Migrating Reports 2.5 to Reports 10g

Hi All,
How to convert Oracle Reports 2.5 to Reports 10g?. Can we convert it directly from 2.5 to 10g?. Do we have to convert it to an intermediate version before converting to 10g?.
Regards,
Prasad.

Beginning with Oracle Reports Developer Release 2.5, there is no upgrade necessary: reports can be opened by any later Oracle Reports release.

  • Migrate reports from 6i to 10g

    Hello friends,
I want to migrate reports created in oracle 6i report builder
    to
    oracle 10g.
Please give me steps for that.
    Arvind2

It happens on all machine. We use browser to launch the application and the report is called from forms (10.1.2). We didn't change any code in report and neither the fonts (Tahoma). In 6i, client server environment, windows can find the font. I guess in 10g web environment, the font is not as default. HP Laserjet 8000N is a network printer which I use to testing my report. everything is fine in 6i but not 10g. Here is my question.
    1. How to check printer setup? Should I use the default font from Linux instead of Tahoma?
    2. I found a note in metalink, Note:356221.1 which explains the procedures to deploy reports from windows to Linux. I am not sure my problem is related to the font or something else...
    Thanks for you reponse.

    Hope this will help you.

  • Migrating Graphs from Reports 6i to Reports 10g

While migrating Graphs from Reports 6i to Reports 10g is there a possibility of maintaining the same graphs rather than recompiling them using the Graph Wizard of Reports 10g. I have hundreds of reports with graphs and will be an uphill task to re-draft all the graphs. Kindly suggest alternatives to overcome this dead-lock.
    Thanx in advance
    Sridhar

    Hello Sridhar,
10g is not supporting Graphics builder. So you got to create/insert all these 6i graphs in 10g. Open the 6i report and compile in 10g. It will give you file not found error. Delete the graph area in the layout editor.
Then drag the chart icon and drop in layout. Redesign again. Offcourse it is not fun. But there is no way.
Also there are tons of bugs in 10g report Graphs. You won't find some cool features like Others % option in the pie slice provided by Graphics bulider. You got to change graph.xml file for some of the features. Even the graphs looks ugly in 10g. Migrating graph reports is really frustrating in 10g. But we have no choice. Recently we migrated to 10g. Becareful with matrix reports. 10g keeps on getting crashed when ever we develop matrix report. GOD knows the reason.
But 10g has some very very good features like Distribution

  • Migration from SQL Server Reporting Services to Oracle Reports 10g

    Hi,
I have few reports which have been created using the Microsoft Sql Server Reporting Services. Now i want to create similar reports using Oracle Reports 10g.
Will i need to start from scratch the creation or is there migration tool that would reduce the efforts for the same.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Migration report 6i 10G (10.1.2.0.2)

Hello, I have a problem for the pìmigrazione from Report 6i to Report 10G in Linux .
I use in order to convert such code:
    /rwconverter.sh source=/u01/app/oracle/OraHome_2/RPT.RDF stype=rdffile dest=RPT.RDF dtype=rdffile userid=ora/ora@net compile_all=yes
But they give the following error to me: REP-0152: Positional argument specified after keyword.
    You have some idea?
    Thanks

Does this happen for all reports or for only one report?
Try the same for one simple report and check whether it works fine.
Also if u have reports builder 10g open in 10g and check whether report
    gets upgraded.

  • Image_Item not working in Reports 10g

we can't use ImageItems in our report.
we had a table with some images in a column with Datatype Longraw. Because we can't use that with Forms/reports 10g, we cahnged the Table-Column to Blob and migrated the Data with Import/Export. Within Forms we don't have any problem, we can display the old migrated pictures, we can import new images with Webutils Client_Image.Read_Image_Item and we can display those new images as well.
But now we have a problem with Reports. Our Report has an item (the new Blob_Column) in the query and that item is displayed within the report. If the Report is run for a record with a migrated Image, it works fine, but with a new Record and a new imported Image_Item, the Report fails (on the Server) with the following information in EM :
Mit Fehler beendet: REP-69: Interner Fehler REP-62203: Interner Fehler beim Lesen des Bildes - Unable to render RenderedOp for this operation..
it is a very small Report but with 2 images (both are small).
    Any ideas out there ?
    regards,
    Mark

    Found the solution by myself.
The Problem isn't within Reports it is within Forms. The Image_Item has to set to FileType "BMP" instead of "JFIF".
    That solved the problem.

  • Issue migrating reports with Graphical features.

    Hi guys,
I am working on migrating reports from 10g to 11g and I have an issue with the reports which contains a Graph. They are giving the following error when I run them against the 11g report server(they are running fine against the 10g server with out any issues)
    The report terminated with error:
    REP-56048: Engine rwEng-1 crashed., job Id: 24.
I have searched on Google, for a solution to fix them, the closest I found was Installing Oracle Graphics 6i engine in a separate Oracle Home, but this was said for 9i and 10g, you can find that in the below oracle document:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/reports/graph-faq-with-style-094084.html#q101
Does anyone know, if I can Install Oracle Graphics 6i engine in a separate Oracle Home for 11g too?, to make them work at least, if not modifying the existing ones?
    Thanks,
    Sona.

    Hi Sona,
unfortunately installing Graphics 6i in a separate OH for 11g wont work. This option was only possible until Reports 10g as a temporary option while migrating to the new BI beans graphing functionality included in 10gR2 and 11g.

    Migrating Oracle Graphics 6i charts
How do I migrate my charts from Oracle Graphics to the new graph format in Oracle9i Reports or Oracle Reports 10g?
Oracle9i Reports Release 1 onwards, Oracle Graphics has been desupported. Oracle9i Reports and Oracle Reports 10g use BI Beans to generate graphs. Because of the underlying technology, there is no direct migration path from Oracle Graphics to the BI Bean graphing functionality. As such, the user will need to rewrite all of their graphs using the new Graph Wizard within the Reports Builder.

Can I still run my existing Oracle Reports Developer 6i reports containing Oracle Graphics charts in Oracle Reports?
As noted in the Oracle Reports Statement of Direction, Oracle Graphics is no longer shipped with Oracle Reports. However, as part of the migration path, you can still run Oracle Graphics charts in Oracle Reports if you install the Oracle Graphics 6i engine in a separate Oracle Home. You should only maintain Oracle Graphics 6i as a temporary measure while you redesign your charts using the new Graph Wizard. For further details on how to configure Oracle to use Oracle Graphics 6i, please see the Graphics Migration section in the Oracle9i Application Server Migration from Oracle9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2.2.x) to Release 2 (9.0.2) manual.

Can I modify or add Oracle Graphics 6i charts to my reports with Oracle9i Reports or Oracle Reports 10g?
No. You must have a separate installation of Oracle Graphics 6i Builder in order to modify your existing Oracle Graphics 6i charts since Oracle Graphics is not shipped with Oracle Reports. We strongly recommend that you migrate your charts to the new standard in Oracle Reports.
    Thanks, RZ

  • Forms 6i and Reports 10g

    Hello together,
You can see at the subject that I want to combine Forms 6i and Reports 10g.
Why? 6i does not support html interpretation and unicode.
So what do you think about the kombination with old (Forms) 6i and new 10g (Reports)?
How does the Reports published in 10g ?
    Paul
ps: sorry for my bad english

Reports in WebForms needs OAS (Oracle Application Server) to be published, they are viewed over the net in a browser.
It's a very bad idea to combine them and most of the things will not work, even if make them work it will cost you lot more than just simply, migrate your application to Froms 10g.
It would be easier for you to migrate your whole application to Forms 10g

  • Include file MSWORD in Orale Report 10g

    Hy,
i have a report developed with Oracle Developer 6i and inside it
there is an OLE2 object than contains a Word Document.
Now i would migrate this report in Report 10g but OLE2 is not supported
    because is deprecated.
How can I resolve my problem ?
    Giuseppe

    Thank you for your answer,
but it doesn't work for my problem, because my report is
a complex report with a lot of items (standard) and not only one OLE object.
Imagine that my report have a part that read from db and another part that read my Word document and the report format all objects toghether.
So I need to leave standard objects in the report and substitute OLE object with an alternative compatible solution.
How can i resolve it ?

  • Problem to rewrite client/server MS Word report in Reports 10g

    Hi all,
We are going to migrate 4.5 forms application to 10g and we have the following problem.
In the old client/server application we are calling some DB function which returns the character string and we are writing this string into the text file (TEXT_IO). Afterwards the text file is formatted using MS WORD (called from the form with DDE.APP_BEGIN) and .DOT template file.
In forms 10g in order to implement the same functionality we found two possible solutions:
    •     Generate the file on the OAS , transfer it to client machine with WEBUTIL and manually run MS WORD in the batch file and generate the report
    •     Generate the Oracle Report.
We are more inclined to the second solution but in order to develop the report it should be based on some table or view or REF CURSOR. The called DB function contains six cursors and it will be very difficult to rewrite it with one cursor in order to use REF Cursor. In this case we have to use the temporary table but it doesn’t look as a best solution.
What could be an alternative solution?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Alex

    Bill and Kileen,
Thanks both. That is just what was needed. I tested and it works fine now.
The same is also mentioned in the User Guide / Release Notes that accompanied the toolkit.
I happened to collect some other webpages and .pdf that talk of other issues. In case someone happens to need this (.zip file would be less than 1 MB), please feel free to write at [email protected]

  • Report 10g

i have system in 6i and i doing migration to 10g
and during the migration process i facing problem in reports
first problem : i call parameter form and when press submit query not running
2nd problem : drill down in report 10g how do this

    hi Anuj,
There is a command called rwclient.sh. It submit the report jobs to report server. Through coding(e.g., JAVA) you can schedule this command, so that it should submit the job to the report server at the desired time.
I have also come to know that OAS 10g has the feature of report scheduling. But I dont know exactly you have to do for that.

  • How to add Oracle Graphics 6i charts (OGD) to my Oracle Reports 10g

    Hi,
Is there any possibility to add Oracle Graphics 6i Charts (.OGD) to Oracle Reports 10g
    (OR)
If not possible, Can you please provide steps to migrate OGD to any format that is supported in Oracle Reports 10g.
    Regards,
    Swethan

Oracle Graphics and its OGD image format are no longer supported. Reports built with previous versions of Oracle Reports containing Oracle Graphics charts will continue to run in Oracle Reports 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) if the Oracle Graphics 6i runtime is installed on the same machine in a separate ORACLE_HOME. However, this is not a supported configuration, and Oracle will not fix bugs that result from this configuration.
