm not sure how up-to-date the project code is (or what programming code you are familiar with), but you can take a look at Apple's Cocoa Application Tutorial to see what is (usually) involved in creating an application.

Can you reproduce this weird playlist bug???

I see this on Windows 7 and Windows 8.   Spotify desktop app.   Curious if it happens for other people, or on any other platforms.
1. Create a new empty playlist
2. Add six albums each with at least 10 tracks. I drag and drop the albums to the playlist, one at a time. You should now have at least 60 tracks in the playlist.
3. Use the default playlist sorting method, By that I mean, don't sort the playlist by song, artist, album name, or date. Should be the order you added the albums.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the playlist and highlight all of the tracks in the last album. Select the first track in the album with the mouse and then hold CTRL while you arrow down or mouse click to select the rest of the tracks.
5. Now drag the selected album up to move the tracks above the second to last album.   You're effectively swapping the bottom two albums in the playlist.
^^^ At this point I get an error message about adding duplicate tracks to the playlist. Which is strange because I have not added any new tracks, I'm only reordering them.
6. Now create another new empty playlist.
7. Select all of the tracks in the first playlist. CTRL-A works.   And drag and drop them to the new playlist
^^^ Notice the new playlist now has TWO copies of each album!   If the first playlist had 60 tracks, this one has 120!!!
Weird, eh?   Very frustrating when I make playlists of full albums....

I'm afraid I can't. At step 3, when I try to run base within gdb I get no further than the "Database assistant" dialog. Base freezes as soon as the main window is opened when running in gdb.

Captivate 7 - Can you disable a button in Properties?

Hi,
I have a screen with popups and want to disable the navigation buttons until each popup is closed. I am disabling the buttons in the scripts that open the popups, which is fine. However, I am at showing "dummy" navigation buttons on top of the real buttons that look greyed out. These don't do anything but I can't find a way of disabling them so you can't tab to them without having to write a script for the page to disable them.
Is there a way to disable buttons without writing a script for page enter?
Or, better yet, is there a way to change the look of a button between enabled and disabled (I'm using a lighter font color for my disabled buttons)?

I've just discovered that just disabling the buttons will not disable the tabbing. You don't see the tabbing, but nonetheless these disabled buttons are included in the tabbing.
So... is there any way to exclude buttons from the tabbing order? The only thing I can think of is to reproduce the buttons using a shape ... but I don't know whether I'd be able to get them looking exactly the same unless I use images instead.
Or, is there a way to set the focus so the tabbing starts at a specific object? For example, if I have a popup displayed, I want the focus on the Close button so they don't have to tab around all the other buttons before it gets to the Close button.

I know how to link text that I place within the div id to a html document but I want to be able to draw an AP DIV from the layout and have it contain an image or color, then when hovering over have the background change to a color, then be able to hit anywhere whithin the <div id="ap Div3"></div> area and have it change to another color.
I am very comfortable with flash and am having a dificult time understanding the rigid layout of dreamweaver.

I get the impression you are new to DW. With that said, I think it would be a very good idea for you to go over to http://www.w3schools.com and get familiar with html and css.
I dont believe you can have an apdiv as a link (I may be wrong, but hopefully at the end of this it will not be relevant), however you can have a "button" or other graphic as a link. Here is the code.

This will create a link on an image.
If you want the image or colors to change, you will have to go and set rules for your links. Put the following in your editor (DW Code View) and adjust as you like.

Lastly, apdivs, in particular for someone new to DW and html can be a world of pain. Trying to use them as a layout object can be very frustrating, because once you have tweaked and tweaked them, you look at your layout on a different machine, and chances are it looks nothing like what you had.

Thanks for your replay Brendan. Earlier today I exectured the command "failover active" on the standby ASA to force it to failover and become the primary. The configurations got pushed across the ASA's and they synced up but I lost all connection until I was able to do a no failover active on the standby so that the Primary ASA once again became the active. Both of the ASA's current state are Active/Active. The role of one ASA is set to Primary and the other ASA's role is set to Standby. I'm unable to reach the ASA with the assigned role of Standby. I'm unable to ping, telnet, or SSH to the standby IP from anywhere, including the primary ASA and the switch connected to the standby ASA. I'm even unable to ping the switch that the standby ASA is connected too from that standby ASA. All traffic over the inside interface just hits 10.1.0.5 and then nothing after that, almost like it's having a routing issue but the same config's are on the two ASA's so they have the exact same routing table. I'm able to ping all of the failover links between the two ASA's but the main inside interface on the standby ASA is unreachable. What would cause the inside interface of the standby ASA to result in failure? Thanks again!

Hi, I am trying to make a rpg style character select interface. What i am trying to do is very similar to the picture below. How do you create a button like the stats, gear, and supplies that will each show a different image or text depending on which character you choose. If noone have played this marvel facebook game before, if you choose for instance Ironman, then the buttons on the right change to stats, bio, and gear. Each character will show a different bio when the bio button is clicked. Do i create a different screen for each character with the same button layout in the same place? I think i just answered my own question but i want to make sure that is possible. Should each character portrait, stats, bio, and gear be on its own layer and have the buttons go to those specific keyframes? thanks

While you could create a different screen for each, a better way to do this is via some form of database. The buttons cause functions to be executed and the functions utilize data resources based on the selections that are established.
So if you pick a particular character, a variable is a assigned a value that indicates that. That variable is then utilized to extract the data associated with the character and to build the screen elements related to the options for that character.

How can you create a button master that can be unlocked but where edits to the master will affect all buttons?

I'm creating a course calendar (January - December) for an organization and courses are repeated several times throughout the year. I've been asked to create this as an interactive pdf rather than as an interactive Indesign document that can be viewed via a browser, so I'm unable to use multi-state objects
Anyway, I've created button masters for such buttons such as previous page/next page, course index and search on my master pages, so that's all fine and dandy as I don't need to move these elements. The way I have set up the calendar is that you click on the course name (a button) and a popup (also a button) shows up with a course description - I want to be able to move these popups so that they are the general vicinity of the course name button and not just floating about in the centre of the calendar.
However, because course descriptions or what is offered in the course change frequently and I am expected to keep the calendar up to date, it doesn't seem efficient to have to manually change every description for a course popup that shows up several times throughout the year or even several times on a month. The issue is that even if I create the popups on the master page, as soon as I unlock them on my month pages and move them to where I want them to be...they'll no longer be affected by changes to the master.
Is there some sort of function like in html/CSS where you can assign a class to a button or something? Or it is something that Indesign isn't capable of and I will just have to do it manually and try to be careful not to miss any courses when they are updated?

Can you change the button color on a custom theme?

I recently installed a nice theme called Fractal-01 Song of a morning breeze. I had to installan add-on to change the menus that were white and thus invisible, but I have not figured out how to get the grey buttons for like Home and Back and Reload black, and they are very hard to see with this theme.
I tried changing them in Custom Theme Restorer, but nothing seems to change them to black. I can't imagine that the person who designed this theme would have made these washed out colors that blend into the theme the default, but maybe he or she did. It is a shame to give up on such a nice theme if I don't have to, but it helps if you can see your buttons.

Can you choose "secondary" organization categories in iTunes?

By this I mean if I choose, say, play count as an organization category, is there a way I could choose how it organizes songs which have the same play count?

I agree with everyone that the ability to manage device content "manually" would be nice (as you can with iPods)... but it looks like Apple is currently treating the phone the same way it treats the sorta-new Apple TV. Both appear in the "Devices" category in iTunes and both work the same way with syncing content.
The big drawback on the iPhone of only being able to get content from a single Mac/PC onto the device is mitigated however on the Apple TV because from the ATV itself you can "link" to (and play content from) other Mac/PC's available in your house.

I was wondering if it was possible to create a button in a PDF that, when clicked, adds specific text to a form field?
I am trying to make a product catalogue where you click on a product button to add the product name or code to a form field.
Each product in the catalogue will have a button and the more you click the more is added to the form field(s).
Then when you have finished adding products to the form field(s) I want to be able to save and email the entire PDF as an order form.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Can you have a button play a specific frame in a different Edge Animate page?

I'd like to create a movie that can open other HTML files and go to a specific frame within those other pages. Is there any way to handle that inside of Edge Animate?

I'm looking to figure out a way to pass along some information from one movie to another.
For example. If I have a page (Movie1.html) that has Button A, Button B and Button C. Is there a way for me to open a different page (Movie2.html) AND point to a different frame based on what they clicked in Movie1.html?
So if they click Button A, it will open Movie2.html and go to frame label "IntroSection"
But if they click Button B, it will still open up Movie2.html, but this time it would jump to the label "AboutUs"
And if they click Button C, it will open up Movie2.html, it would jump to the label "End"
The idea is to have a few different files, but be able to point to specific frames or labels within an external movie.

Can you change toolbar button images in SQL Server 2012?

In SQL Server 2012 management studio I do not see an option to change the button image of the buttons on the toolbar.
In previous versions of SQL, you could go to Tools --> Customize --> Rearrange Commands, select the toolbar, click on a command and then click "Modify Selection". One of the resulting choices was "Change Button Image". You could
choose a different image for the toolbar button you selected. Another choice was "Edit Button Image" which allowed you to create a completely new image for your toolbar button.
I do not see any way to do this in SQL Server 2012. Has this functionality been removed or am I just not finding it?
