Missing images in epub

I have constructed a document in Pages that consists of an introduction and then 28 pages of images (either one or two per page) - total document length is 30 pages.
However when exporting to an epub format only the first 22 pages of images show up in th epub although interestingly the final page which is just "The end" doe show up, so effectively pages 23-29 are missing.
All the pages are definately there when viewed as a Pages document.  Have tried reducing file size etc.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi!
There are some limitations. Here is one: Images beyond the 11MB of un-encoded image data allocation per chapter.

  • Is there a way to create a report of topics with missing images?

If I move all images in a project to a different directory,
is there a way to print out which topics have missing images?
I would like to have all images in the HTMLHelp folder, since
this is the default folder that images are copied to when I insert
them from another source folder. If I move all images from my
"Images" folder to the HTMLHelp folder, is there a way to generate
a report that lists all topics with missing images?
Normally, I've been using the "Images" report to determine
which topics used that image before I moved them, but I'd like a
report that denotes which topics are missing images, period.
    thanks in advance,
    ChristyG

    Hi ChristyG
As long as you only move the images within the RoboHelp
    project, none should go missing!
Unfortunately, I don't believe you have an easy report at
your disposal that will advise which topics contain missing images.

  • Missing images in Word Document

I am having a problem with some missing images when I
generate a Word document from RoboHelp HTML. I have seen similar
problems in these forums and have tried the solutions without
success. I have Word 2002 SP3. I have images in my document that
have conditional tags applied to them. Up until now, I have not had
any trouble with them generating in Word. I added some more images
(using RH to import them into my doc) and I set up the conditional
tags to print those and not the others. In some cases, the images
are generated and in others they are not. There is no X in its
place just a blank line. I have tried erasing the .CPD file and
re-generating. I have tried removing and re-inserting the image.
Also, if I generate the html web help, the images are all there. No
problem. I have tried embedding the images and using links and get
the same result. I have not tried to just generate the PDF because
I need to tweak the document in Word first before generating the
PDF to make everything look good.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Robohelp. That didn't
help either. The image properties all have none (not left or
right). I am running out of ideas to solve this problem. Everything
worked great before so I can't figure out what could possibly be
wrong especially since the webhelp is fine. I also tried moving the
project to my C drive. No change either. The project usually
    resides on a network drive.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it since I have a
document to print for a customer ASAP! Thank you in advance.
    Evelyn

I have been suffering with this problem of missing graphics for some time, even with RoboHelp 8. However, it now seems that I have found the answer and just in case anyone else is still having this problem I thought I would share what worked for me.
After doing some Google searching I found the web site: http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_graphics.htm where the following solution was offered for problems with Mail Merge graphics:
"If you find that on merging to a new document the resulting paths have been changed to something like: {INCLUDEPICTURE"../,./../program%20files/My Program/ProductPictures/ImageName.jpg"\*MERGEFORMATINET} and the merge does not work correctly:-
(In Word 2003) Select Tools > Options > General > Web Options and uncheck "Update links on save""
Whatever this has to do with anything I do not know, but it magically fixed my problem and all images are now appearing in the RoboHelp Word output.
    Cheers,
    Chris

  • The Case of the Missing Image

    Go to this link:
    http://fyiboerne.info/wcid.html
This page is a very simple HTML page which displays two
things: a "< GO BACK" link, which is visible and working
properly, and one jpg image (file name: wcid#2.jpg) which is not
    visible.
I would love to know what is going on here.
Both the html page, and the lone image are in place on the
remote server; however, when I test the page on my testing server
it comes up blank as it does from the browser when online. I've
tried pop-up windows, a download to a pdf version of the .jpg....IT
IS ALWAYS BLANK. Moreover, I have purged the entire site and put it
back...dumped the html file and completely rebuilt it...tried
opening the pdf file and jpg file in Photoshop and Acrobat, where
the image always comes up. In Photoshop, I flattened the layers.
The image shows up in Dreamweaver, but fails to appear in a
preview (using Firefox and Safari), and fails to appear on the
    Internet.
I included the source code for this link in the event anyone
can see a problem. The first source code appears on the page which
links to the page in question. The second source code is the code
from the page with the missing image.
    THANKS!
    HELP!

Removing the "#" character from the file name fixed the
    problem. Thanks!

  • Possible Bug in ID5.5 When Exporting Images to ePub

Just wanted to relate my experience with exporting images to ePub in InDesign CS5.5. I've already spent the better part of two weeks trying to find a resolution for the problem with Adobe's customer service techs in India. Nice guys, but so far not of much help.
Here's the problem. when exporting ID documents to ePub, and you're selecting your options in the "Image" export dialog box, you are offered two choices: "Fixed" and "Relative to Page." In theory, "Relative to Page" is the best choice because this means your images will be automatically scaled for the different viewing devices (i.e. iPad, Kindle, mobile phone, laptop). If you select "Relative to Page," however, your images will export with pixilation.
This may not happen to everyone, but it happened to me, as well as the last tech I spoke in India. I'm using a MacBook Pro running 10.6.7. Don't know what he was using, but he got the same results on his end when exporting an image to ePub using "Relative to Page." For me, the fonts look especially horrible in Adobe Editions. If you select "Fixed," they'll export just fine, (looked great in Adobe Editions and Kindle Previewer), but don't know how fixed size renders in the different devices.
This particular exchange was last Friday. The tech verified that we had a problem he couldn't solve and told me he had to speak with his "senior," who had already gone home for the weekend. I received an email today informing me that all I had to do was select the high quality performance settings in ID, and the image would look "pretty" while the file was open in the program. Really? I mean, duh. What does that have to do with the EXPORT problem?
And yes, I know to select the maximum quality setting in export. I'm a photographer who has used Photoshop since the 1990s. Used InDesign, QuarkXpress, and Pagemaker, in reverse order for that long as well, so I know how to prepare a file for print and the web. The techs I've spoken with have assured me I'm selecting the correct settings. Program has not only been uninstalled and reinstalled, but I went the extra drastic step of wiping my harddrive and starting over. No third-party plug-ins installed that didn't come with the original Adobe software. Have the latest ID update. The problem simply doesn't have a solution in my case.
Oh, well. As I say, nice guys, but this is my third time speaking with tech support about a problem with Adobe software. Not going to try again. IMHO, the customer service system/process could use some work.

As I said, it may not happen to everyone. Perhaps with a different operating platform or system version it may not happen. I was only reporting it because it happened to not just myself, but to the tech half a world away who shared my screen, saw the problem, and recreated it on his own machine/system.
Here are the selections in the ePub Export dialog box that caused the problem. I can't imagine that what is selected for TOC settings or other non-image settings would have to do with it, but here they are.
    1. File > Export > Choose ePub as Format
    2. In ePub dialog box: General Settings
    Include Document Metadata checked
ePub Cover, you can select Rasterize first page or Use Existing Image File, makes no difference
    Ordering, Based on Articles Panel
    Formatting Options: Leave as Default
    3. In ePub dialog box: Image
    Preserve Appearance from Layout checked
Resolution, doesn't matter what you select, all produces the same result
Everything in the first section below this is as default
Image Conversion: JPEG (I've been using JPEG, but also tried it with a TIFF, and even a Photoshop file, no difference)
    JPEG Options: Maximum, Progressive
Ignore Object Export Settings: I usually have this checked, but have tried it unchecked, and it made no difference
    4. In the ePub dialog box: Contents
    Format ePub Content: XHTML
Use InDesign TOC Style checked (I've tried the default, and my own TOC style, no difference)
CSS Options: I've tried Generate CSS and Use existing CSS template, never used Styles only. Made no difference
    5. Click OK.
If you need what I do from the beginning...
    1. New file: Print (not web, which tends to not honor the HTML tags on export). I typically chose 1024 x 768 because that's the screen resolution for an iPad.
    2. Command-D, place file. I've tried JPG, TIFF, even Photoshop files of varying resolutions from 72 to 300. Files sizes from 800x600 to 1024x768 to sizes approximately double this. No difference.
    3. Drag cover to Articles Panel and name.
    4. Layout rest of eBook, etc.
    5. Display performance settings while in ID are set to High Quality.
    6. Triple check for errors (always a green light before exporting).
These are ePub files that have validated, after fiddling with the CSS and XHTML file, as necessary, of course. I don't mess with any image coding.
    That's the steps!

  • I imported 635 images into an iPhoto album so that I can share them via a photo-stream. However, iPhoto says there are only 600. When I try to add the missing images it says they are already there. Why can i not see these images in iPhoto?

I imported 635 images into an iPhoto album so that I can share them via a photo-stream. However, iPhoto says there are only 600. When I try to add the missing images it says they are already there. Why can i not see these images in iPhoto?

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
    1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
    2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
    1. Right click images you want to share.
    2. Select Export version.
    3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
    4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
    See how you go.

  • IWeb site update problem-app missing images/files, but site is ok

I created and uploaded a web site to my .mac (yeah, MobileMe) and it displays just fine. I have visited it from a couple of different comps. The problem is that I want to add/update files/pages, but when I open iWeb, several of the images/audio files do not display: shows a x-through and a centered question mark. They are in the sites idisk folder and in the laptop's copy of the files. When I try to replace the missing images/files by dragging onto the iWeb drafting page the following message appears: "the file can't be used because you don't have access privileges, or because it contains no content or was corrupted."
I'm afraid to make any updates for fear of losing what is already published.
Extra info: have family pack and am switching between .mac accounts because iWeb published to the iDisk corresponding to the account/sub-account you are logged into (BIG pain in the ***! It should have a password protected account toggle like Panther used). I have double-checked that the files for this site are only in the one iDisk account (am redirecting my masked domain url to the .mac iDisk server-works great.
    Any ideas?

The upgrade from '06 to '08 which changed the domain.sites to a domain.sites2 caused more confusion, disasters and lost web sites than the bug ridden introduction of '09.
I ended up rebuilding all my sites from new, blank domain files in '08 and the conversion to '09 went OK apart from '09's nasty habit of changing media file links.
Fortunately, I have very little QuickTime content and don't use the iWeb Photos, Albums Blog or Podcast templates.
Most iWeb built sites look pretty awful when users stick to the default page width. I start from a Blank, Black or white page and trash everything on it.
I use the "standard" 980 px page width and most, if not all, of the iWeb themes do not adapt to this.
This is why I constantly ask the question. "Do the iWeb developers actually build any websites with the application?".
Perhaps if they did, we would get more bug free releases and some of the features that "real life" users are requesting.

  • Missing Images in WebHelp (RH6)

I have built a WebHelp guide of 130 topics. When I first
start to view it, all is well. I stepped through several topics in
the Browse sequence, all OK. I used the Search box and found a few
topics. Selected OK. Then select the Index tab, then Contents tab,
and then the problems start. ALL the larger images fail to appear.
The white space is there on the screen, but no pics, and these are
a mix of GIFs, animated GIFs and PNGs. Most of the smaller images
(say, smaller than about 150 x 250 px) appear OK.
(I am viewing these in IE7, running under Windows XP with all
latest updates; fast Pentium 4 + 1.5Gb RAM, hot 256Mb graphics
    card).
If I right-click on a missing image, and select Properties,
it shows the filename, but the file size reports "-1bytes".
On one occasion, I noted that the progress bar at the bottom
of the IE7 screen was stuck trying to load images, and some of the
    skin graphics ewre missing too.
If I close the WebHelp and load it again, everything works
OK. Until I repeat this sequence.
Has anybody got any ideas? This problem happened on another
computer, so it's not just this one.
    H-E-E-E-E-LP!!

    Hi Leon and Harvey,
Thank you for your observations and thoughts.
    1. Copying images: Investigation. Open a topic in RH and
click on an image in the WYSIWYG tab. Now switch to TrueCode view.
You can see highlighted the exact code that it will copy. Example:
    <img src="actions1.gif"
    x-maintain-ratio=TRUE
    style="border: none;
    width: 319px;
    height: 204px;
    float: none;
    border-style: none;
    border-style: none;"
    width=319
    height=204
    border=0>
--- (The code should be indented as in TrueCode view, but
this forum page does not support tabs or multiple spaces).
So, clicking on an image in WYSIWYG correctly picks up the
filename reference, aspect ratio, exact size, borders etc.
    - Copy and paste this text to NotePad, so you can refer back
    to it in a moment.
    - Now return to WYSIWYG, click on the image and use Ctrl_C
    copy.
    - Switch to another topic and Ctrl_V paste the image
    somewhere convenient.
    - Click on the image, and look at the TrueCode page.
The code has copied across exactly as on the original topic -
compare with the code in NotePad.
Now save the topic (you can delete the image later).
Next, select the Project tab, bottom left. Look in the Images
folder and find the image you just copied. Double-click to open the
Image Properties, and select the "Used In" tab. You can see the
image correctly registered in the two topics.
Conclusion: Copying and pasting images takes the exact code
from one topic and pastes it into another; so I do not understand
why there should be a problem; these are only HTML web pages, after
all - unless there's a bug in the RH background database
    interfacing?
    2. Resizing images: Although it is possible to drag the
corner of an image to resize it, I teach people not to do this, as
the image quality suffers badly, and it renders the image
unreadable sometimes. I resize in Paint Shop Pro if I must; but
prefer to take a cropped area of a real-scale screenshot if I can.
The RH Help Guide claims that RH supports PNG; and why not?
It's just an HTML web page. Something is deeply wrong somewhere if
this is happening... The mystery remains: is it just a PNG
    problem?

  • Missing images in Application Builder

I've updated ApplExpr from 2.2 to 3.0 and everything seems fine. However, I seem to be missing images. Situation:
Oracle 10gR1, using apache as db_2 and database as db_1.
When I access ApplExpr from an external machine such as my personal PC, I see everything fine when I go to edit a page in my application.
When I access ApplExpr from the server machine, and go to edit a page, I don't get the display for editing. Instead I see the "page, view, go" line and beneath that three "boxed" headings: Page Rendering, Page Processing and Shared Components.
My dad.conf is pointing at the correct image directory.
I'm not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?

  • Missing images in photo books

When I try the print or PDF preview of my photo book, there are several missing images or part missing images. Each time I preview the book different images appear to be corrupt or partly missing. They book appears to be fine in the viewer of Aperture. I do not want to send it off, until I can be sure that it will print properly. any suggestion?

    I found a work-around!!!
I've been using RAW images in the book, so when Aperture generates a PDF or book, it had to convert RAW to JPEG and some images didnt make the cut. Here's what to do: convert the RAW files to JPEG (original size) after you are done with your image editing and simply regenerate any incomplete pics, then drop the JPEGs into your book (Aperture actually seemed to remeber scale and position of the images when I dropped the JPEG on top of the RAW files in the book - very cool). Now generate your book/PDF and voila - no corrupted images! And book generation is a lot faster too since the conversion to JPEG is already done. The only downside is that you are using more space now for separate versions.
Pheewwww - my book's on order and cant wait to see the results.

  • Missing images in distributon email

I have created my form and distributed it through the Distribute Form. I sent the form to a couple of people in my department to test the form. In the email they receive, there appears to be missing images above and below the text I entered in the distribute form. The end user only sees the typical red outline with a small x in the corner indicating there should be an image. The email is sent via Lotus Notes email system.
How do I display the image and where is it generated from?

    Hi,
That is nothing to do with the form.
You are distributing the form via Acrobat.com - which is perfectly fine.
The red x is from the email client blocking the standard Acrobat.com header and footer:
Clicking the download pictures, which show the images:
Just note that these have nothing to do with the form itself.

  • Missing images in folders

Does anyone else have this issue:
Sporadically, a folder within my library will not display any of the images from that folder. Usually it happens during intense processor usage. For instance, when I geotagged 500 photos, the computer gave me the beachball then the images were missing from their folder. When I place my cursor over the folder with the missing photos, it still tells me how many versions there are, but no images actually show up in the browser. If I go to the main library folder, I can find all of the 'missing' images.
The only way I've been able to make the images visable in a folder is to create a new folder, then drag and drop all of the images from my main library into the new folder.
Is this a known problem and are there any fixes known as of yet?
    Thanks in advance!

You have probably moved the files outside of Lightroom. The images you see in LR are previews that were made before you moved the files.
Do a search for the files/folders using your computers operating system. (Explorer/Finder)
Once you have found them, you can point LR to the right location.

  • Missing images in Safari and Mail

Ever since upgrading to Lion earlier this year I have noticed a problem with images in Mail and Safari. I'm now on ML (10.8.2) and the problem persists. Hopefully someone can suggest a solution as it's slowly driving me a bit crazy.
In Mail, when I view an HTML email with images for the first time there is usually one image showing as missing/unloaded (little blue square with a question mark). Just one, and usually one near the top i.e. one of the first images on the page. If I refresh, e.g. view another email then instantly return to the first email, all the images are there. 'Display remote images in HTML messages' is ticked and always has been.
There is a similar problem in Safari. I load a webpage and there is usually at least one image missing/unloaded. Refreshing the page will fix the missing image. Sometimes it's the CSS file that doesn't load leaving an unformatted page, but it's more common with images. I looked in the 'Error Console' today and the error I get for the missing items is "Failed to load resource: The operation couldn’t be completed. Invalid argument".
After the problem started I switched to Chrome and never had the problem once, but I prefer Safari and would like to switch back. I presume the almost identical issue with Mail means that they are somehow linked.
Anyone have the same issue, or any ideas as to what might be causing it?

I think I've narrowed this down to the AVG Linkscanner. Turned it off and all images are present and correct.

  • Missing images in the Dreamweaver UI! How did that happen?

I tried reinstalling the app, and there are still missing images in the UI...

In my opinion, the deprecated Server Behaviors panel should NOT be used.   The code is woefully outdated, not secure and the MySQL connections will fail to work on many servers (PHP 5.5).
I think a much better use of your time would be to learn manual coding in PHP and MySQLi (improved).

  • Mobile app missing images only after packaging for App Store?

This is general, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problems, as it's happened to 2 different apps I recently posted to the app store.
Basically, the apps worked in the simulators fine, I intalled and tested on 10 different iphones, and it works fine. When I packaged up the app, and downloaded from the app store after approval there were various missing images. For example, 3 images on a page with 6 png would be missing. They weren't loaded any differently.
So I rechecked the app in flex simulators, worked fine, installed on phones, worked fine. I could not replicate problem anywhere. I randomly just resaved out a few images and that 'appears' to have worked. So when my next app was exhibiting the exact same behaviour, i 'resaved' out the broken images and a few were fixed, but a few are still broken.
This is just so strange, since I can't replicate the issue anywhere except after downloading from the app store.
    Anyone else having similar issues?
    thanks

Make sure your paths are *NIX compatible. Things like incorrect case or spaces in the file name will work just fine in the emulator, but fail on the device.
Are you saying the images work when installed on the device using a provisioning profile, but that very same app doesn't work when downloaded from the app store? If that's the case, the problem is probably in your build settings (IE. not including all the asset files, etc.)
