Models in Abap Webdynpro.

I am a Java guy having knowledge in Java webdynpro, it happend for me to get into ABAP webdynpro just had a small query here.
How does models functionality work in ABAp Webdynpro.
How do we access RFC, BAPI, web services, EJBs etc in ABAP web dynpro.

Hi Sai,
Model is nothing but the business logic similar to the Java webdynpro . I guess you have seen those Hook methods like WD_doinit, WD DOmodifyView some standard default methods which we get according to the requirement we write our code as and where we want . One basic thing is u must be aware of the Context which is the heart of the webdynpro abap applications the interaction between the screen and the database is done by this .
Let me take a small example of how are we going to use the RFC or Bapis.
EG:
We have a screen UI elemnets in which we have one input field and a table our aim is to fetch the data into the table depending upon the input field or say selection field . and here we will be using say RFC or it may be a BAPI.
SO step1. Intially we desing the screen UI elements , create a Node for the input field with cardinality (0:1). and create another node for the table binding with cardinality as (0:n).then bind the values of the screen .
step2: Now since after giving the value in the input filed we want to fetch the data. On action of the Button or on enter of the input filed we need to write our code.
That means here our bapi or RFC comes into picture . what we need to do is get_attribute of the input field and call that RFC in import values pass the get_attribute value and see that it returns some table
say lt_table.
Now when you debug you can see the table values which we need to bind it to the table.
lo_nd_table->bind_table( lt_table ).
This will fetch the table values depending upon the input field values you giv .

It worked fine the 1st time. Second time when the user clicks on the button to open up the popup it dumps.

ABAP WebDynpro Customised Screens

Hello,
We are currently trying to build some new ERP transaction screens using ABAP WebDynpro having the same layout as the ESS/MSS business packages which are of course built using Java WebDynpro. So basically looking at building screens which have the guided procedures format (some sort of a wizard which guides you through a few steps to complete the transaction).
Was wondering if we can have a similar interface built using ABAP WebDynpro as is avaialble in JAVA WebDynpro for completely new transactions (we are not tring to modify the ESS/MSS existing business package iViews).

Hi John,
WDA and WDJ have the same roots and hence share the same programming model. This includes the ui element model as well. There are very few exceptions where some platform specific adoptions had to be made (such as for the FileUpload) or where a slightly different focus had one platform implement a certain feature or ui element earlier than the other one.
Regarding extensibility, WDA offers features like the enhancement framework. As far as I am aware, ESS/MSS has its own extensibility support allowing you to generate new forms and processes. Since I am not an expert on this matter, I might be mistaken as well. So my suggestion would be to check the ESS/MSS documentation regarding any built-in extensibility.

Advantages of ABAP Webdynpros over BSP??

Hi,
We are currently in ECC6.0. Is ABAP Webdynpro advantageous over BSP for any UI development ECC6.0 onwards in general?
Specific requirement for which BSP is needed - we need a single application for a Help Desk team to handle calls from customers. The application will have multiple screens with data flowing into this application from multiple sources.
Need inputs on the above....

There are many incorrect statements in your posting. You appear to be compairing BSP to Web Dynpro Java - not Web Dynpro ABAP. Why would you do this in a Web Dynpro ABAP forum posting? Of course everything you stated about Web Dynpro running on the Java engine and using JCo and being programmed in the Java development workbench is totally wrong if you are comparing to Web Dynpro ABAP.

Web Dynpro ABAP is SAPu2019s new UI strategy, which was introduced in SAP
NetWeaver 7.0. It is based on the Model View Controller (MVC) paradigm

Russel, can use this tool to develop robust business applications quickly and
easily, without ever having to deal with the inner coding of the user interface
elements.
The Web Dynpro ABAP framework provides a WYSIWYG view editor (What

BRFplus + BPM + ABAP Webdynpro Architecture

Hi Gurus,
We are setting up Data Governance model in our company. As a part of this, we are currently evaluating various options. We are also considering BRF plus solution. Some of our high level requirements are as follows
1.     Break SAP transactions for Material Master and regroup the fields according the new business processes in different screens in web front end (possibly ABAP WebDynpro)
2.     Set up a workflow solution for new business processes (possibly BPM or Business Workflow)
3.     Integrate Business rules and validations, data checks and so on using BRF plus in to the workflow.
What that means is that whenever users make changes to the Material master Data in web front end, then a workflow is triggered and rules are applied to the data before the data is changed/created.
My questions are as follows
1.     Do we really need all these 3 components namely ABAP Webdynpro, BPM or Business Workflow and BRFPlus to achieve what we want to achieve? Or we can achieve this without having one of the components mentioned above?
2.     If yes or no, how the architecture should look like?
3.     How do we integrate these techonologies (which features of what component)
4.     Any examples you can share?

I don't see the need of web dynpro or BPM if you only want extra data validations.
You can integrate extra rules into your regular system as is using BRFplus for extra validations.

Set color alv output cell abap webdynpro

If let's say you are build a ALV table to output 'SFLIGHT' table, and you want PLANETYPE '747-400' to be displayed in green, and PLANETYPE '146-200' displayed in red.
Also, let's just say, you already had a context node 'SFLIGHT_NODE' that is mapped to the external node 'DATA' of your ALV.
Now:
1. you need to modify the context node 'SFLIGHT_NODE' to add an attribute -- say 'CELL_COLOR' of type 'WDY_UIE_LIBRARY_ENUM_TYPE' -- to the SFLIGHT_NODE (note, you need to delete 'DICTIONARY structure' that is bind to the 'SFLIGHT_NODE' node, otherwise, you will not be able to create addition attributes)
After, you will have something like this for your context node .
CONTEXT
 --> SFLIGHT_NODE
> CARRID
> CONNID
> FLDATE
> PRICE
> PLANETYPE
> <and any other attributes you had pulled from SFLIGHT)

IE Script error when double clicking on a view in Abap Webdynpro component

Hello experts,
I am running mini SAP trial version 2004 with Internet explorer 7.0 and also installed gui patch 23.
I am making a sample application in SE80 and when double clicking on a view in Abap Webdynpro component I get following error:

SOFM: Dsiplay method is not working when called from ABAP Webdynpro

Hi All,
I want to open an attachment from ABAP Webdynpro.
I have approached in this fashion:
1) Get the attachments as SOFM object key
2) On Click of a link on Webdynpro, I am calling a function module within which I am creating an instance of the SOFM object
3) Then I am calling the DISPLAY method
It is not opening.
But, if it opens when I driectly execute the function module. It open when I directly test the business object.

Display Method uses the Dialogue Module, You should not access such methods in web dynpro which are SAPGUI specific.
Web Dynpro Applications are run in Browser environment which cannot understand Dialog, it can understand only HTML.
Read the attachments and get the content and use FileDownload UI element to show it to user.

Zci type ADOBE Interactive Form in ABAP Webdynpro short dump

When I ran the 'FP_PDF_TEST_00' , it shows

As far as i know when you use Adobe forms in a WD4A application, language is your "web" connection language.
You can have a look at standard class CL_WD_ADOBE_SERVICE, it's used when generating an adobe forms from WD4A. , more particulary look at method DETERMINE_DOCPARAMS.

I am new to ABAP WebDynpro and self-learning going through SDN stuff and other online-help. Please provide me
your kind explanation on below doubts.
1. When do we use GET_ATTRIBUTE and GET_STATIC_ATTRIBUTE
2. How to read the index of a particular selected row in table?
3. How do you change position of a particulr node dynamically?
4. Is it possible to execute a component without a window?
5. Is it possible to run a VIEW without embeding into a window in Webdynpro application?
6. How to read the content entered in PARAMTER and SELECT-OPTION elements in ABAP Webdynpro? Can anybody pass code how to read entries?
I mean GET_ATTRIBUTE or GET_STATIC_ATTRIBUTES is used for reading attribute value.
7. Is it possible to fix the Message window position? Show at the bottom of a screen? Please provide some code for this.
8. Is it possible to change the color of a laber attached to a attribute dynamically? For example somefield is mandatory but you forgot to enter and press on u2018Continueu2019 then program should show that elementu2019s lable with redcolor text. Please provide me example code.

Method to get the values of a context attribute.
The prerequisite for this method is that the application knows the data type of the attribute.

ABAP Webdynpro Development - Script Error when Accessing Visual Elements

I am encountering a strange error at my client . I can't use the Abap Webdynpro visual elements to build views .
To reproduce the error :
- T-code SE80
- Open up any ABAP webdynpro component .
- Open up one of the view and go on Tab Layout .
Normal Screen : You would see many WYSIWYG items ( buttons, radiobutton , text elements etcu2026. ) at the left side u2026 these elements are used to build the view .
Here : No elements displayed and when we click on that area we get an error .
Instead of the elements to get displayed .. lines are displayed and when you try to open up ( click ) the lines , an internet explorer script error stating the following occurs ( although the abap wendynpro is edited in SAP Gui ) :

Recently, we have upgraded our ERP system (SAP ECC 6.0 SPS17) with EHP4 SPS8. SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA patch level same on 701_0008.
FQDN is mantianed at icm/host_name_full parameter in system as well as in /etc/hosts file with associated system IP address.
As suggested by Ted Dinh, we do not find any duplicate MIME files in our MIME Repository (SE80) and we cleared/invalidated ICM cache many times in problem analysis.
As suggested by Thierno Diarra , in our affected system domain WDY_MD_UI_ELEMENT_CATEGORY is well maintained in value ranges.
We have raised SAP OSS Message for the same, they told us to check dns server connectivity/settings with the affected system. we did the suggested DNS settings in affected system. But still the same error message is occuring. They have suggested same sap notes like #979039 and #1009930 & #1483210 , but all the corrections/suggections/SICF service status as mentioned, are found OK in our system.

ABAP webdynpro with interactive form - launching failure

We are doing some prototype in the solution manager box using ABAP webdynpro and Adobe Interactive Form. I created a webdynpro with a very simple Adobe form embedded in an view.
