MobileMe toolbar in Safari

My work Mac running Safari 4.0.4 (Leopard 10.6.2) is having issues displaying the MobileMe toolbar. My two home Macs, both running Snow Leopard 10.6.1 do not have this issue.
All the icons in the upper-left hand corner are not visible, except for the date within the calendar icon, when I am in Mail. This also happens when I am in Contacts. However, in the other tabs (Photos, iDisk and Settings), the icons are properly displayed.
In cases where the icons are not visible, I can still use them as I can "see" them by hovering and clicking on where they should be.
I've emptied my browser's cache, performed a full reset, but nothing seems to work. Should I try clearing certain files/folders in my ~/Library/Preferences directory?

HI Patrick,
Go to Safari / Preferences. Make note of your preferences under each tab then Quit Safari.
Then locate this file and move it to the Desktop.
com.apple.safari.plist
~/Library/Preferences (Where ~ is your Home Folder)
Launch Safari and see if the MobileMe toolbar icons are functioning. If they are... move that .plist file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
Might be 3rd party plugins causing the problem. Go to ~/Library/Internet Plugins. Move any 3rd party plugins to the Trash and restart your Mac.
Also, if you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Quit Safari then relaunch.
While you have the Get Info window open for Safari, make sure it's not running in Rosetta.

  • How do I enlarge the text in the toolbar of Safari 5. I need to be able to see the bookmarks that I've placed there. Also I would really like to be able to enlarge the icon size in the Safari toolbar too.

I am hunting for help in being able to see the text in the toolbar on Safari... also, it would be helpful, too, if I could even enlarge the icons there. I'm dealing with a vision problem and finding that it's quite frustrating when I discover I've clicked on the wrong thing or I can't find what I want to click on up there. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

    Hi Dorothy,
Took me awhile to get on a Mac that has Safari 5 on it, (I hate Safari past 3.x, so never update or use it).
Anyway, I see no options for that at all, though I think it was rumored that 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 would have it!
I think your only options are to use the Zoom in Key Combo of CMD & +, or if you don't have a numeric Keypad then CMD+Shift+equal sign, or in System Preferences>Universal Access>Seeing tab, turn Zoom on, then Option+CMD+= will Zoom it in, Option+CMS+minus sign zooms out again.
There may be some 3rd party system hacks around the text part, but they usually cause problems sooner or later.

  • When I try to customize the toolbar in Safari, it does it temporarily, but if I quit Safari and reopen it, it goes right back to the old toolbar.  Any ideas?

When I customize the toolbar in Safari, it only shows the changes temporarily.  If I quit Safari and reopen it, the toolbar reverts back to how it was before.  Any ideas?

Check System Preferences. Look at the bottom of the pane. Do you see Evernote?
I just installed it so I could find it.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the lIbrary folder then the Internet Plug-Ins folder.
Move the Evernote.plugin to the Trash. Restart your Mac. Try Safari.

  • Uninstalling  BTjunkie toolbar  in Safari

    Hi,
i wonder if there is a way to uninstall BTjunkie toolbar in Safari. Their website only has solutions for IE and FIrefox, and nothing for Safari on the Mac.
I thought reinstalling Safari would do it, but it didn't for me.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
After getting very frustrated at trying to get rid of this toolbar, I have found out how to do it.
Go to System/Library/InputManagers and delete CT Loader
It took me a about half an hour to find this! I hope it helps to save annoyance in the future.

  • My toolbar in safari  keeps disappearing

my toolbar in safari disappears continually.  sometimes it pops up and then disappears again.
    Does anyone have a solution?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

After installing the MacKeeper (now uninstalled) in my MacBook Pro (version 10.7.5) got some features such as toolbar, mail, safari and other in English (use in Portuguese - Brazil).
I've already set the System and Preferences> Language & Text, for use in Portuguese, but still does not work.

Very strange problem (no surprise to you).
I suggest you reset the SMC (and PRAM, if you are able). That cannot hurt and might help.

No no, if you read what I said, it would be that each individual display would be customizable to the user. The way you have it, it sounds like your second display will be dedicated to scrolling through fullscreen apps not allowing you to do it on the home screen. This is silly because with my concept, you could do that, by dragging apps to fullscreen in your second display, but if you want you could tell another display to scroll through fullscreen apps (independently) if you wanted. Each display will have it's own mission control with it's own set of desktops. I also can see how some people would still want them linked together, so this could just be a little check box made in mission control prefs to "link" or "unlink" desktops with link checked by default.
With your solution you're limited to your setup. but what if the person has three or four displays? Well then your solution would limit them to one dedicated display that scrolls through fullscreen apps where mine lets a person customize their desktops depending on their preference and setup.
further example: if you have safari, address book and mail in one display, you could still have ichat, PS and Illustrator in your second, and a text editor, FTP Client and iTunes in your third. Then you would mix and match these apps but it would promote the use of mulitple displays as well as benefit people with three or more, which thunderbolt, Cinema Display and Pro computers support.

  • No MobileMe access using Safari ?

    The problem:
I've setup my MobilMe account on my iPod Touch. Everything works fine my mail, contacts etc are in sync, I can us the iDisk app and log inn. However when I try to go to MobileMe using Safari I keep getting to these set-up instructions, but I am never directed to my log-in page in Safari.
(I'd like to use MobileMe-mail using Safari when I am abroad and have no smtp-server from my Internet provider available.)
Am I doing something wrong or is this meant to be ?
    Thanks
    Ben

You cannot access MobileMe from Safari on your iPod Touch. However, that should not affect your mail using the Mail app. My Mobile Me mail account (set up using the defaults) uses smtp.me.com for outgoing mail, not my ISP's smtp server.
