Missing plugin when emailing video

Hi
I tried to email a video i recorded in photobooth. However when mail opens i get a 'missing plugin' message in the mail instead of the video? I read elsewhere that this could be to do with Java preferences?
Anyone encountered this, and found a solution?

I had a problem opening tumblr so i reinstalled firefox and now whenever open a website it show a bar says additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page then i click on the button next to it that says install missing plugins and it says no suitable plugins are found please please please help me as soon as you can i love firefox but now using it is too hard .

Hi abudardaa, I can only think of one plugin that nearly every page requires...
Do you have the Flash player installed and enabled? You can test on Adobe's page here:

Could you also try Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
Any difference?

Why does it say missing plugin when i try to watch a video or play an online game

Download and install the latest flash plugin only from the adobe flash download page. I believe safari is disabling or removing older versions of the flash plugin.

You run Firefox 21 on Linux on a brand new HP laptop? Because various steps are specific to your operating system, could you verify that?
I do believe you most likely need the Flash Player plugin, which is known internally in Firefox as Shockwave Flash.
You can use Adobe's download site to get the installer. Make sure to uncheck any unwanted extras: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

No video when emailing video clip?

I took a video on my iPhone and want to email it to a friend. I did download it to my desktop iMac. Here are the things I've already tried.
1. I edited the clip in iPhoto and tried to email it from there, but that is not supported.
2. I then exported the clip to the desktop, drug the file to my email and it was completely blank (no video or sound).
3. I imported it into iMovie, trimmed the clip, finished the project & then shared it to the media browser. I opened a new email, added the file from the media browser, and I have sound and a still picture.
4. I've exported as a quicktime project and the clip plays in quicktime fine, but when I go to email it I have a still photo with sound.
Please, what am I doing wrong?

Still thinking about it Kristy - not sure of the solution yet.
As a test, I just dragged a movie clip from iTunes onto the Desktop. The clip was sent to me by my daughter and was taken on her iPhone 4. I dragged the clip into a new message in Mail and it plays perfectly.
So, I'm not sure what's happening with your system. What email program are you using (I'm on Apple Mail)? As the movie clip plays fine in QuickTime, possibly it's the email app that's causing the problem. Can you try using a different program?

Mozilla Firefox is not finding "missing plugins" when I know Adobe Reader is required for the site, specifically Blackboard for UT Austin. What is going on?

I have the latest version of Ubuntu on an Asus laptop (netbook) with an Intel® Atom™ CPU N450 @ 1.66GHz × 2. Firefox came with Ubuntu, but for some strange reason, when I go to blackboard to view something in PDF and I try to install the missing Adobe Reader plugin, Firefox says it "can't find any suitable plugins". What is going on?

Try opening your "package manager"/synaptic and search for "acroread"
Install it. Try again with firefox. Also try with cromium and opera.
One prof needed all three browsers on different sections of blackboard..nightmare.
So you know, blackboard sucks bad for linux...you have to do a lot of work to make it work correctly if your professor uses it poorly.
Try accessing the files like this:
- instead of going to the "courses" tab,
- choose "content collection" tab
- then open "course content" folder
- then you should see the list of documents
Also you may have to switch back and forth with cromium/opera

forgot to add, the "blackboard IM" does work if you install the package "wine". You have to use an older version of the IM than the current and don't use the upgrade nag unless you're a lucky sob.

Stationary images missing/segmented when email is forwarded

I used one of the Mail Stationaries to send an email. The email recipient was able to view the mail correctly with all the images/graphics, but when he forwarded the email, all the graphics/images in the email was either missing or segmented (a piece of the graphic is in one place in the email and another piece is in a different place in the email).
Is there a way to preserve the images/graphics in a stationary email when the email is forwarded multiple times?

this is a problem with the email client of your email recipient, not Mail. if it can not handle emails made using Mail stationery correctly (they are pretty complicated under the hood), there is nothing you can do about it. built in stationery is not customizable and you can not change its programming structure.

Missing sound when showing videos from iPad to Apple TV.

Error message when emailing videos?

I'm getting this error message everytime I email a video from my phone. Is anyone else recieving this message. Keep in mind I get it even after I have trimmed the video. It's really frustrating because I can never send out iPhone taken video clips.

There are well documented (in this forum) issues with sending videos via Yahoo mail. For example:

Web site keeps asking for missing plugins

I work for a well known German car manufacturer and on a regular basis have to complete e-training on their web site.
Now I have already done a platform test for mac and unfortunately failed because it is not comparable - however speaking with iT department they suggested I Run Fire fox. This actually allows me into web page but as soon as I start a course a window pops up saying missing plugins.
It then asks me do I want to locate missing plugins when I select yes it then pops up with another window suggesting there are no suggestions.
It then asks me if I'd like to do a manual search - unfortunately because I haven't got a clue which plugins I require I'm reluctant to download a system for example like Java. My mac 27" is fresh out the box how do I find missing plugins.
Our iT department has suggested changing my computer to a windows platform - which obviously not an option

Java and Flash are two very common plugins that no longer come pre-installed on Macs. Flash used to and I think believe Java did but I'm not 100% sure.

"Missing Plugin" in iPhoto/Email

I emailed a photo thru iPhoto (and CC'd myself) but when I try to view the email, I can't see the photo instead it says "missing plugin"... Help? Where do I find the needed plugin?

You'll probably not get an answer here, since this is the forum for the MacBook Pro hardware. I'd take the question to the iPhoto forum. You'll get a fast answer there. Also, search the forums for "missing iPhoto plugin". You might be surprised as to what you might find.

I am trying to download Adobe reader latest version and when I hit download a bar appears at the top of the screen telling me to install missing plugins but firefox states plugins up to date what can I do?

I am unable to download Adobe reader to update my system as I only have version 7 on my computer. Normally I would be able to download direct from Adobe and my system would update but when I try to download a message bar appears which states on the left hand side "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" and on the right hand side there is a button which states "install missing plugins". You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:

Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from

After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

I've been having problems with my internet timing out when I try to access pages & firefox says I may have an old version of adobe flash player which is unstable so I've been trying to install a new version. Try this simple fix... I just got it to work...
First visit [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html] download and run the flash player uninstaller.
After that I simply ran the standalone flash player installer to be found here... [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe]
This fix doesn't solve the auto-update issue in Firefox, but at least your Flash will hopefully work again in Firefox until a more permanent fix is made available from Mozilla...
