More tabs than 5 with a tab bar controller

When you create a tabbar based app using the template from the sdk you can see all your tabs (14 in my case) along the bottom in IB. See image:
However when you compile and run the app you get only 4 and a more button. I would like to display all 14 at once as I don't think the more construction is very user friendly (at least not on an iPad in landscape mode ).
Any suggestions

Is there such an obvious answer to this that no one deigns to answer? Or is it really not possible? Do I have create my own version in IB? One window along the bottom containing a number of buttons and when one of the buttons is selected the corresponding xib is loaded in the large window above it. So basically what tabbar template does but without the bells and whistles and all hand coded.

  • I loose focus on tab pages with horizontal scroll bar

    Hello
I am using a form with two tab pages. On the second tab page there is a multirecord block from which the first 5 columns are context (always visible)), the other columns are working with a horizontal scrollbar. When I navigate to another window and come back to the first one, then the context columns are still there, but all the other columns are gone, there is only a big grey space. Any suggestions ? Webforms 10gR1.

Not sure why that is happening. Are you running the newest JInitiator? What browser are you using?
Maybe as a workaround, you may have to save the current record before leaving the first form, then when you return to the first form, requery the block and go to the current record. That's assuming, that a requery fixes the problem...

  • When a PDF is opened in a tab, my laptop's touchpad scroll stops working for other tabs. (But works perfectly fine on the pdf tab or with every tab after closing the pdf tab)

My touchpad scroll was not working many times after i installed firefox 6. But it works perfectly fine in other browsers at the same time.
After some playing around, i found that this problem occurs only when a pdf is open in some tab (The scrolling works in pdf's tab but not in other tabs). Once that particular tab is closed, the scrolling starts working properly.

Using similar scroll function on my netbook. To add to the above, I find that using scroll is actually causing the PDF to scroll rather than the tab I'm actually in.
Reader 9 is installed on my Win7 Starter.

  • Have a tab group with 18 tabs. When all tabs open scrolling through them is very slow. Any thoughts.

I use the scroll wheel on my mouse. When I scroll with the wheel there is a major lag time and most of the time it scrolls past several tabs.

  • Tabs created with CMFCTabCtrl::STYLE_3D style didn't display the whole tab labels

    Hi,
We use tab controls with multiple tabs created with CMFCTabCtrl::STYLE_3D style, but the tab labels are not displayed completely. For instance, the label should be "Process Control", but the tab header shows only part of it ""Process
    C...".
How can I make the whole label being displayed?
    Thanks.
    MJ

    Hi mj118802,
I think this is a by design issue, Form the picture, there is no enough space to show all your tab with the long label text. If you persiste want to use  CMFCTabCtrl::STYLE_3D style, you may need to draw your own CMFCTabCtrl.
Please think about to use CMFCTabCtrl::STYLE_3D_SCROLLED style, see the picture.
    This is not too bad.

  • Tab Strip with multiple views refresh issue

I have created a tab strip with two tabs.  Each tab has a view container element.  Each view has an iFrame which points to an ABAP report exposed as a web service (url).  I put a refresh button on the first view which fires an outbound plug which is directed to the same view.  This refreshes the first view just fine.  However, it also refreshes the second view.  I don't want to refresh the second view.  Is there a way around this?

    Hello Kenneth,
i would try another way and use [Suspend&Resume|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/45/19bf8c16f25d7ae10000000a11466f/content.htm]. But that works only on component-level. So i would create 3 components A,B,C.
Comp A has a tabstrip and inside each tab a ViewContainer Element (VCUI). Inside the VCUI's you call (the used) components B and C using Suspend & Resume Plugs. Components B and C only have one view each with an iframe calling the specific report.
So you can refresh both components differently.
    Kind regards, Andreas

  • Tab canvas with required fields (problem)

    hi,
I am using tab canvas with 5 tabs with diff blocks.
    receive
    issue
    adjust
    return
    view
some fields are required in all tabs.
when i run the form and in RETURN TAB and enter some data and click the save button the cursor goes to receive tab and focus the required fields with a message
    FIELD MUST BE ENTER
    same for issue tab also...
i dont want to enter any thing there ..
    how i manage it
    thanks

Not sure if I understand you correctly. You say some fields are required in all tabs, but also that you 'don't want to enter anything here'. Do you mean that the fields are required, but only if you're entering data on that specific tab? I.e. you don't have to enter all of the tabs.
If that's the case, are all the tabs based on the same block, or different blocks?

  • "Manually manage music and videos" takes up more space than syncing?

    Hello all,
I fear that I am just stupid and unseeing an obvious answer to this query, but ask I shall, because it is frustrating me to no end.
I recently downloaded a few audiobooks from my local library to listen to on my iPod Touch; the app in question requires that you "manually manage music and videos" rather than syncing. Fine.
I switch over to iTunes, check the box, and now my music--without changing anything, mind--is now taking up an additional 1.8 (or more) gigs on my iPod. I toggle the option to "manually manage" on and off, and with it "on", my music takes up more space than with it "off", even though it's the same music, same podcasts.
Can someone please explain to me why syncing manually takes up more space than syncing automatically and where the extra gigs are coming from? There's not that much audio on my iPod--1.52 gb of music, 1.97 gb of podcasts and .69 gb of apps--which only adds up to 4.18 gb, and on an 8g touch, should leave me with about 4 gb of "wiggle room", so to speak, rather than .27 gb.
    Help, please!

iTunes will normally put just one copy of each file on the iPod and link it to multiple playlists. If your iPod's database has been corrupted at some point however, there may be unattached copies of your meadia from earlier sync attempts, taking up space on the drive, but not visible in the library. How much space does iTunes report for Other? Excluding files placed manually & intentionally on the iPod, "other" is typically an overhead of 1%-2% of the size of the media and represents the iPod database, artwork, games etc. If you have significantly larger amounts of "other" then you will need to restore your iPod in order to reclaim the space.

  • Sound output has more bass than old model

    Hello
I've just purchased a new MAC PRO. I've noticed that the sound in the headphones has a lot more bass presence than the old model.
    Anyone else found this
In iTunes, eq is Flat or off. I can't find anything else that would changed the sound quality
    Thanks

"- 16-bit, 44.1Khz - the sound was not quite as "wide" as the 24 bit files, but the kick drum, bass guitar, and even the snare sounded markedly more full and punchy. The bass line could be heard un-interrupted pulsing at the bottom."
The "wide" is perfectly understandable since our perception of depth and width relies a lot on low-level ambient cues that could easily be lost in a 16-bit system vs a 24-bit system.
The other part is harder...just another man's theory here, but if we were to take this to extremes...say a 3-bit system: off, soft and loud.
It would be true then that anything over a certain input level threshhold would be assigned as a "loud" bit. Could that make certain characteristics and sounds appear more "punchy"? Obviously, there are 2 to the 16th power levels of resolution in a 16-bit byte, but I'm just wondering if this concept could affect the perception more so than with a 24-bit system.
Another factor to consider is that 12-bit systems would generally have more distortion in the analog section than a high-end 24-bit converter. Distortion can definitely affect the perception of both loudness and 'punchiness'. Remember, the signal goes through analog circuits before it hits the converter chip. That analog portion is pretty critical to how the system sounds.
That's why two a/d converters can use the same converter chips and even the same clocks, but still sound different.

  • More than 5 tabs in tab bar controller

    Hi,
I'm totally at a lost trying to get 6 tabs connected to my tab bar controller, which was created using the tab bar controller template.  Everything thing works fine with 5 view controllers.  When I add a 6th view controller I get the "More" tab in the 5th position, which when touched opens up a table view showing 2 more tabs for the user to choose from.  Touching either row in this table view causes the app to crash.  The error reads:

Any help or direction will not go unappreciated I've scoured the web and this forum for an answer I can understand.  I did get bits of code and explanations regarding using:
        UIViewController *moreViewController = tabBarController.moreNavigationController.topViewController;

But, it's wasn't enough me to understand how to piece it all together.

Open Xcode, then click on 'Window', click on 'Organizer'.
Then click on the Documentation icon.
    Seach for 'viewcontroller'.
Read and study the documentation for the various flavors of viewcontrollers.
Then try applying some of your newfound knowledge your code and see what happens.
I've found that trying a few ideas based on what I've read about is the best way to learn.  Be prepared to make lots and lots of mistakes;  You'll learn something from each one.
Above all, be patient.  This technology can't be learned in a day or a week or even a month.  It may take months before you have that 'aha!' moment.  Once you do, it will start making sense.

  • Using multiple UIWebView objects with a Tab Bar Controller.

So, I'm pretty new to this cocoa touch language and seem to be hitting a road block.
I have an application that will use a Tab Bar Controller as a navigation. Each tab will display a different UIWebView object that's been linked to their own URL's. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get past the first UIWebView. If they're all the same object, with the same name, how can I set a different url for each??
I've been going nuts over this for the past few hours and can't find any documentation online so any help would be AMAZING. Thank you very much.

They're not the same object. You alloc and setup each UIWebView independently.
UIWebView is just a view so set it up the same way you would if you had a tabbar with multiple views.
The default template has 2 views as I recall. Change the UIViews to UIWebView. As you switch them in set the URL and have it load.

  • Problem with tab bar controller!

I'm fairly new to xcode (and programming for that matter) so please bear with me!
I'm creating a utilities app and would like to put tabs on the flipside view controller. a normal push segue to a tab bar controller from the flipside doesn't seem to do the job when I run it.
I'm not sure if I need to put a tab bar on the flipside view controller itself and connect it using coding? If so, how? Or is there another solution?
    Thanks in advance!

I have an application based on the Tab Bar template as well, yet mine works. I also have views created via IB for each tab, but there are a series of connections which need to be made for the viewDidLoad method to be called. I made some notes along the way, perhaps they are helpful.
In these notes, what I did was create the Tab Bar project, but I didn't like the way the views were set up, so I created a series of new views, added them the way I preferred (all from files, all the same view, including the first view), and then deleted the two default views.
    - Create a Tab Bar project.
    - With XCode, create a new UIViewController for the new first view, save it, add it to the project.
    - In IB, create a new view, save it, and add it to the project.
    - In the new view's File's Owner, set the class to the new view controller.
    - Connect the view outlet to the new view created.
    - Go to the tab bar control in the MainWindow.xib and create a new view controller.
    - Select the new tab button, and type in tab name and xib filename (without the extension).
    - Compile and run. With a label in the new view, it is easy to see if it works.
Let me know if you find the problem.

  • Tab bar based app, with 4 tabs each linking to a different navigation menu

    Hi,
Im new to coding and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a problem im having. Im trying ot get 4 tabs accross the bottom in a tabbar with each one linking to a navigation page. Im trying to get 5 topics on each navigation page which go into more detail to another page when clicked. so 4 tabs x 5 topics x 5 more detailed topics. I have tried the O'Rilley tutorial and could make a tabbar with 2 tabs. but I cant do 4, can anyone help?
    Thank you all in advance.

Hi Sunny, and welcome to the Dev Forum!
If you're using [Elisabeth Robson's tutorial|http://broadcast.oreilly.com/2009/06/tab-bars-and-navigation-bars-t.ht ml], it looks like a nice job (for a different tutorial, please let us know if we can find it online). I generally start with the Tab Bar Application template, since it does almost all the work of setting up the skeleton. But you'll certainly learn more starting with the minimal, Window-based App template, which is the purpose of a tutorial.
The easiest way to add a new tab is to find the required controller type in the Library and drag it into the tab bar. I think you want a UINavigationController there, so choose that one from the Controllers section of the Library. You can drag the nav controller icon into either window (i.e. the Tab Bar Controller editor window or the xib window). When dragging into the xib window, you can choose the new controller's position by where you drop it in the small icon tree. (Btw, I might have missed this in the tutorial, but make sure the xib window is displaying two columns with a small icon tree to the left. This is done by setting the View Mode switch to the center position). You can also add tabs by opening the Attributes Inspector when the tab bar controller is selected and clicking "+" under the View Controllers table.
Once you have your additional nav controllers added, build onto each one the same way you did with tab 2. If that's the only place you were stuck, you should be on your way in a few minutes.

  • How do i stop the search tab from changing other tabs other than just the one with focus?

everytime i use the search bar located next to the web address, it will change other tabs to the results of my search and not just my tab of focus. how do i stop this? it's never done this before and has only started doing it this week.

Hello and thanks everyone for your replies.  I was able to get it working using the Optimizer method.  I'll look into setting it in the Distiller though.  We'll also make sure everyone that modifies the pdf's have a more recent version of Acrobat because the older versions are giving a "bad parameter" error message.  This solves that but better to upgrade.
I'm converting from Word to pdf and the security gets set on the pdf because that is the files we use externally.  I just don't want anyone changing the content; we figured the pdf is a bit more secure than the MS Word security!
    Thanks again!
