Migrating a Forms 6i custom application to Oracle Apps R12 custom bolt on

Hi,
I need to migrate an oracle forms custom application built in 6i to sit within oracle apps R12 (Forms 10g) and use Oracle Apps user authentication and session. It could become a custom bolt on to Oracle Apps and might be accessed from a custom responsibility in oracle applications.
a) How easy/difficult is this?
b) What are the challenges or things to look for to do this migration?
Thanks,
Ayyappa

Hi,
We have two node architecture for R12.1.1 on windows 2008 32 Bit. One node for Database and the other node for application.
As we are facing a lot of memory issues, we are planning to go for 64 Bit.
I Have already read the document
Migrating Oracle E-Business Suite R12 to Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 [ID 1188535.1]
The doc says in place OS upgrades are not supported....
So my question is...
While keeping the production, how can i migrate using the same servers. Coz my company does not want to buy new servers..
Please suggest.Complete all the steps in the doc for Rapid Clone and other steps, then take a backup of the files after you run preclone and create a trace file for the database. Once you have the backup ready, install a 64-bit version of the OS and install 11gR2 software and restore the files from the backup and complete the migration.

  • Font issue in Custom Reports in oracle Apps R12.1.1

    Hi Friends,
I am using Oracle Apps R12.1.1. Vision Instance.
i develop custom report (using 10g DS ) and i used Ariel a font and i deployed custom report.it works fine
The same report i opened in report builder and add a new parameter and used the same font Ariel and saved and then deployed but the concuurent report is showing all the columns in symbol(western) font not in arial font.
what could be the issue? the first report shows proper font. Please let me kno the fix
    Regards

yes i have used template.fmb only , and am using FND_KEY_FLEX.DEFINE as i mentioned earlier ,
i have not given any where clause -- should we give any where clause to retrieve the data into the combinations(LOV)?It depends on what values you want to retrieve.
i mean my requirement is if i give % and press tab all the valid combinations should be displayed.
its showing no entries found.Did you review 420787.1 referenced above?

  • XML data into Oracle Tables. XML file on Application Server.Oracle Apps R12

    Hi All,
    My Database version : 11.2.0.2.0
I have an XML file which needs to be loaded into the Database Tables. How ever i do not want to use the XMLTYPE as given below
    insert into test1 (
SELECT PrcDate, PmtType, PmtStatus, PmtTypeCount, PmtTypeAmt
    FROM XMLTABLE(
    '/WFPaymentAck/RejectedDom1ACH'
    PASSING XMLTYPE( BFILENAME('ECX_UTL_LOG_DIR_OBJ','wf_test_xml.XML'), NLS_CHARSET_ID('UTF8') )
    COLUMNS
    PrcDate VARCHAR2(2000) PATH '@PrcDate' ,
    PmtType VARCHAR2(2000) PATH '@PmtType' ,
    PmtStatus VARCHAR2(100) PATH '@PmtStatus' ,
    PmtTypeCount VARCHAR2(100) PATH 'PmtTypeCount' ,
    PmtTypeAmt VARCHAR2(100) PATH 'PmtTypeAmt'
Because this way the XML file needs to reside on the DB server.
I am looking into other option of loading the XML file into a CLOB column of a table and reading it from that column.
I did a couple of tests and feel that this way also the XML file has to reside on the Database Server itself. I am not sure if this is correct or if there is any problem with our TEST instance.
++Can anyone let me know if i need to have the XML file on the DB server instead of the Application server to load into a CLOB column of table ??++
    ++Or++
++Is there any other workaround for me to load XML into Oracle Tables, while having the XML file on Application Server.++
Your immediate help is appreciated. I need to get past this ASAP.
    Thanks in Advance.

    1) Are you asking me to create a folder on Database directory which points to a folder on the Apps server ?I suggest creating an Oracle directory object (a database object) pointing to a real location (folder) on Application server.
we DONOT want a hand shake between the DB Server and the APPS server.I don't see where the problem is.
I'm not familiar with Apps R12 but there's no doubt the two servers are already communicating, at least App server should be able to access the DB for the whole thing to run.
    As I said :
One way or another, the data has to make its way to the database, there's no workaround to that. How do you imagine the data will end up in a database table if it doesn't come to the DB server?
There's no magical method out there, both servers have to communicate at some point.
About client-server approaches (client being here the App server), you can read about accessing the XML DB repository in the XML DB Developer's Guide : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e23094/toc.htm
Other option : SQL*Loader can load a CLOB, or an XMLType column too

  • Deploying a custom Web Application in Oracle Apps 11.5.10..Urgent

    Hi,
I need to develop and deploy a custom J2EE based Web Application in Oracle Apps (11.5.10).
Is it mandatory to build it using OA framework?
As an example, If I develop a "CD Library" J2EE application using JSPs(View),Servlet(Controller) and Utility classes(Model),will it be supported during upgrades in future.
I have done the same in 11.5.9. (which doesn't have OA Framework support).
I had deployed JSPs in $OA_HTML, Servlet and model classes in $OA_JAVA.
I understand that the same is possible in 11.5.10.Can I follow the same approach for 11.5.10?What are the pros and cons?
Basically, Why should I go for OA Framework to develop and deploy a custom J2EE WebApplication though I can do it as explained above.
If you are aware of any article on this please share it with me.
    thanks,
    Gowtam.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    To conclude my understanding,
If I create a new J2EE web Application with
    - n number of JSPs
    - 1 servlet
    - and n number of Java model classes,
I can deploy all these in $OA_HTML and $OA_JAVA and use it as custom application.
    I need few more clarifications
My JSPs do not follow Oracle BLAF standards
Java model classes are not BC4J objects
The servlet is unique for the custom application and page flow does not include invoking OA.jsp.
Stil, can i continue with my approach?
Will it be supported during upgrade?
    Thanks,
    Gowtam

  • How to protect custom applications using oracle access manager?

Can someone brief me on how to protect custom applications using oracle access manager?

Is the Custom application a Web Application running on certified platform? If its Web Application then its no different you have to configure the access policies with http(s) as resource type.
If its not a web application you can write Custom access Gate and then implement. You would configure the policies similar to Web application (you can define your ouwn resource type if you like) and in the custom web gate you will use Access server SDK API to validate the access rules.

  • Common Supplier master database for Custom Applications and Oracle Financia

    Hi,
We would like to build a custom applications (Multiple) for our organization core business operations using .NET on the database which is being used by Oracle financials R12.1.1. These custom applications are going to have its own application servers. BUT the database is common for both custom applications and oracle financials. This database is going to house on the Oracle RAC.
We would like to have a common supplier master for both custom applications and Oracle payables. Could you please help me with below questions?
    1. How to create/Update/Query the supplier records in the supplier master tables provided by Oracle financials using custom applications?
    2. How can we store the additional data elements needed by each custom application? We can't use the DFF on the supplier tables as the data elements for each custom application is going to be different. even though they use same supplier.
    3. We might have multiple supplier with same name but different FEIN/SSN numbers. As per the design Oracle financials doesn't allow the same supplier name entered multiple times even though FEIN/SSN number is different. How can we workaround this limitation?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Please find my comments below:
    1. How to create/Update/Query the supplier records in the supplier master tables provided by Oracle financials using custom applications?
A: You may use Supplier Open interface and Sites Interface to Create the Supplier Records. I don't think there is any API to update Supplier Info. Since both the applications exist on same database, I think you can query the Vendor tables from Custom applications also.
    2. How can we store the additional data elements needed by each custom application? We can't use the DFF on the supplier tables as the data elements for each custom application is going to be different. even though they use same supplier.
    A. Designing different tables depending on Custom Application ID and Vendor ID seems to be the only option.
    3. We might have multiple supplier with same name but different FEIN/SSN numbers. As per the design Oracle financials doesn't allow the same supplier name entered multiple times even though FEIN/SSN number is different. How can we workaround this limitation?
A.One alternative is to create a single supplier with each FEIN/SSN number as site. Second one is to create Supplier Name concatenated with FEIN/SSN numbers as different suppliers and store the actual name in some DFF or other field. Standard functionality won't allow such duplication (Cannot Create Supplier/Employee With The Same Name Of Existing Supplier [ID 743430.1]).
    Hope it helps.

  • How to deploy ADF applications in Oracle apps

    Hi,
I just gone thru demos on ADF rich client applications using jdeveloper 11g.My doubt is how to deploy and use these from oracle apps.Is ADF supported in R12.If yes then could anybody provide me steps to deploy code at unix file system and how to create form functions for accessing jspx pages?
I know that in OAF, we can deploy server components at $OA_java and PG.xml files using xml importer and we can create form functions for PG.xml files.Similarly what are the steps to deploy and access ADF applications thru oracle apps.
    Thanks,
    ashok

ADF Rich Client Components need a newer server than the one that comes with Apps R12.
So what you'll need to do is have a separate WebLogic 10.3 server where you deploy the ADF Rich Client Applications.
You can call them from your Apps by customizing your current apps and adding a button or link that just calls the URL where your ADF apps are.

  • Unable to find oracle.apps.ibe.customer.AddressBook class in R12

    Hi,
We are implementing iStore R12 for our client. They have iStore 11i already implemented.
In 11i they were using a custom jsp which is using following seeded java classes:
    oracle.apps.ibe.customer.AddressBook
    oracle.apps.ibe.customer.FlexibleAddress
I am trying to migrate this jsp into R12. However above java classes are not there in R12.
Are these java classes moved to some other location?
    Please advise.
    Thanks

    Hi,
As noted these are now obsoleted in R12.
The new files are in: oracle.apps.ibe.tcav2

  • How to create a custom application in Fusion Apps release 4 ?

    Hello Experts,
My project has a requirement to define a custom application in Fusion Apps, the one that is equivalent to fnd_application from EBS.
Any document or note explaining the creation of custom application in Fusion and its association with Unix directory structure would be of great help.
Kindly share the experience if any of you have worked on the same and have anything documented.
    Thanks in advance.

You are asking in red wrong forum. Try an EBS forum.

  • "Concur" application to Oracle EBS R12

    Hi,
Has anyone done an integration from the "concur" application to Oracle EBS R12? If so, can you please tell me how to do it? Am looking for submitting an expense report from the "concur" application downloaded on my MOBILE phone to be approved in Oracle EBS R12.
    Regards,
    Divya

    Divya
What are you specifically looking for? If Concur is being implemented at your client, you may want to ask the following questions:
    1) Would expense report approvals happen in Concur, or are they going to be done in Oracle? Typically, the reports are approved in Concur. Based on your post, it looks to me that you are concerned more about manager approval. Concur's expense report approvals are not necessarily that well developed as Oracle 12.1.3, where you can use AME for dual / multi-level approvals.
    2) What are the various data elements that will get interfaced from Oracle to Concur -- if you have Projects implemented, then you have to get that info to Concur.. You may have to get your chart of accounts listing sent to Concur, employees listing (and changes), etc. sent to Concur - on a periodic basis.
The list honestly goes on.. Typically clients use Concur if they want to have corporate credit cards interfaced to Concur, and pay them off to get a substantial discount. If that is the case for you, then you have to worry about interfacing invoices from the bank as well..
I am currently working on an assignment involving Concur integration with Oracle Apps, using WebMethods, and we have various set of challenges that we are troubleshooting. Update this thread with any specific questions you have, and if I do know the answer, I will write back. Thanks!!

The synonym HX_PARTY_RELAIONSHIPS does not exist.
    Solution
-- To implement the solution, please execute the following steps::
Run adadmin option Recreate Grants and Synonyms.
Verify that the synonym HZ_PARTY_RELATIONSHIPS is created.
Run adadmin to compile invalid objects.
Run adadmin to regenerate the forms.
After you have updated to Release 12.0.4, perform the following post-update steps to update all database tier nodes with the code level provided by RUP4:
    Application tier:
    * As the APPLMGR user, run the environment (UNIX) or the command (WINDOWS) file for the current APPL_TOP.
    UNIX
    . ./<APPL_TOP>/APPS<CONTEXT_NAME>.env
    Windows
    <APPL_TOP>\envshell<CONTEXT_NAME>.cmd
    * Run AutoConfig on the APPL_TOP.
    * Run the admkappsutil.pl utility to create the file appsutil.zip in the <INST_TOP>/admin/out directory.
    perl <AD_TOP>/bin/admkappsutil.pl
Note: For details on how to run AutoConfig and create appsutil.zip, refer to Using AutoConfig to Manage System Configurations in Oracle Applications Release 12 (Doc ID: 387859.1).
    * Copy or FTP the appsutil.zip file to the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>.
    * Uncompress appsutil.zip under the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>.
    cd <ORACLE_HOME> unzip -o appsutil.zip
    * Run AutoConfig on the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>.
Note: For details on how to run AutoConfig on the database tier and how to transfer the AutoConfig updates from the APPL_TOP to the RDBMS ORACLE_HOME, refer to Using AutoConfig to Manage System Configurations in Oracle Applications Release 12 (Doc ID: 387859.1), Section 2, Step 3, Patching AutoConfig.
    Database tier and application tier:
Re-run adpreclone.pl on the database tier and the applications tier. Since updates included in RUP4 were applied to the system, adpreclone must be run again in order to apply the updates to the clone directory structures used during cloning.
    perl adpreclone.pl dbTier
    perl adpreclone.pl appsTier
