Model Satellite S55D-A5366 freeze a lot since I bought it.

The problem started since the first day I had it. It freezes a lot and some times only reboot by itself I don´t think that is for a software that I have installed becouse it has that problem since the first day. Please what can I do to fix this I read that the problem is with the drivers updates and windows 8.1 but I don´t know what to do?.

If a new computer freez's from day one I would take it back for refund or replacement. You normally have 14 days to return.
If its from 8.1 update - see this Toshiba article on updateing W8 to W8.1 - http://support.toshiba.com/sscontent?contentId=4003162
There are items that need uninstalled before the update then reinstalled after the update. If you cannot correct your software issues you may have to refresh your computer back to windows 8 and follow the instructions to update.

  • Satellite S55D-A5366 constantly freezing

I got my laptop for Christmas a month ago, and from the day i got it, I've been having problems with the laptop freezing.  It is on windows 8.
When frozen, I can hit the windows key and it will pull up the Apps tab of windows 8, but when I ctrl+alt+delete, it only goes to a black screen that i can't get out of and am forced to shut down.
I thought this may be in reaction to a program I downloaded, so I restored my laptop back to factory settings.  The only programs I had installed are World of Warcraft and Steam ( and a couple games installed through steam: Half Life 2, Garry's Mod, Portal 2, and Counter Strike: Source) and about 30  minutes after the reset, I got the freezing again.
    What can I do?

your computer is new and still under warranty.  take advantage of it and contact Toshiba Support to resolve your issue.

  • Brand new Satellite S55D-A5383 freezing/crashing issue

I just bought this laptop on Black Friday and it arrived earlier this week.  After inital setup on Monday, I used it for a few hours Tuesday and Wednesday.  Between those two days, there were about five or six instances of crashing and/or freezing.  During these, the computer will lock up for about five minutes, while sound continues to play (sometimes repeating), after which it will either return to normal or reboot entire.  At first, I thought this was tied to the games I was playing, which was odd because they were nothing intensive.  However, the same thing happened while browsing Facebook in Chrome and using Skype, which says to me it isn't necessarily linked to that.
I'm not really sure what's wrong.  The only thing I've done is update to Windows 8.1 and install a few programs (Chrome, Steam, Avast) while removing the pre-installed Norton Antivirus.  I would like to figure out why this is happening and fix it.

Kenna - I appreciate the thorough response but it does not seem to make a difference in my case. Much like other posters, all is well if I revert to Win 8.
However, as soon as I install the Win 8.1 update (following all Toshiba instructions and appendix notes), the same issue appears again. Something about the S55D-A5383 does not agree with Windows 8.1.
If anyone has figured out a specific way to keep Win 8.1 running without freeze issues on this laptop config, please post your experience and fix here and thanks in advance!

  • Facetime picture freezes A LOT

Hi my mom and I have iphones and we facetime A LOT since i'm away at college. We've always had issues with the picture disconnecting (and only being able to hear eachother through audio) but it's getting worse and now even when the picture is there she says my picture is distorted alot. her picture isnt too bad usually on my iphone4s...sometimes freezes or skips alot but i think that's due to her having a low wifi signal...but what reasons could there be for her iphone4 to constantly loose the visual picture and having a distorted picture when she's looking at me from her phone when i have a strong wifi signal? it's gotten worse since i updated my phone to IOS7 but her phone isnt showing the update option yet.

I see...thanks for the replys is there anything i can do to improve the quality of the video call beyond getting a better internet connection? the reason i ask is b/c my mom and i will both have full wifi signals and itll still freeze sometimes

  • TS3423 why macbook pro freezes a lot for me now?

why macbook pro freezes a lot for me now?

I just wanted to follow this up by saying that you were entirely correct in your diagnosis of the situation.  My computer did have the faulty part you linked to.  I brought my laptop in and specifically told them to run that test, had it fail and then argued with the person at the genius bar and the manager.  Eventually they offered to have it sent out and have everything replaced for free of charge.  They did so mainly because I had complained about graphical issues almost every other time I had come in with problems and no one ran the test.  They should have caught this problem during my warranty, but they didn't, even though I mentioned the problem.
Anyhow, after having the part replaced, I haven't had my computer crash a single time since, or had many of the issues mentioned above.  I've never had this experience before.  Even brand new, I got occasional crashes.  Hopefully this new trend continues.
I do find that web browsing is still incredibly slow.  Web browsers just chug along at a slow pace, even though I have great internet speed.  Maybe I'll try just deleting my web browsers and reinstalling them...
Anyhow, thank you for your help and knowledge Clinton.

  • Flash player freeze a lot when playing Youtube videos fullscreen from Linux, but plays ok from Windows (CPU: AMD APU)

Flash player freeze a lot when playing Youtube videos fullscreen from Linux, but plays videos ok from Windows (CPU: AMD APU).
When playing video in default size it's OK (windows and Linux), but when setting video in full screen, on Linux there's troubles: video is hashed (freeze every 3 seconds).
CPU : AMD APU Athlon 5350.
    OS : Linux Mint 17 (64 bits).
Browser: Firefox v31 (on Linux and Windows 7).
Linux AMD video driver : Catalyst v14.4 (amd-catalyst-14-4-rev2-linux-x86-x86-64-may6.zip)
Linux Flash polayer version: 11,2,202,400 (deteced from https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ )

Hi s, well congrats on getting your brother's computer up and running. On your system, you have all correct Flash Player
files for IE and FF, as well as the SWO and SWF.
Since the Install of Flash Player, have you installed any programs that would have added any ActiveX Controls, or any other add ons or plug-ins?
Have you had an opportunity to see if your brother's computer has the issue you have when watching the same websites?
Are you using any ad-block in FF(Firefox) or any pop up blocker software installed?  I can't imagine updating to FP version 10 alone would cause this.
Is this happening only on the BBC website? Does what you watch come thru the BBC website or youtube directly?
We have your brother's computer to use to determine what is going on. If he is able to see the BBC website and what you
are having problems with, then we can rule out the website.
Other browser add ons, anti-virus programs, etc. affect the browser. Even tho, no problem with vs 9. Sometimes updates
can have an affect, even with Windows as we all know:-)
    Thanks,

  • While gaming graphics get scrambled and Satellite A200-1j0 freezes

    Hi,
I have a major graphics problem with my notebook. Its a Satellite A200-1j0 with HD 2600 running vista 32bit.
When I run a game the graphics get scrambled and the nb freezes.
I have been using the nb for casual gaming since i bought it (1 year ago) with no problems.
But some days ago, a couple of games (hl2, far cry 2) started freezing my system rarely and at random times.
Today, I updated the drivers from the Toshiba site and it got worse.
It now happens in almost every game, and as soon as graphics appear after the loading screens.
    Windows run without problems though.
Here are some photos of the notebook when the graphics get scrambled

    http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr237/doomlover_gr/DSC00104.jpg

My first thought would be a faulty VGA Card, especially considering you are using the proper Toshiba Display Drivers.
I would update the BIOS and see how that goes.
Then reinstall Windows using the Recovery Disc to ensure its not a software problem (maybe DirectX is corrupted?).
Otherwise, send it to an ASP for repairs.

  • Satellite P500-F12 - Freezes after 5 minutes gaming

I recently purchased a toshiba P500-12F laptop with the below specs, the problem i am having is that every time i try to start a game such as Mount and blade or empire total war, the game works for between 5-10 mins, but then freezes completely and the laptop starts to make a loud buzzing sound. The only way to get out of this is to press down the power button until it shuts down. I do not get the problem with anything other than these type of games and i dont know why it is doing this, any help or adivce would be welcome.

    Hi
The forum already contains such threads where notebooks freezes after 5 or 10 minutes of gaming. Did you read them?
At the moment its not easy to say what is causing this problem but first of all you should install the latest display driver from Toshiba. Dont use non-Toshiba drivers because they can cause this overheating!!
Make also sure that you are using the latest BIOS version and its useful to clean the notebook from to time using compressed air spray.

  • My IMac freezes a lot does any one knows why

My IMac freezes a lot and the multicolor circle shows up. Doe any one knows why? and How I can fix it?

The spinning beach ball can be caused by many different issues. I would suggest carefully reading the Spinning Beach Ball of Death article to troubleshoot where your problem is. Also when posting on a forum please complete your profile, without any information about your computer it's extremely difficult to help you out. Please click Profile Update for instructions.

  • Ios 8 on i phone 5 slow response and freeze a lot

I've updated my i phone 5 to ios 8.0.2  but now it's so slow  , freeze a lot and most of the apps crash  i turned on my location service nothing changes

As razmee209 said, you can use iTunes to install photos on your phone from wherever you have them stored. Where did you copy them to? Are you saying you selected them on you phone and just hit "copy"? That would only copy one at a time to the "clipboard" so that you can paste it somewhere else. As you copy each one, the previous one is deleted from the clipboard. This is not a storage area. Did you back them up on your computer or in iCloud?

  • Lightroom 2.6 freezes a lot

I am using LR2.6 with a catalog of about 39000 pictures, on a 64-bit W7 machine with 12g memory.  I keep everything in DNG, and export to JPG as needed.  The catalog keeps freezing up, and won't let me do anything, sometimes for several minutes at a time.  It opens again and is ok for a little while and then it freezes again, sometimes with one or more white panels and a notification that "Lightroom has stopped responding."  Sometimes it will go a long time without that happening, other times it is every few seconds.

I think part of the key is to optimize the catalog regularly every couple of days.
Whatever the magic is, somehow the problem seems to have disappeared in
    my workflow.  I have a catalog of 40,000 DNG pictures, a W7 64-bit, 12g
RAM, quad core and tons of internal and external HD space.  I have three
LaCie 2TB external drives, on USB, one of which contains all the DNG
files in my catalog.  I backup  and optimize the catalog
every few days, which I guess must be the key to something.  Other than
that, I cannot think of anything I am doing that is much different from
what I have always done, but somehow things are working smoothly at the
moment.  Knock wood.  I hope things improve for you as they did for me,
but there are still plenty of mysteries.  Maybe Adobe will sneak in some
fixes in their updates (without ever admitting that there were
significant problems in the first place!) and things will keep getting
    better.

Subject: Lightroom 2.6 freezes a lot
I am having a very similar issue with very similar computer.  50,000 images in catalog,  i7 920 cpu, 12GB ram, Windows 7 x64.
LR is freezing all the time between 5 and 50 minutes of use.  driving me nuts!
I thought I had some bad RAM so I ran memtest86+ for 24hrs and it checked out OK.
I thought it was my RAID array so i ran integrity checks and it came out OK.
I went back to thinking it was RAM and removed all but 2 sticks and tried to re-import my images (thinking maybe also corrupt catalog) and it would freeze at around 11000 images.  Swapped RAM for another pair and it happened again.
Then I thought it was a memory leak in LR2.6 so I put all my RAM back and re-imported my images and it was successful and has been running for 3 days straight with no freezes.
so all i think I did was change the order of the RAM (and re-seat it)
Anyone figure out what the actual cause and resolution is?

Sorry Kimberly, it will not. Apple does not provide a downgrade path for the iOS for a variety of reasons.
If you have any particular questions or issues you would like to discuss, please post those.

  • Phone is freezing a lot

Ok my phone has been freezing a lot. If I shut it off and turn it back on, it seems fine until it does it again. More of an annoyance than an actual problem, but what's the deal? I also posted another topic yesterday about it taking forever to get my yahoo mail lately. I don't know if this is yahoo or my phone?
I restored it last night with much trouble (more my piece of #$%@ HP laptop than the phone's problem!) and it still seems to be having the same issues.
Frustrating. Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes? Short of throwing the phone in the lake? Or driving to Oakbrook to visit with a mac genius?

I'll assume at the start that you have not jailbroken or hacked your phone, have not added applications (other than webapps). If my assumption is wrong then that is where your problem is.
For unhacked phones the usual cause of this is bad data that has gotten into one or more applications (usually mail or Safari). So first step is to clear Safari data. In Settings/Safari clear cookies, history and cache. Then reboot the phone (Hold HOME and SLEEP for about 8 seconds, until the logo appears; ignore the "Slide to turn off" prompt and keep holding).
Try using the phone for a while without using the Mail app. If you don't have the problem try launching Mail. Again see if the problem returns. If it doesn't you've fixed it. If it returns only after using the Mail app you need to do a Restore, and do not reload backup data. This should fix it, but you will lose and photos in the camera roll, SMS messages, and settings.
If it still shows the problem you most likely have a hardware problem; call or take it to an Apple store for further diagnosis.

My Satellite L675-S7016 freezes when I don't work with it 5-10 minutes and only if plugged with power cable, on battery power no problem with freezing.
I switch off sleep options in power manager on all power profiles, but problem still here.
Who ever met the same problem? How to solve?

od, what computer do you have? Does it ever "unfreeze" or do you have to power it down? When does it freeze?
