Missing artifact javax.servlet.jsp:jsp.api:jar:2.1 Eclipse error
When I try to UPDATE my Maven project ( Chapter 8 - Using JSP with AEM 6.0 ) after I updated my main pom.xml with the javax.servlet.jsp dependancy, I get the following error :Missing artifact javax.servlet.jsp:jsp.api:jar:2.1
I even tried to compile from command line using mvn compile and get the same error :
[ERROR] Failed to execute goal on project company-training-project-bundle: Could not resolve dependencies for project com.adobe.training:company-training-project-bundle:bundle:1.0-SNAPSHOT:
Could not find artifact javax.servlet.jsp:jsp.api:jar:2.1 in adobe (http://repo.adobe.com/nexus/content/groups/public/) -> [Help 1]
If I look at my .m2 dir, I can see that it attempted to get the jar, but it wasn't able to grab it :
Hi Billy,
Try changing the URL from (http://repo.adobe.com/nexus/content/groups/public/) to (https://repo.adobe.com/nexus/content/groups/public/), i.e. add the https.
That should do it. Let us know if it doesn't work.

Hi,
We are using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4(SU5) on windows for development of ADF application. We need to deploy the developed application onto Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.3) which is running on Solaris. We are using BC4J, WAR and EAR deployment profiles in jdeveloper to create the .war and .ear files.
If I deploy the generated ear on a standalone OC4J server install on my windows PC, it works fine.
Now when I deploy the generated .ear file onto the Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 through Application Server Control interface and then try to access the jspx pages under our application we are getting following error:
oracle.classloader.util.AnnotatedNoClassDefFoundError: Missing class: javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.core.Config Dependent class: com.sun.faces.application.ViewHandlerImpl Loader: accaweb.web.accaweb:0.0.0 Code-Source: /oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/applications/accaweb/accaweb/WEB-INF/lib/jsf-impl.jar Configuration: WEB-INF/lib/ directory in /oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/applications/accaweb/accaweb/WEB-INF/libThe missing class is available from the following locations: 1. Code-Source: /oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib/jstl.jar (from WEB-INF/lib/ directory in /oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib) This code-source is available in loader default.web.defaultWebApp:0.0.0. at oracle.classloader.PolicyClassLoader.handleClassNotFound (PolicyClassLoader.java:2051) [oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/lib/pcl.jar (from system property java.class.path), by sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@1482257]
I have confirmed that the .war file inside the .ear file does contain the jstl.jar file under WEB-INF/lib folder. And the jar file does contain the class 'javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.core.Config'
As a workaround, I found that if I copy the jstl.jar file from default-web-app to my application web-inf/lib folder, things start to work fine. ie copy from: '/oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib/jstl.jar'
to: '/oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/applications/accaweb/accaweb/WEB-INF/lib/'
– or –
Another workaround is to add the '/oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib/jstl.jar' file in the classpath for my web application through Application Server Control setting page.
Now both of these workaround needs us to perform additional post deployment steps which should really not be required since the jar files is included in the project.
Has anyone faced this issue? Any pointers in this respect will be a great help.
regards - rutwikSurprise Surprise !
I just tried deploying the file via uploading it from the Application Server Control UI and it worked fine.
Till now, I was ftp'ing the ear file from my PC to the server on which Oracle AS is running and was telling Application Server Control to pick form that uploaded location.
I am still not clear on why it works with HTTP upload and not via the FTP upload?
cheers - rutwik -
Can any one tell why after importing javax.servlet.* and javax.servlet.http is not getting resolved in eclipse 3.2 IDE.
right click on the project in the navigator window and select properties.
you will get property window and then select library tab and click the add library button to add the jar file in which javax.serv... packages are defined. -
Javax.servlet.ServletException & java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
I am getting this javax.servlet.ServletException & java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
exceptions while running jsp in .netbeans.
Iwas able to compile and run jsp pgms , but i am getting this error when i use jsp:useBean.I think the java class created is not in the proper path..netbeans is using tomcat server.The ide put the jsp's in the proper path. but it is not putting the java class i created with setter and getter methods.I also set the classpath. but din't work
I t is eating up my time!Pl. suggest me a solution!
Directory structure is :source file
c:/windows/.netbeans/3.5/samples/jsp
I guess the ide is putting all the class files(jsp) in
C:\WINDOWS\.netbeans\3.5\tomcat406_base\work\Tomcat-Internal\localhost\C_3A_5CWINDOWS_5C.netbeans_5C3.5_5Csampledir\JSP
so i copied the userData.class from source dir to the above directory.
and i also did the
set CLASSPATH= C:\WINDOWS\.netbeans\3.5\tomcat406_base\work\Tomcat-Internal\localhost\C_3A_5CWINDOWS_5C.netbeans_5C3.5_5Csampledir\JSP
in dos prompt
pl. find the code below.

What is the problem here? How can I solve this as I had to restart my Tomcat once a while due to this problem.ok.. I have db classes where all my sql statements methods are being displayed.. In each db class, there will be a getInstance() method to create the connection. Below is one of my db class.. How to I modified the things you had mentioned in my codes..
package aedgeSoft.access;
import aedgeSoft.business.*;
import java.sql.*;
import java.util.*;
import java.util.Date;
import java.io.*;
public class DBMemberType
private Connection con;
private static DBMemberType instance = null;
public static DBMemberType getInstance()

if(instance==null)
instance = new DBMemberType();
catch(SQLException e)
System.out.println("Problems with loading database in DBMemberType");
catch(ClassNotFoundException e)
System.out.println("Problems with loading db driver in DBMemberType");
finally
return instance;

Hi All,
I'm a System Engineer. My application code in Java and using JDK 1.3.1.
My Application deploy in IBM iSeries V5R2 and not error. But after I upgrade to iSeries V5R3, my application encounter missing message error such as "javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Missing message for key common.business.BankAddress".
I already downgrade for iSeries V5R3 to JDk 1.3.1.
Did Weblogic 6.1 support IBM iSeries V5R3?
Do you have any ideas?
Thank you.hi siewmun ,
weblogic 6.1 does't support IBM iSeries V5R3 .
IBM iSeries V5R3 is supported by IBM products mostly.

Javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Missing message for key
I am researching JDevloper (11g) with the possibility of migrating my struts web apps from Eclipse. I use CVS for source control. I started out by creating an application in JDevloper than by using "version" to check out a "module", one of my web apps, and create a project in the application. Next I modified all the project properties required to get a clean compile and set up my DB connection. After this i launched the project (app) in the IDE using the built-in WebLogic app server. Before it even displays the fist page i get this error message: javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Missing message for key "prompt.deploy.mode";. The key ""prompt.deploy.mode"; is in my ApplicationResouces.properties file which it obviously can not find. The place that WebLogic expects it must be different than Tomcat which is the app server i use in Eclipse. This application is also deployed to OAS. If anyone can tell me how to solve this issue I would be most appreciative. Thank you. - Keith

Problem: package javax.servlet.jsp does not exist
I am a novice JSP programmer. My projects that use any javax.servlet classes are not seeing those at all. I am working with a group of folks using Java SE 1.5. (Note: I'm using Windows so the directory separator is "\")
What Used to work:
1. Nearly all my projects were working using Java version 1.6. These projects were developed as examples from Wrox and Apress books about JSP and Struts.
What has changed:
1. I un-installed the version 1.6 of JDK and JRE, as well as tomcat, netbeans, and all the associated libraries/jars.
2. I installed version 1.5 of JDK and JRE, as well as tomcat, netbeans, and all the associated libraries/jars.
3. I updated my JAVA_HOME, CATALINA_HOME, CLASSPATH, and PATH environmental variables. I made sure that the path to servlet-api.jar (in the tomcat common\lib) is included in the classpath.
What is wrong:
1. References to javax.servlet.* are not satisfied--they are flagged in the source code in NetBeans and I get compiler errors with any project containing those references. For example:
... package javax.servlet.jsp does not exist
import javax.servlet.jsp.*;
What I've found:
1. My CATALINA_HOME=C:\Java\Tomcat 5.5
2. My JAVA_HOME=C:\Java\jdk1.5.0_11
3. My CLASSPATH=.;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QTJava.zip;%JAVA_HOME%\lib;%JAVA_HOME%\jre\lib;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\jsp-api.jar;%CATALINA_HOME%\common\lib\servlet-api.jar;C:\Java\logging-log4j-1.2.14\dist\lib\log4j-1.2.14.jar
4. My PATH=c:\wint\BIN;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin;%CATALINA_HOME%\bin;C:\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin;D:\MiKTeX 2.5\miktex\bin;C:\Perl\bin\;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\;C:\SFU\Perl\bin\;C:\SFU\common\;C:\Program Files\Lahey-Fujitsu Fortran\v7.1\Bin;C:\Program Files\Lahey-Fujitsu Fortran\v7.1\Win32\Bin
What I need:
1. I need to have some reference to the servlet classes satisfied in my configuration. Any help is appreciated.
thanks
jondrOh. I got some over-the-shoulder debug help.
My error was in the classpath specification:
The path: %JAVA_HOME%\lib\jsp-api.jar
Should be: %CATALINA_HOME%\lib\jsp-api.jar
That contains the javax.servlet.jsp.*
Thimk.

Please
h5.MUTUSo why didn't you think that the JSP forum here wasn't a good place to ask JSP questions like this one?
You can use <c:for-each> with a List. That's how it's designed. I don't understand why you say you can't. Perhaps you were confused by the SQL tags in JSTL. But anyway, you should just return a List from your EJB and forget about using obscure internal JSP classes. -

I've been trying to do the tutorials in a book titled Apache Jakarta-Tomcat as part of my introduction to JSP. I'm new to Java but do know the basics. I have on my machine Java 1.3, Java 1.4, Java FrameWorks 2.1 and Jython 2.1 on Win2000 Pro. So enough about my configuration. I have never worked with packages also.
I downloaded the files from the books site due to the fact I make a lot of typos when hand coding Java (I've become a pretty good debugger of my own code). But everytime I go to compile the *.java I get error messages. So below you will find HelloTag.java and beneath that the error messages that are thrown when I try and compile it. I tested other bits of *.java and have had no problem compiling them. Is there a JSP module I'm missing?
Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something from my configuration.

9 errorsWell, it looks like you've not got the servlet development kit JAR on your classpath. I think it'll probably be called servlet.jar on your system. Add that to the classpath if it's not already there.
Incidentally, you've bumped into one of the areas Java's slightly lenient - declaring a method that looks like a constructor:
public HelloTag() { }
public void HelloTag() { }The first is a constructor, the second is a normal method. I'm assuming you intended to have the former instead of the latter.
Anyway, hope this helps. -

I have an application which is executing properly in jboss 3.2.5 but as we are trying to upgrade the jboss version i am getting above mentioned error.

My guess would be that you have some of the servlet classes deployed with your application.
Yes.
Any jar files that contain the javax.servlet.* packages should NOT be part of a web application, but are intended to be on the server.
First up all there is no such jar files.
Common candidates:
servlet.jar
servlet-api.jar
j2ee.jar
All those jars are in lib directory of my app server. I have jsp-api and servlet-api.jar as i am using embedded tomcat 6 in jboss appsever.
Check the WEB-INF/lib directory of your web application to see that there are none of those there.
Nothing similar deployed in your ear file?I have extracted my application ear , jar and war then when i checked i found one jar file inside the war but in that no servlet*.jarr files. It is my application oriented files only. I have deleted this ar files and then i executedi am getting same error. Is there any way to find out the exact issue ????.

Javax.servlet.jsp does not exist
Hi,
I'm having difficulty compiling a simple java class. The eror message is on an import javax.servlet.jsp statement. The specific error message is:
package javax.servlet.jsp.tagext does not existThis is just a simple tutorial class from a J2EE book. I am confused if the servlet-api.jar file is what it needs and it isn't finding it, or if I need another file, perhaps the servlet.jar? (What is the difference between the two?)

ServletException: javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagInfo
I'm getting the following exception trying to load a simple tag into a jsp page. Can anybody point me in the right direction since I've searched everywhere and can't find any references to the cause of this error.
As far as I can find out TagInfo is called at page translation time and I'm thinking this class is in the servlet.jar api which I have version 2.2 of and don't see any newer versions on suns site.
Thanks for any help.

javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:853)You have a servlet.jar version2.2?
servlet.jar comes with your servlet container. You don't download it seperately. You have to upgrade your entire server.
Servlet spec version 2.2 (JSP1.1) is fairly old now - That comes with Tomcat3.
Which webserver are you using, and which version?
And what version of TLD are you working with?
What it sounds like is that you are using TLD version which was specified for Servlet2.3/JSP1.2, and as such won't run with your server.
Suggestions
1 - upgrade your servlet container.
2 - if thats not possible, use the older syntax for the TLD file.
Hope this helps,
