More items in "recent places" list when attaching documents?

Hello,
I find it very useful to have the "recent places" list when browsing for a file I want to attach to an e-mail. In almost all of the other programs I use, however, the recent places list seems to have about twice as many listed as the Mail program. Is there a way to increase the number of items in the recent places list?

The feature request that I would be asking for would be to add to the number of items that appear in the "recent places" list when you go to attach a document to an e-mail. I am a graphic designer, and use the Adobe programs most of the time, and they seem to have about 10 (as opposed to 5) items in the recent places list. Since I jump from project to project, I have several "recent places" and it is a handy and time-saving way of browsing for recently "browsed-for" items. Unfortunately, I find that 5 items it not quite enough-- in going to a new place, the least "recent place" gets bumped off the list. A recent places list of 10 seems to work really well (which is also the number used by Eudora, which I recently gave up in favor of Mail).

Recent Places list under Save As...

When I do a Save or Save As..... the Mac window usually defaults to a folder location for placing the file. Maybe the last folder I was in. When you click on the Folder pop-down window you see the path to the current folder.. .But you also see a list of folders and locations called RECENT PLACES. Can someone help with this? I am frequently saving emails and word docs back and forth to different locations. But when I do so, my Recent Places list does NOT show the recent folders I've been to. It presents some folders, all right, but I cannot figure how it has selected those. (If you type "Recent Places" into the Mac's built-in HELP search window, it produces no text!) How do you control this feature -- set default folders, control how many recent places are shown, and in what order? (the kinds of things we used to do with Boomerang!) I found a November 2005 post here where someone suggested removing some "Launch Service" pref files that are supposedly in the Caches folder. Not on my mac they aren't. Help anyone? A tech note somewhere on this OS feature?

For example, in one application I use, the list under Recent Places shows folders into which I've recently saved documents edited in that application. In the case of TextEdit, I can't determine exactly what logic it's using to populate Recent Places.
As you note, it's undocumented in Mac Help. The only documentation I've found for this is in the Apple Human Interface Guidelines, in the section concerning "Dialogs," where it is defined for both the Open and Save dialogs as:"...the five most recent folders the user opened or saved documents to..."and where it is further qualified by"Note: Recent Places (in the Where pop-up menu of a Save dialog) does not record folders selected in Choose dialogs."This may explain the behavior I've observed in TextEdit where the Recent Places are not folders in which I saved TextEdit documents, but other folders where the Save dialog was used in other applications. This list also differs from the Finder > Go > Recent Folders list.
Since the behavior can be customized at the application level (per the developer documentation) this would also appear to explain why, in some applications, I see a list of Recent Places that is specific to that application.

- Works in an application-specific way, defined by the developer through customization of the dialogs and coding.
- Is built, by default, based on other locations from which/to which you've opened/saved files using the Open/Save dialogs.
If you want to create a set of locations that will work across the Open and Save dialogs in all applications that use such, add those folders to your Finder Sidebar. You can then select them from the Sidebar that appears in the Open and Save dialogs.

Since upgrading to ios8, pages very slow to load, and can no longer read items in my reading list when offline. ?????

SI since upgrading to ios8, Safari pages are very slow to load, Kindle crashes upon opening, and I can no longer read saved artices from my reading list when offline. Big disappointment. Is it possible to downgrade to previous ios?

I actually managed to fix it! But unfortunately I don't know what I was that I did that helped.
Anyways, this is kind of what I did.
1. I tried to reset form bakup via iTunes, no change.
2. I tried to reset as a new iPhone, problem still there and reading list also as bookmarks!? (several hundred)
3. Noticed that I could delete a bookmark, once in a while, the other times I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
4. Because I figured that it was a memory problem, I thought it made sense to delete as many as possible, witch I did.
5. Noticed that it was more likely that I coould delete a bookmark if I restarted Safari.
6. Notice that it was even more likely that I could delete a bookmark if I turned the Safari sync with iCould off (with option detete information on iPhone) and then back on again.
7. When I was about half way through deleting the bookmark list I suddenly discovered that all but one of the items in my reading list was 'waiting' and one was downloading. I kind of was 'unstuck' now.
8. I started to delete items in my reading list, but every other time I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
9. It took a while to delete all bookmarks and items in the reading list.
Hope you guys could use the info here to fix your problems too!

Error "One or more items can't be copied" when backing up to USB hard drive

I just bought a 160 GB USB2 external hard drive for use with my PowerBook. It seems to work just fine for the most part, as long as I'm working with one or two files at a time.
One motivation for the purchase, however, was backups. The first thing I wanted to back up was my home folder. Feeling like the savvy Macintosh user I logged out of my account and logged back in as the root user, and dragged my Home folder to the external HD. After watching it "prepare" to copy for a few minutes it started. Then stopped almost immediately with the warning "One or more items can't be copied. Do you want to skip them and copy the remaining items?"
Seeing as how I didn't know which items stopped the copy, I didn't want to skip them. A backup with holes is not a backup.
Thinking I'd bitten off too much, I started moving one folder at a time. Music, Documents, etc. But each folder ran into the same error.
I've tried dragging folders over from inside my own account, thinking that perhaps root (yes, I know this sounds absurd) didn't have privlidges. No go, I still run into the error, even when copying files I know aren't in use (my Music folder, for example, when iTunes isn't running).
I have way too much in that folder to drag individual files for backup. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? I have another 10 days to return this HD, and if I don't get this working soon I see no reason to keep it.

This problem can occur for several reasons. One, is that you aren't logged in as the root user. Keep in mind that your admin account does not convey root user privileges. Second, when trying to copy system files that are in use you will get that error. Third, you cannot make a proper clone of your system using drag and drop. Instead do the following:
First, prep the external drive properly:
1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
Next, create the clone:
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the startup volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Drag the startup volume to the Source entry field.
5. Select the backup volume from the leftside list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Keep in mind that according to Apple you cannot start up OS X from a USB drive. If one of your goals was to be able to boot from the external drive, then you should have purchased a Firewire drive.

Update item in SharePoint 2010 list when a entry made in SQL server

I have four lists on a SharePoint 2010 site. There is a column - Equipment Name - in each of the lists. I want only this column to be updated in all the lists, when a new entry is made in SQL server.

Let’s verify the following:
Whether your four lists are external list with SQL Server data source. If not, you can’t sync the list with SQL Server.
External list items are sync from data source, they keep sync all the time.
Whether you aren’t want to perform CRUD in the list. You can select some of them instead of using all of them.
You can create all of the column from the four lists in your SQL Server database table, and then create four external lists with that table as data source.
Modify view-> in each external list check the columns which you want display in every list. Then you can update the “Equipment” column in each external list.

When attaching documents using GOS send them with workflow

Hello experts,
I have a scenario. We have to attach documents to SAP application using GOS. These documents can be edited also.
Now second part is that when we attach the document or edit the document, the document should be send with the work item "when we attach the document".
The first part of the scenario is completed and working fine. The second part of the scenario is causing problem. I have checked the various options but none of them are proving helpful.
There is an option in GOS toolbar to send the documents through workflow but that also asks for the related workflow.
I was trying to create an event for GOS object which can trigger the workflow automatically when the attachment are created and edited but can not go further with it as not so strong in workflow.
I request you to kindly help me either in creating this event which will trigger the workflow (whole process) or any other method to do the same.

Thank you for replying. The main problem is starting the workflow. For that I need to create an event and that is my biggest trouble. I have seen the object IFSAP already. There are no events in it and as such I have created my custom object as super type.
So I need to create the event from scratch.

Create workflow to email all users added to a sharepoint list when a document is created / modified

Hello,
I need to have a list, lets call it List A, that is used as a collection of users which will recieve an email when a document that is added or modified in a different library, Library A. Essentially I want the workflow to parse all of the users added
to List A and email them upon the modification or addition of a document to Library A.
I know how to setup the email but i dont know how to parse the list and create a dataset of all the users so i can set that in the To field of the email.

Hi Marc,
As I understand, you have a list to store user accounts, and you would like to send email to the user accounts in this list via a workflow associated with another library.
In my test, I didn't get all values of person or group value of all items in a list which is used to store user accounts.
I'd recommend you use a SharePoint group to replace the function of the list which store user accounts. Then in the workflow, you could send email to this group and the message will be sent to indivisual members of this group.

Issue at Portal when attaching document.

Hi all,
We have a Portal configured with SSO to SRM 6.0. The SSO works with SRM, but when we try to attach documents with SRM shopping card, a password prompt happens.
The SSO was configured fine. Still the password prompt is happening.
Any suggestions or hints would be really great.

Please check your authorisation . You don't have authorisation to attach a document.
In SSO it should ask for a password second time

Mail crashing when attaching documents

A friend of mine is having a problem with her iBook. When she tries to attach documents to messages, about 75% of the time Mail will instantly crash. There isn't anything particularly odd about these documents, as they're essentially always just Word docs.
This started happening a few weeks ago on 10.4.5. She upgraded to 10.4.6 but that didn't fix it.
Any ideas?

Error when attaching Documents during Process Control to Submit Data

Hi,
In HFM 411 the user's were able to attach documents (that were earlier uploaded to Custom Documents) in the Process Control while submitting the Data. In 931 they receive an error message that says it is unable to change the review level. However tehy are able to submit the data without attaching documents.
The security set-up seems to be fine, as the admin receives an error message as well, but this time it says "Invalid Javascript returned by the server".
Anyone any idea?

I (as administrator) manage to attach document at every step of review level process.
Can you check that MaxNumDocAttachments and MaxDocAttachmentSize are correctly set up in the metadata (application settings).
Besides HFM User Guide stands : "To attach or extract any custom documents to or from the server, you must be assigned the Manage Custom Documents security role."

Sharepoint Designer Copy list item over to new list when certain value is met

Hi,
I am copying over an item in one list over to a new list once it meets certain criteria. I have attached the workflow of what I am trying to do here. I have also attached a screenshot of the list on which I am moving item. The list I am moving item
to is identical.
For some reason however this is not working for me. What is happening is when I change the value of 'Current Status' to anyying at all the item is moving. I only want the item to move when it is set to 'Solution Agreed'.

I have two list “CustomList001” and “CustomList002”. The list contains two column “Title” and “Current Status”(Choice type). Then I create a workflow for “CustomList001”.

Unusual items in 'recents' Maps list

For some reason I keep seeing unusual addresses in the recents list on Maps. These can't be cleared using the 'clear all' button.
The most recent unknown address appears to be Apple's European head office with the text 'From Find My iPhone' underneath. (Image link attached)

Sometimes unknown addresses appear with 'From Facebook' underneath them, which suggests that the Facebook app is placing these addresses in my recents list, even though I've never viewed them.
After a few days they simply disappear.
Anyone else have this issue?

How to delete items in the "Places" list in Finder?

In Finder, in the left column, I have several entries under "Places" which do not belong on this MacMini. When I click on them I get the message "The volume for xxxx cannot be found". Nor can I delete them from "places". I also fear that this is the reason that the MacMini now is exceedingly slow, i.e. spinning color wheels on end.
These items in "Places" might have gotten on the Mini when I did some synchronization via .Mac with my PowerBook (where these Places make sense), but I would not have any idea which setting could have caused this.
Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

How is ALE working when attached document into MM01/MM02 (MATMAS? DOCMAS?)

u2022     SAP Document Management System (DMS) via CV01n/CV02n/CV03n
u2022     SAP Material Management (MM) via MM01/MM02/MM03 with u201CDocument Datau201D view in u201CAdditional Datau201D in order to assign a Document Data to a material
u2022     SAP ALE (iDocs) related to document linking with material (MATMAS ? DOCMAS ? etc.)
We need today to understand more the process of linking a document to a material and u201Ctransportu201D the change data through iDocs:
- DOCMAS is apparently transporting changes done on documents in CV01n/CV02n.
- MATMAS, ZMATMAS or ZMATMASR do not seem to transport any changes about documents linked to material into "Document Data" tab of "Additional Data" button in MM01/MM02
So,
- how can we detect changes done into "Document Data" tab of MM01/MM02 and transport via iDocs ?
- Moreover, which data should be transported ( document number, etc.) ?

have you created your webtemplate with the WAD 7.0? Then you can only access it via the "new" Bex Web Java runtime with this URL:

The path /sap/bw/BEx points to the "old" ABAP runtime.
But why do you want to integrate your template in the BPS web page, anyway? If you put your application into the portal, you can create a page in the portal with an iView for BPS and a second iView for the Bex 7.0 webtemplate. I think this would be much more convenient.
