Migrating from Win2008R2 domain to Win2012 R2 domain and PolicyDefinitions folder
I have several AD/DCs running a 2008R2 domain services.
I have a centralized PolicyDefinitions folder to build a Central Store for ADM/ADMX files
I´ve installed 3 new AD/DCs based on Win2012R2 and everything is ok, for now
But when i use a Win2012R2 machine and open the GPMC, i cannot see the new Policies for WIn2012/Win8, therefore i can´t have access to new feature to be applied to my Win8 client machines
What should I do?
To copy the new ADM files, manually, to the PoloicyDefinitions Central Store folder?
I did a comparisson and most of the SYSVOL\PolicyDefinitions (Central Store) files are dated 2009 (2008 R2) and the files from c:\Windows\policydefinitons are dated 2013 (2012 R2)
I don´t have customized .ADM/ADMX files, only MS Office .ADM files (2007, 2010 and 2013), Google Chrome .ADM files and Firefox (Frontmotion) .ADM files
SOmes files were not overwritten and they have 2009 date and apparently they don´t have a newer version

I did a backup of the CentralStore , copied the whole bunch of files and i´m waitinh the replication to finish and evaluate if solved my problem

Hi,
Please re-create the Outlook profile to have a try. If the issue persists, we can do the further checks in Exchange server.
Please make sure you have changed the OAB generation server to Exchange 2010 and enable Web distribution on the Exchange 2010 Client Access server:

If all configurations are correct, please check whether there is any folder in the following path in Exchange sever 2010:
a. OAB generation in Mailbox:

b. OAB distribution in Client Access:
\\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\OAB

Migration from WLI2.0 to WLI2.1 - problems and solutions
We have experienced a number of issues when migrating from WLI2.0 (no service packs)
to WLI2.1 - We are only using the WLPI (BPM) part of WLI. We decided to publish
these issues in case they can be of help to others.
Problems:
1. The documentation (http://edocs.bea.com/wlintegration/v2_1/migrate/4zubemig.htm#998197)
says the migration process works from WLPI 1.2.1 and from WLI 2.0 (SP2, 3, 4).
What about WLI2.0 with no service packs - I don't see why BEA should have left
out migration from that platform. We decided to follow the process and see what
happened.
2. There is no indication in the documentation of how to run the GUI based migration
tools on Unix, only for Windows so we had to follow the manual route.
3. The Manual process refers (http://edocs.bea.com/wlintegration/v2_1/migrate/4zubemig.htm#999969)
to the DB variable setting scripts. It then says to run "migratedb.sh". None of
these files have extensions ".sh" - the files that were installed have no extension.
Obviously that did not stop us running them but the documentation needs correcting.
4. The migratedb scripts calls "WLI_HOME/setenv.sh" - it is confusing that there
is a second copy of this file in the bin folder called "setenv". Why are there
2 copies. Also I note that the one in bin is executable and the other is not.
All very confusing!!
5. The migratedb script fails to run because we have not previously run setDomain.
This is not documented.
6. Running setDomain on a domain moved from a WLI2.0 installaion fails since it
does not contain the expected folders. That basically means you cannot migrate
such a domain. We carried on with the process using the bpmdomain so that we could
at least migrate our database automatically.
7. Having run setDomain, we tried migratedb again but it failed because we had
not run switchdb. Again, this is not documented. We ran switchdb successfully.
8. Now running migratedb creates a file called "migrate.sh". Unfortunately the
script migratedb then attempts to run a file called "migrate". This is evidence
that no-one has ever tested this script at BEA and we are very disconcerted by
this fact!! We renamed the script and ran migratedb again - this time it ran the
migrate script.
9. This still fails with the following errors (when calling migrateCommonRep)

a. Since we had done no changes to filerealm.properties we simply copied the one
fron bpmdomain into our own domain.
b. We have been unable to run the step to migrate the common repository (see note
9). If this is referring to the XML repository then that should not be a problem
to us as we have not used it.
c. We moved the "migrate/BPM_20SP3-21.sql" script to an NT machine and ran that
script on our database. This seems to have successfully updated the database.
Lastly, having completed the migration process we tried to run the server but
it fails. This is because the startWeblogic script fails to call checkdomain properly.
We modified the line to become:
". $WLI_HOME/bin/checkdomain" # the '.' was missing
Does anyone else have any experiences with this that would help us all?

How do I migrate from 2.8GHz C2D to i7 SSD and HHD
Hi!
My new i7 Quad-Core iMac - 256 GB SSD /1TB Serial ATA - on Saturday. Using Migration Assistant to transfer the data from 2.8GHz C2D, I found that I was short 69GB of space; MA had fixed solely on the SSD. Googled the net for solutions. I decided to try Target Disk Mode. I was reassured to see that two hard drive icons appeared on the host screen: HD and HD2. HD is the SSD and HD2 is the Serial ATA.
Apple have installed the following six folders on the i7 HD/SSD drive: Applications, Home, Library, net, System and Users. My question is this: should I simply drag the similarly named folders on my C2D onto the i7 HD and HD2 icons, selecting, for instance, the Applications folder for the SSD and the Pictures/ Movies for the ATA? It this is OK, which Users /Library /System folders would be best suited to the SSD? I have a separate C2D folder for AppleWorks User Data; which drive should it be copied onto?
If the data has to be transferred in this way, won't there be two Applications folders, two Library folders, ... etc on the new computer?

Declan.I tried to disconnect everything from the motherboard including the backup battary, and then tried again after reconnecting everything to the motherboard with the old cpu, but the fsb is still locked to 133-233 instead of the 100-200. I guess something happened to the mainboard when I choosed load default values on startup when I tried with the new Pentium 4 2.8GHz Northood with 400 fsb and L2 cache of 512kb. I know that is supported as mentioned in this msi page http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=35&kind=1
I guess I have to try to find a new mainboard then, that fits my cpu, graphic card and memories. The graphic card is by the way a Geforce 4 5700LE with 256MB RAM if anyone has any suggestions.
...and no I can not flash the Bios since the system is not stable with the fsb at 133 instead of 100. -
AD Migration from NT 4.0 using New Domain Name & Unity UM
The customer currently has Unity 3.1(5) UM with Exchange 5.5 in NT 4.0 domain. They will be migrating to AD 2000 during phase 1 of the project, which will be followed by Unity upgrade to 4.0(4) a few weeks afterwards.
During the phase 1, Exchange 2003 will be introduced, but the mailboxes will remain in Exchange 5.5 until phase 2.
Here is the migration path proposed by the customer for the phase 1.
1. Current DNS will be isolated to a W2K server with the new domain defined in the DNS. All servers will point to this DNS server as their primary.
2. A BDC will be setup and then removed from our network.
3. Our PDC will be upgraded to Windows 2000 server. AD will be setup with a new domain of XXX.PRV
4. Service packs will be applied to the server.
5. The AD connector will be installed for Exchange 5.5
6. An additional W2K server will be brought online as a DC and additional global catalog.
I do realize that domain name change is not supported for Unity, but would this have any impact on Unity? Basically, the PDC that will be upgraded to W2K DC will retain old domain name (XXX_NT) as the NetBios name whereas the new DNS domain name will be XXX.PRV.
Since Unity does not need to talk to AD or Exchange 2003 at all until the phase 2, Im thinking this would be okay, but wanted to get some expert opinions on it. Also, the customer has tested some legacy servers in the lab, and they were able to authenticate against the XXX_NT domain name in the new XXX.PRV AD environment.
Phase 2 will consist of the following tasks.
1. Run DB Walker.
2. Back up using DiRT.
3. Extend AD schema.
4. Upgrade Unity to 4.0(4).
5. Disconnect Unity from Exchange 5.5.
6. Upgrade Exchange System Manager on Unity.
7. Re-establish Exchange partner relationship using Exchange 2003.
8. Run DB Walker.
9. Move Exchange 5.5 mailboxes to Exchange 2003.

HanYour project (from oh so long ago) looks very similar to what I am proposing to do now. I currently run Cisco Unity 4.0.4 SR1 with Exchange 5.5 (Unified Messaging), on an NT4 network. I have recently upgraded my network to Windows 2003 with Active Directory. I am building a new Exchange 2003 server in the new domain but not upgrading Unity 4.0.4--at least, not yet. I am looking to change the Partner Exchange server to point at the new Exchange server. I see no docs that cover such a scenario--only lateral moves (5.5 to 5.5, 2003 to 2003). As long as the ADC is in place, do you think I even have to change the Partner server when my new Exchange server comes online (initially)? How did your project turn out? Did you have to change the process you outlined above?

Migration from Oracle OC4J to Weblogic 10.3 and CLOB ClassCastException
I am migrating a web application from Oracle OC4J to Weblogic 10.0.3. In this application there are number of java files which uses the following piece of code and I can't change that:

I have deployed the application on Weblogic Application Server. But when I run the application, it gives me the following exception:

I have downloaded weblogic 10.3 two times but still got no solution. weblogic.jar does not contain weblogic.jdbc.vendor.oracle.OracleThinClob.
I have also read about using weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleClob to write unicode data but I do not find this package within the weblogic.jar

I want to migrate from using 2 computers (a mac mini and a macbook pro) to only the macbook
I currently use both a MacMini at home and a MacBook Pro while I'm on the road.
My email is sync'd via Google Mail, but I have photo's and documents (for my projects) that are not sync'd between the two computers.
I use Time Machine with difference external drives to backup each computer.
I would like to migrate to using only the MacBook but I need to make sure that both machines are sync'd and my photo's and documents are the same on both.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
The Mac Mini is running OSX 10.7.5 and the Mac Book is runing OSX 10.8.3

Problem with foreign and primary keys migration from SQL Server to Oracle
Hi folks, i'm using SQL Developer to migrate from a SQL Server database to Oracle and i'm stuck with a couple issues:
The worst of them so far is the fact that i can't migrate any of the PKs and FKs. After successfully capturing the SQL Server DB model and converting it to Oracle, when the tool generates the scripts, all ALTER TABLE queries that add the PKs and FKs have their target columns duplicated.
for example: when i'm trying to migrate a simple table that contains an Id (PK) and Name columns, the tool generates the following scripts:

Id NUMBER(10,0) NOT NULL,
Name VARCHAR2 NOT NULL

I tried a few things like
capturing twice and renaming both models the same
renaming the converted models
but with no luck.
I think this issue is occuring either at the capture or convert phase.
1) Are you performing the capture online or offline?
2) Can you provide a the entire DDL for one of these tables and its indexes to see if I can replicate?
3) Did the capture or convert fail or have to be redone at any stage ?
I all else fails I would attempt a capture and convert again using a brand new repository (create a new schema in Oracle and associate the migration repository with it).

I can't migrate from my old mac
Hello--
I have an old mac, OSX 10.4.11, and a new mac OSX 10.8.2. I have updated both computer's migration assistants, and followed the tutorial for migration assistant on Apple's support section. I've even tried several ethernet cables!
I click "migrate to a new mac" on my old mac, then "migrate from another mac" on the new mac, and the new mac tells me I need to update my migration assistant on my old mac. Since I just did that, I can't find any other apps that would involve a new/different update of migration assistant.
My old mac is pretty putsy and old... it's turning 7 this year. I haven't always been good about keeping all programs updated on it. Any ideas?

KateCreate a backup of the old computer onto an external HD using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy cloner or if you want do a one time backup clone using Disk Utility. Then use Migration Assistant along with the back up EHD and you're all set. Remember it will migrate apps if you have chosen that feature however you probably have some old PPC based apps that will not run on Mountain Lion.

I am also trying to migrate from 3.5.1 to 9.30 and getting an error unsuceesful log on.
I have instralled 3.5.1 on a different machine Windows server 2003 and Oracle 9i.
I ahve installed 9.3.0 on other machine and Oracle 10G.
While creating the application on 3.5.1 it has taken the user ge_adm ( which is also my windows NT login).
Now when i am trying to create user on 3.5.1, it comes with error invalid user name. Its not taking admin as user id also.
Now I am trying these steps for migration:
1. Copy the HspJSHome.properties file that you backed up before installing Planning 9.3.0.1
to the same folder that contains the new PlanningSystemDB.properties file. The location is
based on the application server being used.
2.Run the PropFileMig utility (PropFileMig.cmd) located in <drive letter>:
\Hyperion\Planning\Utils
Launch the Hyperion Configuration Utility. Under Planning, perform the Edit Datasource
task for each application you want to upgrade.
4. Restart the Planning application server and log on to Planning using this URL: http://
<hostname>:8300/HyperionPlanning/LogOn.jsp.
these 4 steps ran succesfully. However I have started facing problem from 5th step onwards.
Select the application you want to migrate from the drop-down list of applications. A
message is displayed that the application version needs to be migrated.
6. Enter your username and password again and select the application. Then click Migrate
(note that the LogOn button changed to Migrate). The application is migrated to the 9.3.0.1
release and you are logged on.
No migration button is there and I am not able to login in to the migrated application.
Please let me know what should I do?
Need urgent help.

The steps I usually take are (I am basing this on version 9.3.1 though but I dont think it differs that much) :-
Create a fresh planning application on version 9.3.0 make sure the admin is the same name as your old 3.5.1 planning app
Go into the oracle tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
Go into the oracle planning system tables and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application in question.
Stop Planning
Drop your 9.3.0 Planning App schema and Copy your old 3.5.1 planning oracle schema into the same locatiion
Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
Start planning
Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen.

Out of memory error in migrating from mysql to oracle

I'm trying migrate from mysql to oracle9i. The hardware and software requirements are matching or even much higher than mentioned in the documentation. I have installed OMWB is properly(hope so). When I try to migrate the desired database from mysql to oracle, the repository, the Oracle model are created successfully. But while migrating data, say for around 35000 rows insertion everything works pretty fine. But after sometime, the migration stops and no error or anything appears in the screen.And in the Errorlog I get "OutOfMemoryError".
I tried to migrate single table also. But I still get this problem after sometime. The tables may contain from 10 - 130000 rows...
I even tried to change the %JRE..% memory value to 64M or 128M in the omwb.bat file and the O/s is Microsoft Windows XP, RAM 256MB.
Any help is much appreciated.

did the message in the error.log provide any extra information? For example, was the OutOfMemory error prefixed with a string
like "cannot create new native thread" ? My suggestion to workaround the problem would have been to increase the JVM heap size to 128
but this appears to have been unsuccessful for you. Can you send a mail to the Migration Workbench support services
([email protected]) explaining the problem, and attach the full error.log file please ? (please also copy me on the mail).
In the meantime, you can workaround this by migrating the schema only (there is a switch on step 3 of the migration wizard asking:
"Do you want to migrate the table data to Oracle?" - just select the "No" option). When the schema has migrated, you can then use the
offline data loading facility to migrate the data. This uses data extraction scripts and SDQL*Loader to migrate the data to the target
Oracle database.You can learn more about the offline data loading facility from the plugins referenceguide (from the Help menu in
the Migration Workbench).

Migration from SQL SERVER 2008 to Oracle 10g issues.

I'm trying to migrate from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 10g and I end up with some issues that I wanted to ask some info about it.
First, I was following a tutorial

and and in the last version of Oracle SQL developer I downloaded, I didn't find the Load Database Capture Script Output option.
My first question is how can I either add this option or is there a new way to load the capture script ?
Then I use the migration wizard and after following everything, I had the migration complete message from the application.
When I tried to open my connectionss, it tells me version 11.2 is required. Does that mean that Oracle SQL developper 3 only
do the migration for oracle 11g? And if I tried the previous versions, it doesn't support SQL server 2008.
What do I do in this case ?

After using the wizard and made the offline migration script, in the Migration projects window I made a move data to the oracle connection I previously made and after when I tried to reopen the connection, I couldn't.
Well I didn't retry it yet to see if I'll have the same behavior but basically this is what I think I did. When I tried to open the connection I made, it says, Oracle 11.2 is required.
Now, I just generate target from the convert model and it says migration complete but how do I test it and I do I go to oracle and see change ?
Do I had to create a special user in SQL Server to log to it first ? How do I logon to it ?

Migrating from Solaris 2.6 to 8.0
We are migrating from Solaris 2.6 to 8.0, and my concern is all code and application which are on 2.6 is portable or not ?. Also we are using oracle 8.1.7 as out database. All code are written in C.

Upgrade Call Manager from 8.5(1) to 10.5(1) and migrate from MCS to UCS...
We are upgrading UCM from 8.5(1) to 10.5(1) and migrating from MCS to UCS. We used UCM 8.5 OVA (7500 user) and migrated to UCS.
Once migrated to UCS we upgraded UCM to 10.5(1). We wanted to use OVA to accommodate 10,000 users, hence took backup of 10.5(1) cluster and installed new servers with new 10.5(1) OVA (10,000 users).
While doing DRS restore, system we were not able to perform a restore. It seems UCM is not recognizing the XML file. It is strange as we took the back from UCM 10.5(1) and trying to restore same version, only difference is upgrade was done with 7500 user OVA and we are now trying to install 10,000 user OVA.
Has anyone run into similar issue? any help will be great.

Was using the same SFTP server for backups and restores during migration from 7.1(5) to 10.5 and during final rebuild/restore of the "to-be" production 10.5 Publisher, the DRS server was unresponsive and blamed the Master Agent or SFTP server. I had restarted Master and Local agent repeatedly, and regenerated ipsec certs to no avail.
TAC suggested I try a different SFTP server (which I already had, with the same files), and try deleting the .xml files that were included with the backup (drfComponent.xml and processhost.xml). I installed TitanFTP, per TAC's recommendation, deleted the processhost.xml file, regenerated the ipsec certificate one last time, restarted DRF Master, and then DRF Agent, and was able to start a DRS Restore.
Try the above process if you're still having issues. -

Hi All,
Can some body help on business rules migration from one server to other server? and also wt is the difference there in Export and import BR's and Administration repository to migrate.........i fail to understand if we export and import br's and need to change in xml target server and after import whether all users can able to see this imported BR's ?
then wt is the use of Administration option under Business Rules-->right click-->repository...connect--->need to connect oracle info....wt is this process? can some body help on this please........

The methods are pretty much the same in what they do.
When you export rules it creates an xml file based on the selection you have picked, you can just log into EAS and do this you don't have knowledge about the repository, it is also useful for migrating across versions. You also have the option of changing the xml file before importing it into your target.
When you migrate the respository you have to physically connect to the database repository and have knowledge of the connection details, it is probably aimed directly at a system admin.
The options in both methods are pretty much the same, you can choose what you want to export or migrate.
You hit issues when you export/migrate for instance the location names change and need to be updated, you can update the xml file to change the locations though if you choose the migrate option you won't have that ability.
The next issue is the user/group accounts which is the biggest flaw, if the users/groups exist on the target and have the exact same SID then they will migrate otherwise they will usually get dropped.

Mac not reading VOB files on some burnt DVD-R
I want to use Mpeg Streamclip to convert VOB files to a quicktime file. I'm successful in doing this when I burn a DVD-R from Mac software. But when I put in a dvd-r into my Mac that was recorded "on-the-fly" on my Panasonic DVD recorder, it shows th
