Migration of BO 6.5.1 reports to BO XI

Currently running BO 6.5.1. Will be upgrading to BO XI at some point. The only issue I have at the moment is the migration of the existing reports. Some reports are stored in the corporate repository which is viewable from the BO Supervisor module but the majority of the reports (supposedly 100's of them) are either stored on Shared drives on servers or on personal drives allocated to each user.
Users tend to save their reports on a shared drive on a server that is accessible by other users in their own dept and also create their own reports and save on their designated personal drive.
Is it correct that the only way to migrate the reports on the shared drives and personal drives is to consolidate and publish them all into the BO 6.5.1 repository and then migrate to XI or can the reports remain as they are on the drives.
Once the migration to XI has taken place, version 6.5.1 will run in parallel although maybe only for 3 months before this is switched off. The existing 6.5.1 universes will be migrated to XI and any new universes that are downloaded will sit on top of this on the new version.
What options are available in terms of the report migration as any help would be much appreciated?

Hello dipen143,
I recommend to post this query to the [BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration|BI Platform; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to administration and configuration of BusinessObjects Enterprise, BusinessObjects Edge, and Crystal Reports Server.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all BOE Administration queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
Best regards,
Falk

There is a good 6.x to XI migration guide in http://help.sap.com
And the answer is  - yes , you need to publish those reports to Repository before migration, otherwise XI won't know they are exist.
You can open them and save to XI repository manualy using XI client tools later, but you won;t be able to use XI tools and 6.5 tools on same reports.
Also, if you migrate universes your reports are using - 6.4 reports will no longer work, once you shutdown your 6.5 environment. You'll need to bring them over.

  • Migrating from 11i to R12 - setup reports and diagnostics

    Hi,
we are looking at migrating(not upgrading) from 11i to R12 and looking for setup scripts and diagnostics which can tell what org structure has been followed in 11i. Is anybody aware of such scripts and/or diagnostic programs provided by Oracle. We also want to find out the the volume of data etc in various primary tables. Do we have some kind of report for this too ? Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • How to migrate SAP Bex Query to BO report

    Hi All,
I want to migrate some of the reports from Bex Query to SAP BO.
Will you suggest me what are the best ways to do this,Whether there are any tools to do this??
    Regards,
    Shiva Kumar G.C

    Hi,
When you say migrate do you mean to use BOBJ for reporting?
If your answer is yes then other questions come into picture.
What type of reports you have in SAP- Adhoc, WAD, Formatted etc?
BusinessObjects is combination of some tools.
WebI is a web base tool and mostly used for Adhoc. You will have to create a Universe on the top of your Bex Query and then WebI Document (WebI Report)
Crystal Reports is used for formatted reporting. You will create connection on the base of your requirement. You can create a Universe or make a direct connection with your InfoProvider and then create your reports. Use MDX functionality to create Reports.
Crystal Xcelsius is used for dash board reporting.
And if your answer is no to above question and you want to migrate your reports to BOBJ like and upgrade without recreating the reports then it is not possible.

  • How to migrate my oracle forms 9i and reports application..

    Hi,
we have this budgeting application developed in oracle forms 9i,reports integrated in oracle portal. Now we have to move this application from oracle 9i to oracle 10g and have to integrate it with new portal again.
Can anybody pls help me how do I migrate this application to oracle 10g AS and integrate it with portal so exact replica which was on oracle 9i portal is there on my new oracle 10g integrated within the portal.

Are you currently deployed on the web or as c/s. Generally speaking for upgrading Forms its a case of open in the builder, regenerate and run. For c/s to web there may be some extra steps to do but generally speaking most Forms will run out of the box.
    CHeck out otn.oracle.com/formsupgrade
There is also a batch option to help you and there are of course Oracle partners who can help as well.

  • Migration of apex 3.2 Interactive Reports tpo 4.0

I am currently involved with the update of APEX 3.1 to 4.0. Is it possible to have the user-saved IRs in 3.1 migrated to APEX 4.0? My understanding is that the users will lose their reports once the migration takes place.
    Thanks,
    Ajay

    Hi Ajay,
If you are upgrading then there shouldn't be any problems.
Only issue raised was when moving the app from one instance to another instance with different application ID's.

  • SCCM 2012 - Migrating SQL components to cluster including Reporting Services

    Current SCCM 2012 environment:
     - CAS with database on remote SQL (non-cluster) server in a named instance - SQLSRV\CASINST
     - SQL Reporting Services in also installed in the SQLSRV\CASINST instance
     - The SCCM Reporting Services Point role is installed on the SQLSRV\CASINST instance
     - Primary server with database on the same remote SQL (non-cluster) server in a different named instance - SQLSRV\PRIINST
Now I would like to move all of the database stuff to an existing SQL 2008 R2 cluster (SQLCLUSTER) and decommission the SQLSRV server.  SQLCLUSTER already exists and the default instance is already in use (for other applications) for both database engine
    services and reporting services.
    From my understanding:
     - SQL 2008 R2 Reporting Services cannot be clustered
     - Best practise is to install Reporting Services Point on a remote site server rather than a CAS server
     - SSRS can be installed on nodes in SQL cluster as standalone installs - with the caviat that they don't use instance names already in use
    So I plan to:
     - Move CAS database to new named instance on cluster eg SQLCLUSTER\CASINST
     - Move primary database to new named instance on cluster eg SQLCLUSTER\PRIINST
     -  Install SQL Reporting Services on one of the cluster nodes (unclustered) using a named SSRS instance eg SQLCLUSTERNODE1\SCCMREPORTING
    -  This article points out some interesting results of not have a default instance -  http://magalhaesv.wordpress.com/2012/05/24/system-center-configuration-manager-x-sql-server-reporting-services-x-wmi-english-version/
     - Move Reporting Services Point from SQLSRV\CASINST to the cluster node eg SQLCLUSTERNODE1\SCCMREPORTING
I have read on some forums (eg
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlsetupandupgrade/thread/40ad0cb4-a464-4576-b824-957ed6e1b2e2) things like '' If you have an app like SCCM that requires a default instance of SSRS, you are out of luck if your cluster already has a default
instance of the database engine.", but I cannot find this anywhere in Microsoft documentation.  From the MS documentation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/7fd0d4f5-14e0-4ec7-b2e6-3b67487df555#BKMK_InstallReportingServicesPoint)
I understand that as long the current user has read access to WMI on the remote site server where SQL Reporting Services is installed, you should be able to use a named instance for SQL Reporting Services and successfully install the Reporting Services Point
    on it.
    So a 2 part question:
     - Anybody see any obvious flaws in my high level plan?
     - Anybody care to comment on the SCCM requiring a default instance of SSRS?

Yes, I know this is an old post, I’m trying to clean them up, Did you figure this out, if so how?
    http://www.enhansoft.com/
    Hi Garth,
Yes we moved the DBs and RS as outlined above. As expected, we needed to have a default instance of RS because otherwise the SCCM console doesn't see the Reporting Services instance when you try to deploy the Reporting Services site role.
    So the above plan worked.

  • Oracle reports 6i to Oracle forms 10g migration

    Hi,
I have .rdf files which were created on Oracle Reports 6i. I would like to migrate the .rdf files into Oracle Reports module which is present as a part of Oracle Forms 10g to generate PDF output.
Please let me know the detailed steps to be followed as I am a total newbie. Also I need to generate these reports on demand from a java 5 application (JSF 2.0).
Currently for ORacle reports 6i, I have the following code in my java application
    rwrun60.exe g:\tomcat33\webapps\reports\web-inf\src\null userid=***/*** destype=FILE desformat="pdf" paramform=NO printjob=NO batch=YES desname=temp.pdf
    1. What would be the equivalent for reports in ORacle Forms 10g ? I know there is an Oracle Apps server where ther report services reside. How to I invoke my report from my java application (residing on a weblogic server 10.3.6)?
    2. What ould I do with the 6i .rdf files to upgrade them to 10g ?

I am trying to call an Oracle report i.e .rdf (which is located on the Oracle  App Server) from my java EE 5 (JSF) application. The Oracle  App server is Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2. I assume Oracle report generation capability is available in this release.  I need to invoke the report from my Java JSF application on demand (whenever the user clicks a button on the web browser page, the report should appear on the browser as PDF) . My java application resides on Linux weblogic server.
Please let me know how it can be done ? I see rwclient.sh and another method to directly invoke using a URL. How do I do it on java, would a request.redirect() to the URL work ?
Also for hiding the params in the URL. keys need to be configured on the Oracle server right ?
Also if we use rwclient.sh or the URL based invocation, would there be any issue in concurrency when multiple users request the same report at the same time ?

  • Report height problem from 6i to 10g migration

    Hi,
We have a 6i report and now try to migrate to 10g. When the report is printed, the report is shinked and printed in half upper part of page because of the height of main section we defined is 22" instead of 11". We don't have problem in 6i environment.
The reason is we have two different layouts and each occupies 11". Only one of this will be printed at one time but we don't want to create two report for this.
is there any way to solve this problem in 10g?
    Thanks in advance

  • 4.5 to 6i migration or report calling from forms in XE???

    Hi Friends,
I really appreciate your helping tendency. Let me explain the whole scenario.
    My application basically consists of
Forms [32 Bit] Version 5.0.6.8.0 (Production)
    Report Builder 3.0.5.8.0
Oracle Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
Now we migrated our database into Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production. After the migration all the existing forms and report individually were running without any problem. But there was a huge problem. Whenever I tried to call any report from any form the report engine appeared and then stopped responding. So report calling from forms was not possible after the database migration. I was suggested by someone from OTN forum to migrate my forms and reports into 6i. I have started doing the migration using ifcmp60. WIth forms 6i, reports can be called from forms. But I am facing problem in every other steps. There are many things are not working after the migration though the migration log shows no error. For example, COMMIT_FORM, EXECUTE_QUERY (for detail table), LOV, TOOL.GETVAR lots of things are not working.
My application has 200 forms and 250 reports.
    Please help and advise on:
How to call reports from form when the database is XE Or
How to overcome the stated migration problem
    Rgds,
    Luther

    Dear Mark:
I have two choices. I can either migrate to 6i or I can go with the existing 4.5. If I go with 4.5 ......the reports are not being called from forms. This problem is happening after I changed the database from 9i to XE. Please advise what to do so that I can keep my forms in 4.5, database in XE and can call reports from forms.
    Rgds,

  • 10g Migration Problem: error shown when trying to call a report from form

    Dear Friends,
I am working on migrating developer 2000 forms to 10g forms. I am using migration tool for this. Everything is going fine except calling report from a form.
Say, in the original form I had the following:
    RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS,’ C:\test1.rdf’,SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,pi_id,NULL);
    After migration its has become:
    rp2rro.rp2rro_run_product(REPORTS, ’ C:\test1.rdf’,SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,pi_id,NULL);
Then, I have kept the report ‘test1.rdf’ in the ‘OraHomeAS\reports\samples\demo\’ location and changed the above code into:
    rp2rro.rp2rro_run_product(REPORTS,'test1.rdf',SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,pi_id,NULL);
Now the form runs fine on application server but it can’t call the report. While attempting to call the report, it shows the following error:
    ORA-06508
    FRM-40735
Please note that the report ‘test1.rdf’ individually runs fine on the application server and at the time of migration I provided all the information (e.g. report server name) correctly. If I am missing any package, please tell which package I am missing and where should I paste it.
Please help me because I am very close to the deadline!
    Rgds,
    Luther

    Hi,
The conversion to use the rp2rrp call needs a library to resolve the call which I think is called rp2rro.pll.
It seems that this library is not being found at run time, which is what the ora-06508 error often means.
I guess that you have compiled the form and must therefore have the pll to compile, so it is the forms_path setting in the app server run time that might not be set.
Look at the environment file (default.env is the original name for this, if you haven't created a custom one) for the entry FORMS_PATH. Is the location of your library specified in the path ?? If not put the directory in, then stop and restart the app server.

  • SSRS Reports migration from 2005 to 2008R2

    Hi ..
I have couple of questions.. looking for answers
Am new to report migration. We have 1000+ of reports in 2005 which we need to migrate to 2008R2. After googling theweb i got to know that we have an third party utility RSScripter which is used to move the reports from 2005 to 2008.
    Question 1:
By using the above tool i was able to migrate the reports from 2005 to 2008. However, i am not able to redeploy the reports to sub folder in 2008..
Example  i have some reports in 2005 at Dev_reports\Reports\.. when i want to copy these reports to Dev_reports\Reports folder they are not moved to sub folder Reports on destination server, but rather they are copied to root folder. Is there any why
that i can copy the reports to particular folder in destination server.
    Question 2:
When moved the reports from 2005 to 2008 are all the reports are automatically upgraded and copied to new server(2008)? or we need to explicitly open each and every report in 2008 and deploy to the new report server(2008)?
And my third requirement is to create couple(2) solution for the above said reports and check in them to TFS as a reporting project.
one report project with all the reports from 2005 and another with all reports from 2008.
Appreciate your responses at the earliest. As this is on top priority.. Thanks in Advance
    Sri

    Hi Sri,
Per my understanding that you are using the RSScripter to move the reports from SSRS 2005 from SSRS 2008 R2, now your first problem is you don't know how to move the reports from the sub folder of 2005 to an specify folder on SSRS 2008 R2, right?
I have tested on my locak enviroment and can reproduce the issue, by default, when you execute the .cmd file the report will move to the new server's root folder, for example, you have an rdl report in SSRS 2005 which path is "/Test/report1.rdl"
, when you move to the SSRS 2008 R2 using the tool it will move to the path "home/Test/report1.rdl".
If you want to move this rdl to the specify folder "home/Test0323/Test/Report1.rdl" you should do the action as below:
Create the specify folder on the SSRS 2005 but not SSRS 2008 R2, move the subfolder and the rdl in it "/Test/report1.rdl" to the specify folder
find and check the "/Test0323/Test/Report1.rdl" in the RSScripter:
the Output will have the path like "Test0323/Test/Report1.rdl",after move to the SSRS 2008 R2, it will also create the path like "/Test0323/Test/Report1.rdl"
More details information about using the RSScripter tool:
Migrating SQL Reporting Services to a new server
For the second question, Generally, reports are not upgraded when you upload a report definition file directly to the report server or SharePoint site. The report is automatically upgraded the first time it is viewed, but the stored report definition file
remains unchanged. Upgrading a report definition in SQL Server Data Tools is the only way to upgrade the .rdl file.

  • Migration from Crystal Reports 2008 to Crystal reports Enterprise(BOE 4.0)

    Dear all ,
I m currently doing a project on Crystal reports 2008 where datasource is mostly SAP BW queries.  Our customer will have BOE 4.0 in coming months .  I have heard that in BOE 4.0 Crystal reports for Enterprise will be a better option for BW datasources. Is that true? So here comes my question , Is  it possible to migrate reports based on Crsytal reports 2008 to Crystal reports for Enterpise 4.0  afterwards. What will be best option for us , shall we build further reports on Crystal reports 2008 or Crystal reports 2011 or should wait until we have BOE 4.0 ?
    Thanks
    Best regards
    Atul

    Hi,
We are going through the migration process from 2008 to Enterprise version. The only issue we are facing is the mapping of the Hierarchy nodeid and parentid. Other than that we were able to migrate most of the pieces from the report.
Here is the overview of migration process:
    1. When you run the upgrade manager to migrate objects from BOE 3.1 to 4.0 it will automatically upgrade it to CR 2011 version.
    2. You then have option to migrate it manually by opening the report in Enterprise version.
    3. If you open the report in Enterprise version it will prompt you to connect to common semantic layer wizard.
    4. Before that you have to have your datasource ready for that report depends on how your CR 2008 is connected. (can be BEx query or Relational Universe)
    5. If its BEx query you have to maintain the connection in CMC under OLAP connection to your BW system.
    6. Next thing is to map the Source fields to Target fields (BEx query or Relation Universe via IDT) and your report will be converted to Enterprise version.
    7. You might have to resolve if there are any errors.
Let me know if you have any particular questions if i can help.
    Thanks.

  • Migration of Crystal Reports Server XI to new network server

We are running CR Server XI on an older network server that is becoming unstable.   We would like to migrate CR Server and all its reports to a newer network server.
Given that there are around 200 reports published and being run from its current location, is there any way to easily move the program and reports?    Any easy way to mass-change the ODBC database server info which is present in all these reports?

I wrote this a couple years ago and you may want to open a message with the deployment team to verify or get updated steps.
But this used to work fine when the version/patchwere the same in source/destination and was much faster then the import wizard.
you can migrate the CMS database from the CCM by selecting the copy from data source.
    **CMS Source**
    1) Prior to copying the CMS database it's easiest to simply disable auditing on the source CMS database to avoid errors on the destination.
    **CMS Destination**
    2) Create a CMS database or instance for the destination
    3) Stop the CMS and all other services (page, cache, etc)
    4) Double click on the CMS
    5) Select the configuration tab
    6) Choose copy from datasource
    7) Click specify on the CMS Data source
    8) Select source CMS database (make sure middle ware i.e. ODBC connection is installed)
    9) Select destination CMS database
    **CMS Source**
    10) Stop CMS and all other services (page, cache, etc)
    **CMS Destination**
    11) Start the CMS
    12) Login to CMC select servers, delete all servers associated with the source CMS if they exist
    13) Stop CMS on the destination server
    14) Double click CMS on the destination server
    15) Select the configuration tab
    16) Select the change CMS cluster name to (and choose your server or cluster)
    17) Run regedit
    18) Go to HKEYLocalMachine\Software\Businessobjects\suite 11.5\Enterprise\CMSClustermembers
    19) Ensure that only the proper members are defined (i.e. your computer name only or your cluster members only). Remove anything that was added from the source system
    **CMS Source**
    20) Restart the CMS and all other services (page, cache, etc)
    21) Login to CMC select servers, delete all servers associated with the destination CMS if they exist
    22) Go to HKEYLocalMachine\Software\Businessobjects\suite 11.5\Enterprise\CMSClustermembers
    23) Ensure that only the proper members are defined (i.e. your computer name only or your cluster members only). Remove anything that was added from the destination system
    **CMS Destination**
    24) Delete any directories in the businessobjects\businessobjects 115\filestore
    25) Copy your FRS from the source businessobjects\businessobjects 115\filestore to businessobjects\businessobjects 115\filestore on the destination
    26) Restart CMS - Done
NOTE: If XI replace 115 with 11. IF CE10 replace business objects with crystal enterprise and 115 with 10
