Three days ago I tried to install the javapetstore-2.0-ea5 using the following combination:
Netbeans 5.5.1
Glassfish v1
ubuntu 7.04.
I am new to java and java EE so I could n' t easily figure out the solutions to the problems that I have faced. Generally, the procedure was easy but there was a problem that i could n' t resolve easily, but after a very close observation. The problem is that the instructions guide to change the file build.properties and specially the directive:
javaee.server.passwordfile
It should have as value the path to the password file of glassfish. But here is the problem. The passwordfile in glassfish v1, doesn' t have the following form:
AS_ADMIN_PASSWORD=<javaeesdk-admin-password>
but
AS_ADMIN_ADMINPASSWORD=<javaeesdk-admin-password>
This results to the failure of the creation fo datasource and jdbcpool for the database of petstore.
To solve the problem, you just have to change the directive inside the password file, to AS_ADMIN_PASSWORD.

BUILD FAILED (total time: 2 seconds)I had the same problem but not with blueprints and I managed to start manually the sun server, clean and build the project and copy the *.war file from the project_folder/dist/ to C:\Sun\SDK\domains\domain1\autodeploy.
If this doesn't work you could try to reinstall netbeans and java .

WinXP install problem (solved!), RAM problem (solved!)

Hello, this is my first post on this forum.
Yesterday I bought a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mainboard along with an Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester.
The first problem I had was with Dual DDR. I have two sticks of double sided 512MB Kingston Value PC3200 DDR, one has Infineon chips, other has ELPIDA chips. I put them in DIMM1 & DIMM2, but the pc refused to give any display on screen, the Bracket2 showed some kind of memory error.
So I removed one stick and put in DIMM3, changing to single channel mode.
(I also tried with 2 sticks of 512MB TwinMOS PC3200 with mtech chips, no display in dual DDR mode.)
After that the machine worked. I put the XP CD and formatted using NTFS. While XP was copying the first set of files to the disk, I got random file errors, telling me that the files in the harddisk are not in correct format.
Some time later I managed to install the files without any errors, but after the first reboot, I get a "Error loading operating system" or "Missing operating system" error. I tried everything I could find on this forum, from BIOS settings to removing 1 mem stick from the mobo, fixmbr, removed other drives etc. I also updated the BIOS to 1.4.
I spent 2 days trying to install Windows XP, but I can't seem to manage it.
I have a 200GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Plus PATA drive, which used to work with my old nForce2 Ultra mobo.
I checked the device table at system startup, it shows the drive as LRG, ATA 100, 200GB. My other drive is shown as LBA, ATA 100, 80GB. Would this LRG - LBA difference cause any problems?
The weirdest thing is, I have an older 20GB Quantum disk, I first tried using NTFS on it, I got the same boot errors, then I created a 4GB partition and formatted it using FAT32. Windows installed with no problems and right now I'm writing this message from the FAT32 formatted PC.
To sum my problem, I can't use Dual DDR and I wanted to know if this is a common problem (black screen). And I can't install Windows XP on my NTFS formatted drives ("missing operating system", "error loading operating system").
I'm really not used to have so many problems related to motherboards.

- usually occurs when there's a non os hd in front of the system disk in the boot sequence. The default order of drive recognition is ide , sata. The bios offers a way to customise this in Advanced Bios Settings - HD Boot Order -
In this screen you should see all your Hard drives. the drive you want to boot from should be moved to the top of this list, select the drive & move it using the page up/down keys.
2) what hdrives did you have plugged in when you installed windows originnaly
if you choose a hard drive that is lower down the drive sequence windows will install to the selected drive but will write the boot sector to the 1st drive. you can usually tell if this happens as your windows drive won't be C;\ . Best way round this is to disconnect any drives in front of the one you want unytil after windows is installed. then re-connecting.
You can check wether this is gioing to happen, with all drives connected, by entering bios Standard bios features and checking the disk order, disconnect any drives b4 the 1 you want the os on.
3) You can download & run Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool this is a diagnostic tool that you can ,install on a floppy or cd , it will test your memory & report any errors. More info is on web site. Memory errors could have caused some of your problems. it's best to check a module at a time in slot 1.
if error free run test with both modules slot 1 & 2.
Dual channel will also not run well if the pair of modules used have different timings on the spd memory chips. download Everest, it's a good utility but specically can help provide details of your mamory. with all dram settings on auto check the Memory chipset tab to see your memory timings on auto these are from the SPD so you can identify any differences. put 1 module at a time in slot1 to get the data for your modules.
If you do find different timings manually change the dram settings in bios to that of the slowest module. This may enable you to run dual channel in slots 1& 2,
Most pps with your mobo have stability probs trying to run 2 modules in slots 1 & 3
4) With these mobos the forum has found that a 12v supply of 24Amps is needed to ensure good stability Basic Building Tips Quote
Typically we have noted many issues based on stability with PSU's being rated at less than 24A on the 12v rail.
Your zalman as far as i can see on the website only gives 18amps, again this can give stability issues.
5) NTFS & XP go together like a horse & cart. when installing xp its best to get a coffee & not take the quick format option as the quick format will not isolate or correct any disk errors. Again these errors may be as aresult of memory, disk order power or any combination of the 3.

My install problems solved...hopefully

Maybe this will help others, i was having blue screen, grey screen etc etc issues as well successful apps not quitting and many other issues.
Turns out despite removing all my login items i still had "hardware monitor" installed an app to check all your ram /proc temperatures which seemed to still launch itself and live through being deleted from the login items list. Well i deleted the whole app and now (he said firmly touching wood) it seems im up and running ... and flying, man everything is so much quicker. anyway hope this helps, really check those startup apps and anything you think launches on startup ... despite being told not to! 3rd party stuff really can be a killer

I was using mac address filtering before with no wpa or wep password. After upgrading I continued with the same configurations. Then I removed the mac address filtering and implemented WPA password. In both situations now I can connect without problems.
I indeed have seen other threads about leopard. It is strange how some people seem to have problems while other not, but most strange is that it seems that there is no a unique solution.

975X platinum bluescreening on XP install [ problem solved ]

Ive got a 975X platinum mobo, using an E6600, 7950GX2, and 2X1GB corsair 667 RAM.
My hard drives are 2X SATA 2 250gb and 1 X 80GB SATA 2.
On initial boot i am able to get into BIOS and sort out boot sequence to boot from disc. And it recognises all of my hard drives.
When i try to install windows XP Home , after all the initial loading, just before the actual install takes place, i get a blue screen error saying theres a problem. I suspected it might have been the hard drives, so i took 2 out, leaving one 250gb in, and tried again. I got the same problem.
I have also tried with only 1 stick of RAM in, and also using a different optical drive. I still get the same problem
Im not sure what the problem can be, as i havent tried to RAID the hard drives, and they are all brand new. I did reset the CMOS after a few failed attempts, and that didnt work. I really dont know what i can do now, or what the problem can be.

Would the psu really be whats causing the bluescreen though? Surely if the psu wasnt up to grade then it wouldnt power on propperly or anything? And i did do a fair amount of research on psu. I didnt want to spend over £100, and it had to be SLI complient. (2 X pci-16). I heard a couple of bad things about some of the Akasa PSU range, and after much looking around, i opted for the epsilon. I cant seem to find any top name brands that offer more than 18A per channel at 12v.

PROBLEM SOLVED--CS5 WIN7 X64 INSTALL ERROR DEPENDENCY FAILURE

I just spent 9 hours straight on this, but will was stronger than "its". Now I have both cs4 and cs5, but hopefully it will work if you just have cs5 as well. I also did not try runnning cs5 installer first after implementing the fix, maybe that will work too..And when getting the cs5 error, I went to re-install cs4 but got an error as well so that is why I took the steps I did. On 7x64 do the followin
First run the cs5 cleanup tool and reboot.
Second, go into c:\program file(x86)\common files\adobe\installers . Delete everything in it
Then go into you registry (start, run, then type regedit) and expand to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\ Components ...(if this isnt there, try an install again, then go to the folder that you deleted the files from a moment ago and extract the log from the zip file and open it and go to the end. where it says error 1402 will be followed by a unknown\components\(a bunch of numebers right here)\(more numbers) ...
Copy the numbers directly after the components\ and go back into registry and click edit then "find" paste those numbers into the box and hit find..when you get to the key, scroll ALL the way back up to components again. Right click components and hit permissions.. Go to advanced and then the ownership tab up top.. click edit, hightlight administrator(s), check the box to "replace subcontainers" and click apply. respond yes to everything and close that and hit apply again if asked. then click the add button above the advanced button you just clicked. when the new box appears, click advanced and then click find now. Highlight Administrators and SYSTEM and hit OK. Then give both of them full rights and hit apply. Then click advanced again and in the first window check the box that says "replace all child objects...." and hit apply. accept the prompts and hit okay.
Now go into c:\windows and on the system32 folder, right click and go to properties. Go to the security tab. Click advanced and then "owner" and click edit. highlght administrators and check the box "replace all child object....." again and hit apply....
Now give Administrators, SYSTEM, AND TrustedInstaller full rights by clicking edit above the advanced tab in the first properties box.. Then click advanced again and in the first window click replace all child object....." again and hit apply....
Now do the same for the winsxs folder and (for good measure i did syswow64 but not sure if its necessary)...
Now you should be able to install both versions..(as i said, I installed cs4 first, maybe it was not necessary)...
If you dont like the idea of just blindly giving administrators full rights to all system folders, you can spend MANY MANY hours running the installs over and over and getting the faulty registry value that caused it to fail and create specific permissions for that and then go on to the next value that fails......what a pain

I have been trying to install CS5 MC now for weeks. I first got it to install everything except After Effects and Premiere Pro. Then trying to follow all the suggestions on this forum I wound up not being able to install any part of it at all. Now..
Well...following your kind suggestions as much to the letter as I could I have now been able to install everything...except Affter Effects and Premiere Pro. Sigh.
At least I can get back to work on everything that doesn't require AE and PPro. I still need to get them installed and working.

OfficeJet 7000 Wide Format - network install problem

Hello to all.
I get a call to install this printer in a small network of three computers. All of them are Windows XP 32bit. Install process is fine till one point. Printer is recognized on the network. Address is given by DHCP server on ADSL router. Install program see it and when I click 'next' I see in dialog box 'printer detected'. Few seconds after that large red 'X' shows on screen. No message, no error number. Nothing. Then I input IP address through web browser. Printer details are shown. Ink level, IP address, MAC address etc. There I changed IP address to static. Went to other two computers and repeat installation proces. Same thing again. After two hours I was crazy. Connected printer to every PC with USB cable. Install it as local and then changed port from USB to IP address. They can print on it through network but there are some other issues. MSI error started when windows started. I belive it shows because of that kind of installation. But rest of the problems are strange. Their CAD software lags. Saving time was 2 to 10 seconds before installation of OJ7000 and now is minute to minute and a half. When I removed software and printer from one PC saving time was again OK. On owners computer HP image software stopped to respond and he can't use scanner as he did before. Also, they have HP ploter, one laser A4 printer, and K8600 printer wich is on repair. Because of that they bought 7000 model. Does anyone knows why I can't setup printer normally as network when it is visible on the network and I can access all features over the web browser? I need info ASAP if it's possible. Local HP office told me to try HP support chat but they don't have support for that model of printer.

Me again. Problem solved! Small HP tool for installing network printers did the work. Now I just have to find solution for Image Zone software and it's error.
One note about that HP software. If you can, provide driver file for printer and prepare it before you start setup software. Installation process is faster and very easy.

WiFi connection problem solved

My intel iMac and MBA had no problem but iPods 3g and 5g did. I had an old Netgear router connected and sitting next to my Airport Express. On a hunch I diconnected the Netgear and created a guest network to replace the one on the Netgear. PROBLEM SOLVED!
Evidently our iPods and boarder's iPhone had problems sorting out the signals and finding the right addresses. Moving the AE to a higher and slightly more central position also helped.

Same here on a Vodafone PocketWiFi 2.
Tried NetworkManager, wicd, wifi-menu but all have the same issue.
I recently installed Aptosid on another machine and it has the same problem... It also has kernel version 3.9.
All the live CDs I've tried work, even an Arch CD from May works, though a current install does not.
I have no problems connecting to another (wpa2 enterprise) network yet can't on this 3G modem.
I'm hoping this isn't a permanent issue and perhaps an update very soon will fix this.
It seems the only way to fix this for now is to use an old version of Linux. I'm currently running a virtual machine only for the purpose of Internet sharing, very annoying.

Mediawiki, mysql, php? problems [SOLVED]

On Sunday my Arch install that is hosted by Slicehost became unresponsive to them so they had to do an emergency reboot. After it came back up my install of mediawiki was (and still is) only returning a blank page (at least in Firefox). After some digging I found out that part of the problem was that mysqld wasn't starting so I managed to get that fixed by commenting out the lines relating to innodb and putting in skip-innodb into my.cnf. But I'm still getting a blank page.
According to Mediawiki's manual, "A blank white page indicates a PHP error which isn't being printed to the screen." They give two lines to put into LocalSettings.php to force error messages but after doing that I'm still getting a blank page. Changing display_errors in php.ini to ON didn't have any effect. When I load the wiki in Safari I get the following error: "Got java.io.EOFException (Server closed connection while sending the HTTP header.): http://some_url.com/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page". I have no idea what this error means and googling java.io.EOFException doesn't bring up anything very helpful. My PHP Test Page indicates that PHP is up and running.
Any ideas on fixes or where I can find more clues?

Mysql was definitely the root of the problems with Mediawiki. I tried nearly every suggestion listed in the forums for fixing a mysql install that wouldn't start but nothing worked. I even completely uninstalled mysql and reinstalled it but it still refused to start. I switched over to postgresql and switched mediawiki to run with that. Problem solved.

Solaris 10 install problem (requested image to big to fit into memory)

I have just downloaded the iso images and burned to disk. When I go to install I get the message (Requested image to big to fit into memory Error 28) I have 1.5GB so I don't understand the problem. Thanks in advance
It took a long time for me to figure out, but the answer is disable in BIOS memory hole at 15M to 16M. This solved the install problem with Open Solaris and quite a few more such as not being able to install Linux Zenwalk 5.0 or openSUSE 10.3. Their are others also problems I have had with Linux or UNIX that this took care of. JGZ

I had been able to solve the Error 28 issue that in my case was really related to a corrupted boot image:
1. I went in the path /a/platform/i86pc
2. rm boot_archive.
3. sync
4. reboot
At this point the OS will notice the absence of the boot_image and it will regenerate it.
At the time of this operation the CD with solaris 10 was inserted in the CDROM.
When the system restarted it was able to load the OS properly.

HP 6500 Uninstall/Install Problems

I've toiled for 4 hours trying to re-install my hp 6500 that suddenly stopped working from my desktop (wired tcp). I ended up downloading the CD and running it but alas it fails every time. Usually when it tries to "discover" the network it hangs at 66%. I've read reccomendations to do a complete uninstall but no instructions are provided for working from the downloaded software (vice CD). I can still print from wireless laptops but not my desktop. My last action was to try to install it via usb but that crapped out somewhere as well. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

You tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software but everytime you attempt the installations it stalls at 66%, usually when it is trying to discover the network. I would love to get you back up and printing but require a little more information:
1. What is the Exact model of HP 6500 Printer you are using (as there a few in the 6500 series)?
2. What is your current Operating system, Windows or Mac and which version?
3. How do you want the printer connected, USB or Wireless?
4. Have you tried using the software download instead of the CD?

Stuck with grub problem (SOLVED)

Today i tried to upgrade my Arch Linux, it downloaded everything that should be downloaded, it was installing upgrades but at the installing grub it stucks as like this
"Copying /boot/grub/grub.cfg.pacsave to /boot/grub/grub.cfg"
I've waited it for about 15 minutes, it didn't move on. So i did ctrl+z to break. Then i tried to update again. But it gives an error which is:
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
python: /usr/bin/2to3 exists in filesystem
Error occured, no packages were upgraded.
Please help me guys!

Problem solved by moving 2to3 to other directory.

Install problem Error with Z drive

Our IT guys configure our machines with a Z drive as a network share. Any ideas how to resolve the conflict with PE9 install.

I did not pick the Z drive for install. I always pick the C drive if given the option. But PE9 just went to work on its own and told me it could not install to the Z drive... there is a known issue posted here along these lines, however, so I think Adobe is on to it... of course i had to install as a trial version on a second machine to test the disk burning...then I have to solve the install problem, so I can install the license on the machine with the install problem.... all a big catch 22. CS3 install problems

Hi,
I have my original copy of CS3 and have used it daily for 7 years, but now will not open. It told me to contact Adobe, I contacted Adobe, but they would not help, and said to come to this forum. I am in a bind, as I had a project to finish today, and it looks like I will be dealing with this problem instead. I have had a issue similar in the past, but Adobe helped me fix it, but now do not want to fix the flaw in their system. Guess they want people to pay to upgrade? Well, I do not need anything other than CS3, nor do I like shelling out thousands for things I do not need. Anyhow, I am in a bind to get back up and running. Any help is appreciated.
I am using Creative Suite 3 web premium on Windows Vista 64 bit.
I have been searching on the forums for help, but nothing seems to work. I have even tried a clean install of a fresh download from the Adobe site, and the problem is worse now. All it will install is Adobe Acrobat 8 and Shared Components. I get errors for the other contents, and it will not tell me why they are not installing. It does ask me to define a path to Adobepdf.dll. I did find some info. on how to do that, but it still does not work. My photoshop was working fine yesterday, and has been for years. Not sure what the problem is, I have not changed anything.

I was online yesterday with TechSupport for about an hour.   It appears that there is an issue with the "host" file which was filled with script from adobe that was causing it not to connect to the internet.
This is on a mac.... not sure on a PC
Click on Finder, then Go Menu on top> Then Go To folder
Type: /etc    (with the slash)
Press Enter
You will see a file named Hosts
Copy the hosts file and paste to desktop.
Open the Hosts file which is copied on the Desktop.
Delete all the entries and make it blank.
Now copy and paste exactly this part---- ### Host Database## localhost is used to configure the loopback interface# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.##127.0.0.1 localhost
Save the file and close it.
Now copy this file from desktop and paste in etc folder. I mean replace the old hosts with the new one from desktop.
First Save the file and close it.
My host file that was filled with a ton of Adobe scripts... once they were gone. Problem solved. ... for now.   My issue was that the "register later" option was no longer available.

CF MX 7.2 XP Install Problem
