Migration of all versions of version management

Hello, is it possible to transport all versions of repository objects (active and inactive ones) from one system to another without getting problems?
Example:
System 1
Program 1
Version 28   active
Version 27 inactive
System 2
Program 1
Version 26  active
Version 25 inactive
Version 24 inactive
System 2 will not longer exist and so I want to have all versions from that system in system 1 (V28, V27, V26, V25, V24).
Not only the Link in table VRSD, also the additional stuff like coding for example.
Does anybody know how to do it?
Regards,
Tobias.

I would do the transfer #1... from another Mac and follow the instructions. You need a firewire 6-pin to 6-pin connector. Stay right where you are in Setup Assistant. If you restart your Mac before migrating it will create an admin account and the migration will be difficult.
EDIT: Time Machine won't recognize the new volume anyway and you should begin a fresh TM backup.
Have you gone into TM preferences and chosen other drives and folders not to back up?

  • What all is placed under version management?

If I check a JDeveloper project into SCM what all is placed under version management?
Is only the project placed under version management?
Is each of the project components placed under version management?
Are both the project and all the project components placed under version management?
    Thanks,
    Phil S.

    Hi Philip,
When you invoke Add... (or Check In, Check Out, Undo Checkout), a dialog will appear that confirms the files the operation will apply to.
For a project, usually, the operation will apply to the project itself (the .jpr file), and all the files in the project. You can exclude any files that you don't want to be added using the Remove button in the confirmation dialog.
    Thanks,

  • The "hanging/freezing/not responding" problem that existed in all versions of Firefox 3.6 persists in Firefox 4.0

Starting on April 14, 2011, I tried installing Firefox 4.0, which I downloaded from the Mozilla site. The first couple of times I tried to install it, it corrupted Firefox file places.sqlite. I know this because the install renamed the file to places.sqlite.corrupt. Luckily, I had recent backups. My previous installed versions were 3.5.18, which I had been using up to this time, and 3.6.16. I tried installing 4.0 with 3.6.16 installed, which I installed only for the sake of installing 4.0, and with no previous version installed and got the same bad results. I finally got a "successful" install on April 16, 2011, with no previous version installed.
Early on I discovered that Firefox 4.0 hangs (Firefox not responding) when left to idle for exactly 5 minutes (I timed it several times after immediately starting Firefox), pegging a constant 50% of the CPU when it hangs. I left it in a hanging state for up to half an hour, but nothing changed. This problem existed for all versions of Firefox 3.6, which is why I didn't install version 3.6.16 until I was ready to install version 4.0. I never kept any version of Firefox 3.6 installed for more than a couple of hours because of this problem. I need to be able to let Firefox stay idle for long periods of time -- certainly for more than 4 minutes and 59 seconds -- without having it hang, and I was able to do that with all versions of Firefox prior to version 3.6. It's incomprehensible that Firefox 4.0 has to always hang if it's inactive for more than 4 minutes and 59 seconds, and it's incomprehensible that this problem has been present and persistent since version 3.6 was introduced. To believe that 4 minutes and 59 seconds is sufficient idle time for a browser is absurd. This was never an issue with any version of Firefox prior to version 3.6, this was never an issue with Netscape, and it's not an issue with IE 8.
There are 2 other problems related to the hanging problem. If the browser and the bookmarks library are both open and the browser is closed normally, the bookmarks library remains open. After being left idle for exactly 5 minutes, the bookmarks library hangs, pegging a constant 50% of the CPU. If Firefox 4.0 is restarted before the 5 minute idle limit, it starts successfully. If an attempt is made to restart it after the 5 minute idle limit, it won't start. If the bookmarks library is left open for less than 5 minutes after the browser is closed, it can be closed successfully. In all versions of Firefox prior to version 3.6, the bookmarks library automatically closed when the browser was closed. The other related problem is that Firefox 4.0 occasionally pegs a constant 50% of the CPU without hanging even while it is being used and even if the only thing open is the home page, which in my case is google.com. Firefox can be used while this is happening, but it is worrisome and shouldn't be happening. Normally, Firefox 4.0 uses no CPU when it is left to idle within the 5 minute idle limit.
Firefox 4.0 has not crashed on its own yet, so I've had no crash reports to send to Mozilla, but because I've had to use the "End Now" button on the Microsoft unresponsive program window numerous times to terminate it when it hangs, numerous Microsoft Windows dump reports have been generated, all of which I've sent to Microsoft.
The last fully working version of Firefox I had was 3.5.18. Unfortunately, I don't have the installer for that version and Mozilla doesn't make it available anymore. Also, it looks like version 4.0 altered the places.sqlite file such that I might not be able to go back to version 3.5.18 even if I could. If I could reinstall version 3.5.18 and get it to work with the altered places.sqlite file, I would, but it is outdated and no longer supported by Mozilla, and I only want to use up-to-date and supported software.
The hanging problem is totally intolerable and unacceptable. If I can't get a version of Firefox 4.0 anytime soon that doesn't hang after being idle for just 5 minutes (why 5 minutes???) or for any limited amount of time, I'll have to install and use Google Chrome as a permanent replacement for Firefox. (If I do have to replace Firefox with Google Chrome, how can I get my Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail links to open in Google Chrome when I click on them?) Based on other user feedback regarding this problem dating back to the very first Firefox 3.6 version, Mozilla has had ample time to resolve it. I have found other problems with Firefox 4.0, but I'm not going to bother telling Mozilla about them because if the hanging problem isn't resolved soon, I'll have to stop using Firefox permanently. I can't and won't tolerate the hanging problem. I have been using Firefox exclusively for many years, but my disappointment with it has been growing since version 3.6 was introduced and my patience has run out.
I would appreciate Mozilla letting me know within a week of this posting if they can't or won't fix the Firefox 4.0 hanging problem. If I don't receive a substantive response to this problem within a week, I'm going to have to abandon Firefox permanently and switch to Google Chrome. I'm also going to leave a negative review of Firefox 4.0 on CNET to warn other potential users of the hanging problem.
I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition 32-bit SP3 on a Dell XPS 400 desktop computer. I have an Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80GHz, 3.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 RAM @ 265MHz, RADEON X300 SE 128MB HyperMemory, and 190GB of free space on my hard drive. I am using COMODO as my firewall and Avira AntiVir as my anti-virus software. I am also using WinPatrol and Secunia PSI. My ISP is AT&T. My download speed averages 2.5 Mbps, and my upload speed averages 0.65 Mbps. All of my software is up to date, thanks to Secunia PSI and CNET TechTracker, and my computer is free from infection.

Another aspect of the Firefox 4.0 "hanging/freezing/not responding" problem has emerged. I have found that on the common occurrence when Firefox 4.0 occasionally pegs a constant 50% of the CPU while idling within the 5 minute idle limit and I close it normally, it disappears from the Task Bar but continues to run and continues to peg a constant 50% of the CPU. I tried restarting Firefox 4.0 and got the following message: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." Before Firefox can be restarted, the existing Firefox process must be killed via the Task Manager or Process Explorer (I use the latter), after which a Microsoft Windows dump report is immediately generated. I always allow the dump to be sent to Microsoft.
The three big questions that have gone unanswered by Mozilla are 1) why did the hanging problem start with the very first release of Firefox 3.6, 2) why was the problem allowed to continue on up to and through Firefox 4.0, and 3) why hasn't Mozilla fixed the problem yet? And what is the significance of the 5 minute idle limit? Do Firefox 3.6 through 4.0 try to launch something when the browser and/or the bookmarks library have been idle for exactly 5 minutes? Maybe it's a problem with the number and/or type of plugins and extensions and/or the number of bookmarks. Maybe Firefox 3.6 through 4.0 work just fine if there are few to no plugins, extensions, and bookmarks, but that doesn't realistically accommodate users. Whatever the cause of the problem, Mozilla should have had a handle on it by now.
If anyone from Mozilla Support is reading this post, please let me know if it is possible to roll back Firefox 4.0 to Firefox 3.5.18. If it is possible, how do I do it, and where can I get the installer for Firefox 3.5.18? If I can reinstall it, I'll use it until Secunia Software Inspector informs me that it is insecure and no longer safe to use. At that point (maybe much sooner), I'll switch to Google Chrome exclusively because I don't want to use outdated software that is insecure and because I don't believe that Mozilla intends to fix the hanging problem and is willing to lose users over it. I certainly don't want to use software like Firefox 4.0 that has such an impactful problem. If I do have to abandon Firefox, how can I click on Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail links and get them to open in Google Chrome?

  • Issue in PO Version Management

We have recently configured release strategy for PO in SAP.
Now there is issue with Version management.
Consider X and Y are users responsible for Purchasing activities.
Scenario prior to Release Strategy Configuration:
If X has created PO and if it is transferred to Y for some changes, Y used to manually genrate version(Using + button on Version Tab in PO) and used to make changes in PO. i.e. X and Y both were able to genrate version.
    Scenario after Release Strategy Configuration:
If X has created PO and if it is transferred to Y for some changes, Y is not able to genrate version as + button on version tab is deactivated  but able to make changes in PO. i.e. X  is able to genrate version.
Client wants it as per earlier scenario. i.e. Both X and Y shud be able o generate version manually.
Is thare any authorization issue? or it got affetcted because of Release strategy cinfiguaration.....? How to resolve this?

    Hi
    New Versions of Purchasing Documents
The system always creates a new version when the purchasing document has reached a final state. This means one of the following processing states:
    Active
If you do not use the document release functionality
    Release completed
If you use the document release functionality
For a new version of a purchasing document to be created, all messages must have also been transmitted.
No new versions are generated for purchase orders that are on hold or not fully released.
    Hope it helps

  • Can JWS be used as a multiple Java version management tool?

WinNT4 WKS with JRE 1.3.1 - 1.4.2 loaded on it using IExplorer or Netscape.
We don't have a need for the JWS download features because our clients (and their applications) remain static for the most part. However, we do require multiple JRE version support because our customers have written class/objet "fixes" (mostly for text rendering) and these fixes break if you try and run the application on a different version of Java from which it was written. Basically, we can't have a default JRE on each machine and hope that it will work with all customer applications. So we will load all necessary Java components on our workstations (in this case JRE versions 1.3.1 - 1.4.2). I know that browsers can be forced to load with a specific Plug-in version (providing it exists on the machine) through Object & Embed tags in the HTML and that standalone apps can be directed to the correct Java directory path. My question is, can JWS automatically identify the Java requirements of our customers applications and act simply as a multi-version management tool to provide the right JRE/Plug-In for either standalone or browser applications? Keeping in mind that all the JREs will be loaded on the workstions and it won't need to download any components from some site.
I've noticed that JWS identifies all JREs loaded on a machine in the Java tab so I'm wondering if it can "switch" the environment as needed for each application.
Does anyone know if I can use JWS in the scenario I described above? Thanks!

JWS can manage the multiple JREs installed if you run the application through a .jnlp. This can not "switch" the default JRE. It runs the application specified in the .jnlp using the requested version specified in the .jnlp.
JWS does not apply to applets. You should use the object tags as you mentioned below.
...can JWS automatically identify the Java requirements of our customers applications
No. You must determine this and setup the .jnlp appropriately.

  • Saving user Interactive Reports in Production, when migrating a new version

    Hi All,
Interactive Reports allow individual users from creating their own custom reports.
If I were to migrate a modification to the Application, will these overwrite the user's Reports?
If it does, is there any way to save the user reports in Production, while we migrate an updated version of the application?
    Thanks.
    Kevin

    Hi,
This is a very commonly brought up issue. If you keep the same application ID from development to production and don't export the interactive reports from development then they will not be overwritten.
The original metadata will be used. There is an excellent blog post from Joel Kallman of Oracle on this topic which gives much more detail: http://joelkallman.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/where-did-my-saved-interactive-reports.html
I used the methods discussed in the post when I needed to solve this problem.
    Thanks

Also tell me the use of *Display of change documents in PO*.
It will display changes made both in item & header. It will help you to audit all changes made in p.o after it is raised.
In version management not all changes can be ameneded as seperate versions
only critical changes like price revision, quantity revision.

  • Purchase order version management

    Dear All.

    Data output category
Indicates the data output category to which the relevant field belongs.
    Use
You can assign a character to related fields. You can then use this
character to select the fields in the application.
        Note
SAP recommends you use only the folloiwng characters: a-z, A-Z, 0-9.
    Example
You wish to obtain a quick and straightforward overview of changes
involving the material, order quantity, and price. This information is
particularly important to you. You therefore assign the character A to
        these fields.
    Indicator: no output
Indicates whether the field is included in the display of changes.
    Use
If this indicator is selected, the corresponding field is not included
in the display of change documents.
    Example
You have selected the indicator for the Requester field. The content of
this field is then changed in the purchase requisition.
        Result
The changed field is not included among the changes that are displayed.
Indicator: No output in case of versions and buyer approval
Specifies whether or not the field is to be included in the display of
        changes for a version.
    Use
If this indicator is selected, the relevant field will not be included
in the display of changes that you can invoke via @II@ on the Versions
        tab page.

  • Version managment in purchase order's

    Hi,
I am working on version management. I have configured it in the system but i have problem which is as below:-
Suppose i create a PO the system gives it version 0.Now i do various other changes and say create 2 more versions say ver 1 and ver 2.Now if i want to take the print of the original PO i.e ver 0 it still gives the print as in ver 2 which has all the changes instead of the original PO.Can u please explain why this is happening and the solutions.
    regards,
    Akshay

    HI GUYS,
    here's the scene in detail.
I make a PO with 1 item and qty 10,now when i save this version 0 is created.
Now i make changes in the PO say change the qty from 10 to 20, now version 1 is created. Now if i have to to the print of version 0, the print contains the changes which were made in version 1 i.e qty 20 instead of actual 10.
Does this mean that once a version is created the print of older version can't be taken without the changes that were made in the new version??

  • PO version management - view history version

    Hi expert,
I'm using PO version management together with change PO output.
    1. Is there a way to pre-view or re-print a certain history version of the PO output? currently only the last version can be previewed and I got error message when I try to reprint hisotory version (no printed relevant changes).
    2. When I change the PO, a new version is not created until I save the PO. I have to come to the change mode again to mark it "complete". Is there a way to have the new version available before save, so I can make my changes and mark it completed right way.
    3. Is there a standard SAP report shows incompleted PO versions? I need to run it to remind me of the PO's that I still need to work on or to mark completed.
Thanks a lot for your kind help!
    Regards,
    Jully

    Hi Jully,
You can try the following link :
    http://www.sap-img.com/mm001.htm
It is an ABAP program contributed by one of the SAP members, which reports all the changes made in PO and list out the details per document.
Take the help of your ABAP consultant to run for you.
    See if it helps.
    Best regards

  • Version Management for SPRO

    Hi,
How do i check for the version of SPRo. A change has been made in the nodes. I want to check for the history of changes made to spro settings.
How do i go about it ?

    Hi,
No this is not my question .
I goto transaction SIMGH. Select my IMG structure and enter which displays all the nodes attached, Now a user has made changes and a few nodes are missing . Any changes in IMG will be done only to a transport requst.
I want to check what changes hve been made to the nodes.
e.g when we want to check changes for a ABAP prog. we goto the version management and check changes made and which transport request is it in.
can such a check be done for IMG changes . This is my question. Hope i am clearer this time .

  • Version management for PO

    Hi,
If I create a PO & save, then i will add a freight condition in PO, will it be activated in version managment.
Also can we configure the fields which we want for triggering the Vesrion management.
    Pleae suggest.
    Thanks
    SHP

    Hi,
    [Version Management| http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/8a/60b43bb7492147e10000000a114084/content.htm]
In the case of procurement transactions extending over a longer period of time (for example, in the procurement of capital goods), you may need to differentiate between various versions of the purchasing document. You may also need to refer to one particular version when corresponding with the vendor.
The Version Management facility enables you to generate and manage versions of purchase requisitions and external purchasing documents such as POs. A version groups together the change documents generated in the course of subsequent processing of the relevant document. A version thus indicates the revision level of a document (version 0 = original document, versions 1 + = revisions) and provides the user with an overview of the various changes that may have been made in the course of time.
Version Management thus represents an extension to the hitherto existing change documentation functionality for internal and external purchasing documents.
Version Management can be used in connection with purchase requisitions (ME51N, ME52N and ME53N only), RFQs, purchase orders, contracts, and scheduling agreements.
The following prerequisites must be satisfied before a version of a purchasing document can be deleted:
The changes made in the version must have been reversed (cancelled, revoked)
All open messages must have been deleted
    CONFIGURATION:
    1) Go to SPRO-MM-Purchasing-Version Mgmt-Setup Version Mgmt for External Documents
Activate Version Mgmt against your Doc type and Double click on that Doc type NB then in next screen in Control data tab mark all the fields and in Field Selection set all the Fields as Required entry Except Posting Date and save.
    2) go to SPRO-MM-Purchasing-Version Mgmt-Define Reasons for change
Create one New Reason Called Xyz something and give text and save.
    3) Go to SPRO-MM-Purchasing-Version Mgmt-Set up change Displays
Here Select Doc type say NB and Give Table name say EKPO for PO and EBAN for PR, Give Field name say MENGE for qty and save.

  • Version management for DMS

    Dear all;
I have attached one document say Drawing  with REV 0 in DIR ,Now I want to replace the Old drawing with latest revision say REV R1 at  same time I dont want to replace the old REV 0 .How to solve this problem with version management In DMS in application as well as in SPRO.
    Thanking You;
    Regards;
    Joydeep Mukherjee

    Hi Joydeep,
Trust you are looking at versioning of the originals/documents in a DIR.If yes, then 'content version' feature must be enabled in DC 30 transaction.Path is SPRO > CA components > DMS > General Data > Define Workstation Application. Herein, select the required workstation application and check the 'content version' field.
To test, check out a original/document in a DIR and check in with changes as a new version. You will have the previous as well as the current version original/document available.

  • Version Management for PO(Set up Change Displays)

    Hi All,
We have Version Mgt. functionality for POs.
Pls tell me what is the use of 'Category' field in 'Set up Change Displays' in Version Management.
The path is IMG>MM>Purchasing>Version Mgt.>Set up Change Displays
Appreciate if you do not provide the explanation which comes by pressing F1. Jst let know how we use this field in this functionality and how.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Dear ,
The sole purpose of the field Category i.e Data output category is reporting ,Which means when you check the report of Display Changes for a version in PO it will show you all the fields (as per SAP all fields are of same importance ) but if you want to impose importance to those fields according to your need then you assign a category and later you can sort the list based on this category
Now how it works lets take an example
Suppose you create a PO take print out and then changed few data in PO so new version triggers -> Mark this version as completed and saved the PO
Now after that your boss or any one want to see what changes you have made for that PO so he select version 1 in header and click on Display changes
    Field........................................old value.......New value.......Changed by......Changed On....Category
    1> Price ................................100 EUR.......120 EUR...........user1234..........18.02.12................A
    2> Quantity .............................60 EA.............65 EA...........user1234..........18.02.12................A
    3> Material short text ............Iron ore-1....Iron ore-2..........user1234..........18.02.12................B
    4>  Requisitioner ....................User4.......... User 5.............user1234..........18.02.12................B
    5> Req. tracking no...............need543.......need579...........user1234..........18.02.12................C
    6>   Taxcode  ...........................V1..................V2...............user1234..........18.02.12................C
    {If in the standard output format category field is missing you can bring that by changing the layout }
Now out of these 6 field you assigned Price and Quantity as category  A (say most important)
Material short text and Requisitioner as category B (Medium importance)
Req. tracking no.  and   Tax code as category C      ( Less importance)
So it just an additional information for you to categorized and easily identify important fields among many other changed fields.
Now I sincerely hope it clarifies you doubt
