Migrating Files via Network

I am trying to transfer my files from my PC to my mac. They are both on the same wireless network. I have tried to connect to my pc via IP, with no success. How to I transfer my files wirelessly?
Also, could I do it via bluetooth?
Yes, I have read the tutorial on this site, but I still don't understand how to remotely connect.

Start with http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2518 and http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search&product=&q=Transfer%20files%20usin g%20bluetooth If those don't do the trick, come back with specifics.

  • Playing Flac Converted Files via Network in iTunes

I searched the internet for quite some time, but I couldn't find anyone with the same problem: I cannot play files which I converted from .flac to Apple Lossless .m4a (with dBpoweramp) via network on a diffrent PC with iTunes. Files which iTunes ripped directly from CD to m4a work perfectly fine so I know that the issue must have its origin in the flac converted files. The iTunes which I copied the files into plays all files them fine and streams them to my Airport without errors.
Please tell me if you experienced the same or know of any solution.
    Thanks!

Firstly, playing Flac in iTunes is an altogether different animal than playing them on your iOS device and is something you never asked about. For that you'll need to Google "Fluke FLAC" if you're still running Lion or older. If you're running a newer Mac OS I haven't yet heard of a solution for playing FLAC in iTunes and you'll have to resort to a third party app like Vox.
For most FLAC playing iOS apps you'll add your music files via the "file sharing" section at the bottom of your Apps tab in iTunes when your iPod touch is plugged in.
As for Flac Player specifically the high price coupled with some reported problems I heard when looking into it had me steering clear so I can't offer first hand reports on THAT program.
Since it sounds like you've been longing to play FLAC on your iPod touch for quite some time I was simply offering a bevvy of options to do just that I know of, including some free ones.
Hopefully someone will stumble across this thread and chime in with feedback about THAT app specifically for you.

  • When uploading large file from network, all other requests are not being sent to server

In our application we are facing a weird scenario in which when we try to upload a huge file(600+ MB) from network, all other requests(AJAX) are getting blocked. But when the same file is being uploaded from local location(E drive) then everything works fine.

How are you uploading the file via network?
If you are troubleshooting the network bandwidth? or the threads where one process takes precedent over the other you will have to troubleshoot the QoS of the network you see this on.
To give a better visual please use Firebug or the Web Developer tool called Network to analyze the requests. The "XMLHttpRequest" will give better clues for Ajax. Reference [http://ajaxian.com/archives/ajax-debugging-with-firebug]
There may be a about:config option that allows mutithreading or max persistent connections per server you can check.

Any ideas? Everything else is working perfectly, except for the fact it isn't migrating any files.
I tell it to Network Boot, and it starts kicking off. But once I get into Windows, no new files.

For offline USMT (computer refresh via network boot) you need to set the following properties in CustomSettings.ini:
    USMTOfflineMigration=TRUE
    DoNotFormatAndPartition=YES
I found it easier to just set USMTOfflineMigration=TRUE and then prompt for user data (SkipUserData=NO). It's an easy way to select when to wipe a machine completely, or when to save data offline.

  • How to migrate File server to NAS device?

All right so here's the scenario.
An external forest level trust is setup between two forests A & B as recently as we acquired the company B.
Users from forest B were already migrated to domain A.
Now I need to migrate file server from domain B to my domain A but the target where we need to move file shares is a NAS device, so basically we cannot do a simple server migration from domain B to domain A.
We need to copy over the data+ACL+Share permissions from fileserver in domain B to a NAS device in domain A whereas of course ACL permissions on file server present in domain B will obviously be as per source domain user accounts, example ACL permissions
    currently will show as "B\user1".
So whats the best way to perform this in order to maintain the permissions & data.
Another question how do we copy share permissions from file server to NAS as I can robocopy the data with security permissions but how to copy over all the share permissions to destination NAS?

    Hi,
You need to retain the SID History attribute when users across domains to ensure users in the target domain can access to files during migration.
For more detailed information, please refer to the threads below:

In additional, you could backup registry key SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Shares to copy share permissions.

  • Win 7 can't find inf file through network.

I have an old hp G85 that works great. i have the printer connected via usb to a computer that is running windows xp and that computer is connect via network cable into the wireless router. my other laptop is running win xp and works fine using a wireless card, i can print through the computer to the printer just fine. my new laptop can see the printer but it is looking for an inf file to install the printer. when i connect the printer to the laptop by the usb cable the computer can locate and install the printer but once i disconnect the cable and try to print and i get a print error.  i tried to download an install exe file but it doesn't like my win 7 os. any suggestions? i don't want full function operations of the printer, i just want to print through my network.

"when i connect the printer to the laptop by the usb cable the computer can locate and install the printer but once i disconnect the cable and try to print and i get a print error."
After connecting the printer to the new laptop with Win 7 installed and installing the driver, did you go into the print driver properties and make sure the printer was connected to the shared printer port (Example: \\winxplaptop\oj85) rather than the local (USB) port for printing?

I have a new MacBook pro, I transferred files via time machine and a removable hard drive. Now new MacBook does not recognize the log in password. What can I do to reset the password?

  • How to migrate files from different databases to sharepoint 2013?

    Hello everyone,
I need to migrate files of various formats from two databases to SharePoint 2013 ? How should I pursue? Please explain..
Scenario : Two different databases on different systems have loads of files. I need to migrate them to SharePoint?
    Any suggestions/ Answers

    Hi,
You need to copy the database into your network shared folder or SharePoint Server where you wanted to attach this content DB to your newly created web application.
    Hope and Afraid,
Same Domain has been used. I mean if you move the content db from the server 1 which using the AD1 for authenticate the users,
So your new server 2 and web application must have configured to authenticate the AD 1 users.Otherwise user not found exception will be thrown.
If not  still you can change the site collection administrator for the site which is migrated from the server 1.

  • Editing Via Network

    Here's what we envision:
A multiple TB server or array which will allow working via network with all FCP files, including Scratch discs and other elemental parts(music, logos, etc.). I've attempted working directly from our current server but with considerable slowdowns(scrubbing clips, playback, etc.), the dreaded star-wheel of death makes a regular appearance, and just would not be efficient given our daily deadlines.
The big problem is we are stacking local drives to no end and often run into difficulty locating previously edited episodes on each others externals.
We would like to see a consolidated working area where any editor can easily locate and re-edit/re-purpose individual episodes, all the while having a common scratch area. (Note: no two editors are working on the same project at any one time, i.e. avid-style)
    Suggestions?
    Thanks in Advance!
    -dave O'

    EditShare.
    Or XSAN, MetaSAN, SANmp, SANbox...
You need a VIDEO network. A regular old data network will not have what is required to edit streaming video. And yes, these are expensive solutions. EditShare is a big cheaper, and I like the way it does things. VERY Avid like.

  • How to migrate file & printers to office 365

    Hi all,
Sorry if this is a silly question but new to o365.
We're looking to put everything up in the cloud- before management will entertain the idea they need confirmation all services can be put in there.
I've looked around (perhaps not enough) for information on this. Does anyone have a link ?

  • Migrate files tiger to lion

I need help! I have an old Macbook that I've been using for several years and just picked up a new Macbook Air. I've never bothered to update the OS on the old one, so I'm still running Tiger 10.4.11 How can I transfer my applications & files from my old one to the new system. Migration Assistant does not work. I've been looking at multiple postings for answers, but it's now day 3 and I'm ready to pack up the new one and send it back. Worst case scenario - is it better to just take both computers to a Mac retailer and have them sort it out for me? I would prefer to learn and do it myself, but am frustrated enough now to pay someone else to do it.
    HELP!!!

If you haven't had this done yet, here is a way if you use Time Machine.
Back up everything from your Tiger Mac onto your Time Machine.
Plug it into your new Mac running Lion, open up migration assistant, you should be able to transfer everything from the time machine.
It's actually faster then using your network, I did Lion to Lion migration (over the network) and it took longer than Tiger to Lion migration using Time Machine.
