  • Attaching Variable to the Library for Report Painter for Cost center report

    Hi,
I want to attach the Variable - "Cost element group" to the Library for Report Painter for getting Cost center report. The Cost center report should be cost element group wise with actaul, budget and variance. Please let me know the process.

    hi..
I think you have to first define Attribute mis as "V" in Cost element master basic data tab for the elements you want to capture as varible.
Then make a Cost element group / set in KAH1/GS01 and use it in your report.

  • Using AE(htmldb 2.0)  as for reporting tool for other oracle databases.

Maybe I was mistaken, but when I first saw the HTMLDB demo's I saw this as a slick way to build a browser based reporting tool for the masses for quasi-ad-hoc reporting on some of our larger databases that currently have limited reporting capability, and also as a possible replacement for the many MSAccess applets we have.
I just got 2.0 installed and working on a 9i database and went through the basic tutorials, but I can't find much info on how to connect to other oracle databases.
    Are my options as follows?:
create dblinks from the local database that houses htmldb to all the other databases?
    or
install htmldb schemas on each database I want to access from htmldb?
    or
I'll keep looking, but if any of you have any pointers or know of a tutorial that explains the best way to do this it would be greatly appreciated!

As for question 1, yep, that's what I mean. Example:
In a schema in the App Express instance, create a user called "APP1_USER", and then
create view app1_user.people as select * from people@link_user@remotedb
As for the next question, using the built-in insert/update/delete processes will give you
ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
among other errors. Apparently version 2.1 will fix this. See Cannot Update VARCHAR column in Remote DB
We address this problem by creating pl/sql APIs for DML, and then writing our own insert/update processes. Slows us down a little, but even with that, App Express remains a productive choice for us.
Another weird problem: auto-row fetch (built-in to HTML DB) doesn't work over db links when you have two columns for a primary key. Many ways around this, e.g. create sequence-populated primary key, create a view with single column that concatenates primary key column values (key1|key2)
    Hope this helps!

    Hi,
Please check the height and width of the frame not to be less than the items enclosing.
Check VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL elasticity properties of the frame.
Check if the current frame is crossing its parent frame of illegal anchoring with other objects.

  • Recommendations for reporting tools for Ora Payroll

    Hi
My client has installed Oracle PAY as a vanilla solution (Fast Forward) to a old Rebus legacy system. I'm currently putting together a fit gap analysis on reporting requirements.
Many of the standard payroll reports are replicated by oracle. But the legacy system is also used to provide reports on a ad-hoc basis. The old system intergates and produces basic reports.
Considering that the only module available at moment is PAYROLL what options have I? Can I look to sponsor the purchase of some reporting software?
    Thanks
    M

The offical answer from Oracle for end user reporting is Discoverer. There are other cheaper options and if you wanted a 'stop gap' you may be better with them. In terms of support we would always recomend an 'all' Oracle solution so Discoverer (Disco in slang) would be the route.
Not sure about your question but it looks like you need to pull data from both systems onto one report is that right? is the other system Oracle based? or do i have that compelely wrong?
Many standard Oracle reports are written in Oracle Reports. These are great for technical people to design and then user to run. Oracle reports is not an end user tool.

  • Report for Pending 103 for 105 (If GR based IV is untick condition)

    Hi,
I required logic for mapping the report in Pending 103 for 105, If GR based IV is untick condition in PO.
Our business accept the material with movement type 103. After various tests (outside SAP), we post this document with movement type 105.
Normally each MIGO document has a reference document no . In case of 103 document, the reference docu no is the same no. In case of 105 document, the reference docu no is the docu no of 103.
It is noticed that for some 103 and 105 documents, the reference docu no is blank when GR based IV is not ticked in the Purchase order.
We need some logic to find the ref of 103 doc in 105 doc.
    Regards,
    Maddali

    Thanks for your promt reply.
I have seen ME2M/ ME2L with selection parameter we104 or we105. However our client required specific report format for controlling this issue.
So I am trying for logic in this particular senarieo.

  • How to generate the ATR files for reports with out manually?

    Hi all,
how to create the ATR files for reports in OBIEE 11g with out manually?
is there any other method to create the ATR files by using the OBIEE Server?
please provide me the solution for this?
we are creating manually for each and every report, it is time taken process how can we generate ATR files automatically
    by using the OBIEE Server?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I am afraid not.ATR are attributes files contains the object's full name, access controllist (ACL), description, and so on.Each catalog object has a corresponding attributes file, I am not sure why do you have to generate the atr files. In case you need info about atr files: http://businessdecisionsystems.com/blog/?p=7
If you have huge number of similar reports(with filter variations and same kind of layout), try to play around with the xml to minimize the development effort.

  • Strategies for report management?

Folks -- I'm a newbie to development, and to reports development, and to  Crystal.  So I know how thrilled y'all will be to work with me!
I am responsible for report development for a new HRIS system we're implementing.  We have Crystal Reports (XI rel 2) and the "eval" 5-user version of Crystal Reports server that comes with it.  Right now, I'm trying to use that for report distribution, though I'll probably have to learn Visual and move that way for more widespread distribution.
In the meantime, the onslaught of report requests is overwhelming me -- not only in terms of getting them done, but in terms of MANAGING them.
With Crystal Server, my files are saved to this weird directory structure (like c$\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\FileStore\Input\a_012\019\000\4876\crypticname.rpt).
I'm trying to find an easy yet logical way to manage the REQUESTS, DEVELOPMENT, and finalization of all of my reports (I will have, probably, 50-100 when all done, but they're constantly changing).
I tried keeping a "local" folder structure and then only moving them to the server when they're "finalized."  This is proving difficult, because of the "urgent" change requests that come in (we're not in a highly-structured environment).
I would love to hear how others manage their reports inventory.  Have you built a database (using what?)?  Bought a product?    I'm just coming up clueless on the best/easiest way to do this!
    Thanks
    MK

    Hi Kent,
       What a brave guy !
First off, you need to a simple, consistent, helpful way to deal with the users requests.
You need a report requirements sheet.
This sheet will contain things like:
    -Purpose of report
-Report Title (...this is more important than you might think.
For instance, if it's and inventory report, you might want all in this group to start with "INV", like "INV_Fall_Summary", etc.
That way, they are all listed together in the folder, db, etc.)
    ...then table.field + filter like...
    -Table.field  > 5
    -Table.filed between 2 and 8
...then, when someone wants a report, they fill out the requirements sheet and hand it to you.  Also include a place for them to sign it.  Most people are pretty cool, but occasionally your boss says "..they say that's not what they asked for..."
and you can say "...is this their signature ...?"
If they want a change, they fill out a change request.
Both the requirement sheet and change request make the user thing about what they are asking you for.  What you DON'T want, is for someone to just drop by your desk and say "hey, can write me up a quick one on blah, blah..."...'cause, sure enough, they'll walk away and you'll be stuck just trying to remember a part of what they said...even worse, they won't remember it all either.
    Happy Hunting,
    The Panda
...then you need report standards like...
    -Report Title: Arial 16 Bold
-Groups Headings : Arial 12 Bold
    -etc

  • Creating a Library in Report Writer for FI-SL

    Hello everybody,
When creating a library (table ZZGLTRS) for Report Writer for FI-SL I have the following message:
"Table ZZGLTRS is not installed in Report Writer" and the description of the message says:
"The Report Writer can only report on tables if the attributes of these tables that are relevant for reporting are defined in control tables. This is not the case for table ZZGLTRS"
Does anybody knows what does this "control tables" mean? Should I activate this ZZGLTRS table somewhere to be used in report Writer?

  • SQL failover test for reporting

I have setup a mirror and failover for sql appv reporting.
does anyone know of a good way to test if the failover is working?
    Thanks
    Dave Kozlowski

Note that SQL Mirroring is not supported for the Reporting database (only for the Management DB):
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn343758.aspx
    In this thread someone tried to do the same for Reporting as for Management, but this didn't work;
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/20b1d02d-7b94-4b9d-8dfe-d81df93dc65e/appv-5-reporting-database-sql-mirroring?forum=mdopappv
And here is an article that explains how to configure mirroring for the Managemnt DB a little bit more detailed (but also not for Reporting):http://www.sbcprojects.com/blog/93-how-to-get-your-app-v-5-database-high-available-with-sql-mirroring.html
So I'd say that it perhaps doesn't work that easy. Actually I didn't try how the client behaves if the Reporting Server can't talk to the DB. I'd expect that the Reporting Server returns an error to the client if RepSrv can't access the database - so the
client gets the info that the reporting data was not uploaded successfully. In that case, the client stores the usage data loally and just tries to upload it durig the next schedule... HA for the Reporting DB should not be necessary.

  • Best practices for loading apo planning book data to cube for reporting

    Hi,
I would like to know whether there are any Best practices for loading apo planning book data to cube for reporting.
I have seen 2 types of Design:
    1) The Planning Book Extractor data is Loaded first to the APO BW system within a Cube, and then get transferred to the Actual BW system. Reports are run from the Actual BW system cube.
    2) The Planning Book Extractor data is loaded directly to a cube within the Actual BW system.
We do these data loads during evening hours once in a day.
    Rgds
    Gk

    Hi GK,
What I have normally seen is:
    1) Data would be extracted from APO Planning Area to APO Cube (FOR BACKUP purpose). Weekly or monthly, depending on how much data change you expect, or how critical it is for business. Backups are mostly monthly for DP.
    2) Data extracted from APO planning area directly to DSO of staging layer in BW, and then to BW cubes, for reporting.
    For DP monthly, SNP daily
You can also use the option 1 that you mentioned below. In this case, the APO cube is the backup cube, while the BW cube is the one that you could use for reporting, and this BW cube gets data from APO cube.
Benefit in this case is that we have to extract data from Planning Area only once. So, planning area is available for jobs/users for more time. However, backup and reporting extraction are getting mixed in this case, so issues in the flow could impact both the backup and the reporting. We have used this scenario recently, and yet to see the full impact.
    Thanks - Pawan

    Hi,
What are the minimum permissions required by User (expect for checking the Design Console checkbox on user profile) to access Design Console in OIM 11g R1 (11.1.1.5.0)?
Ofcourse, we donot want to add the user in System Admin group.
We just want that the user is able to modify the lookups thru' DC.

11g: End-User Administrator (Select Design Console Access Attribute)
    Permissions you can give :
Go to Role > Data Object permission > Select desired permissions from there
