Missing table creation options in OEM10g
(1) Log in to OEM10G dbsonsole as system.
(2) Navigate to Administration then Tables.
(3) Click create to create a new table.
The OEM10G docs say there are four choices:
Standard
IOT
Clustered
External
But only standard and IOT are listed.
Is OEM10g missing functionality? Are the docs wrong? Was this functionality intended to be included in OEM10g but never implemented?
Does this mean that OEM10g does not provide the ability to create Clustered or External type tables?
Or is this a permissions problems in the log in?
Hello Bikas,
first of all - I don´t mind provide more details but most of this is very essential and covered in most tutorials which can you easily find all over the internet/ google/ sdn. I will describe it in detail, for this time, but you should start reading a bit...:))
1) place a text field on the form layout (from library)
2) click right mouse on it, choose wrap in subform, you´ll notice in the hierarchy tab in designer "untitled subform" appears as a parent of the text field. Note forms are xml based and the form elements hierarchy is very important.
3) subforms are used to group field together to help you format the layout of the form and to group fields (a group of fields is used as a table row in the following)
4) name the subform as a "row"
5) click on your new subform, go to Object - Subform tab, set content to Flowed here and Flow direction to Western text. This means the subform will rearrange its child elements from left to right with no spaces between.
6) if nothing happens, click on "row" subform (in herarchy tab for example) and go to Layout tab, next to Object tab and set auto-fit on true. If nothing happens with the layout in point 5, now it should happen.
7) click right mouse on "row" and select again wrap in subform
8) name this new subform as "table"
9) Object - Subform tab of "table" subform, set content flowed, direction top to bottom
10) now you´re ready to do the binding, check the tutorials how to do that or I would die at the keyboard:))

DW Tables Creation - Columns Missing
Hi All,
When i run the ETL for the execution plan containing tasks related to SCM, some tasks fail, predominantly of which are due to columns missing in the DW tables.
I dropped and recreated the DW tables ( Tools -> ETLMgmt -> Configure) but it didnt help.
I inspected the ctl file, oracle_bi_dw.ctl in ( \OracleBI\DAC\conf\sqlgen\ctl-file), which i believe is used to create the DW tables. The CTL file has definitions for all the tables needed but certain columns are missing, and due to this my ETL fails . I tried creating the columns manually after each ETL task failed.
I need guidance into how to recreate the tables or which configuration step to redo to get the correct CTL file used for the DW table creation.
Thanks,
RaghavHi All,
Re-installing BIApps did not work . I guess the ctl is created while you import the DAC metadata.
I copied the ctl file from a fellow developer. I dropped and created all the tables. All the DW table definitions referenced from the new ctl file are fine now.
Now i would always keep a backup of a proper ctl file to face such future problems :)
Thanks,
Raghav -
I've recently completed a database upgrade from 10.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.1 using the DBUA.
I've since encountered a slowdown when running a script which drops and recreates a series of ~250 tables. The script normally runs in around 19 seconds. After the upgrade, the script requires ~2 minutes to run.
By chance has anyone encountered something similar?
The problem may be related to the behavior of an "after CREATE on schema" trigger which grants select privileges to a role through the use of a dbms_job call; between 10g and the database that was upgraded from 10G to 11g. Currently researching this angle.
I will be using the following table creation DDL for this abbreviated test case:
create table ALLIANCE (
ALLIANCEID NUMBER(10) not null,
NAME VARCHAR2(40) not null,
CREATION_DATE DATE,
constraint PK_ALLIANCE primary key (ALLIANCEID)
using index
tablespace LIVE_INDEX
tablespace LIVE_DATA;When calling the above DDL, an "after CREATE on schema" trigger is fired which schedules a job to immediately run to grant select privilege to a role for the table which was just created:
create or replace
trigger select_grant
after CREATE on schema
declare
l_str varchar2(255);
l_job number;
begin
if ( ora_dict_obj_type = 'TABLE' ) then
l_str := 'execute immediate "grant select on ' ||
ora_dict_obj_name ||
' to select_role";';
dbms_job.submit( l_job, replace(l_str,'"','''') );
end if;
end;
{code}
Below I've included data on two separate test runs. The first is on the upgraded database and includes optimizer parameters and an abbreviated TKPROF. I've also, included the offending sys generate SQL which is not issued when the same test is run on a 10g environment that has been set up with a similar test case. The 10g test run's TKPROF is also included below.
The version of the database is 11.2.0.1.

Edited by: user8598842 on Mar 11, 2010 5:08 PMSo while this certainly isn't the most elegant of solutions, and most assuredly isn't in the realm of supported by Oracle...
I've used the DBMS_IJOB.DROP_USER_JOBS('username'); package to remove the 194558 orphaned job entries from the job$ table. Don't ask, I've no clue how they all got there; but I've prepared some evil looks to unleash upon certain developers tomorrow morning.
Not being able to reorganize the JOB$ table to free the now wasted ~67MB of space I've opted to create a new index on the JOB$ table to sidestep the full table scan.
CREATE INDEX SYS.JOB_F1_THIS_NEXT ON SYS.JOB$ (FIELD1, THIS_DATE, NEXT_DATE) TABLESPACE SYSTEM;The next option would be to try to find a way to grant the select privilege to the role without using the aforementioned "after CREATE on schema" trigger and dbms_job call. This method was adopted to cover situations in which a developer manually added a table directly to the database rather than using the provided scripts to recreate their test environment.
I assume that the following quote from the 11gR2 documentation is mistaken, and there is no such beast as "create or replace table" in 11g:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10592/statements_9003.htm#i2061306
"Dropping a table invalidates dependent objects and removes object privileges on the table. If you want to re-create the table, then you must regrant object privileges on the table, re-create the indexes, integrity constraints, and triggers for the table, and respecify its storage parameters. Truncating and replacing have none of these effects. Therefore, removing rows with the TRUNCATE statement or replacing the table with a *CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE* statement can be more efficient than dropping and re-creating a table." -
Bad file is not created during the external table creation.
Hello Experts,
I have created a script for external table in Oracle 10g DB. Everything is working fine except it does not create the bad file, But it creates the log file. I Cann't figure out what is the issue. Because my shell scripts is failing and the entire program is failing. I am attaching the table creation script and the shell script where it is refering and the error. Kindly let me know if something is missing. Thanks in advance

Failed to create DNS with ODBC Datadirect Driver - error missing or invalid option
Dear All,
I tried to post a first time and get my post thrown away. So please just tell me if that's not the place to post such questions. I tried this forum because I didn't find any revelant information yet on internet.
I installed Informatica and Oracle 11g, tried to create my DSN with the Driver DataDirect Oracle Wire Protocol. I keep bumping into the message " [Informatica][ODBC Oracle wire protocol driver][Oracle] ora-00922: missing or invalid option".
Can you please help to understand where the error comes from?
Here are my current status :
* My table in the Oracle database is created with every field followed by NOT NULL option, the table is successfully created.
* The connection to the Oracle database using Oracle TNSNames Connection server name and TNSNames files seem to work, I tried to connect with another driver Oracle in OraDB 11g_home1. This one succeeds.

IFS Install (Config) Fails with "ORA-00922: missing or invalid option"
Greetings:
Thanks for your help in advance...
Towards the end of IFS installation, I get the following error in my
IfsConfigOut.log file (This happens towards the end of the installation). I
am Installing IFS on Oracle 9i (9.0.1.1 version) instance on Win 2K (P-III,
800Mhz, 512Mb) . After this installation error, all the 9iFS directories
and nodes are detected under OEM but when I start the domain I get no
response for the same.

RakeshHi Rakesh,
First thing this is not an issue but an information that says that these indexes are not be created in the System.
This option Indexes not created is an SAP table maintained from Dev to Prod just to indicate that these indexes cannot be created.
That's the reason why u have a green mark beside them and this will make clear for you that this is not an issue.
Hope it helps!!!!

Hi SAP Gurus,
I noticed on our SAP business warehouse (BW) system (NetWeaver 7.0 based on AIX/Oracle 11g) in transaction DB02 => Diagnostics => Missing Tables and Indexes under Secondary indexes, 26 indexes, in package $tmp:
The indexes are defined, but they don't have been created on the database.
When I try to create them via the database tool, I am getting the warning:
Does the warning raise up, because they where defined in the $tmp package?
I was looking in SAP notes for a solution for this "warning" concerning the /BIC/F-Indexes but I didn't found yet anything helpful ...
Thanks for your help and ideas ...
Best regards
CarlosHi Carlos,
These are secondary indexes created during process chains in BI to improvise performance.
You may refer below SCN blogs on creation of these indices in BI.

Hope this helps.

Failed to connect to /@ Check the password in the user"s Creation Options
I am using the migration workbench to migrate to a new database. I was able to run this migration successfully to transfer the table data only. Now when I try to run this same configuration a second time to transfer over the indexes, I am getting this error. I am migrating from sybase, if it makes any difference. I have gone to the user Creation Options and retyped passwords to see if that helped, but it did not make a difference.
Does anyone have any ideas what is going on here?Hi there,
There is a bug here (Failed to connect when migrating schema objects) which will be fixed in the next release of the workbench in SQL Developer. -
Export Missing table on 11GR2 ?
I'm observing this mystery on our 11.2.0.1.0 system running under Solaris about mysterious missing tables that really exist on the database.
Here is the log of my session trying to export an existing table and export cant seem to find it .

Has anyone encounteed this on 11gR2
Thanks.Thanks . This seems to be a new parameter in 11gR2 . It just got me by surprise that Oracle set it to true by default changing the old behaviour . Inserting records is really not an option but there are modules in the system that does check these table's existence after an import restore. I'm going to be using expdp to get these tabs back. Anyway all seems well . Thanks to all who responded.Have a great day .

Hi guys,
I'm new to oracle (Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.4.0) and having difficulties creating a table using sqlnet:
CREATE TABLE t_PreReportData (
rd_ID int NOT NULL auto_increment,
rd_ReportID varchar(40) default '',
rd_SourceID varchar(40) default '',
rd_TargetID varchar(40) default '',
rd_SourceType int default '0',
rd_TargetType int default '0',
rd_Time integer default '0',
PRIMARY KEY (rd_ID)
it fails with
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00922: missing or invalid option
Any ideas?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
SteveFirst, AUTO_INCREMENT is not valid syntax in Oracle. If you want the primary key to be automatically assigned, you need to create a sequence and use a BEFORE INSERT trigger to populate the rd_ID column with the next sequence value.
Second, there is no benefit to declaring the default on a field to NULL. Oracle will use a NULL if your INSERT operation doesn't specify a value for that column.
