Migration of reports developed in 2.5(RDF) to 9i DS

Hi,
1)We have reports developed in reports 2.5(Rdf.I want to migrate the reports to 9i as web layout.What are the steps to be followed for teh same.
2)Kindly give me the URL for the documentation available on the migration process.
Thanks

Hi All,
Whilst doing the migration (and god knows how long this will take) I need to document the log file of all functions and changes made. The manual states that there is a PLG file created however, I can't seem to find it. I'm running the conversion one by one and not in batch mode. Can someone help me locating the PLG log file.
Thanks

  • Issue in BI Publisher when migrating oracle report RDF to BI Publisher

    Hi, I am migrating Oracle RDF report to BI Publisher while migrating this report I am facing problem in viewing data as per my report requirement
    I want my department Name should be my HEADER and all projects of department should display under it.
    for that according to me I should get XML data like this
    <dept1>
    <project1></project1>
    <project2></project2>
    <project3></project3>
    </dept1>
    for some nodes I am getting this expected result but for many node it is giving me result like
    <dept2>
    <project1></project1>
    </dept2>
    <dept2>
    <project2></project2>
    </dept2>
    because of this i could not able to see data in required format for some department.
    may be Order by is not working in Q_Expenditure

  • Report developed in 6i and open and run in 10g, Web Layout is not working

    Hi,
    Initially reports were developed in Reports 6i now we need to convert into 10g. I just opened the .rdf in Reports10g. Report is successfully running in paper layout and showing the data. • Migration from reports 6i to 11g

    Hi Guys,
    I am very new to report development and needed some help on migrating reports 6i to reports 11g. I did some reading up and only found the the document Upgrading Oracle Forms 6i to Oracle Forms 11g 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) E10394-01 which talk about forms migration. I am looking for a reports migration and found no good documentation on it. Could somebody direct me to some good documentation. Also a few more questions i had in mind
    1) Can I migrate to 11g directly or should i migrate to 10g first.
    2) Can I use the migation assitant for reports migration or is it only for the forms.
    3) If i need to recompile the reports in 11g is there a a 11g developer suite that i should use for it.
    Thanks and regards

    We will be starting a process of converting our forms/reports 6i to 11Gr2. I just installed weblogic/forms 11Gr2 and i'm trying out reports. They do compile easely and run in "paper layout" but do not work in "web layout"..404 error in web browser. We have maybe 100reports in our systems to convert. If I create a new 11G report from scratch and define it has being "web and paper layout" everything works like a charm. I compiled in reports 11G and use the report converter with same results.
    I heard many times that reports RDF in 6i will look the same in 11G...in paper layout they do...but that does not get your reports on the web.
    Is there some way to auto convert all reports so that the web layout is added...or we will need to convert all of them?
    thanks for nay help you can give me guys...

  • Layout issue while trying Migrate Oracle Report to XML publisher Reports

    Hi
    I am trying to Convert Seeded Oracle Reports (rdf) to BI Publisher reports, in doing so encounter layout issues. The layout of the RTF , PDF or HTML generated by BI Publisher is different form the text, PDF or HTML outputs generated by the concurrent report. The problem with the BI Publisher template and out put
    Is, the lay out is getting distorted .
    Steps to archive the migration :
    -     download the rdf from the server to local m/c.
    -     execute Forms 9i Util rwconverter to generate a xml
    -     use the oracle.apps.xdo.rdfparser.RTFTemplateGenerator API to generate a RTF template of the report layout
    -     Then use this template to generate a XSL via oracle.apps.xdo.template.RTFProcessor API
    -     The Apply the XSL on the XML data output of the report using oracle.apps.xdo.template.FOProcessor to generate RTF , PDF & HTML files.
    Name of the Report used for migration “FSG - Report Detail Listing” , responsibility GL super User. This was just a random report we picked-up for trial.
    The layout of these files seems to distorted than the layout of the original report output as generated by the rdf report.
    Pls suggest some means to resolve this or any pointers towards what causing this could be of help.
    -     Shudipto

    The process of "converting" an old Oracle Reports rdf into a BIP report is more akin to writing a brand new report in BIP than to what most people would consider a true conversion.
    The conversion routine outlined by Oracle just gives you a starting point for converting RDF layouts into BIP, and nothing more. In regards to the data define it does somewhat better generating your queries and XML layout (but honestly, that is the easy part), but even for the data define it will lose your formula columns as well as report triggers.
    I have used the converter on several dozen rdf files and I have yet to see one that is better than 10-20% ready for use after the conversion process.
    I would strongly suggest that you only convert the reports that you have to convert (for enhancements, modifications, etc). If it ain't broke in old Oracle Reports, dont' try to fix it in BIP.

  • Will the reports developed in sql server 2008 r2 BIDS work when deployed on sql server 2012 reporting manager

    Will the reports developed in sql server 2008 r2 BIDS work when deployed on sql server 2012 reporting manager?
    when I check on Microsoft site it says
    Reports are not upgraded when you upload a report definition file directly to the report server
    or SharePoint site. Upgrading a report definition in SQL Server Data Tools is the only way to upgrade the .rdl file.
    When you open an .rdl file in Report Designer in SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), if the report was
    created for a previous namespace, Report Designer automatically creates a backup file and upgrades the report to the current namespace.
    This is the only way you can upgrade a report definition file.
    Now here is another confusing statement which says
    You can upload an .rdl file created in an earlier version of Reporting Services to a SQL Server
    2012 report server and it is automatically upgraded on first use. The report server stores the report definition file in the original format. The report is automatically upgraded the first time it is viewed, but the stored report definition file remains
    unchanged.
    All I want to know is if I deploy a rdl made in 2008 r2 to 2012 will it work on the report manager of
    2012?
    <o:p>
    </o:p>
    Mudassar

    I have tested this fucntionality and can confirm that ssrs 2008 r2 reports work when you deploy them on new ssrs 2012 report manager .
    No Migration is required .
    I didnt even moved report server dbs .All I did is just deployed reports on the report manager and it worked .
    "You
    can upload an .rdl file created in an earlier version of Reporting Services to a SQL Server 2012 report server and it is automatically upgraded on first use. "
    Microsoft needs to correct this the documentation is misleading

  • Parsing a string in Oracle Reports Developer

    What this will be used for is just to have a web page allow input of the name and PID so that a simple printout of those items will show up on the .rdf.

  • Urgent Help--Mass Migration of Reports to 10g

    Hi All,
    We have about 350 reports that we want to migrate to 10g. Is there a way to migrate them all using a batch program or some tool instead of opening them one by one in the reports developer?
    PLEASE HELP URGENT.
    Thank a lot in advance.

    Okay, I see. The supported migration path from Reports 2.5 to 9i, is to first migrate to 6i & then to 9i/10g.
    Please check this Metalink Note 90026.1 "Migrating Reports V2.5 --> V3.0 --> V6.0"
    You might also be able to use rwconverter (in 6i I think the binary is called rwconv60) instead if Reports Builder:
    rwconverter userid=scott/tiger@oracle batch=yes
    source=<reportname> stype=rdffile DTYPE=REPFILE OVERWRITE=yes logfile=log.txt overwrite=yes
    You can write a batch-file to convert all of your 350 Reports.

    I am not a new reports developer but I am new to developing reports for Oracel Applications. Trying to open Standard Reports like POXPRPOP.rdf (Purchase Order) seems troublesome on a client based 6i development environment. User Exits is usually a C program which is called by the report to do some processing - in this case, it could be doing some formatting, etc.
    You can comment them out (in the interim) if you want to run the report in the Reports Builder to test your changes. Hopefully, it will still work for you to find out whether your changes are okay. This may speed up on the development process.
    However, you will still need to transfer the RDF back to the Unix box eventually and test it through Oracle Apps.
    Hope that helps.

  • I need to migrate an XPI developed for Firefox 2.x on Solaris to Firefox 3.6 for Windows

    I need to migrate an XPI developed for Firefox 2.x on Sun Solaris to Firefox 3.6 on Windows. The XPI archive contains a XUL file which gives many error messages when I use the XPI addon:
    C:\>firefox.exe -trmail-view
    What would be the best approach? Try to modify existing files XUL/JS files or start with the new JS files from Firefox 3.6 Windows?
    Existing XPI contains files:

    To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data. See https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox
    You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
    To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
    For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Migrate Webi Report / Universe from Dev to production

    Hello,
    there are lot of possibilities to migrate a Webi report or a universe  from Development server to Production server. my question for the experts is what is best practice scenario to do that. What should i take in consideration.
    if i rename my Production universe, place it in an other Path and  base my migration on the option "compare name and Path" of the universes. would it migrate ? What about the Connection ?
    My Target when migrating Universes. Is only to migrate the universe without connections
    But when migrating Webi Reports is to migrate only the reports without universes or connections. But at the same time be sure that the Report is adressed to the right universe in the Destination System.
    Is that realistic .. Thanx ..

    Prerequest:
    You should have Remote access to both the server the BO is installed
    Approach1:
    Login to source server
    create a folder with the name temp.biar in the desktop of server 1
    Go to import wizard of server 1
    select server 1 as source and temp.biar file as a destination and import all that required to biar file
    from server 1 connect to server 2 and place this biar file in some shared folder
    connect to server2
    open the shared folder and copy that biar file and place it in the desktop of server2
    Go to import wizard of server 2
    select the temp.biar file from desktop of server 2 and destination as server 2
    and complete the process
    Note: as we are doing this in remote, there will be lot of issues while connection to path which sometimes even the erro r message will mislead us....
    Approach2:
    dont create any biar file
    Login to server 2
    Go to import wizard
    select server 1 as source and server 2 as destination and move directly from server to server
    Approach2 is not preffered if server 2 is production serve....
    this may help
    Thanks,
    -Ganesh

  • Technical Document (Exact Procedures) To Migrate Forms/Reports 9i to 10g

    Hi;
    Where can i find the Technical Document (Exact Procedures) To Migrate Forms/Reports 9i to 10g?

    This seems to be a common point of confusion. The "FMw Upgrade Assistant" is a utility which helps you to upgrade the entire Application Server installation to a newer version (e.g. 11.1.x). This has nothing to do with your Forms (fmb, mmb, pll, etc) or Reports (rep, rdf, etc) applications. Generally speaking, I would say that using the UA is not necessary and likely should not be used in most cases. Cases where it should be used might include a situation where your previous version has been significantly customized and you don't know how or don't want to make the same customization in the new environment manually. Whether you are talking about a new product (Oracle or not) or even a new OS, generally your best bet is to start with a clean, new installation. Attempting to upgrade an existing version always comes with problems. Just one man's opinion ;-)
    As for your Forms application(s), there is a Forms Migration Assistant (FMA), explained in the Forms Upgrade Guide:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24269_01/doc.11120/e24478/toc.htm
    That said, just like using UA, it is always better to take the extra time and not rely on such tools if they can be avoided. In most cases, the FMA will not be needed. This is especially true if your application is coming from version 10. For older versions, using FMA might be beneficial.
    So, to the point, in order to move a Forms application (fmb, mmb, pll) from version 10 to 11 is as simply as recompiling your modules using the v11 compiler. That's it ;-)
