Migrating Relational Model to Object-Relational Model

Hi,
Can someone direct me to appropriate tutorial/examples in migrating spatial relational model to object-relatonal model.
I have the following tables in the relational model:
ROADS
ROADS_SDODIM
ROADS_SDOGEOM
ROADS_SDOINDEX
ROADS_SDOLAYER
What tables would I need to create in the object-relational model?
Can someone advice me on how to use this function sdo_migrate.to_current?
Thanks in advance!

There are a number of Object Oriented databases out there, with Gemstone perhaps the best known. Also, Oracle, and other RDBMS vendors are adding more object oriented features all the time.
However, there are some downsides to OO databases. One of the biggest is that it is often really difficult to query the data directly. All interaction with the database needs some sort of mapping layer to instantiate the objects and get their attributes. It is also difficult, and sometimes impossible, to generate ad hoc queries that try to look at the data in a way that does not match the object model, something that is relatively easy in a well designed relational model.
Finally, object oriented databases represent a more or less one to one mapping to a currently popular programming paradigm. What happens to the data when the next great programming paradigm (foo perspective) comes along? Will the foo prgrammer be able to easily read the objects in the OO database? Probably not. Will the foo programmer be able to easily read the relational data? Almost certainly.

  • Migrating AD Exchange 2013 Objects to a new AD Domain

I have a client 'new company' (NC) who is splitting from the 'parent company' (PC).  They are using a 3rd party tool to conduct the AD migration/split.
The PC AD domain is on Windows 2012 Servers and has trust relationship with the NC AD domain also running on windows 2012 server.  The users and computers have been successfully migrated/stubbed to the NC domain, however, the Exchange 2013 objects
are not migrating over to the NC AD domain using the 3rd party AD migration tool.
Question, does any one have suggestions on how to migrate the exchange 2013 objects from the PC AD to the NC AD ?
What techniques can be used ?
    Thanks in advance
    RK

What 3rd party tool are you using and have you contacted their support already? You can use the native tools to migrate mailboxes (I do all the time) but I wouldn't try and mix the native tools and a 3rd party tool on the same migration unless I was sure
what the end result would be.

  • Data Migration - Data Models Dependency

    Hi,
In major ERP data migration and transformation project from legacy to SAP or from SAP to SAP, one should finalize the sequence in which data should be migrated. e.g. Vendor data cannot be migrated before customer data, or tax data should be uploaded first then customer data .. etc. Is there available any best practice or reference for such dependencies ? Primary models and secondary models which depend on primary models ?
Please share such content if you have, I'm sure it will be helpful to many.

The best way is to use iTunes. Back up your old iPad. Unplug it, plug your new one in and go through the set up process. When you get the question 'set up as new or restore from backup' choose to restore from the backup you just made. Your app data and information will be put onto your new iPad.
You may need to redownload apps, but since the app data is already there, you should not lose progress on games or the such.
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2109
has directions. You can also use iCloud backup, but I personally prefer iTunes since it takes the internet out of the equation and things are done locally (beyond redownloading apps if needed)

  • Concept Question : Migrate SQL Models

Hi Oracle SQL Data Modeler users.
I have a question. How, if it at all, do you migrate a Database from Version 1 of the model to version 2?
e.g. I've created the tutorial for a library. (Patrons; transactions; books).
Now I've generated the DDL and imported it into Oracle (or any other database).
Now I wish to change the model by adding an ISBN number and changing the domain of Person Name to 50 characters instead of 25.
All of this is fine. But Oracle generates new DDL for complete new tables.
How do I migrate the current data model from Version 1 to Version 2? Is this possible? How do other users manage this problem?
i.e. if the solution is with DDL, I'm looking for alter table statements rather than create table statements
    Thanks

    Hi Martin,
I suggest you look at these messages in the forum:

    Sumit,
I am trying to figure out how to implement copying a quote line from one quote to another. Could you please let me know waht you found out regarding the usage of package. • Migrating OLAP Models and Metaoutlines from EIS to Studio.

    Hi All,
I'm trying to migrate metaoutlines and olap models from EIS to Essbase Studio.
I am able to fetch all the models and metaoutlines but after that when i click on the Migrate button, it throws me this error:
Reading results from query for reading view attr failed. java.lang.NullPointerException
    Any idea whats going wrong?
    Kindly help.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,

It just means that in the dropdown you need to pick the name that maps to the schema where your meta/data tables are stored for the EIS model/metaoutline you are migrating.

  • Migration related query

A migration of the Development server has happened . It has been a homogeneous migration .The hostname has changed. Due to the change in the hostname ,the system does not  recognize the current system as the original system in which developments have been done and when any object is modified , it gives the warning 'Carry out repairs in non-original system only if they are urgent' and opens in the Modification Assistant mode .
What needs to  be done for working around this issue ?
Can I update all 'Y' objects in the table TADIR , changing the value of field SRCSYTEM ? Is that a possible solution ? Does anything else need to be done  ?

this case will usually happen when lower version programs are copied to higher version, it will not create any problem.

  • Migration from Access with SQL Developer 1.2.2998 Does not migrate Relation

    Hi,
I've almost successfully migrated an Access database to Oracle with SQL Developer with Quick Migration Option. Everything went all right, except for the tables relationships... they were not migrated. Have I forgot to do something?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Migration related question

    Hi,
Is it possible to upgrade from Oracle9i to Oracle12c using the "Migration" function of SQLDeveloper?
    Thanks,

No.  SQL Developer migration is for migrating from non-Oracle databases to Oracle.
DBMS upgrade is done using the DBMS software.  Refer to the Upgrade manual for 12c.

  • Print migration and old eDir object assoc. to manager

I did a print migration from NW 6.5 SP7 to OES 2 SP1 linux. It said it completed but with errors. On first look, everything seemed fine. But now I found that if I manage the Print Manager and go into Printer Agents --> Tasks and look at the 'edir object name' some of the printers have the old printer name (i.e. printer_nw.printers.company). There were 21 printers migrated in this run and 4 have the _nw objects assigned to them. If I try to manage those printers I get an error saying "Invalid Object: The selected object is not a valid type for this property book. ". Whilst, the other printers (without the _nw) are fine. Also, I looked it consoleone all of the new printer objects have been created. It just seems that the manager has the old edir names assigned to some printers.
I know I can just recreate those printers and thatd care of it, but Id rather not. Is there any way to change the "edir object name" in the manager that points to the printers?
    Thanks!

    hi,
In iprint migration in order to create the iPrint Printer Object in the
same context we have to rename the existing object. Sometime it happens
that when we have renamed the objects and if you login to iManager
iPrint Manager Print Manager it still shows the Older printer object.
This is a typical problem of eDirectory not syncronized with other
replicas. May if you would wait all the printer which you would have
tried migrting would have been renamed to _nw in the same container.
Please try migrating and ensure your replicas are in sync. It will work.
The newer iPrint printer agent would have been created on the same
    container.
    thanks

  • Migration of SAP Business Objects BI Platform 4.1 from Windows(OS), SQL Server(DB) to AIX(OS) and Oracle(DB).

    Dear All,
I have SAP Business Objects BI Platform 4.1  running on window servers and sql server database. We want to migrate this to  AIX and oracle.
Can you please share what should be the best approach to carry on this migration?
    Regards,
    Asleh

    Hi Mohammed,
Regarding your Query below is the suggestion:
Step I: Preparing for moving BOBJ application from Windows to AIX
There are some tasks that you need to perform:
    To configure the existing deployment
Perform inventory and cleanup, to ensure that only the required content is moved.
Run the Repository Diagnostic Tool to detect any inconsistencies between the File Repository and the CMS repository. The upgrade management tool will not run successfully if there are inconsistencies between the File Repository and the CMS repository.
Identify any content that the upgrade management tool can't upgrade, along with the process required to upgrade that content. There is some content like Voyager Workspaces or Desktop Intelligence documents that require manual intervention before running the upgrade management tool.
Back up existing repositories, including the system database and the Input and Output File Repository Servers.
Back up custom web applications, HTML pages, and scripts in your existing deployment.
To configure the planned BI 4.x deployment
Setup and configure the Middleware and ODBC connections.
Ensure that your machines meet the deployment system's requirements, you can find information about the supported platforms in the Platform Availability Matrix (PAM) http://service.sap.com/support -> Help and Support -> SAP BusinessObjects Support -> Documentation -> Supported Platform s/PARs -> SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.x
    Step II:
You can use database backup & FRS backup (Offline) in new environment (AIX) to deploy BOBJ 4.x Version
Take the help of DBA to move CMS & AUDIT database backup from SQL Server (Windows) to Oracle (AIX)
Test the Universe, reports, Check the rights
    Step III:
If you are configured any SSO then make sure that same configuration is deployed in new environment (AIX).
Test the user SSO in new environment (AIX).
    Or
You can also use Promotion manager to move the contenet from Windows (Business Objects Application) to UNIX (Business Objects Application)
Only prerequisite is Business Objects Application version should be same.
You can copy content only 50 Object at a time in One Job
    FRS Offline backup is required.
Necessary files regarding custom web applications, HTML pages, and scripts in your existing deployment.

  • IS-U: Migration- Issue with DEVICE object using EMIGALL

    Hello Friends,
I need a quick help. The issue is here below.
I am using the object DEVICE to create Device/Equipment. I could able to create an Equipment however I found that in EQUI table the field SERNR is not updated.  Actually this field should have the value of EQUNR.
I had tried many times wih differenct possible options but this field is empty in all the trials. I am also using the auto structure CONTR and its sub strucutures COMMIT, UPDATE, INDIV, CONV filling with  'X'   but the result is only this field SERNR is not updated in the table EQUI.
Without this field SERNR being field I cannot perform Device Installation (Full/Technical/Billing).
    Please share your ideas.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Vijay.

    Hi Vijay
    That's possible...
I assume transaction IQ01 and EMIGALL are using the same function EQUIPMENT_INSERT.
If NEW_VEQUI-EQUNR contains already a number, the function does not get a new number from the number range object, for example with external numbering. In case there's no EQUNR given, a new number is taken from the number range object, internal numbering.
If no SERNR is provided when calling EQUIPMENT_INSERT, there won't be a SERNR in EQUI. Just check if IQ01 provides the serial number when calling EQUIPMENT_INSERT.
This means another possible solution is to get a new number for EQUNR in EMIGALL and populate EQUNR and SERNR before calling the service function module ISU_M_EQUI_INSERT. Call function module NUMBER_GET_NEXT for object EQUIP_NR.
This can be done on field level by setting the Processing Type to 4 = Rule (check which of the two fields comes first - EQUNR or SERNR - to assign the number from NUMBER_GET_NEXT and copy the value for the second field) or via events see menu item Utilities: Event, when you're in the object maintenance screen.
    Yep

  • Migration of Zenworks NAL Objects to SCCM

Is there a documented migration path or tool to migrate Novell Zemworks NAL to SCCM?

Don't loose your time to search, there is NO way to migrate from NZ to ConfigMgr nor 2007 nor 2012. You should start from scratch.
