Migration Help with createEmptyMovieClip
Hi,
I'm having some big problems trying to migrate this part of
code from AS2 to AS3. I'm newbie, and tried to google examples, but
i still can't get it. If someone could really help me, please.

New iMac extremely slow following migration (Help with Etre Check diagnosis)
Hi gurus,
New iMac - scheduled for genius bar on Friday but trying to avoid the trip. Migrated everything over from 2009 macbook pro to 2011 macbook and now 2013 iMac. I imagine there is a lot of cruft from the repeated migrations and am close to just wiping and migrating from scratch. I don't know, however, how to get my old mail and other critical settings over.
Problem is clearly in the user account. I created a separate admin account and that runs relatively fine. Is the below user account salvageable? Should I delete all my old permissions? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks for the Etrecheck program,

Hello, I need help with my macbook pro.
It looks like I cannot install anything anymore. Everytime I try to install a new software, I simply get stuck during the installation type process. I put in my password, it does accept it, but it does not go any further.
I tried to reset the password, put no password, repair the permissions, the disk but nothing will do. I nearly got stuck with the log in screen but finally succeeded in disabling it.
So I thought I might try to create a new account but I cannot click the lock to make changes. It simply refuses to react.
I am now thinking about using the migration assistant to save all my settings, data and so fourth, but again I get stuck when I have to type in my password. It accepts it but nothing happens...
I guess it has something to do with the authorization process, but can't find anything on the internet about it... Can you help me out?
I am running Lion 10.7.3.

First, backup your system. Next, reboot your system, press/hold the COMMAND-R keys to boot into the Recovery HD. Select 'Reinstall Mac OS X'. If you purchased Lion as an upgrade to Snow Leopard, the reinstall process will install Lion 10.7.3. If your system came preinstalled with Lion, you might still get Lion 10.7.2. Both installs are a total install of the OS. None of your apps or data will be impacted. Just the OS. -

You could use transaction KCLJ to upload the existing flows. For this you need a sender file with the flows you want to upload. This file you can create manually or by a report in the old/legacy system that writes the file in your file system.
The sender structure must be defined in transaction KCLL and you could use transaction KCLT to create or change a file to test the upload program.
You will also find some information in the online documentation.
Please be aware that the upload of flows must be tested very exactly. Iif you take over 'wrong' flows, this could cause serious problems in the future when you work with the contracts.

I have used Migration Assistant to move files over from old Dell machine to iMac
1 - It didn't transfer some files like movies. IS there a way to run it again and select the files that I want to retrieve.
2-It pulled over a number of files that I do not need. How do I delete these permanently from iMac
3-It created new User Accounts that were on the PC. Do I need to keep these for any reason and if not how do I delete them.1 - I tested Migration Assistant with Win7 but since I'm not a Windows user by choice I didn't have lots of files and certainly no Windows only files. Were the files that didn't transfer Window Media files? Since those won't run on a Mac without 3rd party support I can see why they might not copy. At any rate, no, Migration Assistant is pretty much a an all or nothing transfer application. The files that didn't transfer can by copied via a flash drive or you could do it via the Internet using a cloud syncing service like DropBox or SugarSync
2 - drag files you don't want to the trash and then empty it.
3 - You can remove any accounts you don't need. Open the System Preferences and select Users and Groups. There's a lock icon in the bottom left corner. Click it and type in your user password. Now you can select any account you wish to delete and click the minus sign which is at the bottom of the window pane with the account names. You must keep 1 account minimum and it must be an administrator account. Also, when you delete an account you'll be offered the option of deleting the files (if any) associated with that account or creating a disk image with all the files inside. If there's nothing in those accounts you want to keep, just choose delete. -
Migrate Roles failes when migrating VMs with legacy network adapters (2008R2 - 2012)
I'm working on a upgrade of Hyper-V 2008R2 cluster to Hyper-V 2012 cluster. I am using the "migrate roles" feature of failover clustering to migrate the CSV's and VM's. The wizard ask to which switch the VMs need to be connected on the target cluster.
All VMs with network adapters can be started in the new cluster without any issues. If you look at the XML file of the migrated VMs with normal network adapters, a new XML has been generated in the proper 2012 format. However, all VM's with a legacy
network adapter fail to start. Also there is no migrated XML file in the VM directory. It is impossible to check or adjust the settings of the migrated VMs with legacy network adapters using the failover clustering console.
I have reproduced the issue in my lab several times, and it seems like a bug.
There are several workarounds, but I am looking for a real solution.Hi,
We recommend that you use the legacy network adapter only to perform a network-based installation or when the guest operating system does not support the network adapter.
If the virtual machine continues to use the legacy network adapter it will not be able to leverage many of the features available in the Hyper-V virtual switch. You may want
to replace the legacy network adapter after the operating system is installed.

I have a problem where I need to use a corporate designed
.swf in a digital signage solution, but have been told by the legal
department that it can not be modified in any way, I also can't
have the source file yada yada. I pulled the .swfs from their
website and I decompiled them to see what I was up against.
The main swf that I need to control is HCIC.swf and the
problem is it starts w/ a preloader, which after loading stops on a
frame that requires user input (button press) on a play button,
before the movie will proceed and play through.
What I have done so far is to create a container swf,
HCIC_container.swf that will act as Target for the HCIC.swf, and
allow me to send actionscript to the file I'm not allowed to
modify.
I managed to get that done with the help of someone on
another forum. It was my hope that the following script would just
start HCIC.swf at a frame past the preloader and play button, and
just play through.

ActionScripting is far from my strong point, so I'm
definitely over my head here.

Upgrading: Migration Assistant with FireWire or Time Machine Restore?

I recently ordered a new Black Penryn MacBook to replace my 17" iMac. Would you recommend using the Migration Assistant with FireWire or a Time Machine restore in order to copy all of my data to the MacBook? I have the option to do both, but am unsure of which would be the best. Is the time machine restore more suited to restore a failed drive as opposed to facilitating a data transfer between two machines? Finally, regarding either of the transfer options, will there be any issues with keychain or application data that I should be aware of? Thanks for your help!Those are two of the option presented by Migration Assistant. I think the end result will be the same. If I was doing it, I'd use the FireWire method, just because it's coming directly from the source instead of through a backup archive structure.

Although there is information there about it, it links to Microsoft's website with details about it but they're pretty vague. Which particular sequence are you trying with Windows Server, and what's confusing you about it? (So that somebody here might be able help with this.)
What OS X Server version? If you're trying to do IPv6 on 10.6.8, AFAIK that involves manually editing the zone files, and that can perturb Server Admin.app. Based on a quick look, there's no IPv6 AAAA record support in the GUI. (But you're probably using the Microsoft Windows Server DNS servers?)
Which Windows Server?
The best fix is to register a real domain and migrate the local network and the domain servers over to that. The Apple networking engineers have recommended against using .local for DNS for a while. They've indicated they try to make this work, but that it likely won't be reliable. Microsoft is moving away from this, as well. -
Migration Problems with Time Capsule and New MacBook Pro
Hopefully someone on here can help with with this problem I'm having. I just bought the new 13' MacBook Pro this week from the store and I no longer have my old MacBook Pro. I have a Time Capsule with complete backups of my old MacBook Pro and I also have the internal hard drive from it as well.
I had installed the beta version of Mountain Lion on the old MacBook Pro and the new one still has Lion.
The problem is that every time I have tried to use the Migration Assistant (and I've tried 3 times now) my files and applications are getting messed up.
iPhoto won't open. It says that it needs to be updated but when I check to update it it says that there is no update needed.
I'm seriously about to beat my head against the wall because every time I migrate the data it takes about 12 hours. I'm thinking at this point that it might be easier for me to just swap out the internal hard drives in the units because it is possibly an issue with the OS' and wait until next month to try migrating to the new drive again after Mountain Lion is officially launched.Bob,
I appreciate your honest and prompt response. I was VERY SPECIFIC when I told the sales rep I was hoping to use the Time Capsule with two different MacBook Pro's on different subnets (one is behind a firewall on a router, one is directly connect to a WAN side IP with no firewall) and the sales rep made a point of saying that the dual band feature would facilitate this connectivity which left me with the impression (obviously wrong) that the WiFi features of the time capsule could be used to communicate with multiple Macs regardless of their own networking configurations. (I have been configuring fairly complicated networks for 20 years and only bought my first Mac two and a half years ago; the second Mac is only six months old; the third will be bought next month.)
This isn't the end of the world for me... it does require reconfiguring my network and doing a lot of port tunneling for the box outside of the firewall in order to bring it inside as well as giving up some remote access redundancies (which were based on the ability to connect to both machines using VNC software which is port specific which means that it needed separate WAN side IP addresses).
Overall I love the Mac approach compared to the nightmare that was (is) Windows (although I do also run an Ubuntu Linux box just to keep me honest). That said, your sales reps do your products a HUGE disservice when they give glib and incorrect answer to what was, I believe in my case, a very specific and precise question.

Not exactly iweb - need help with a graphic for my site
This doesn't fit anywhere so dumping it here. I drew by hand a graphic I want to use with iweb to put on my site as my site's logo. Main problem is that getting the background transparent isn't working well as when it was scanned the scanner didn't back the background "pure" white. I have tried adjusting the whitepoint and setting the color depth down, but still no good. I don't know a ton about graphic program use. I have an older copy of graphic converter that came on this powerbook when i got it. I would be fine having the graphic loose the marker look and have solid fill colors - just I am not good enough with computer drawing tools to do it on the computer! So I either need to get a volunteer to help me out, or some help with some detailed instructions to get this to work out... (also I am broke so no cost/shareware is only option here)

I have a cleaner copy now after someone suggested GIMP, so played with it last night - though couldn't figure out transparency - that was clear on converter- just not cooperative till these wonderful directions.
So now I know how to do it without messing with the pic, and with messing with it - both good lessons and got a bit brighter color out of the deal.

Help with converting FLAC to ALAC while retaining metadata and cover art

I've decided to embark on the long trek to convert my 18k+ FLAC music library into ALAC. I've decided on ALAC for mainly 2 reasons: iTunes/iPhone/iMac/Sonos compatibility and my desire to keep with a lossless format.
My library is pretty eclectic; I have quite a bit of classical music along with many other genres. I have spent quite a bit of time maintaining the correct tag information; I do not want to lose any of this info that I've painstakingly added to my library over the years. The tags that I use on my FLAC files are:

Title
Artist
Album

I want to be especially sure that I maintain the data in Composer, Orchestra, Performer and Conductor in my migration to ALAC. I also want to include my CD art in each track (many of which I had to scan since some of my CD's are not available for sale). The CD covers are stored in a "folder.jpg" file in the path of each CD's contents. I would really like the automated conversion process to pick up each "folder.jpg" and embed it in the appropriate tracks.
I have a license for dbPowerAmp, so I can do the conversion on the Windows side if need be (I have BootCamp set up and use Fusion), but I would prefer to do everything in Mac.
I am hoping that some of you good folks will offer up comments about the feasibility of this endeavor, and advise me on possible tools to use, paths to take, pitfalls to watch out for, etc.

MikeI finally got done with the conversion. It took 2 weeks running XLD of 24x7, but at last it's over with.
I first used iTunes "download missing album art" to start the process. It populated about 50% of my collection, but I found that many of the album art was wrong. For instance, with collections (various artists) it populated the album art from the first track; with others, it put in the wrong album cover for the right CD. These were mostly because iTunes would get a contemporary cover, where my cover was from an older pressing of the disk.
I purchased a program called TuneUp which has helped with my missing album artwork, and also with correcting typos. But even with using TuneUp, I probably have a couple of weeks worth of work left to do.
Then comes the renaming of the Classical music tracks.

Help with tables (should be simple...)
I'm trying to use a Table component as a spreadsheet template in my app:
I'd like the first column to be static-y labels (such as Sunday, Monday, etc.) and the rest of the columns to be bound to a relational data source. I thought that I could just create a simple String array of labels in the session bean and then wrap that array with an Object Array Data Provider on the page and bind the table column to the Object Array Data Provider. Doing this doesn't give me the desired/expected results, namely the first column displaying the labels. What am I missing? I can't seem to visually wrap an Object Array Data Provider around anything other than a bult-in DataType array (String, Integer, etc.) and the only properties of the String array that I can choose from for the column are CASE_INSENSITIVE_ORDER, bytes and empty??
