Monitoring load distribution across multiple cores?

In SLS is it possible to peek at the load distribution across the cores of a multicore CPU?
Thanks?

  • Load balancing across multiple machines

I am looking for assistance in configuring Tuxedo to perform load balancing across
multiple machines. I have successfully performed load balancing for a service
across different servers hosted on one machine but not to another server that's
    hosted on a different machine.
Any assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

    Hello, Christina.
Load balancing with multiple machines is a little bit different than
in the same machine. One of the important resource in this kind
of application is network bandwidth, so tuxedo tries to keep the
traffic among the machines as low as possible. So, it only
balance the load (call services in other machine) in case all the
services are busy in the machine where they are call.
I mean, if you have workstation clients attached only to one
machine, then tuxedo will call services in this machine untill
    all servers are busy.
If you want load balancing, try to put one WSL in each machine,
and the corresponding configuration in your WSC ( with the | to
make tuxedo randomly choose one or the other) or spread your
native clients among all the machines.
And so, be carefull with the routing!

  • Load balancing across multiple paths to Internet

    Hello,
I have a 2821 router. Currently, I have two bonded T-1 circuits to the Internet.
I would like to add a DSL circuit to augment the T1s. I would also like to load balance across all of the circuits. Currently, IOS performs inherent load balancing for the T1 circuits. The DSL circuit is from a different provider than the T1s.
The T1s are coming from a local ISP that runs no routing protocols within their infrastructure. (They run static routes and rely on the upstream provider for BGP.) The DSL provider is a national telecom carrier.
What is the best way to perform load balancing for this scenario?

Here is the answer (sort of) for anyone reading this post with the same question:
No matter which way I choose to do it, the trick is to have the local ISP subnet advertised via BGP through both pipes. The national telecom DSL provider will not advertise a /20 subnet down a DSL pipe. (Ahh, why not? =:)
Had the secondary pipe been a T-1,T-3, or other traditional pipe, I could have used a load balancer like a BigIP, or FatPipe device or possibly CEF within the IOS.
Case closed. Thanks to everyone that took a look.
    Doug.

  • Load balancing across multiple application servers not working with JCo RFC

We have a problem where inbound messages to the Mapping Runtime engine (ABAP -> J2EE) are not load balanced over application servers. However, load balancing does take place across server nodes within one application server.
Our system comprises of the following:
Central Instance (2 X server nodes)
    Database Instance
2 X Dialog Instances (with 2 X server nodes each)
The 1st application server that starts is usually the one that is used for inbound messaging.
We have looked at the sap gateway configuration and have tried various options without much luck:
i.e.: local gateways vs. one central gateway, load balancing type by changing parameter gw/reg_lb_level, see: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/bb/9f12f24b9b11d189750000e8322d00/frameset.htm

  • OSPF load balancing across multiple port channels

I have googled/searched for this everywhere but haven't been able to find a solution. Forgive me if I leave something out but I will try to convey all relevant information. Hopefully someone can provide some insight and many thanks in advance.
I have three switches (A, B, and C) that are all running OSPF and LACP port channelling among themselves on a production network. Each port channel interface contains two physical interfaces and trunks a single vlan (so a vlan connecting each switch over a port channel). OSPF is running on each vlan interface.
    Switch A - ME3600
    Switch B - 3550
    Switch C - 3560G
This is just a small part of a much larger topology. This part forms a triangle, if you will, where A is the source and C is the destination. A and C connect directly via a port channel and are OSPF neighbors. A and B connect directly via a port channel and are OSPF neighbors. B and C connect directly via a port channel and are OSPF neighbors. Currently, all traffic from A to C traverses B. I would like to load balance traffic sourced from A with a destination of C on the direct link and on the links through B. If all traffic is passed through B, traffic is evenly split on the two interfaces on the port channel. If all traffic is pushed onto the direct A-C link, traffic is evenly balanced on the two interfaces on that port channel. If OSPF load balancing is configured on the two vlans from A (so A-C and A-B), the traffic is divided to each port channel but only one port on each port channel is utilized while the other one passes nothing. So half of each port channel remains unused. The port channel on B-C continues to load balance, evenly splitting the traffic received from half of the port channel from A.
A and C port channel load balancing is configured for src-dst-ip. B is a 3550 and does not have this option, so it is set to src-mac.
    Relevant configuration:
    Switch A:
    interface Port-channel1
    description Link to B
     port-type nni
     switchport trunk allowed vlan 11

This is more FYI. 10.82.4.0/24 is a subnet on switch C. The path to it is split across vlans 10 and 11 but once it hits the port channel interfaces only one side of each is chosen. I'd like to avoid creating more vlan interfaces but right now that appears to be the only way to load balance equally across the four interfaces out of switch A.

  • Load Balancing across Multiple DMZ's

Can you split one Css11503 across two separate DMZ's securely. I have a group of server that are currently being load balanced in one DMZ I now have a requirement to Load balance another set of server in another DMZ is it possible spilt the CSS across two DMZ's and still maintain a high level of Security

You need a separate CSS for each interface of the firewall.
If you use the same CSS for 2 DMZ, traffic inter DMZ will be routed by CSS and will bypass the firewall.

  • Dynamic port channel and load distribution across the interfaces on th trunk.

    WS-C3750G-48TS
    NOS-12.2(25)SEE2
I have a dynamic port channenl setup on Cisco+NetApp environemt where i have 6 interfaces(1Gbps) on that trunk for load balancing and reduntancy reason.
But i see the interfaces are not balanced on receives or inbound. I mean most of them are going to only 2 interfaces and other four are almost doing nothing.
I am assuming netapp ports serves the way how Cisco instructs. How i can remediate this situation? What am i missing here?

I have alerady mentioned "lacp" in my my last post. Also my understanding  LB is set at switch side , not at filer side. Becase i dont have config at filer side. Also loooking the link there also  dont see a config which says use a particular LB.But the article clearly says to use "ip load balace", no clue though where it is set.  hence my question what is the default LB used/set at switch side. http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/ontap/rel727/html/ontap/nag/7vifs3.htm https://communities.netapp.com/community/netapp-blogs/sanbytes/blog/2011/12/13/what-value-does-the-leading-fc-switch-vendor-bring-to-ethernet-guest-post-by-brocade http://blog.ioshints.info/2011/04/brocade-vcs-fabric-has-almost-perfect.html may be a good reads i guess.

  • Load balancing across DMZs - Revisited

I know this question has been asked before and the answer is to have separate content switches per DMZ in order to maintain the security policy. There is an option to have the content switch in front of the firewall and then use only one content switch to load balance across multiple DMZs. Is this an acceptable design or the recommendation is to have a separate content switch behind the firewall for each DMZ of the firewall?
Can a Cisco 6500 with CSM be configured for multiple layer 2 load balanced VLANs thus achieving a mutiple DMZ load balancing scenario with only one switch/CSM?

How do you connect the router to the firewall ?
Problem is the response from the server to a client on the internet.
Traffic needs to get back to the CSS and if the firewall default gateway is the router, the response will not go to the CSS and the CSS will reset it.
If you configure the default gateway of the firewall to be the CSS, than all traffic from your network to the outside will go through the CSS.
This could be a concern as well.
If you don't need to know the ip address of the client for your reporting, you can enable client nat on the CSS to guarantee that server response is sent to the css without having the firewall default gateway pointing at the CSS.
    Gilles.

  • IPTV load balancing across broadcast servers.

I know that across Archive servers in the same cluster that IPTV control server will load balance , is there is a similar function with Broadcast servers. I know broadcast servers use a different delivery mechanism (Multicast). We have multiple broadcast servers that take in an identical live stream, but the only way to advertise thru a URL is a seperate URL per server. Is there some way to hide the multiple URL's to the client population?

No. There is no way to load balance across multiple broadcast servers for live streams. Since this is going to be multicast, there should not be any additional load on the servers when the number of users are more.

  • Load balancing across database connection

Do you provide load balancing across database connections and allow RDBMS load
    balancing for read only access?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Cluster Apex MS's across multiple nodes for load balancing?

Can Cluster Apex MS's across multiple nodes for load balancing? If Yes/No, any supportive doc's will be much appreciated.
Here is what I did ..........
I tried multiple MS's on different nodes for Apex Domain (clustered)
Deployed apex.war, i.war with targets pointing to cluster.
Apex listener techstack is shared filesystem $HOME/apex, where apex-config.xml and bdb are available
Anyone of the MS's whichever started up first is locking up bdb and 500 server shows up when internal workspace is being launched with host specific url, where as it works fine for the host which actually locked up bdb (first MS that was started)
2nd MS shows errors as below in log files ..
Caused By: com.sleepycat.je.EnvironmentLockedException: (JE 4.0.103)$HOME/apex/bdb The environment cannot be locked for single writer access. ENV_LOCKED: The je.lck file could not be locked. Environment is invalid and must be closed.
Its expected behavior until here .....
++++ I tried something to get it working ++++
Whilst both MS's are up and running, delete $HOME/apex/bdb but let apex-config,xml be as it is...now the internal workspace urls for both hosts work fine. I logged into host specific urls and navigated, created/edited users.,etc and it is all looking good but it did not create new bdb directory under $HOME/apex ...!!
Having said its working fine, the same issue repeats after the MS's bounce. So I did put a command line to delete bdb dir once the MS comes up to avoid the issue but really not sure if this is the right way at all?
    Geek's ...awaiting your advice!!

    Hey there,
I managed to fulfill my requirement..
If its a cluster on same machine or across machines, this should work
    1. Login to machine, cd $DOMAIN_HOME
    2. mkdir -p Apex_lsn_config/AdminServer Apex_lsn_config/<MS1> Apex_lsn_config/<MS2> # MS1 and MS2 are the Managed Server names as appropriate
#If you are planning for cluster spawning MS's across machines, make sure you create the dir's on step 2 for each machine respectively. (in my case $DOMAIN_HOME is not shared)
    3. Copy apex-config.xml from the /tmp/apex or whatever location you have it currently to Apex_lsn_config/<MS1> Apex_lsn_config/<MS2>
    4. cd $DOMAIN_HOME/bin; cp -p SetDomainEnv.sh SetDomainEnv.sh.orig #Backup the file
    5. Append -Djava.io.tmpdir in SetDomainEnv.sh as below for JAVA_OPTIONS # Do it on both machine if you are not sharing DOMAIN_HOME and planning cluster across machines
    -Djava.io.tmpdir=$DOMAIN_HOME/APEX_CONFIG/${SERVER_NAME}
Hint: Search for "iterativeDev" and append the same line with -Djava.jo.tmpdir
    6. Modify "java.io.tmpdir" from the web.xml file of apex.war as below and re-deploy the war
    <context-param>
         <param-name>config.dir</param-name>
         <param-value>${java.io.tmpdir}</param-value>
    </context-param>
    7. Bounce Weblogic Admin and Manged Servers. Make sure to tail the Managed Server log to see apex-config.xml is picked from the new location.
    8. Brew a Coffee for yourself :)
    - You find the instructions on creating a cluster from weblogic documentation, the steps mentioned above are only to overcome the bdb locking issue whilst creating a cluster.
    Did it help?

  • Load balancing Internet and Site to Site VPN's across Multiple ISP.

    Hi Everyone,
We  are currently connected to a single ISP with different Internet related  services like mail, web, dns and IPSEC site to site VPN's running. We  would be adding another ISP and do load balancing across these multiple  links. We are using Cisco ASA firewall.
Can anyone suggest a load  balancer which can not only provide load balancing of the links but  failover as well for mail, web and IPSEC Site to Site VPN's. I came  across Peplink that can achieve this but I guess I will have to  decommision our ASA in order to install Peplink.
Check attached diagram, this will be our proposed design.
    Regards

    Hi Sundeep,
The simplest solution would be to put an IOS router (or two with HSRP) between the ASA and the ISPs and do policy-based routing for your flows between the 2 ISPs. Otherwise, any load balancer should work fine with the ASA. If failover of the load balancer is a requirement, you'll need to look at product specific documentation for whichever solution you choose.

  • Capture performance metrics across multiple servers

Hello. I'm still very new to Powershell but anyone know of a good Powershell v.3 -4 script that can capture performance metrics across multiple servers with an emphasis on HPC (high performance computing) and gen up a helpful report, perhaps in HTML or Excel
    format?
Closest thing I've found and used is this line of powershell:
    http://www.microsoftpro.nl/2013/11/21/powershell-performance-monitor-on-multiple-remote-computers/
Maybe figure out a way to present that in better format, such as HTML or Excel.
Also, if someone can suggest some performance metrics to look at with an HPC perspective. For example, if a CPU is running at 100 utilization, figure out if which cores are running high, see how many threads are queued waiting for CPU time, etc...

As far as formatting is concerned,
ConvertTo-HTML is a basic HTML output format, but you can spice it up as much as you like:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff730936.aspx
Out-Grid is very functional and pretty simple:
    http://powertoe.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/out-gridview-now-has-a-passthru-parameter/
    Here's an example with Excel:
    Excel
    Worksheets Example
This might be a good reference for HPC, I don't have access to an HPC environment so I can't offer much advice there.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff950195.aspx
It might be better to keep unrelated questions separate, so a thread doesn't focus on one question and you lose time getting an answer to another.
I hope this post has helped!

  • Simultaneously triggered acquisition: Multiple PXIe-7962R + NI-5734 cards, across multiple PXIe-1085 chasses

    Hi all,
    I need to do high-frequency, high-channel-count acquisition.
    Specs
    Signals: 10 MHz, 60 channels
    Controller: PXIe-8135 (Windows 7)
    Chasses: PXIe-1085 (2x)
Input cards: PXIe-7962R FlexRIO base with NI-5734 digitizer (15x)
    Description
Each FlexRIO card will store data in circular buffers, and continuously monitor the voltage levels. When any one channel exceeds the user-defined threshold, all 60 channels need to be triggered simultaneously to pass waveform data (200 μs pre-trigger, 300 μs post-trigger) to the host OS for logging.
In other words, every FlexRIO card needs the ability to fire the trigger, which is then received by all 15 FlexRIO cards (the card that fires the trigger also needs to receive the trigger).
    Question
Can I achieve this with only a single PFI line? Or do I need some other technique?
I've found some examples, but they only show single-source and single-card triggering, e.g. https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-30182 uses one analogue input to trigger the acquisition of 2 channels on the same card.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Assuming you are using LV 2013 or 2014 you should download version 1.3.4 of the FlexRIO Instrument Development Library (FIDL). This will install 5734 Acquisition Engine examples which use the MultiRecord Library to stream data to the DRAM in a circular buffer, allowing you to recover pre-trigger samples. The example also demonstrate how to implement the Syncrhonization Library that synchronizes triggered acquisition to within a single sample period across multiple devices.
Getting the example to work across two chassis' may be difficult, but I believe it is possible. Though to do so you will need a timing and sync module in each chassis to distribute the triggers and reference clock that the sycnrhonization library requires.

  • Matching across multiple character sets

Would like to know whether anyone has attempted matching across multiple character sets, for example, between English and Japanese: what are the pitfalls to avoid, what are the best practices, and what you would like to see from application/tools perspective as an ideal solution. thanks

If you upgrade to Logic Pro, you'll get WaveBurner as part of the package which helps you do this, including tweaking your pauses between tracks, fades etc.
If you have Toast, you can do it there too.
If you don't have any 3rd. party software, the work around would be to assemble all your songs in order, end to end in a new Logic file, and listen to all your tracks and adjust the relative levels between songs, then bounce out the individual tracks which have volume changes with their new volume settings. Finally you could then use any burning app such as [SimplyBurns|http://bit.ly/c1oglP] to create CDs or bounce them out in Logic with the additional .mp3 option.
Obviously it's important to listen to your material in order, in context, as some songs will be at the wrong subjective level depending on the tracks either side in the placement. This isn't really important in digital distribution where your material probably won't be listened to as a whole, but as individual downloads.
