Modifying the width of a dropdown list in an iView

Hi,
I need to increase the width of a drop down list box in ESS iView (We are not having any .par file for that particular iView).
Suggest a procedure to accomplish this.
Any help appreciated

Modifying the width of the DESNAME system parameter in Reports 6i

This is probably so simple so I apologise for posting it here but I've been asked to look at an error with an Oracle Report (Reports 6i) (I've never really used Reports).
When attempting to run the report, we get the following error :
REP-0091: Invalid value for parameter 'DESNAME'.
I think this is because the runtime value supplied for the DESNAME parameter exceeds the width property defined in the report. However, I cannot seem to modify the width property in Report builder.
Can someone tell me how to modify the width property for the DESNAME system paramter ??

I don't think it is possible to increase its width. It's a system parameter which can have several pre-defined or user-defined values. Check the documentation or help regarding this.
Also, I think you can check several things.
1. Check "Report Triggers" if any. DESNAME can be modified there. Menu item "Program" --> "Find and replace in PL/SQL..." can help to search the code.
2. But more likely, incorrect value of DESNAME is passed into report from a calling module or batch script, or whatever. It can be a RUN_PRODUCT call in forms, or RWRUN60 in script. Check DESNAME there.
3. Try to debug. Use srw.message to display DESNAME value at report startup, for instance in "before parameter form" trigger.

List of Values - Can you modify the width of the return value?

I have a page item that is a Select List. Some of the display and return values in the list of values are up to 500 characters in length.
My client is fine with viewing the list in its entirety (full display width) within the select list, but is asking if there is a way to wrap the text on the screen once the value is selected/returned. Is this possible?

Thank you very much for your response. The problem is that I have many of these select lists on this one page and others, so I would have to go through the entire application and create all these display only fields. Was hoping there was someone to manipulate the width (wrap around capability) of select list field itself. Thanks, Laura

Referencing the text in a Dropdown List

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to reference the text of the selected item of a Dropdown List. The scenario is as follows:
I have a dropdown list in a form which is used to select profit centres. The dropdown list's Entry List consists of the Profit Centre Code as the VALUE and the Profit Centre Description as the corresponding TEXT. I would like to reference the TEXT of the selected item in a formula for building a dynamic string that includes the Profit Centre Description plus other data, for informational display purposes in a Plain Text control. However, it seems that only the VALUE of the dropdown list can be referenced in a formula and not the TEXT.
Is this a limitation of Visual Composer?

I'm not clear about your proposed solution. In the reference "#ID|ACA1EO|@DL_Division", "#ID|ACA1EO|" is the ID of the form which contains the Dropdown list and "DL_Division" is the name of the Dropdown list control itself. When referenced in this way, the VALUE of the selected item is always returned. However, I would like to determine the TEXT of the corresponding selected item and there doesn't appear to be a method to do this.
Can you provide more details for your proposed solution?

How to modify the width of a column?

Hi,
I would like to specify different values in the width for the columns in a custom report, because from Microsoft Excel I would like to print all information in an only page.
I have tried to modify the values from "Additional formatting options" specifying different values, but when I donwload the report in Excel format, the columns doesn't modify (they have the same with as default).
How can I do it?

I need to maintain a MOSS 2007 site. It has an existing list with some columns to update. I need to reduce the length of these columns. Can I accomplish this operation with no impact on list data_

I seem to have been clear. I need to reduce the lenght of some list columns, thus to reduce the number of characters. The list is already existing and has some thousands of items.
In order to run a proof, I've modified the length (number of characters) of only one list column and then I've set the original length: the data saved inside the columns hasn't been truncated. So, I've noticed that setting the length of a list
column inside MOSS 2007 doesn't modify the pre-existing value, because doesn't modify the length of the corresponding column in the content database. Changing the lenght of a column affects only the input data operation in the MOSS list.

How can I sort the Firefox Tools menu dropdown list alphabetically?

The Tools menu has a dropdown list, but entries are not in alphabetical order. Options and some individual add-ons/extensions show up in the list, but not alphabetically. It would be helpful to have them in alphabetical order in the list, however, I can find no option to sort them. Am I missing some hidden, built-in option for sorting? Is there an add-on perhaps that will provide a sorting means? Anyone have a clue? I haven't found anything in my searches on the topic... just regarding sorting bookmarks. But it is the Tools menu dropdown list I want to be able to tweak. Anyone?

Took your suggestion about trying the Menu Editor add-on. So far, it seems to be working. Noted some comments at the add-on's Mozilla page that indicated possible problems with changing the Context menu, and will monitor effects on some changes I made to that menu. But I'm very happy to have been able to re-order my Tools menu drop-down list with this add-on. Thank you so much! God bless!

Reports: Need to modify the width of a field on Dashboard prompts

Hello gurus,
We have configured a report, and exposed it on the Dashboard. One of the fields in the Dashboard prompts called "Account Name" is unusually large. We assume this is because it is fetching the data directly from the DB, and the width is to show the complete name.
The client wants to reduce this width such that it looks nicer.
We didn't find any such options in the Dashboard prompts' settings. Please let us know, in case somebody is aware of a work-around.

open the query window in the data model, change something like adding a space at the end of a line and press ok. Reports should chekc now against the database the maximaum length and re-adjust the fieldlength. to explicity set the fieldlength, use a CAST(COLUMNNAME AS VARCHAR2(1500)) instead of the COLUMNNAME in your query.

IQueryable returns 3693 Items but only inserts the first 1000 to dropdown lists

I am querying SharePoint to retrieve all the lists of accounts. I can see that I have 3693 account items when I query the results. However when I convert
this into a lists or insert this as DataSource of a dropdown field, it only takes the first 1000 items of the results.

That's very interesting. Here is where I am at the moment, I started doing:

var list1 = organisations.Take(1000).ToList();
var list2 = organisations.Skip(1000).Take(1000).ToList();
var list3 ... //until all 3693 records has been extracted
I then enumerated the values inside each lists and voila! I can see the rest of the results. However, doing Take() and ToList() made it really slow. It now takes approximately 2 minutes to display all 3693
data into the dropdown field.
I'm very lost here! I thought doing:
dropdown.DataSource = organisations;
is all I need to display all the data!

How to show the contents of a dropdown list with different colors

I have a drop downlist on my dialog. I want to show each of its text attribute and its back ground with different color.
Suppose I am showing 4 strings in the dropdown like Name1, Name2, Name3 and Name4, then how to change the color of each name and its background.

How to deselect the default option in dropdown list in Adobe Pro XI?

I know how to change the default option in properties, but I don't want there to be a default at all. When the user opens the form, I want the fields to be blank.

When I first made the file, I made several drop-down lists as you can see here and when the form is first opened, they are blank. Then later, when I had to make some changes to the options, the program selects a default, like the "Physical Needed: field: (I set it to None, since I couldn't make it blank.) I like the form to be blank when opened so the person filling it out can easily see which options still need a selection. I don't want those 2 defaults of "None". I've tried copying a existing field, but as soon as I make changes to the selection options in Properties, a default option is default is set and I cannot seem to un-highlight all the options in the Item List:.

How do I customize the Digital Signature Reasons dropdown list?

I added a Digital Signature field to a pdf file, then added an Action to the field properties for "Mouse Down" to run a JavaScript.
I am using Acrobat Pro XI.
Here is the Javascript:

I included the alert statement just to see if the JavaScript is being executed, and it is. The alert is displayed. But, the Reasons field still contains all the default values; it does not contain the specified values ("Reason1", "Reason2"). The name of the digital signature field is "SigField".
Why does this JavaScript not work?

It's not clear to me what you're trying to accomplish. If you get rid of your digital ID you will still be prompted to create/add one when you need to sign a form, which you say you still need to do? Do you really just want to e-sign (hand-drawn signature, or stamp) instead of digitally sign? Do the forms you're using have digital signature fields?
