use the following tcodes to monitor BPM.
1) SXI_CACHE - Check for the Return Code. It should be 0. Otherwise there is some problem in your BPM Scenario.
2) SXMB_MONI_BPE - Entry point for the following transactions.
SWF_XI_SWI1
• SWF_XI_SWI14
• SWF_XI_SWI6
• SWF_XI_SWI2_DIAG
• SWF_XI_SWPR

  • Queries on Business Process Monitoring (BPM) & Interface Monitoring

    Dear all,
I have got a few queries on the subject and would greatly appreciate any valuable inputs.
Before I proceed, want to clarify that I have downloaded all overtly available  documents (PDFs, SIMs) from the following URLs:
    http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman
    http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager  Media Library
    http://service.sap.com/bpm Media Library
I may not have read them all though since I come from a Functional angle.
Kindly reply to whatever query you can please. Not all of them are sequential.
    Queries:
    (1) How are Interfaces with External Systems (beyond the firewall of the enterprise) monitored ?
    (2) Is it really worth listing all such External Systems as Logical Components in their own right ? I guess this makes sense if at a Process Step level, one wants to list a 'specific' Logical Component involved instead of 'generic' term like External System. However, it would benefit only if Interface Monitoring is feasible; isn't it ?
    (3) There are Interfaces which are built between SAP and External System and serve various Business Processes under various Business Scenarios. In such circumstances,  it is not easy to list which Process 'owns' the Interface. Therefore, under a normal Implementation Project structure (SOLAR02), choosing a particular Process Step, getting into 'Development' Tab and listing the Interface Program name may not be feasible, since there is no particular place where it belongs.
Is it therefore a good idea to create namesake Scenario for capturing all interfaces and list a library of all interfaces and store documents right there ? If so, will these namesake processes be of any use in BPM at a later date ?
    (4) If my primary objective is to accomplish Interface Monitoring and not Business Process Monitoring per se, is it a good idea to create a new Solution Landscape, and manually create Business Processes that are suited to list Interfaces than to assign Template or Implementation Project to the Solution Landscape, and inherit those Processes ?
    (5) What is it that a SAP Competence (Support) Centre will find as a 'major' gain in activating BPM to monitor Interfaces alone - is there something that SolMan's BPM based Interface Monitoring gives more than what PI level reporting may provide them with ?
    (6) In Interfaces with Non-SAP Systems (some of them are old/ proprietary legacy systems with Credit Card companies; some of them are like 'Active Directory' servers), is it possible to define Metrics for BPM that such systems will contribute to SolMan, for reporting purposes ? Or, is it too much to hope for
Thanks again, for your patience and advance thanks for your kind responses.

    Hi,
    Welcome to BPM
You have asked too many questions in a single Post, Please read rules of engagement before posting
You can monitor the following without any trouble.
    ●      ALE/EDI
    ●      qRFC
    1) Its obvious, if your firewall blocks all your request to external enterprise, it is not possible to monitor.
    3) These interfaces are not the one related to development tab in SOLAR02, you have to map them from BPM.
    4) Yes, you don't have to depend on any project for your processes, you can add it in your Solution Landscape.
    5) Post a Separate Thread!!!
    6) Post a Separate Thread!!!
Hope this gives a better idea.

  • Problem monitoring BPM

    Hi Friends
I have made the File to File  scenario using  BPM ,
I can se the file is being picked up by the sender cc , but no further things happened
When I try to monitor the BPM wih SXMB_MONI_BPE  it says no work item exists.
I can se message in SXI_MONITOR , but when I click in the tab PE it shows 0 in the number of queu and number of entries displayed
Do i need to do any settings before executing any BPM scenario?
    Please let me know.

    Hi Prateek
    Thanks for the quick answer.
    the cache shows green.
it is a simple File to File scenario , we have installed a new PI system and I want to try to run BPM , and I found  the blog Walkthrough with BPM

  • SM Interface Monitoring (BPM)

    Hi,
O.K I have setup successfully the BPM in SOLMAN for cancelled, delayed ..etc mintoring but interafce monitoring for IDOC's seems abit elusive.
For a standard IDOC monitoring (i.e. by message type and status), does anyone know the requried steps to implement as part of a BPM activity.
I know that BPM has an Interface step but need better understanding of the required steps for activate monitoring.
    Thanks

    Hi Marco,
Follow these steps as a guide:
To setup BPM you have to define:
    (1) Business Process
    (2) Steps
    (3) Details business process
    (4) Activate BPM
You setup 1-3 in Solution Landscape-->Solution Landscape maintenance. This setup is site specific.
I'm assuning your logical components have been setup in SMSY.
Final steps will be actvating BPM. Note if 1-3 haven't been done, you wont see the list in activate BPM for that particular process.
Also see "service.sap.com/bpm" for detailed instructions.
    Hope this helps.

  • BPM Monitoring of IDOCs

    Hello all,
I have a scenario with 100 IDOCs and I map the IDOCs in ccBPM. But if somehow a mapping process for one of the IDOCs in ccBPM goes wrong you get an error (a red flag) for all of the other 99 IDOCs.
My question is then how can we monitor which and why the IDOC went wrong without opening all of the IDOCs?
    I have tried SXMB_MONI --> Process --> PE --> Technical details
But I havent found my solution.
    Has anyone any suggestion?
    Kind Regards,
    Kamran Vakili

I checked this, It's not a solution when error's occur in the transformation step (mapping).
I have the same problem. I guess there is no solution for monitoring BPM when messages go wrong.
Anyone an idea? The only error you get from BPM when transformations goes wrong is:
    com/sap/xi/tf/_mm_IDOC_Orders05_naar_Orderbestand~
    com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeExceptionRu
    ntimeException in Message-Mapping transformatio~
    Regards,
    Luc
    Found the solution:
Go to technical details -> scroll down to bottom -> double click on “show container” -> Double click on TRACE -> Double click on Value under Object Type (in my cause CL) -> Now you see what went wrong in the message and which message went wrong.

  • Doubt in BPM monitoring

    Hi guys,
I'm doing a file 2 file BPM, where in my sender file has a record tag 1: unbounded containing two sub tags FNAMe and LNAME. I need multiple files to be generated at my output depending on the occurence of the record tag in my input.
I have completed my scenario, and when i place the file in my input folder, it is getting picked also.
I'm seeing the message in sxmb_moni. However i don't see any monitoring for my BPM. I'm not getting any output file in my destination.
Can anyone please help me on the steps to debug this
    Thanks guys

    Dear friends,
I am keen to know how to monitor the workflow in  BPM. I mean when we clicl PE IN SXMB _MONI it will open Workflow log.
I wish to know monitioring process of workflow.

    Hi Karthik,
If you want to monitor details of the BPM with technical details or workflow log or messages inside the BPM then either you can use SXMB_MONI_BPE or you can go from SXMB_MONI->PE->Technical Details
    Please check the follwoing document.....

  • BPM for error handling and acknowledgements

    Hi,
Can any one tell me how to handle BPM for error handling and acknowledgements in one scenario.
Please send me the link if you have other wise give me the solution on the same.
    Thanks,
    Nagesh

    Hi !
Just check out these links This might help you.
Usually Application Level Acknowledgement is considered during Sync communication. If you are using RFC, you can make use of Sync communication. So you can handle it without bpm, provided your both sender and receiver are sync interfaces.
    To know about Ack-
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/f4/8620c6b58c422c960c53f3ed71b432/content.htm
you can not dirrectly access the content of the ACK, however the BPM shows different behaviours based on the ACK status. E.g. if the ACK contains a success message the BPM will continue in its normal process, if the ACK contains a permanent error, it will either stop or go through an exception branch (provided such a branch has been defined). Have a look at the documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/65ce41ae343e2be10000000a1553f6/content.htm It doesnt"t state the above mentioned behaviour in detail but says that you need to define an exception branch.
The trickiest part is always to find out, when you will get a transient vs. as permanent error ack. If you are using ACKs with Proxies refer also to this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/29/345d3b7c32a527e10000000a114084/content.htm and this http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f4/8620c6b58c422c960c53f3ed71b432/content.htm

  • Calling Stored Procedure in BPM

    Hi All,
I am trying to call a Stored Procedure in BPM.
I have a scenario in which after JDBC receiver step i want to call a stored procedure which does some manipulation.(Plz note that SP doesn't need any parameters as Input and returns nothing).
Now i have done following steps:
    1) Created a datatype with SP name as element and action as  attribute having value "Execute".
    2) Created Message Type
    3) Created Abs Asynch interface
4)Mapping( same message is mapped to itself)
5)In Integration Process created a send step
6)Created a container with abstract interface
    7) In Directory created service and channel
    8) Reciver determination with sender service as IP and receiver service
    9) Interface determination with sender service as IP n receiver service with  receiver channel
    10) Receiver agreement with sender service as IP n receiver service with  receiver channel.
But Outbound status of my message is sent to be scheduled.
and in message monitoring i can find
    "<Trace level="1" type="T">no interface found</Trace> "
Can anybody suggest me is anything wrong in steps?
How should i  monitor BPM to know what exactly is going wrong?
    Thanks,

  • BPM problem in PI (XI 7.0)

    Hi guys!
I have a scenario, where I use BPM. The underlying system is PI 7.0 (NW 2004s). I send Idoc from r/3, send it into bpm, this should make a sync call to web service and the ws response is mapped to ather idoc and sent again into r/3.
I created all the necessary objects in repository and directory and have a problem - when I send the Idoc, it is received by XI, but not processed... the status of the message is Scheduled. In the receiver interface and receiver there are no values in spite i have configured receiver and interface determination...
This is already the 2nd PI, where I have this problem. In the first one I was able to ommit the BPM, but here I am not. Does someone have the same experience? Problems with BPM in PI7.0?
I was looking also on the workbench component monitor - BPM - tha status is yellow triangle.. Sub-parts with NONgreen light are:
    Maintain prefix numbers
    Configure RFC destination
Schedule background job for missed deadlines
Schedule background job for work items with errors
Schedule background job for event queue
Schedule background job for clearing report
Schedule background job for deadline monitoring
How to fix these problems? is there any guide? Is it a task for basis person or consultant?
Thanx a lot for answer! Points are guaranteed
    Olian

    hi Olian,
as you are saying like your message came upto XI , but not proccessed so may be its a problem of queue so to <b> TCode::SMQ1 and SMQ2 and clear this QUEUE.</b>
hope this will solve this issue.
your one prob is <b>Configure RFC destination</b>
    <b>so check in R/3 sys Tcode : SM59 for RFC Destination</b>
can you make remote login and connection test , if not so make technical Setting Properly.
    hope this will help
    regards

  • Using ARIS process models as the foundation for Business Process Monitoring

    Hello,
Do anyone know if you can use IDS Scheer ARIS process models and the integration between IDS Scheer ARIS and SAP Solution Manager as the starting point for end-to-end Business Process Monitoring (BPM) so that you get the process description/model automatically in Solution Manager BPM and just need to configure the monitoring (more or less that you monitor against the modelled process in ARIS)?
Is there an API for SAP Solution Manager BPM so that non-SAP solutions/systems can be part of the end-to-end process monitoring?
If not, how do you usually integrate non-SAP solutions that are part of an end-to-end process that you want to monitor into SAP Solution Manager BPM, or do you not use Solution Manager BPM for this?
What is the roadmap for SAP around SAP Solution Manager BPM when it comes to non-SAP systems/applications/solutions and the new SAP NetWeaver BPM functionality?
    Regards,
    Markus Johansson

    Hello Markus,
I just paste my answer form the other forum entry Re: Business process management strategy in SAP?
in a nutshell BPM Netweaver is focussing on so called edge-processes (usually
SOA-based and often workflow related). These edge-processes a thought to enhance exisitng core business processes and should provide the fast competitive edge versus competitors. Examples would be also xApps. For this Netweaver provides process modelling tools, where you can get exectuable code through the integration between CE and PI. The monitoring part for these processes is mainly targeting business end-users and business manager.
Business Process Monitoring with Solution Manager focusses on core business processes which are realized with the "conventional", "old" SAP Architecture, e.g. Order-to-Cash or Procure-to-Pay. You get a combination of technical monitors (average response times of transactions, background job runtimes, monitors for IDOC or qRFC processing) and application related monitors (you get more than 200 pre-configured application monitors out-of-the-box like number of overdue customer orders or outbound deliveries or number of deliveries with goods issue posted but no invoice). The target group here is the support organization of the customer, from Basis-Support over application support on IT side to process owner on business department side.
Overview presentations can be found under
    https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information -->
    "Business Process Monitoring - Part 1 & 2".
    Or look under https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-processmonitoring
In the end BPM Netweaver and BPMon SolMan are complementary for different purposes and different target groups.

  • BPM PI 7.1

    Hi All,
Can you please give me any simple BPM scenerio that can can be implemented easily?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Shweta,
    > 1.What shall I mention in the Communication Channel in the Source directory?
Create a file communication channel as you do for other integrations. Create a sample xml file from MM_File_to_File mapping test tab. Use the same file in your source directory.
    > Can I use Receiver agreement for the communication channel and skip creating communication channel?I
No you cannot do like this. Receiver agreement and communication channels are both are different. Communication is used to pick and create your file. Receiver agreement is the binding between your interfaces and communication cahnnel. Please see sap help on this.
    > If so then I have created 2 receiver determinations 1 with the Outbound Interface and 2 with the Abstract Interface
You will create 2 receiver deteriminatins. one between your outbound interface and integration process and another between Integration process and inbound interface. You need to have one outbound, one abstract and one inbound message interface.
    >If I mention the source directoy as the path in my system will it give error?
If you mean from your desktop, then you need do to ftp which connects from your desktop to xi. If you dont have then better put the file in shared directory on xi server or any other server and then read the file.
    > I am confused with the monitoring mentioned in the blog.
It is a very straight forward document for monitoring bpm shweta. Since you are new you are having trouble. Also please see this document and see it is helpful for you:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/elearn?rid=/library/uuid/1db5e190-0201-0010-1c90-d9de570c6b18&overridelayout=true
    (see slide 17 for bpm)
I would suggest you to exactly create the datatypes, message interfaces etc the same as given in the blog. once you complete then you will have an idea and then can differ what ever you want then.
    Regards,
    ---Satish
