Modification to track changes in a database

This ER diagram for a database. I need to make some modifications to the "WorkOrder" table so that I can track all the changes made to workorderID column. Also users want to be able to run some queries for example: To count the total number of
modified workorders. Please help me with the best solution. Thanks in advance.
I am thinking of a Type 2 dimension with a start date and Enddate and a flag. Please advise.

Few solutions:
1. scripting your changes manually, then apply to all databases.
2. writing a DDL trigger to script your changes automatically and using it. ( adventure works database has its sample )
3. using SSDT (database project ) in visual studio, then using visual studio database compare tools.
   more info: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/tools.aspx
4. using third party database compare tools like Redgate etc.

  • Track of table changes in a database

how to keep track of table changes in a database.
Some records have been deleleted, is there away of seeing that change.

basically, if you havn't already set up a mechanism to track these sorts of changes, they are already lost.
there are a number of things you can do. one method that we use is a trigger on the table to insert a record into an audit table for every row that gets changed or deleted.
oracle has some other built in auditing tools that I'm not familiar with though.

  • How to track changes when a contact updates contacts address section?

I'm creating a workflow to create an integration event when a contact updates its contacts address section (number/street, address2, address3 city, state, zip).
    Record Type: Contact
Trigger Event: When Modified record saved
    Workflow Rule Condition: None
    Action Type: Integration Event
When I go to configure the workflow action, I don't see the address on the track changes list. How do I specifiy the address section to be tracked when it's modified?
    Thanks

The best way would be to create a trigger in the database that would update the history table whenever the data was changed. The next best would be to use a stored procedure. I would not try to do this with server side scripting.

  • How to track changes on Infoprovider?

    Hi Gurus,
Could you please provide the steps of how to track changes on Infoprovider? I had 4 Infocubes (belonging to the same info area) that contains compressed data - but now when I tried to display the data, all the cube are empty - no data were aechived.
I would like to track any actions that were made on those cubes.
    Thanks

thanks Kumar for helping me out here
I tried RSD_CUBE_LOG_DELE function module - It came out "no logs found in the database"
I tried tables RSDRDLOGHEADER and RSDDSTATDELE which provide me deletion informations like user name... but since we have partially archived those specific infoproviders in the same period of time where I think eveything was gone from cube, I am not able to related when and who the data that were not archived were deleted from Infocube
Under manage Infocube --> archiving tab, all the created archiving request are only for certain dates (below 2006). I know that we had data above 2006.
    Kindly provide additional inputs.
    Thanks

  • How to track changes in inputs in a form?

    Dear Masters,
I have an update page generated by dreamweaver which works correctly. But I need to implement something else additionally to my application developed in classical asp environment.
I want to track changes in the form in my update page and save them to another table in ms sql database.
My update page updates orders table but I want to save changing information to logdetail table in the database.
One of the main problem is that even if i use a javascript code there is a problem like that if a user chose b from a and b couple and return to change a value again it is a problem. I need the final changing info.
Another problem is that even if i determine the changing inputs (textfields and list/menus)  how can i insert in to logdetail table?
Because my form updates order table when i press submit button. How can i do that?
If someone can help me about that i  would be gratefull
    thanks in advance

  • Track changes in Materialized view.

    Hi all,
i would like to know if it is possibile to track changes in a Materialized view.
    1) i have a materialized view tha can be fast refreshed, built on remote tables
    2) base tables have, on remote DB, Materialized view log with rowid and primary key
    3) Changes in the base tables are not frequent so the refresh of my mv is very fast even if master tables have millions of records.
I would like to know if it is possibile to insert into my materialized view the date of the refresh of the single record. In this way i can read only data that have changed in my MV. The problem is that even if only one row has changed i have to read all the data from my mview.
    thanks

    Hi,
firstly I must say - it's silly to refuse materialized view log. The impact of this solution is minimal and it's standard and reliable. Then you can use fast refresh and that is certaily the best for both - master and MV side. The MV log is just a table, where trigger stores rowid of changed rows. There are not other solution, bacause you need to do the same things as MV log funcionality.
If you cannot make changes to the remote database, I see only one (but unreliable solution) - use the flashback query. Then you will be able to see row changes for some period in past. The information is read from undo tablespace so that the period length depends on remote database workload. It's risky to rely on information from UNDO tablespace, but you can write your own refresh with some special fucionailty - if flashback query returns the desired changes, refresh only changed rows, otherwise do complete refresh.
    SELECT
        ROWID,
        VERSIONS_STARTSCN,
        VERSIONS_ENDSCN,
        VERSIONS_OPERATION,
        t.*
FROM master_table versions between timestamp minvalue and maxvalue t
where VERSIONS_STARTSCN is not null;Columns description is for example here:
    http://www.oracle-developer.net/display.php?id=320
And if you wrote your own custom refresh function you could add the timestamp functionality too :-)

  • Track changes on 'Z' tables

    Hi,
We have a requirement that to track changes on our Z tables. Could any one help me in process of doing this ?
    Thank you,
    Surya

    HI,
U Read follow this for clarifies u r doubt..........
As with business objects, we recommend that you activate the logging of changes to table data for those tables that are critical or susceptible to audits. (See the SAP – Audit Guidelines R/3 FI, in Section 4.3.5, for examples of important tables. This document is available at
http://www.sap.com/germany/aboutSAP/revis/infomaterial.asp. You must also explicitly activate this logging. Note the following:
    ·        You must start the SAP System with the rec/client profile parameter set. This parameter specifies whether the SAP System logs changes to table data in all clients or only in specific clients. We recommend setting this parameter to log all clients in your productive system.
    ·        In the technical settings (use transaction SE13), set the Log data changes flag for those tables that you want to have logged.
If both of these conditions are met, the database logs table changes in the table DBTABPRT. (Setting the Log data changes  flag only does not suffice in recording table changes; you must also set the rec/clientparameter.)
You can view these logs using the transaction SCU3.
Although we do deliver pre-defined settings, you generally have to modify them to meet your own requirements. Use the report RSTBHIST to obtain a list of those tables that are currently set to be logged. Use transaction SE13 to change the Log data changes flag for these or other tables.
For more information, also see SAP Notes 1916 and 112388.
    regards,
    sudheer.

  • Entity object track changes "Modified by"

    Hi Experts,
I have a question about entity object track changes. I change enabled one entity object attribute to track change "Modified by".
However whenever the DB changes occurs then the Modified column is updated, however the name is the database connection user name. How can i override that value during the record update. Do i need to set any DbTransaction.session environment variable to save that in the db/

    Sorry for the late reply,
I tried this but no luck. Can anyone let me know how to change the entity history columns values like modified by user name. etc....

  • Linking text to track changes

Hello all, my end goal is to be able to track changes to variable text that gets added to a text frame that has particular tags in it. For example the text frame may have this:
    Save <text1>
    Reg price <text2>
I then susbtitute in <text1> and <text2> with variable text but would like to maintain a link to those individually to see if anything has changed. I do not care if the words "Save" or "Reg price" change and I can't use those words to know where my variables are because they may not always be there. Another example could just have variable text, in which I would want to keep track of the changes individually like this:
    <text1>
    <text2>
    <text3>
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

The text itself is tagged. I am retrieving the text from a database and replacing the corresponding <text1> with the text from the database. I then want to be able to update the database with just changes that occurr to the database text that got added. It is very simple when the textframe just holds one <text1> with no static text, because in that instance I just take whatever is in the textframe and update the database when the editing in indesign is complete. However, I would like to add the capability of having more than one <text*> label and also be able to have static text.
    For example:
    Database looks like this:
    text1 = "1.99"
    text2 = "2.99"
    textFrame looks like this:
    Save <text1>
    Reg price <text2>
    After replacing the text:
    Save 1.99
    Reg price 2.99
Then lets say I edit the second price and text:
    Save 1.99
    Regular price 4.00
I then want to update the database to say
    text1 = "1.99"
    text2 = "4.00"
    I hope thats more clear!

  • Tracking changes of the given packages in ABS tree periodically.

well, i need some kind of automation to track changes of the given packages in ABS tree, e.g. daily, and reporting to me if they happens.
it's natural to write a script that does exactly that, but maybe someone has a working solution yet, so i decided to ask here first.
so, any ready solution? thanks in advance.

I don't know what exactly are you trying to do, but you can e.g. visit the online package database and check the log: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … ckages/0ad
If ABS got updated, it means there's a new package is available, so you can use pacman to track it. If you're using ABS to customize some package, add it to IgnorePkg in pacman.conf.

  • Report to track changes to infotypes prior to running the  payroll interfac

wants a report to track changes to infotypes prior to running the  payroll interface.  The attached report looks like it should work but it returns nothing.  Is there config that turns on "Track Changes": for select infotypes?  If so, can they be activated for key infotypes so this report will run?
    Name, Address, position, etc.
    Not attendance and absence ITs.

    Hi,
IMG – Personnel Management – Personnel Admin – Tools – Revision – Set up change document:
    This node has three items:
    Infotypes to be logged
    Field Group Definitions
    Field Group Characteristics
Using these three options you define which infotypes you wish to log, then which fields, then you define which groups of fields are to be saved. Click each link, or see the sections below:
    Infotypes to be logged
Here you define which PA infotype numbers you require logging. Select New Entries and enter a transaction class (A for Pers Admin, B for recruitment), then enter the infotype number and save.
    Field Group Definition
When changes are made to a logged infotype, the field contents before and after are recorded. This is the very reason for logging the infotype, but there is an overhead in performance and disk space used so it needs to be given consideration. Typically you will want to record fields that are pay relevant.
Using the field group definition, you specify which fields you wish to record changes in. When any of the fields in the group are changed, all the fields in the group are saved. You can use an asterisk to log all the fields of the infotype but this is not recommended for space and performance, also there are many fields on an infotype that you will not be using, that will be saved also. Ideally you will pick individual fields of the infotype and enter them like so:
The field group number is a freely defined number you allocate to the group, it will be used in the next step. For normal use, simply pick any number not already used in that infotype. All fields with the same field group number are recorded in the log, even if they have not changed.
Click New Entries and enter the infotype number, field group number and field names that you wish to record.
    Field Group Characteristics
When you have set up the field group numbers, use the field group characteristics to activate the logging of those fields. You can also specify a supplementary field group; this means that the contents of another field group can also be saved at the same time, even though the contents have not changed. In practise it is not used much. Simply select new entries, enter the transaction class, infotype, and in the DocFieldGr enter the number you assigned to the field names that you want to store, then enter L for Long Term Documents (short are not supported)
    The Audit Report
To access the report showing the logged infotype changes, use the HR report tree available from various menu paths, including:
Main Menu – Human Resources – Pers Management – Administration – Info System – Reports - Documents – Infotype change – logged changes in infotype data. (RPUAUD00).
When you run the report, select the infotypes you require, and select and execute.
    Cheers

  • Reports to track changes on Deliveries and Sales order

    Hi All
Do you perhaps know of a specific report that could possibly track changes made to a Sales order and delivery at line item level.
The problem is change log only logs the deletion of the line item but not the actual material number.
Do we have to enhance existing reports to achieve visibility for deletion of line items.
    Regards
    KC

    Hi Lakshi
Thank you very much for that feedback the thing is that you can search that on an order per order basis and even when you get to the change log you will not be able to see what material number was deleted.
    That is the problem.
Has anyone experienced this wher the requirement was to have a report to run so see what changes have been made to orders or deliveries that they could view wholistically.
    Kind Regards

  • Is there a way to retain the track changes from a Microsoft Word document when working on a IPAD word processing App?

I am going on a work trip and want to be able to collaborate with my colleagues, almost all of whom will be using Microsoft Word on Microsoft Windows laptops and I want to draft and collaborate on documents.  The approach we always take to such collaboration is to use the track changes feature in Microsoft Word that shows changes and who made the changes. As best I could tell apples Pages software ignores the notations added by the track changes features and accepts all changes to the document making it difficult to see what changes were made and by whom.
I would appreciate any suggestions to address this challenge.

I noted from some similar topics that Pages seems to support track changes but that while it reflects deletions made in Microsoft Word, it does not appear to show them -- is there a way to fix this problem?

  • Track changes showing multiple entries for a single change?

Hi there .. I'm using Pages '09 v4.1 to edit MS Word '97 documents. I've been using the 'track changes' feature to work on chapters in a book and have done so with no problems so far (about 6 chapters so far in separate files). I went to start the next chapter and noticed that when I make a single change such as highlighting a word and making it italic, the tracking bubbles will show up as individual entries for every letter instead of for a single word. The really annoying thing is that it's not consistent .. some whole-word changes show up as a single entry, while some show as a few entries but don't necessarily correspond to how many letters are in the word being changed. When I try deleting specific tracking bubbles to see which part of the word they correspond to, it varies. For example, if I put the word "similar" in italics on page one, paragraph one, it shows up as 2 entries. When I delete the last entry, "imilar" will go back to standard font, while "s" stays italic until I delete the other entry. It's as though the words in the document are being recognized based on something other than the obvious, and certain letters are being grouped together in the program's brain, while others are separate.
It's not isolated to italics, btw. If I reformat the entire document to be left-aligned instead of center-aligned, it will show lots of separate tracking bubbles in various places through the document, rather than showing one bubble for my single change.
I've tried duplicating and saving a new version of the document, as well as creating a new doc and pasting everything into that and saving as a new doc, though I wasn't sure if this would carry over the problem .. It did.
It's not the end of the world as far as finishing this job, but it's pretty annoying and will be worse for the person who ultimately verifies the changes I've made. Any help is greatly appreciated.
