Modifying PDF Forms

I apologize if this is not the proper location to post this question. Please move it if needed. I have searched for an answer to my question and found nothing helpful so I am starting here. Thank you.
I am creating PDF forms as follows: Creating form in Word 2007, saving as a PDF file, opening the PDF file in Acrobat Pro 8, and then using the LiveCycle Designer to add fields to the form.
I have no problem with that part.
On occasion, I need to change information on the underlying form (i.e., the information in the Word file saved as the PDF).  Is there an EASY way to just replace the PDF file "underneath" the form fields in LiveCycle? If I can do that, then I'd just need to tweak a few form fields. However, I have not found an easy way to replace the PDF image under the fields.  The only way I figured out how to do it was to write a two page procedure so that I remember how to do it next time I need to do the same thing.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

I would agree to go to the other forum. What you requires would have to be done there. If you had made the form in Acrobat instead, you would have simply opened the page and used Document>Replace pages and the form fields would have remained on top of the new pages (might have to move them). I think there may be a similar feature in Designer, but not sure.

  • Is there any api to modify the form field in PDF?

    Hi,
Our client need we provide the editable PDF, i.e. some form fields in the PDF report can be edit. Now we created the PDF template and merged it with the XML data definition in Jdeveloper, but when we get the final PDF report, we found that the PDF form field property is changed to "Read-Only" automatically. We make sure that in PDF template the form field is not "Read-Only", something happened when we merging the XML data and the PDF template.
Now we wonder if there is any API can help us to modify the PDF form field property, after we merge the XML data and PDF template, we can use it to change the form fields to editable, not "Read-Only".

    Hi,
What I need is to modify some form fields' property, I explore some web and found before I create the PDF file, I can set the security of the PDF:
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.put("pdf-security","true");
    prop.put("pdf-open-password","welcome");
So I wonder if there is one property related to the PDF form field.
    Thank you.

  • Printing PDF forms to an impact printer

    Greetings,
I hope I've found the correct forum for this question.
We are having difficulty printing PDF forms to an impact printer.  We are required by regulations to print to multi-part forms from our GTS landscape, which is going live soon.  Since Adobe is the direction SAP is headed with forms, we have been utilizing ADS.  However, the need for impact printing has presented a problem.  Has anyone utilized PDF printing to an impact printer?  I'll list some details in case it will help.
    Printer: Lexmark Forms Printer 2590
Backend Print Solution: HP Output Server on AIX
    SAP GTS: NetWeaver 7.0 SP17 w/ SLL-LEG 720 SP7
Our printer has printer languages of Epson Emulation and Personal Printer Data Stream (PPDS).  Neither of these are included in the standard device types for PDF as specified in OSS Note 685571.  I do not see an appropriate XDC file to copy and modify.
Has anyone else run into this issue and found a resolution?
    Many thanks for your assistance.
    Wesley Tollett

the PortName should be changed accordingly.
if you are using printer port , commonly lpt1, you should change it to lpt1
ur command line could work , i think
i've tried it locally in my machine, it works fine.

  • How can I get a PDF form to email to me when it is hosted online?

Ok, I'm not a coding expert, but I understand CSS and html alright.
I am trying to create a PDF form for my website: www.pantherapressdesign.com.
I have already created the forms (they are under the purchase section of the site) and when they are saved to the harddrive they work just fine. HOWEVER, when you fill them out and they open in the browser they will not submit to me (aka. I don't get them by email, even though the submit button correctly re-directs you to the thanks page).
In the fuctions of the submit button I have it set to mailto:[email protected]
When the form is saved on the hard drive (I open it from the desktop) and click submit it brings up a dialog box and asks me how I want to send it. I then choose desktop mail service, it opens it in an email and sends it.
I want customers to be able to click the form from the website - fill it out right there in the browser - and then be able to submit it to me that way.
I am assuming I must route this through the php or something, but am not sure how to do that. I have the php working for the contact from on the website, but I don't know php so I used pre-written code to do that. Is there some simple code I can drop into my php that will handle these forms? Help, please! Thanks

I looked at the Stationary form, and there are a number of things you need to change. It is currently set up to submit as "HTML", as opposed to FDF, XFDF, or the entire PDF. This is fine if you're submitting the form to a web server, which can read the field data, place it in an email, and send it off. This is actually much preferred to relying on the user's machine being set up properly to send an email. Many are not and not receiving order that someone thought was submitted will be bad for your business. Consider removing the existing forms today and you can update when they are working.
Your web hosting service likely has a PHP script that is designed to work with HTML forms and send an email with the form data included. This can work with a PDF form if the form is correctly set up. To do that, you will need to know how the script works and what it is expecting in the way of form data when it processes a submission. The PHP script should also be modified to send an appropriate response back to the user, which can be a simple redirect. The way you have it now with a link to the redirect page is wrong. It goes there whether the form is complete or not and whether the email actually got sent. This can be avoided by having the web server take care of this.
If you don't have the expertise to modify the form to suit the PHP script and PHP script to suit the workflow, you'll need to find someone who does.

  • Interactive PDF forms

    Hi,
In Our project we are creating an Interactive PDF form. This form shows some data that we get from the bapi. While creating the form there is no issue.
We are also saving the generated PDF's at some location in the server. Through a different application we are accessing these old stored pdf's. Now when we save the PDF to our local machine and try to open it we get a message saying:
    >"This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document".
With this message all the javascript written on the PDF form get disabled and due to this few of the data are not getting displayed.
What can be the reason for this? Does it has something to do with ADS configuration on the server?
    Please reply.
    Thanks & regards,
    Sujit

    Hi, Sujit!
To me it seems that the document somehow gets modified while you process. Try to save your file on the local machine under a new name, enable and save again.

  • How to delete checkbox in pdf form using adobe acrobat professional 6.

I  am trying to modify a pdf form having a single layer. There are some checkboxes which i want to delete. I am using Adobe acrobat 6 professional. USing Advanced Editing tools -> Touchup Object Tool , i have try to delete the checkbox, it deletes all fields and tables in the form and there is only text left on the form. Any help would be appreciated. . Thanks@

You do not use the "Object Tool" to edit forms. There should be a "Form" menu option and under this option you will have the opton "Edit form in Acrobat". This is the way one should edit/create a form in Acrobat.

  • Creating a pdf form that with document assembly = allowed

I am having trouble creating a print and mail pdf form that i can combine with other pdf documents. I have created a form in live cycle designer. when i try and combine it with other documents it says that the form i have created is protected and cannot be used for this command. I have not explicitly put any security on the form. I have simply created the form and saved it as a pdf. when i open the form with adobe acrobat pro and check the document properties it is always set to "document assembly = not allowed" how do i change this? i have experimented with the security settings and even using a password and allowing changes to the document but nothing seems to change the "document assembly = not allowed" i have adobe acrobat 7.0 professional with Live Cycle Designer. Please Help!

    Brian,
PDF Files made with Acrobat are based on postscript.
PDF Files made with LiveCycle Designer are based on XML and are essentially wrapped in a PDF. Once modified in LiveCycle Designer, you can no longer edit the file directly in Acrobat.
They do not share the same base file type and can not be combined into a single PDF using Acrobat version 7.
One of the new features of Acrobat version 8 - is called packages. Packages allow you to combine files of different types (acrobat and designer) as well as documents with different security settings (also not previously allowed). Each file in the package maintains it's independent identity and settings, wrapped in a new pdf file.
Recommended solution: Upgrade to Acrobat 8 Professional, get the new version of designer, and the ability to use packages.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't edit part of someone else's pdf form

I'm trying to modify a pdf form that was made by a govt agency (why isn't important, it's basically the current example of this occurrence - I've run into this elsewhere). I'm kind of a n00b at this so I've still got alot to learn...
The doc has what looks like a graphic of some text on a page that I'm trying to remove. Can't select it. It may have something to do with the fact that it was made with a later version of Acrobat than I'm using (v6.0.2 of Pro) 'cuz I get a message when I open it. So I've tried just about every tool I could find to select it with no luck.
Is there anything like an erase tool that will delete pixels? Or delete everything in a box? Could this be a layer issue?
    TIA!

Sounds like an XFA form from Livecycle Designer - check the PROPERTIES
of the form under the FILE menu - it's the PDF Producer were interested
    in ....
Another possibility would be ARE (Adobe Reader Extensions) - can you go
File / Save a Copy and then open that version?
Last option, check the padlock at the bottom left in Acrobat 6 - is
there one? If so, check the security settings, it might be set to no
    editing.

  • Import Multiple Records to a PDF Form

    Hi,
I produce a separate XML file for every voucher sent to a client on a golf tour.  Using a form created in LiveCycle Designer 8.0 I create a corresponding PDF document for each voucher and import the data using Acrobat XI Pro.
However I need a better solution and came across this
Record-based processing using LiveCycle Output ES | Adobe Developer Connection
but the 'output' requires Live Cycle ES.
I followed the instructions in the above article and modified the form so that the bindings are in place from the XML fields to the form fields,
Essentially I want to create one XML files for all vouchers and then do one import (i.e. a single PDF document with multiple pages) where Acrobat Pro XI identifies each XML 'voucher' node and appends another copy of the form as a new PDF page.  If it makes any difference there is only one form and it is designed to be A4 size.
    Is this possible?
    Many thanks,
    Peter

LiveCycle forms are very different from Acrobat forms. You might get a better response in the LiveCycle forums.

  • PDF Form Password Permission Question

I'm new to creating PDF forms and have Acrobat 9 Pro. I'm creating a form for a client who is asking if I can put two passwords on the form:
    1. a password that enables my client (Client A) to open the form, enter info in the fields, save as something and forward the PDF on to their client (Client B).
    2. a password that enables Client B to view only
Does anyone know if I can put both types of passwords on the original doc or does Client A have to put Client B's password on it after they modify the doc? Any help is much appreciated.

What application will client A and B be using?
Chances are Client A will have to change the password before sending to Client B. But Client A won't be able to if they are just using the free Reader to fill out the form.

    Can anyone advise please?

    Thanks for the reply keaneSenses.
I am actually looking for a c API that is preferably free but willing to pay for one if need be. I found a lot of API's searching on google but the ether java , c# or C++ and trying to port them is proving difficult.
I have used Haru PDF to create PDF files in the past but i can not use it to modify an existing PDF and  or to fill in forms.
If anyone knows of or has used another API please let me know?
I really need to find a one that is compatible with CVI

  • How to Pass XML Data to a PDF Form and Load it into form fields

I have xml Form data in a string. I would like open a programatically launch a pdf document and pass the xml data as one of the parameters and this xml data needs to load all the form fields.
Any Idea as to how this can be done?

I have the same requirement as Daminu, but from the research I have been doing it seems your reply is only partially true.
If your PDF is an XFA PDF form, with Reader Extensions enabled, and you want to keep the Reader Extensions functionality for a user to use after your programmatic manipulation, then neither of these tools will work (FDFToolkit or iText).
Upon the user opening the file once it has been programmatically modified, the user will see the following:
From what I have read, this requirement can only be fullfilled by use of LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server?  Please confirm?

  • Help with submit button on PDF form

I created a form via the Forms Central desktop app then saved it as a PDF to my desktop.  When opening in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, I noticed that I am unable to include a submit button - it does not let me edit the PDF.  I've tried going back into Forms Central and adding a submit button, but that feature is not available anywhere.  Any suggestions?
PS - My preference is to have the responses returned to me, not my Forms Central account.
    Thanks so much.

    Hi;
OK - I can clarify some things and tell you how to do what your looking for.
The desktop FormsCentral application tools are really designed towards create forms that do collect data on FormsCentral servers.  You can still easily create PDFs that do not submit data to FormsCentral, but you'll have to add any alternative submit functionality using the Forms tools in Acrobat.  You can create a PDF without the submit button in either case, signed in/out of the Desktop Application from the "File" - "Save as PDF Form" menu item.  You can then modify the PDF in Acrobat XI Pro by doing a "Save A Copy", when you open the copy you can edit it any way you like, adding a "Submit" button that email's the PDF/Responses back to you...
Here's how: In Acrobat open the PDF you saved from the FormsCentral Desktop application and go to "File" - "Save a Copy" and choose a location, this will remove the security.  Open up the copy you just created and you can now edit it, here is a YouTube video tutorial using Acrobat XI, he covers the email button in about two minutes, there are lots of tutorials out there but this one is easy to follow:,

    Hi,
The problem is that on every form you fet while calling the function module, you get the header information of an ADOBE Forms so when you try to open it you will see the latest one ...
The ideal solution is to merge all your document into one , unfortunately it's not possible while using ADS in SAP .
An alternative for your problem is to modify your form in order to have page break while changing of forms . Then you will retrieve only one form with all page and that should work.
Hope this is clear and help you .
    Regards.

  • Filling out a pdf form with C#

We have some pdf forms that I have put textboxes, checkboxes, etc on with LiveCycle. I want to write a C# program that will ask the user some questions and send the pdf form the data to fill it out. On my development machine I have VS 2005, .Net platform 2.0, and Adobe Professional 8. The program runs fine on that machine. I downloaded the SDK and modified the FillFormCS code to build the test project.
Is it possible to do the same kind of thing with just having Adobe Reader 8 installed? Is there an SDK example that shows how?
    Thanks,
    Khari
