What all is placed under version management?

If I check a JDeveloper project into SCM what all is placed under version management?
Is only the project placed under version management?
Is each of the project components placed under version management?
Are both the project and all the project components placed under version management?

Hi Philip,
When you invoke Add... (or Check In, Check Out, Undo Checkout), a dialog will appear that confirms the files the operation will apply to.
For a project, usually, the operation will apply to the project itself (the .jpr file), and all the files in the project. You can exclude any files that you don't want to be added using the Remove button in the confirmation dialog.

Placing ~ under version control : ignore mask

Hi.
I am thinking of placing my home directory under version control.
I understand there are threads in Arch and URLs on placing home under version control.
But i find placing everything in ~ will be a waste of space since files such as
web browser cache or icons changes constantly.
I would like to know what does my fellow Archers ~ .ignore files contains?
Any DVCS .ignore files are welcome.

I'm running my ~ in svn for already a while now, originally based on the ideas of the above article and some others.

When I used gnome this list was MUCH longer. I am still in the process of getting rid of apps that misbehave badly (biggest offenders are gnome, gnome-do, tomboy, pidgin and for firefox and thunderbird I would even make a separate category: those directories are just filled with many (binary) files, impossible to manage. I use separate rsync "repositories" for those)

You can build up a similar list like this:
svn create a-place-for-your-home-in-svn
svn checkout a-place-for-your-home-in-svn ~
then do svn status ~, and you'll see lots of stuff. then go over everything and decide if you want it in svn or not. by adding it (non-recursively) or updating your ignore rules. that's how I am still building up my list.. all because of those damn programs who don't implement xdg cleanly

Version management for Purchase order

Dear Friends,
I am implimenting version management for Purchase orders.
Under version management(IMG) ,set up change dispalys node--
following fields are available.
Ex:
Doc type-- ZCO,NB
For item view fields:
Field nameEMATN(material),TableMEPO1211--material field in Item over view
Field nameMENGE(Quantity),TableMEPO1211
For Header level fields:
Field nameZTERM(payment terms field),,TableMEPO1226
Category--A or B for selection of change documents
No out put--if i tick it concern field will not included in change doc
Version--what is the purpose
Please suggest me
1) we need enter the all the field names in the item over view and item details and Header level fields as given above ,is it correct.
2) And with regard to Table, do i enter for Header level fields-EKKO or MEPO1226 which is available in F1 under techinical information,
for item level fields,shall i enter table name-EKPO or MEPO1211as dispalyed in the F1 under techinical information.
3) I need to enter all the fields existing in the purchase order
4) All these fields and data is to be entered for every document type NB and ZCO.
5) After changes are made in Purchase order,first time on saving the PO,version is creating automatically,
second time,if we do changes, version is not creating on saving the purchase order,what configuration needs to be done.
Please suggest.

Also tell me the use of *Display of change documents in PO*.
It will display changes made both in item & header.It will help you to audit all changes made in p.o after it is raised.
In version management not all changes can be ameneded as seperate versions
only critical changes like price revision,quantity revision.

NO Version Management in SAP BPC-is it in SAP BPC7.0 NW AND/OR SAP BPC70 MS

As far as I know SAP BPC doest not have versions management. How you guys out there handle version management for SAP BPC. Do we have VM on SAP BPC 7.0 NW?

What is the verdict on Version Management being there in BPC? Can you (Saquib or others) give an example as to what Version Management functionality you might be looking for?
From the little I know, when you are doing software development through lifecycle (in SAP it would be called Transport strategy) management, you promote different changes in the target system and hence SAP has an implicit version management. I am assuming that BPC 7.0 NW version would have that automatically since it is promoted through transport strategy only. Are you referring to the same thing as version management or is it something else? But I also read somewhere that only appset is promoted through transport and not sure if each and every component is part of that.
Please enlighten with your insighs.

EPM single Managed Server for all applicatoins vs EPM multiple managed servers

There are two options of setting my managed serves in weblogic
1 - All application comes under single managed server.
2 - Every application have it's own managed server.
(Please correct me if there are other ways to other than this.)
What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

Actually the purpose of these purely lies in your usage and env capacity ..
Suppose I have a test env where in I frequently suppose to restart the services , then I will better go for single managed option as I would not like wasting my time in stopping and starting of services .
Note this will have high RAM burden as you would be starting all the service even if you don't need that .
If you are constantly bringing services up and down you want the control of being able to choose what you are restarting. Lets say in your Test environment you want to change the deployment settings of JVM, change the Planning properties, change Essbase Server settings, you hose FDMEE and need to restart.... this list can easily go on ... you want to be able to restart the individual component rather than everything. You cannot accurately test patches in Test, because they don't simulate Prod - so you have to bank on having another pre-prod environment to do all of this in. You cannot tune accurately, because you have no control over the individual web apps.
As Dattatray said " 2. as there is only one window service, RAM and processor consumption will be less"
as JohnGoodwin said "I am not a fan of the single managed server unless it is for low resourced machine, e.g. laptop or POC, it is more trouble than it is worth."
The RAM usage is going to be lower, not higher.

Version Management on PR with Release Strategy

We are using Release Strategies on PR, along them Version Management activation is also required. All configuration have been done, Versions are automatically triggering in PR's without release, however in PR with release new version is not reflecting, every change is going in Version 0.
Suggestion is required...

The system always creates a new version when the purchase requisition reaches a final processing state. These are the following processing states:
Active, if no release is used
Release completed, if the release is used
Only the following changes to a purchase requisition lead to a new version:
All version-relevant changes (defined in purchasing Customizing under -> Version Management -> Version-Relevant Fields of Purchase Requisition)

as per as i know all the changes made in the purchasing document can be tracked through display document> environment> item/header changes.
So whats the advantage of implementing Version Management?
Is it capture some changes which is not captured environment--> item/header changes.?

I want to group all the employees under one manager and list their names in the same row. IS that possible. When i tried the query below,
select mgr, count(*) employees from emp where mgr is not null group by mgr, ename;
I got the result as

Additionally, would I be able to display the names of the employees under one manager in a row? or atleast in some other way? Pls share your ideas.

Activate Version Management in Purchase Order

Dear All Expert,
Current Condition, Version Management will be activated once the PO has been full released (using t-code ME29N) and then printed (using t-code ME9F).
Problem:
Condition in our client that they only need particular document that will be printed, so not all PO will be printed.
Based on this condition our client tends to activate Version Management once PO is approved/released (using t-code ME29N) without need to be printed.
Hope anyone could help me to solve this problem.

But my doubt is one PO have more 5 amentment happen.
Each time the version number generate or Not .
My case when i change net value five time ,but the value only change in version tab. but version number not generated next 4 times changes(only first time from 0 to 1 created after that no number generated)
My client want every time i change in PO ,version number system will give.
Apart from that my release strategy have not triggering .due to my value going to upper .
Pls give me lights on this topic

1. Goto SPRO>MM>Purchasing>Version Mgmt>Setup Ver mgmt for ext Purch Docs
2. Select your Pur.Org & Double Click
3.In Field Selection Tab, there will be fields for Reason, Short Text, Requester, External No & Posting Date
4.In External Number field change the entry from Required entry to Optional entry
Save the settings.Now you woudn't get that error

What happened to all of the options under Site Manager?

There used to be tons of options under Site Manager:
Pages
Page Templates
Module Templates
Content Holders Menus
Web Forms
File Manager
Etc.
Now I only have two:
Web Forms
System Emails
What happened to all of the extra options, and how do I access them now? Seems like it only happened since the BC updates.
I have an Ecommerce BC Plan, so I should have everything.

Turns out it was something simple. I created a ticket, and got the answer back. I clicked on "my details" under my name in the top right. I then checked and enabled "content editing". Somehow it must have gotten disabled because I was using Muse.

hi prakesh,
firstly, cic winclient is an older version and obsolete so its better to implement the new crm version.
secondly, in any case if you want to implement, then your 3rd party raw data has to be mapped with the SAP system which could be a problem. Middleware could be a lot of effort. Rest all depends on how much customization you need for your business requirement in cic and sales. In case you are implementing standard functionality mostly then no major complications are expected otherwise lot of development effort may be required.

I have three iPhone 4 models purchased in late 2010 (for my family) that all share the same iTunes account for access to apps and music, but each phone/user still has his/her custom contact list, email accts, and select lists of apps and music from the one iTunes acct library. The problem is I can only update the software on one of the three iPhones – the primary phone I used to setup the iTunes acct. What is the best solution to manage these devices for software updates, apps? This is probably a common problem with families wanting to share apps and music without realizing the issues created by this approach. As it stands today... the first (primary) iPhone associated with the iTune acct has been updated with the latest software version 5.1.1 and sync'd up with all the apps, music, etc from the one iTune acct, while the other two iPhones are still running on the original software version 4.0.2 and are experiencing problems now. I was advised by AT&T back in January that it would be necessary to setup separate iTunes accts for the second and third iPhones in order to receive system updates. The problem would be how to keep all the apps, etc from being deleted off the second and third phones that were originally loaded from the one iTunes acct. Since this AT&T advice was prior to iCloud coming out, would iCloud be a better solution or at least part of the solution? I really don't yet understand how iCloud works. Hopefully, someone out there can help me?? Please?
