Migration on Production from Development

Hi,
I have no idea about migration from development to production. First time I'll be doing this on my own.
Could you please guide me on this.
Development Environment is as:
HFM - 11.1.2.1
EAL - 11.1.1.4
Essbase - 11.1.2.1
OBIEE - 11.1.1.7
HFM is already there at client side. We installed OBIEE, Weblogic, Essbase, EAL.
OBIEE will be taken care of by OBIEE team. I have to look into Essbase/EAL part. We already have 2 HFM applications. Then we created 2 Essbase cubes via EAL from HFM. Then we created one more cube in Essbase and merged it with those 2 EAL generated cubes.
We have transparent partitioning with merged cube as target and 2 cubes as sources. We have formulas on some members in Essbase cubes. We have MAXL scripts to automate creation of some new members and loading of formulas in Essbase cubes.
OBIEE reporting is done on final merged Essbase cube.
So if I am asked to migrate Essbase/EAL on production server, looking at this scenario, please guide me step by step.
I think development and production server architecture are different in terms of no. of servers etc. I am not into installation/technical stuff. So while migrating Essbase/EAL components, such technical parameters will also come into picture ?
Thanks,
RS

  • SharePoint 2013 : Migration of customization from development server to production server

    Dear all,
I have the following scenario and servers:
    1. Development Server; (Server where our developers would develop our dms and/or enhancement based on change request)
    2. Test Server; (Test server where our users will test the system (dms) and/or enhancement requested)
    3. Production Server (Our production server where only our end users will have access , developers wont have access to this env.)
My question is how to migrate our changes from development server to test server and finally to production server?
Is there a mechanism/ guide /best practice approach for this?
Any help/guide would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks & regards

    Hi Vinay,
    Thanks for posting your issue, Moving stuff from environment to environment will depending on your stuff;
Content, like list items and documents, can't be easily moved. They can be moved with 3rd party solutions, or custom code. You can do it with a C# solution or even using PowerShell.
Stuff like lists, libraries, master pages, CSS, etc. should be packaged in a solution file, either sand box or farm solution. This solution file can contain all of the assets you require, and then it can be deployed into a new environment, which then provisions
all the stuff you need (it could also load up test/sample data if needed)
Another nice solution, if you're working with a brand new site, is to back it up and restore it into another environment. That helps get the bulk of the stuff copied over, and then you can use one of the above methods for continuing updates.
Also, check out below mentioned URL to move content from on environment to another environment

  • Migrating SAP products from a non-SQL Server platform to a SQL Server 2005

    Hi,
    I have another question too.
Can someone pls provide me the Considerations for Migrating SAP products from a non-SQL Server platform to a SQL Server 2005 platform?
More specifically from Oracle to SQL 2005.
    Regards
    Abhi

    Hello
You need to perform an OSDB migration.
This will involve exporting your SAP system into a DB neutral format and then reloading this into an SQL 2005 SAP system.
    Please review http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration
I recommend you review the homo/heterogeneous system copy guide for your SAP release.

    Many thanx in Advance

    Hi Babloo,
According to the error message, the package may have failed are as follows:
The user account that is used to run the package under SQL Server Agent in PRODUCTION server differs from the original package author.
The user account does not have the required permissions to make connections or to access resources outside the SSIS package.
The package may not run in the following scenarios:
The current user cannot decrypt secrets from the package. This scenario can occur if the current account or the execution account differs from the original package author, and the package's ProtectionLevel property setting does not let the current user
decrypt secrets in the package. In this scenario, we can change the SSIS Package ProtectionLevel property to EncryptSensitiveWithPassword, then modify the SQL Server Agent job step command line to include this password.
File access fails because the current user does not have the required permissions to write to the file share that the connection manager accesses. In this scenario, we can create a SQL Server Agent proxy account. This proxy account must use a credential
that lets SQL Server Agent run the job as the account that created the package or as an account that has the required permissions.

  • How to move modified multiprovider to production from development

    Hi Guru,
we had modified the multioprovider(based on 2 infocubes) in the  development system and need to transport to the production,in development we had deleted the data in the cubes to redesign the multiprovider, so what will be the case in production ,did i need to delete the data in cubes before transporting the mulitprovider?
Edited by: venkata cv on May 28, 2009 5:19 PM

    Hi venkat,
                  Did you modify only Multirovider.
If so Collect Multirovider in transport connection
    choose Grouping option as -
    >only necessary object
    collection mode as -
    > Collect automatically.
    assign package
collect under one request by click on transportation icon.
Go to TX : SE09  release your request.
Import request in respective target system based on your transportation route else communicate with basis team.
    Hope this will help you.

  • How to replace a page in production from development?

    Hi,
My development environment is Apex running locally on a Windows 7 box (Apex 4.2.2 and Oracle 11g).  I want to export a single page from the development app and import it (replacing the same page number) in the production app, which resides on a 3rd party app hosting server (also version 4.2.2).  When importing into the production environment, I get the following message.
"This page was exported from a different application or from an application in different workspace. Page cannot be installed in this application."
There must be a way to export/import a single page from a development environment into a production environment.  What approach should be taken?
    Thanks,
    Kim

As long as the apps have the same app id, you should be able to export from dev and import into production.. However, this is NOT the recommended method to do migrations..  Better to do an app as apposed to pages..

  • What is the use of transporting BEx query to production from development ?

    Hi !
if create a query by copying an existing query and make some modification in production and sent it to client..and client is happy as it satisfies all his requirement .
Then what is the use of creating Bex query in development and transport it in quality and then to production if we can create directly in production ?

    Hi,
There is something called as SOX compliance..and three system landscape.
First of all you are not suppose to make changes to standard qeuries.
You can give it to the client a new copied query wirth required changes and it is very much accepted as well but how will it be tracked for future support.
Suppose there is a change in the underlying cube...this will affect all the queries and the new copied query which no one knows about will be affected too.How will you test it if its workinf fine with the new flow.
If you want to do the testing in production as well.... then you are not following SAP guidelines and may be you are violating the contract signed by you and your client.
    Thanks

  • How to do Migration of OWSM policy from development to staging

The technical document for OWSM states that it
Supports migration of policy from development to staging, and then on to full-blown production, but there is no clear cut strategy given for the same in any of the documents. Can some body help me out in finding this info anywhere ? If somebody has implemented the same can the strategy to migrate the policy in OWSM from development to staging be shared ? Thanks in advance for the same

    Hi Bhuvi,
We certainly had discussion with Oracle and thought about this at the very beginning of our implementation. And the answer is there is no clean way to do this in current release. So our SOP is manual process. You may have some help with Policy Templates.
What we also heard is there will be some significant changes to WSM in r11 in terms it's metadata and support for WS-Policy standard. So we hope those changes are for better and they address the migration of service policies across environments in r11.

  • Migrating of Application from Production back to Development

I have a hopefully quick question regarding the migration of an application from current production back to development. I have an application that was created in development and then migrated to production successfully. During the budget cycle, we made quite a few changes in the production application, but not the development application due to time constraints. I would like to keep the application that's currently in development as is and then copy the production application back over to development.
If the apps are the same name, what would be the best practice? Duplicate the current dev app as a new app, rename it and then migrate the prod app over to dev?
    Thanks!

If you want to keep your existing dev app in its current state then you could copy it over to a new app, then copy your prod back to dev, the choice is really yours.
    Cheers

  • Transitioning WSRP producer registrations from development to production

    Hi there,
we're currently struggling a bit with the notion of producer registrations vs. the need for separating our development environment from production.
    Here's what we do:
    1. We create a producer connection in JDeveloper, but using the development server's portlet deployment as WSDL endpoint
    2. We then continue to create some pages, instantiating portlets from the newly created producer as we go along
    3. We deploy that to our development environment. All is well!
    4. We (at some time in our projects lifecycle) try to go ahead and deploy to production. For that, we'd like to change the URL of the producer connection while preserving all the pages we composed (at design time), so far.
    5. First, we simply change the producer url in connections.xml before starting to predeploy. -> Error, since the ID of the registration handle included in our local MDS doesn't match anything that exists in the actual production environment.
    6. Next, we try to predeploy/deploy the EAR file as is, then change the actual producer URL using WLST (setWSRPProducer, registerWSRPProducer, degisterWSRPProducer, etc) or the Fusion Enterprise Manager. -> Doesn't work either, since deregistration/registration invalidates all the existing portlet instance files we have in our original MDS/MAR file.
So here's my question: What are best practices you can recommend when working with WSRP producers and a (clean) separation between development, testing and production environment? Are design-time producer registrations/portlet instantiations even possible in such a context? Should we perhaps use the preference data migration tool for migrating consumer registrations from one environment to the other? Even when one of those environments is unstable (dev) and the other supposed to be stable (production)? Or should we (at the portlet-level) disable consumer registrations entirely? If yes: How to do this in WebCenter?
    Help is deeply appreciated :-)!
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
You raise good questions that I would love to explore further as well and it would be great if you could let me know what deployment approach you have come up with. Some of this is covered under section http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_imp_exp.htm and http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/core.1111/e10105/deployer_role.htm which I am sure you have already reviewed. I have a much simpler problem with getting a Null Exception Error every time that I simply try to register a WSRP Producer with the sample .Net service - have you ever tried that and have come across the same issue?
    Thanks,
    Michael.

  • OWB propagation from development to production environment

Our department is in need to implement overall security around our production data warehouse.
One issue that seems to bother our management is having only one OWB Designer where developers would have to be responsible enough to use snapshots and export mappings to mdl files. Management would like to have development and production OWB Designer Repository where production designer would always be in sync with what is deployed in prd database. Also prd OWB Designer Repository would be like a source safe so we have to always get a mapping from prd designer move it dev designer and when done propagate changes back to prd designer and then deploy to prd database.
Would this be a good approach?
Any input on how to handle propagation from development to production environment, and if you are aware of "best practices" when it comes to OWB environment is appreciated.

    Hi,
Copy whole catalog and rpd from dev to prob.
If you want to copy specific report go to OracleBIData\web\catalog\samplesales\root\shared\sample+sales(group folder name)
You can copy reports under folders and dashboards in _portal in Sample sales group folder...both file and .atr file. But you may miss security applied on those dashboards.
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2008/04/28/migration-obiee-projects-between-dev-and-prod-environments/
Best practice is to copy whole catalog and rpd (or) Copy shared and system folders and their .atr files from OracleBIData\web\catalog\samplesales\root so that you will not miss security and you will not over ride users folders which may contain some data created by them.
    Thanks,

  • Error while importing the ODI Package from Development to Production Enviroment

    Hello Everybody,
Currently I'm face the problem when import ODI models (from Development) to Production environment
And the error show follwing error:
    ODI - 23040 Import file "C:/BIAPPS_Package/Models/XyZ.xml" error
    please help.

Do the user performing the import have permissions to import models to the production environment? I'd also mention that you would have a better setup if your production environment only held executables such as scenarios, load plans etc. and not development objects. It leads to better change control management and simplifies the migration process from DEV --> PROD
