Missing API method writeStateMarker in ResponseStateManager

Question

API doc of interface ResponseStateManager says something about a method writeStateMarker(), that is not defined anywhere.
Since the ResponseStateManager is the only one, that knows (and should only know!) about the implementation dependent state markers, this method is really missing, I think.
BTW: Because there could be the need for different state markers depending on component type (hidden form inputs vs. url parameters in hrefs) this method should have the following signature:
writeStateMarker(FacesContext, UIComponent)
The method should be called from writeState in ViewHandler if we are in client state saving mode. So, this ViewHandler method, that is to be called from every UIComponent.encodeEnd (as the API doc says) should also get an additional UIComponent parameter.

The docs for ResponseStateManager are out of date; there was a writeStateMarker() API, but it's been removed. The ViewHandler itself writes out a state marker - if needed - when ViewHandler.writeState() is called. In non-JSP environments, ViewHandler.writeState() may be able to write out state directly without any intermediate state marker.
