Mobile ERPs

In the recent years, with the expansion of mobile technology, wireless applications provide new opportunities for business organizations, enabling access to relevant information from anywhere and at anytime. In order to benefit from the features of ubiquitous environment, core information systems like ERP systems have to support the mobile behavior of their users.
I, as a postgraduate student of City University (London), am carrying out a research on Mobile Extensions to ERP Systems. <b>I would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes answering the online questionaire</b> published by me on the following link:
http://vega.soi.city.ac.uk/~abbz635/q1.php
Thank you!
(The interface is very simple as it has been implemented manually and only for the purpose of the present research)

@ Bala Aluru: Thank you! Your answers are very useful for my research.
@ NXO: My research is more qualitative than quantitative. My conclusions are to be related to the feasibility and usability of mobile extensions. I could have asked what you suggested and even other questions related to the expansion of mobile ERPs. However I tried to keep the questionnaire as short as possible so as to increase the probabilities that someone answers it.

  • What Mobile Sales solution for ERP 6.0 ?

    Hi colleagues,
I have serious difficulty to understand what is the SAP offering for Mobile Sales solutions for SPA ERP 6.0. SAP is vague and just say there IS solution for R/3 (?).
My questions are in two directions:
    1. About the "preconfigured" Mobile Sales offerings or xApps or whatever it is:
        - can we use SAP MSR 2.0 with ERP 6? If yes- are still the limitations described in Note OSS 735727 valid (use only with Microsoft PocketPC2003, PocketPC2003 SE and Win32 )
        - can we use  xMSA HH with ERP? If not - what this document refers for? : ( https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f635d890-0201-0010-d8b2-8380c23456ed )
    2. About the "Online" solutions
       -  Could the ERP Internet Sales be used with Handheld?
       - and if yes what are the pros and cons against using custom WebDynpro or ITS?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Jordan

    Dear Jordan,
If I am not wrong you are talking about internet sales for R/3 when you say ERP internet sales, which is probably outdated by now. Nowadays SAP distributes something called as mySAP Business Suite which in brief is as follows:
    mySAP Business Suite :
    CRM - Customer Relationship Management
    ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning
    SCM - Supply Chain Management
    SRM - Supplier Relationship Management
    PLM - Product Lifecycle Management
    SAP Netweaver
    Solution Manager
The current Mobile Sales solutions need mySAP CRM. Some of your questions about the xApp Mobile Sales for Hand Held are already answered in this wiki:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/home/xmsaHandheldClient
Also you can get the installation guide, release notes from here in SMP:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000668453&
About MSA HH 5.0  Device requirement- Yes you need to use Windows Mobile PDAs with Pocket PC 2003/ Windows Mobile5.0, Windows Mobile 6.0 OS.
There is another application, Mobile Sales Online, which can work with Blackberry Devices, technical information regarding which can be got from SMP here:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000614083&
The info is a bit vague but once you are through with them, you will have the clarity you need. Please mark this thread as answered and my post as solved if my post answers your queries.
    Regards,
    Veera
Edit: You may also get in touch with your local SAP contact to get the contact info of the product team/manager of both the products above for the best clarity possible.

  • SAP Mobile Sales 2.0 delta load issue for Sales Orders

    Hello,
we have used Mobile Sales 2.0 with a Windows app for a while now. Our current issue is that sales reps won't see any historical sales order data on their devices.
    Background
Due customer requirements, we need to make small changes to customer master data attributes and reload all customers from ERP to CRM. Then we ran delta loads (MAS_PARTNER followed by all other objects) to DOE, in which virtually all 5000+ customer accounts were compared. The delta load ran for about 3 days (some performance bottleneck we haven't located yet).
During the delta load, data on devices was inconsistent. Accounts were missing and all transaction data disappeared. After the delta loads, all accounts and contacts are OK, save for a few. Data from activities (appointments, tasks) have reappeared, as they should. Only sales orders won't reappear. The sales orders exist in the backend and belong to active accounts and sales reps.
    Settings and troubleshooting so far
We don't have any limitations for sales orders in CRM Sales Mobile configuration.
We've run delta loads for all objects in transaction SDOE_LOAD.
    MAS_CUSTOMIZATION etc seem fine.
We've re-run initial load for sales orders from CRM.
In the test system, we've even reinitialized the whole CDS database on DOE and on the devices, then re-ran the loads.
    Checked steps suggested in discussion
SAP CRM 2.0 initial load issue
Historical sales orders (those created before the master data reload) exist in the backend, but don't show up on the device.
If I change one of those historical sales orders in the backend, it gets sent to the device.
If I create a new sales order in the backend or on the device, it is saved and replicated just fine.
To sum it up, it seems DOE is unable to identify the sales orders relevant for replication.

First Doubt i got clarify by my self as we can go with Unwired Runtime option .
But i still have doubt in :
    2. How can i Modifying the Main Menu for iOS.
i am able to customize the same for windows using files SybaseCRM.Configuration.xml file.
Same how can i do for iphone/ipad.

  • Is Mobile 2007 Stock Management Service Compatibile with R/3 4.7

Can any one tell me if I can implement Mobile Service - Service Parts management - Van stock with R/3 47 back-end
Installation guide says ERP 6.0 as a landscape requirements..
    I have few questions
Can Ii implement CRM Mobile 2007 Service Module including the Vanstock with a R/3 47 Back-end
If I can what is the plug-in I use to integrate the Mobile database to CDB and to R/3
    Any help will be rewarded.
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
For using Vanstock scenrios on the mobile service application, SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP Netweaver Mobile 7.1 are the minimum requirements.
It cannot be implemented for any release lower than these because these functionalities/APIs are available from the mentioned releases.

  • Calling a Web Service from Mobile - UI options

    Hi Team,
I have a scenario where the backend SAP functionality is exposed as a web service and we need to call it online from a mobile handheld device (Symbol with Pocket PC client 2003, IE browser 4.0). Is it possible to call this web service from the handheld? Do we have to write the web service call on the J2EE stack using NetWeaver developer studio?
Also, what UI technology is recommended for showing the data from the web service call. The idea is to get some user input on the handheld, and then post a transaction via the web service on SAP. I discussed with some of my colleagues and they recommend to use JSP/Servlets for this. Does anybody has a better idea, (the JSP/Servlets does not seem correct). Should we use native XSLT or something else.
Please note that the Mobile Web Dynpro has limitations on the UI side and the "onEnter", "setFocus" does not work, specifically on the netweaver 2004s release. The backend ERP system we have is 2004s and I'm trying to make a web service call from a NW 2004 client.
Any ideas or pointers will be appreciated and points awarded. Thanks for your time.

    Hi Sanjay!
Yes, To call a WebService you will have to write your Own Application using NWDS.I donot have any specific recommendation for the UI Technology to be used.
Usage of "OnEnter" and "SetFocus" with NW2004s has certain limitations below.
"OnEnter" is not a supported feature as of now especially for WD applications on Handheld Devices.
"SetFocus" will work on IE6.0 Standard Desktop Browser with WAS7.0 SP06 and i believe it will work in hand held devices if your using WAS7.0(NW2004s)SP8 and you are using the latest Symbol Device that has Windows Mobile 5.0 OR Windows CE.NET 5.0.I understand that there could be some limitations with the OS and the IE you are currently running in the device.
    Let me know your views.
    Thank You

  • Interaction Center Sales with ERP Sales Order

We are in the process of upgrading from CRM 4.0 sp 6 to CRM 2007.  We have been using the Web IC and Mobile sales for the last 4 years.  In our original CRM 4.0 implementation (which was developed by SAP) we were using the CRM Web IC to create orders with R/3 using a couple of BADI's.  We are currently using R/3 4.7 and have plans to upgrade to ECC 6.0 next year.  I was just rereading some of the documentation in the upgrade guide and came across the following line:
"The following software units are required for the Interaction Center Sales with ERP Sales Order scenario:
Mandatory:  IC WebClient with specific ERP Sales order viewset requires SAP ECC 6.0"
This implies that the standard Interaction Center Sales with ERP Sales Order functionality will not work in our current landscape and that it would only do so when we upgrade to ECC.  What options are open to us to get around this?  What is the technical reason why this functionality doesn't work with SAP R/3 4.7?
I can't imagine we are the first company to face this problem and I can't imagine everyone upgraded to ECC 6 - so what approaches have people taken to address this issue
    Thanks in advance
    Eddie

In the last 12 months we upgraded from 4.0 to 5.0 in CRM and went form 46C to ECC 6.0.
In your current landscape you can create orders in the ICWC where the order is created in CRM and replicates to R/3 4.7.     You have the replication scenarios X, Y, Z available to you.
Your other option is using the ICWC R/3 order screen where you basically are calling R/3 transaction VA01 and entering the order in the ICWC but the order entry in being done directly into R/3 via your ITS server.  Looks almost exactly like VA01 in the gui.  The menu bars are a little different.
The ERP order looks like other ICWC screens,  is very sharp and users wouldn't know that they are entering the order directly in ECC.  We have been using it about 3 months.  More Pro's than Con's, if you have user exits in MV45AFZ* the ERP order still uses them  (but t-code isn't VA01 if you have condition If statements around t-codes).
    Hope this helps,

The J222 Application Server was not running due to password mismatches in SQL.
Turns out the SQL user passwords for SAPERPDB and ERP were incorrect. Changed them back to defualt values, and then J2EE App Server started up and portla pages appear.

  • SAP ERP == XI == SAP POS (Customer Data Maintenance)

    Dear Friends,
We are doing the scenario SAP ERP ==> XI ==> SAP POS. This is IDoc to File scenario. The file is picked from FTP site by receiver(where the Triversity server pick ascii files).
Here problem is after picking the file, data is not inserted, updated, deleted in the Customer Profile table of Triversity Store Manager. (We follow the Technical Reference Guide for creating files).
    Regards,
    Jagan.

    HI experts ,
After integration of SAP retail and SAP POS, we are receiving file from PI for e.g DEPTTXN.asc (below) ,
As according to DEPTTXN.ASC file format update type ,department, department group ,description should be of Decimal 2.0,decimal4.0, decimal 3.0 and string 20 respectively,
But we are receiving data in below mentioned  format ,because of that when we are posting this file to Xpress sever-> parm folder to view its data in Store manager we are not
able see all the details of DEPTTXN.asc ,only  price point details with the linked category and department are shown there. We are facing same difficulties with other two files also.
Do we have to do some  modification in PI for the naming of department and department group?
It will be great help ,if you can  guide us to solve this particular issue.

  • Fiori Applications ERP 6.0 EHP 5.0 Compatibility

    Hellllllllo SAP Mobile World !!!!
I am attempting to implement Fiori Applications from scratch.  I have gone through all Installation Guides.
We are currently running SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 5.0 via NW 7.02 SP09.
I have a little confusion about the Fiori App to ERP version compatibility.
I have three examples illustrating my confusion and could use a answer to each point if possible.
    Point 01)
We wish to use implement “App Implementation: Approve Purchase Orders”.
Looking at “SAP Fiori principal apps for SAP ERP 1.0” from http://help.sap.com/saphelp_fiorierpx1_100/helpdata/en/57/7f3c52c638b610e10000000a44176d/content.htm?frameset=/en/94/813c52c638b610e10000000a44176d/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/c1/567952d690214fe10000000a445394/plain.htm&node_id=74.
“SAP Fiori Apps for SAP ERP”--> “Approve Purchase Orders”
The “Back-End Components Delivered with (Product VersionStack)” under “System Landscape Requirements” lists our implementation “SAP enhancement package 5 of SAP ERP 6.0 SPS03 or higher”.  I assume this means that “App Implementation: Approve Purchase Orders” is compatible with our version.
Once I go into “App Implementation: Approve Purchase Orders”  I see “SAP enhancement package 5 of SAP ERP 6.0 SPS03 or higher” for “Back-End Components Delivered with (Product Version Stack)”
This leads me to believe that “App Implementation: Approve Purchase Orders” is supported by my installation.
Am I correct and if not why?
    Point 02)
We wish to use implement “App Implementation: Change Sales Orders”.
Looking at “SAP Fiori principal apps for SAP ERP 1.0” from http://help.sap.com/saphelp_fiorierpx1_100/helpdata/en/bf/67565214c31357e10000000a445394/content.htm?frameset=/en/7d/145652f9c21457e10000000a445394/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/c1/567952d690214fe10000000a445394/plain.htm&node_id=85&show_children=false.
“SAP Fiori Apps for SAP ERP” --> “Change Sales Orders”
The “Back-End Components Delivered with (Product Version Stack)” under “System Landscape Requirements” lists our implementation “SAP
enhancement package 5 of SAP ERP 6.0 SPS03 or higher”.  I assume this means that “App Implementation: Change Sales Orders” is compatible with our version.
Once I go into “App Implementation: Change Sales Orders” I see “1942983” for “Back-End/Front-End Server”
It describes notes for “EHP7 FOR SAP ERP6.0”.  This leads me to believe that “App Implementation: Change Sales Orders” is supported by my installation, but if we happened to upgrade to EHP 7 then this note will need to be implemented.
Am I correct and if not why?
    Point 03)
    We wish to
    use implement “App Implementation: Equipment”.
Looking at “SAP Fiori Apps” from http://help.sap.com/fiori_bs2013/helpdata/en/73/c9e452a413b267e10000000a441470/content.htm?frameset=/en/9a/385452928bd030e10000000a44538d/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/ba/954353a531e647e10000000a441470/plain.htm&node_id=338.
“SAP Fiori Apps” --> “SAP Fiori Apps for SAP ERP” --> “Apps for Logistics” --> “Plant Maintenance (PM)” -->“Equipment”
The “Back-End Components Delivered with (Product Version Stack)” under “System Landscape Requirements” lists our implementation “SAP
enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0 SPS 05”. I assume this means that “App Implementation: Equipment” is NOT compatible with our version.
Am I correct?  Are there any SAP Notes that can be implemented to circumvent such limitations if they exist?

Thanks for the helpful answers.  You all have sent me on the correct path for further investigation.  As a result I have a few more questions.  I apologize for what might seem "stupid questions".
    01) Is it true that the Front-End Server must run on either SAP NetWeaver 7.00. 7.01, 7.02, or 7.31?
    02) Is the Front-End installation of NW a full installation and not one for say a NW Application Server that doesn't have a underlying database?
    03) Development of custom applications take place on the Front-End Server?  If so I guess question 02 is unnecessary.
    04) I trying confirm my understanding of the prerequisites for “App Implementation: Track Purchase Order” @ http://help.sap.com/fiori_bs2013/helpdata/en/01/b13a522fecb610e10000000a44176d/content.htm?frameset=/en/ba/954353a531e647e10000000a441470/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/ba/954353a531e647e10000000a441470/plain.htm&node_id=163
The “Back-End Components Delivered with (Product Version Stack)” lists “SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 5.0” so I am assuming this app is compatible with our Fiori landscape once the Front-End running on NW 7.31 is installed.  We are currently running SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 5.0 based on NW 7.02 SP09.  Is my assumption correct?
    05) I trying confirm my understanding of the prerequisites for “App Implementation: Approve Service Entry Sheets” @ http://help.sap.com/fiori_bs2013/helpdata/en/64/1a96523ef7224fe10000000a445394/content.htm?frameset=/en/0a/5991527b149f11e10000000a441470/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/ba/954353a531e647e10000000a441470/plain.htm&node_id=183
”Back-End Components Delivered with (Product Version Stack)” lists “SAP enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0 SPS 05”.  Does this truly mean that the backend system must have EHP 7 for ERP 6.0?
Thanks so much for the help!

  • ESS with SAP ERP 2004 ECC 5.0

    Hello,
with SAP R/3 we used the Employee Self Services via an external ITS. Now we are using SAP ERP 2004 ECC 5.0 with an installed Java AddIn without Enterprise Portal.
    My Question is:
What ways are possible, so that we can use the ESS functionality?
    My Ideas are:
    1. Use the old external ITS and connect it to the new system.
    Problem: Is the connection possible?
    or
    2. Use the existing services from the internal ITS.
Problem: It seems that some are not working - is it possible to activate them?
    or
    3. Use the WebDynpro-Technology without Enterprise Portal.
    Problem: Will it work?
All information I could find, is, that none of the mentioned ways will work, but maybe someone tried to do the same and was successful.
    Thanks for ideas,
    André

    Hello Andre,
I don't have experience with using ESS web dynpro applications standalone without EP but I believe that should work just fine. We use standalone web dynpro applications for our mobile ISR/PCR approvals where we access web dynpro application directly via Blackberry. You should be able to access any web dynpro application directly without EP iView - for certain services you will need to provide the correct attributes and values via URL though.
Hope that helps you a little bit,
    Harald

  • SAP Netweaver Mobile 7.1 POC

    Hi all
I am trying to build a proof of concept box (pc cube or laptop) to run in VMWARE for demonstration purposes only.
I am planning to install the following:
    + Solution Manager 4.0
    + ERP 2004 : ECC 5.0
    + Netweaver 7.0 Stack
    + Netweaver Mobile 7.1
    + xMAM 3.0
I still need to do full a sizing investigation, but I need to know the following before I start:
+ Can the ERP and the Netweaver stack be installed in the same VM
+ What version of VMWARE is best for the task?
+ Can I use VMWARE Workstation or Server?
+ RAM allocation for the VM (rough guide)
+ HDD requirements for the VM (rough guide)
    Ta... J

    Hi,
SAP Netweaver mobile 7.1 is using the same DVDs as SAP Netweaver PI 7.1. Only difference is that you choose the option for Mobile System when starting the installation in SAPinst.
Everything is included in the installation and no separate installation is required.

we have a requirement to update records to R/3 system from an android platform mobile device PI as middle ware and need to get back response whether the records are updated successfully or not from R/3 to mobile. Synchronous Mobile to R/3 Interface.
so can you pls give some inputs how can I achieve this requirement. Thanks in Adv..

    Hi,
    >>>here I need to create 2 interfaces? 1 for validating the credentials and 2nd is for updating the data? could you please give inputs how to achieve this requirement.. Thanks..
so in your case I'd not use PI for this task - better to connect directly to SAP backend
    a) write an RFC which will do the things you need - you need only one - as you can ust authentication to the WS which will check if the user/pass is ok) so you only need one for updating the data
    b) you can expose this RFC as a WS from ERP (from SE37) and use this WS inside your mobile app
    >>>I am using PI7.0 so I cant use ICO (integrated configuration). I ll elaborate my requirement..
so don't use PI for this task - do as I mentioned above
    >>>and big thanks for releasing SAP and PI related books which helps a lot for learners. I am one of them.
    thanks

  • Connecting Mobile Devices to XI

I'm trying to find the best way to provide some functionality to allow mobile devices to make some simple enquiries and execute some simple processes via XI to an SAP ERP system. Some of the scenarios may be:
    Product Availability Check
    Product Ordering
    Delivery Status
Does anybody have some recommendations for the technologies to use? Is SAP MI a good (interpret as rapid and reliable) development platform for such applications?
I have also seen that the J2ME platform could be used.
Has anybody some real-life exprience and recommendations?
    Kind Regards,
    Tony.
