Mixed mode authentication issue SP2010

HI,
We are having a Intranet& Internet URL where the  Authenication is in mixed mode. everytime we try to open URL it asks me what type of authentication i have to use. Options comes as windows and form based authentications. attached
below page which is getting displayed.

Hi,
When mixed mode authentication is enabled, by default the web site would present us a sign in page with choice of authentication method when we try to access it.
However, we could create a custom log in page and check Custom Sign in page in the Authentication Providers of web application.
The link below provides detail information:

  • Custom Page for mixed mode authentication

    Hi,
Need help in developing a custom page for mixed mode authentication which also should have a provision for the end user to reset his password and also generate a password in case he has forgotten his password.
    Please help.

    Hi,
From your description, my understanding is that you want to customize a login page with password reset function.
You could create a custom login page by referring this article:
    SharePoint 2013 Custom Login Page.

Here is a solution that includes web parts for registering users, changing passwords and password recovery, please customize your page by referring to the code in the solution:

  • BAM Web Services and SQL Server mixed mode authentication

    Hi,
I have created and deployed a BAM definition with some BAM views in it but when Ihit the BAM Portal with IE all I see in the "My Views" pane on the left is an error message "Views or Activites may be missing because one or more database(s) could not be contacted.
Investigating the TraceLog tells me that:  Error    11007    Cannot determine the SID for the user.
I have changed the DBO accounts for all BAM databases to a Windows accounts as read in Tiho`s blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/tihot/archive/2006/06/13/630313.aspx), but I still get the Error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Do this
    1.  Remove the ID on which BAMappPool is running from the BAMPrimaryImport Database's users list
    2. Add that ID as the DB Owner of BAMPrimaryImport database in BAMPrimaryImport DB's properties
That's it.... restart BAMAppPool and/or SQL services if you want and you should not see that error again!!

  • MBSA 2.3 Reporting SQL 32-bt instance is running in mixed mode when it is set to Integrated

I have SQL Server 2008 R2 64-bit installed.  I just finished running MBSA 2.3 it is saying that the 32-bit instance is running in mixed mode.  I only have one instance installed (64-bit).  The 64-bit is set to Windows Authenticated.
How to I fix this finding?

    Hi,
    What is output of below
    SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('IsIntegratedSecurityOnly')
    GO
    EXEC MASTER.SYS.XP_LOGINCONFIG 'LOGIN MODE'
Did you restarted SQL Server service after changing Authentication mode

  • Dealing with Expired Certs in Mixed-Mode

I have done a fair amount of research on this topic and while I have deployed mixed-mode clusters, I haven't had a situation quite like the one I need to contend with in the next couple of weeks. I am trying to be as prepared as possible and am looking for feedback on some procedures I am drafting.
    The situation:
    (4) node cluster (clustering over the WAN)
TFTP is enabled on all nodes (that is going to change as a result of our assessment findings)
    Cluster is running in mixed-mode
Most certificates on the Publisher node are expired
    tomcat cert
    ipsec cert
    host-name ipsec-trust cert
    call manager cert (callmanager.pem)
    CAPF cert
    CAPF trust cert
One of the subscriber nodes is in the same boat as the Publisher node (they were deployed at the same time and were the first nodes in this cluster)
The other two nodes (in a DR datacenter) have valid certificates  (until 2016) except for the publisher node server cert (which has expired)
The publisher node and the subscriber node that has the expired certs were also installed without DNS being enabled (no domain and no DNS resolvers specified - therefore, I expect that DNS client was not enabled during install)
It is worth noting the following:
Customer enabled mixed-mode because one of the security folks got hot and heavy on encryption. However, they limited the scope to phones only. So, IP Phone to IP Phone == authenticated/encrypted. They have a Unity Connection system with secure ports and that is it. Gateways: no encryption. CCX, etc. == no encryption
During discovery we also found that LSC distribution is fubar. Only a percentage of the phones are using LSC. Likely due to a flaw in the provisioning process. That will be addressed later.
The version they are running is 6.1(3)  (base, no service releases)
The goal: Get the present solution into a VMware environment running CUCM 9.1(2). Planning on doing the Jump Upgrade procedure (interim hop to 6.1.4).
We found out about the certificate issues during our discovery phase. We have built in time to remediate the certificate issue.
The plan (well, thus far). I am still pulling together my notes and trying to come up with a way to test an implementation plan off line so that I can avoid bricking the phones (they are spread all over north america).
Here is the 10,000 foot view of the plan (obviously, the actually plan will be more detailed):
Use BAT to disable phone security and uninstall LSC
    Security Profile mod
    Certificate Ops
    Reset phones
    DRS Back up
    Download/backup current certs
    Configure DNS
    set DNS domain name
set DNS resolver (primary and secondary)
    Pub node:
    regenerate tomcat cert
    restart tomcat service
    regenerate ipsec.pem
    regenerate callmanager.pem
    regenerate capf.pem
    Sub node (repeat above)
?should we update the Subs not affected by the cert issue?
Run the CTL client and update CTL
    Reboot servers
    Pub then Subs
Phones will reset as a result of this process
The customer has said that they are actually fine with the idea of going back to square one and start over with provisioning a secured (mixed-mode) cluster after the 9.1 upgrade. That would be great except that if I uninstall LSCs, change phones to non-secure, and use CTL client to change back to standard-mode, I still have the CTLs left on the phones. No way to bulk delete them in UCM. I am considering using something like UnfiedFX to help me get back to square 1. Right now, I consider this a plan B. Unless feedback to this thread and other research suggests a different tact.
Thanks in advance for any assist.
    -Bill

    Hi William,
You have a quite a few requirements here. Just to clear things up, there are two type of certificates, first is called "certificate trust", and the other is called "Certificate".  For the trust certificates such as Callmanager_trust you can just click on the certificate, make sure that it is expired, and then delete it. this has no impact on the phones. The other type of certificate is called "Certs", you will need to regenerate those certificates, This will regenerate the certificate and also recreates the new "CAPF-trust" or "CallManager-trust" certificates with new date/time ranges.
Doing the above will not impact the phones are the services, however after regenerating the certificates, you will need to restart all the services related to this certificate, for example if you regenerate the tftp certificate, you will need to restart the tftp service on all the servers in the cluster. Same for the Callmanager and the Tomcat.
Please note that whenever you regenerate the Call manager certificate, you will need to run the CTL client with the same Token you used when the server was changed to mixed mode.
In General the below is the procedure to regenerate the certificate
    - log into the "Cisco Unified OS Administration" page of the publisher
    - choose Security>Certificate Management
    - click the link for the expiring certificate
    - click "Regenerate"
    - restart the service that uses the certificate
That will regenerate the certificate on the publisher. Within the next
10-15 minutes, the updated certificate will  be propagated
    to the subscribers.

as per updatedeployment.log it seems that you have targetted non mandatory deployment & it has reached to clients. to see sccm software update icon you need to login into console session (mstsc /console).

3). I install SQL in Windows Authentication Mode only and i provide User ****\SP_Farm, when Ever Installation Ask.
Note: during the whole process i only use SP_Farm (AD Admin User)
Every thing going working fine till my mistake. By mistake i delete account SP_Farm from AD and i re create it.

Creating a user with the same name is
    not the same user :-)
A user has a unique ID and you did not create the same ID, but a new user with same name.
after that i cant access Management Studio. :(
Please Guide if is there any other way.

  • Get data from Sharepoint site in different farm using webservice, and current site using claims mode authentication.

    Hi ,
I have a site that runs on   Claims Mode (  NTLM) . That site has a web part that needs to show the data from any  sharepoint farm, SharePoitn  2010 , or 2007 or 2003.
I am getting 401 unauthorized when I   try to get data from webservice running in sharePoint context.
But when I run the same code in  Windows Console application  then it is giving no error.
What I doubt is that this issue is due to the reason that I have  set
    claims mode authentication.
Because same code is running  in different farm in a site that is configured  using windows authentication.

So generally speaking, you're talking about a VERY long running topic of authentication methods... and generally speaking, in the world of Windows, the only long running authentication options have been:
    - NTLM (limited to one hop)
    - Kerberos (unlimited hops)
    - Application level authentication (ex: SQL auth, also, no hops)
Recently, Microsoft has been investing in Claims Based Auth... and I fully expect claims to start working their way into other systems (previously starting to work into Windows via the CardSpace technology, but also in other ways such as Win8's ability to
log in with a LiveID)... but building a new authentication method into ALL applications is a VERY long process, and the complexity of claims adds a LOT of consideration (claims from the same AD can look VERY different depending on the STS, so lots of questions
    around things like bridging claims).
So as far your SP auth needs...
IF both applications are CLAIMS AWARE, then you MAY be able to use claims (which support unlimited hops)... but that's just not very likely yet (and will probably take another 5-10 years to be available across the entire enterprise)... otherwise, KERBEROS
Outside of the Microsoft world... KERBEROS is open spec, so is supported by other systems (such as authenticating to linux)... claims based auth is also open spec, but again, still new... there are a few other options (LDAP, etc), but none that are native
to Windows (so you rely on things like third party auth modules for Windows, which Novell has done for DECADES with NDS and eDir)
And again, SharePoint can convert claims to Kerberos using the C2WTS... which MS uses internally for things Excel Services connecting to a backend SQL server... but it DOES require the Kerb and C2WTS configuration.
if you're having issues using Kerb auth... then it sounds like Kerb isn't configured correctly... and Kerb is a PAIN to configure (whitepaper for SP Kerb is ~100 pages long)... IIS (and SharePoint) also has the added benefit of failing over to NTLM if Kerb
fails (and you shouldn't disable this behavior, since it'll break other settings elsewhere)

  • BOEMembership Provider - Mixed mode

    Post Author: craibuc
    CA Forum: .NET
I need to support mixed mode (WinAD, Enterprise) authentication in my .Net application that connects to our BOE cluster.  I've been able to get Forms Authentication to work correctly, but I'm not sure how to correctly handle Windows AD SSO authentication with this Provider.  Do I need to use Forms Authentication, then somehow tell the provider to attempt WinAD authentication?  There is precious little information about this.
    Thanks,
    Craig Buchanan

    Hi !
Within Shared Services we configured several msad providers.
Sure we also have native users.
MDM only can authorize the native users although we uses mixed mode.
    thx 4 further advice

  • Mixed mode vs Zenworks integration

In the docs for version 7.0.3, "Using Zenworks with Novell Service Desk", "Importing the Zenworks user source to Novell Service Desk" it is said:
Mix Mode: Ensure No is enabled. Internal Authentication is not supported by ZENworks.
I wonder if someone could elaborate on that. I understand that I cannot perform Zenworks remote control or bundle management on customers who do not exist in the Zenworks LDAP user source, but is there a reason why I can't have such customers in Service Desk at all?

As you mentioned Remote Management and Bundle Assignment feature will not work for Internal Customer. Remote Management may work if you create proper relationships between internal customer with ZENworks hardware but it is not guaranteed.

  • Mixed mode, sharing ?

    Hi All
I have 2 machines running RHEL 4.5, one is 64 bit, one is 32 bit VM. The have the same JDK installed on them, but when I issue the command:
"java -version" I get a little different result:
    On the 64-bit Linux:
    java version "1.5.0_16"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_16-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.5.0_16-b02, mixed mode)
    On the 32-bit Linux:
    java version "1.5.0_16"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_16-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_16-b02, mixed mode, sharing)
Almost the same, except for on the 32-bit, there is a "sharing" parameter that shows up.
I'm trying to track down a weird application error that I'm getting, and other than the obvious 32/64 bit thing, the app is exactly the same
on both servers. Just wondering if this "sharing" thing might be responsible, but not being very Java-oriented, I have no answer.
    TIA
    Rick

Thanks for the info - just what I needed. As far as enlightening you, I'm afraid there really isn't anything I can do. I guess I kind of misspoke
when I said I was trying to track down an application error - it's more application behavior than anything. There are no actual errors
being thrown in any of the app logfiles, it's more of an application feature that isn't being consistent. Basically, it's a training application where student progress is tracked properly on the 32 bit machine, but not on the 64 bit. Sorry for the confusion...

  • Mixed mode is slow!

I purchased a WRT150N.  Works great wired, with no issues. But I have a laptop that is G and a gaming adapter that is N.  I tried to use Mixed mode on the router so I could use both G and N. However, when in mixed mode the laptop connects at only 1Mbps even right next to the router at excellent signal.  When I turn it to G-only mode it works at 54Mbps with the same settings. I would really like to use both N and G adapters. WHat is going on?

Mixed mode is fine. Set your laptop's transmit rate to 54 mbps instead of auto. If you wanna use N speeds on your N device, you have to have WPA2 aes.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Wpa2 security vs. wpa2/wpa mixed mode

What's the advantage of using the "wpa2/wpa mixed mode" security setting vs. wpa2? Is the mixed mode setting as security as the wpa2 only setting?
    Thanks

WPA2 is the next generation of Wi-Fi security. It is the Wi-Fi Alliance's interoperable implementation of the ratified IEEE 802.11i standard. It implements the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recommended Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption algorithm using Counter Mode with Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code Protocol (CCMP). WPA2 facilitates government FIPS 140-2 compliance, and it is fully supported by the Cisco Wireless Security Suite..
WPA and WPA2 mixed mode operation permits the coexistence of WPA and WPA2 clients on a common SSID. WPA and WPA2 mixed mode is a Wi-Fi certified feature. During WPA and WPA2 mixed mode, the Access Point (AP) advertises the encryption ciphers (TKIP, CCMP, other) that are available for use. The client selects the encryption cipher it would like to use and the selected encryption cipher is used for encryption between the client and AP once it is selected by the client.
