More than 5 computers?

Well, I'm almost certain I already know the answer to this but here's a try anyway:
The five machine limit on iTunes isn't enough! I have two iMacs (one for me, one for my wife), a Mac Pro that I use for a media server/video editing rig, a Mac Mini on my TV, a Macbook Air for travel and a Macbook Pro 17" for mobile media projects. That's 6 Macs. In addition, my kids both have Windows laptops which makes a total of 8 copies of iTunes running in my house. We all share the same account since we all enjoy each other's music and watch many of the same TV shows. But I have to choose which 5 I want to authorize.
I know, I know, boo hoo, the poor guy with six Macs is put out by Apple. But, putting that aside - is there any provision whatsoever for this situation? For example, can I pay for some kind of "iTunes Pro" account or something that will let me have more than 5 machines authorized? Or does anyone have a strategy that I can use short of constantly authorizing and deauthorizing computers?

there is something i don't understand and i don't comprehend with these Apple ppl, not only they sell you a phone that does not support most of normal functions that already exist in early times phones, but on top of that all off, they sell you a phone and take you hostage of your own product. you can't do this, you can't do that....W T F
what is the logic behind this 5 computers (Bull**) what if i need to use 10000 computers!! what if the music i am using is not legit!! it's none of their business, i have the right to use my music, videos...etc the way i feel with the phone i bought, i mean what's wrong with these people, what now, apple is becoming the new copyright police?
all these restrictions that apple use with all it's products give only a legitimate reason to pirates and hackers to continue doing what they are doing.

Hello, I have a MBP (mid 12 model), a brand new MBA (mid 13), and Mac Mini, four laptop PCs and 2 more Desktop PCs (I have teenage daughters and my wife)...
I intend for one of the PC's to be a "server" I have a large library that certainly does not fit on the MBA, or the MBP. To share the library the client has to be authorized.
I am currently using all of my authorizations... is there a way to get more? (I can't move content to another account I am assuming...)

They probably set up a limit so people don't go around and authorize all their friends' and relatives' computers to one account, and somehow arrived at the number 5 to limit (probably because most families won't have more than one computer per person and 2 parents + 2.5 children rounds up to 5).

You cannot.
Authorization applies ONLY to computers. Ipods/ipads/iphones/Apple TVS are NOT authorized at all.

Problems deploying Windows 7 x64 computers with more than 8GB RAM

We have a weird problem after upgrading from SP1 to R2 CU1. We have built a Windows 7 64 bit image with the latest updates (currently September 2014 updates). It deploys fine to all computers. But after some days – don’t know exactly – guess after 4-7 days
- we start getting errors on computers with more than 8 GB of RAM. The errors just start out of the blue. We didn't change TS, image or driver package.
The error shows in 3 different ways – depending of the computer model.
1) BSOD – STOP 0x000000F4. Disk error.
2) Task Sequence error 0x87D00269 when installing the first Application in TS. The error seems to have something to do with Management Point not found.
3) Task Sequence simply stops after installing CMclient. No errors - it simply stops.
For instance we get the BSOD on the Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p. But on the ThinkCentre M83 we get the TS error 0x87D00269. M93p and M83 uses the same driver package. They consequently fail every time after the error has begun. If we reduce (remove physically)
the memory to max. 8GB of RAM, they successfully run the Task Sequence. We get the above errors on both Lenovo and HP machines with more than 8GB.
I made a copy of the production TS and started testing. I created a new driver package for M93p/M83. It contains only the NIC drivers. Now M93p an M83 successfully finishes the TS. Adding sata or chipset or MEI/SOL drivers to the package I get the 0x87D00269
error on both m93p and M83. At least not the BSOD on the M93p ;-)
Tried setting SMSTSMPListRequestTimeout to 180 in the TS. Also tried putting in a 5 minute break before installing the first Application in the TS. Also tried putting in SMSMP=mp1.mydomain in the installation properties for the CMclient. It is still
the same problem.

Investegating the 0x87D00269 error on the siteservers Status Messages Queries is weird.
Install Static Applications failed, hr=0x87d00269. The operating system reported error 617: You have attempted to change your password to one that you have used in the past. The policy of your user account does not allow this. Please select a password that
you have not previously used.
Hopefully this is a bug in translating the errorcodes? Just to be sure I checked all the SCCM serviceaccounts and none of them have expired passwords. And again why only on computers with more than 8GB RAM.
Anyone else had problems rolling computers with more than 8GB og RAM?
Why does this happens after a few days? To begin with, it runs just perfect and then starts failing on all machines with more than 8GB. Without a change in TS, image and driverpackage. We have seen this pattern for the last 3 month after
updating our image with the latest Windows Updates. It all started after updating from SP1 to R2 CU1.
Why does it only affect machines with more than 8GB RAM?
How to get rid of the 0x87D00269 error?
Seems to be somehow related to driver installation mechanism in SCCM in combination with Windows 7 64 bit, +8GB RAM and SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 or perhaps just R2.
Any help or hints would be appreciated!

We have the same workaround, using a x64 boot image resolved all our issues with WinPE 5.0.

No updates from Microsoft, they are still looking through the logs, but we have updated our boot images and all is well now. Our case it still open with Microsoft, they are researching the logs.

I assume these are POP accounts and all computers are set to remove from Server after downloading.
So on the non dominant ones... Mail Preferences>Accounts, highlight an account, Advanced tab, uncheck remove from Server, just have the main dominant one remove from server.
Or get/setup IMAP accounts.

Cannot observe more than 12 computers at a time in ARD 3.7.1

I am currently running 10.9.4 on 17 iMacs (2014) and am using ARD 3.7.2 (Server Side) and 3.7.1 (Client Side) in my classroom.
I am trying to observe (have a real-time view) of 16 of the iMacs in one window at the same time. There are options to observe up to 50 (I assume at the same time as it strikes me as odd to have to select the number of macs I want to observe in total when I can do that directly form the main window by highlighting as many as I want and hitting observe.) The problem is that no matter how big I make the window, lower the quality of the view, or disable addition information such as computer name, I cannot get more that 12 to show at a time. I am able to swap between pages only if I select to view 12 or less. If select to view more than 12, the "Play Forward" "Stop" and "Play Backward" icons grey out and become un-usable.
Has anyone encountered this problem and found a way to resolve it? I really need to see all the computers at once to keep an eye on things.

It seems the maximum number of copies possible in Reader X is indeed 999. You can request Adobe to change that.
A temporary workaround could be to print using a script and a loop, but that might over-flow the printer since it will not be 1 command to print 1000 times, but 1000 commands to print 1 time, for example.

I have a 16GB san disc that when more than half full and trying to download to my Mac gives a "communication error" message. How can I seamlessly upgrade the computers software to handle SDHC cards of this size?

There isn't currently a way of seeing a list of which computers are authorised, but have you had other computers in the past and/or upgraded the OS on your computers without first deauthorising them ? Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but as you have multiple computers authorised then you can log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need.

Adobe thinks I have more than two computers

I recently purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium. I only have two Windows computers. One is running 64 bit Vista Ultimate and the other one (a laptop) is running Vista Home Edition. I installed the Adobe suite on both machines without issue. I took my laptop over to Peet's to use it and now when I come home to use it on the other computer, I get a big message box saying:
Excuse the interruption, but:
Our records indicate that this serial number has already been used to set up and activate Creative Suite 4 Production Premium on two other machines, which is the maximum allowed.
You have 30 days from today to correct this problem.
I called in to the support number and they are showing that it has been activated on 6 different computers now.
The only thing I can think of is that someone at Peet's was able to steal my serial number through some hacker magic maybe eavesdropping over the wireless somehow?
Please help! Is this a known issue or something?
This software was way too expensive to have this happen. I am not a pirate, I didn't give the number to anyone. I didn't expose the serial number anywhere knowingly or accidentally.

One thing I did notice is that the Adobe updater failed to complete it's activities on my 64 bit machine. Sometimes the 64 bit machine has trouble because there are not enough drivers written for it. Maybe it's something like that? Please help.

Sorry to hear about your problem.
A few observations and questions.
(1) The Adobe Creative Suite requires Vista Home Premium as a minimum configuration. Hopefully your notebook system is
not running Vista Home Basic. The fact that it installed would indicate that you are probably running Vista Home Premium.
(2) Exactly where and how did you purchase the CS4 Production Premium? Was it in a sealed box from Adobe or a authorized dealer or was it from eBay or some Warez site?
(3) The fact that it activated on more than two systems is indicative of at least four of the six systems attempted activation using some type of hacked version of the software.
(4) Adobe's communication between your system and Adobe for activation is secure, but obviously, someone may have hacked your system to record keystrokes or otherwise capture data from your system.
Assuming that you indeed made your purchase via a reputable source (i.e., either directly from Adobe or from an authorized dealer) and that you have a receipt for your purchase, I would recommend that you contact Adobe Customer Support, explain the situation and your suspicions and offer to send them a copy of your receipt or a fax of same. They should be able to fix the situation via supplying you with a new serial number and let you enter that number on both your installations and let them reactivate with the new serial number. Make sure you get the names of any persons you speak with at Adobe Customer Support and if you encounter any problems ask to speak with a supervisor. (If you still can't get anywhere with those folks, contact me offline via e-mail and I'll see what I can do to assist.)
In the meantime, I would most strongly recommend that you thoroughly scan your system for viruses, trojans, keyloggers, etc. with updated virus scan definitions and with any one of a number of programs such as "SpyBot" (a free spyware scanner) that can search and destroy any problematic crud that may be infecting your system. You should also make sure you have effective firewall software if you frequent public WiFi locations.

My household has 5 laptops and a Mac Server, plus 6 iPhones, 3 iPads & 5 apple tv's. However we can't access the shared library on all devices because Apple will only allow 5 pc's to be authorised. When I purchased the server I was told it wouldn't count towards the number of pc's - NOT TRUE! I had to authorise the server so now we have one person who can't watch anything on her macbook. C'mon Apple. We've spent the equivalent of a small country's national debt to you - surely there must be a workaround for genuine situations like this - just check my purchase history! Not to mention the thousands of $$ we've spent on iTunes.....

You are not addressing Apple or its employees here, only fellow product users.

It states this:
Authorizing and deauthorizing a computer allows you to manage which computers can sync or use apps, audiobooks, books, music, movies, or other content you've purchased from the iTunes Store.
You can use or sync your purchases from the iTunes Store on up to five different computers (these can be any mix of Macintosh or Windows-compatible computers). When you sync or play an item you've purchased, your computer is "authorized" for purchase using your Apple ID.
This has everything to do with the laws of the entertainment industry, Apple simply has to follow the law. I'm very sorry to burst that bubble, but I'm quite sure there's no 'workaround' to accomplish what you're trying to do. There is no Apple supported way to authorise more than five computers.
It's probably not what you want to hear, but hope this information helps

I have a new Dell laptop running Vista. I waited until a new version of iTunes came out and downloaded 7.1 this morning. I backed up all my songs which has been successful and it looks like the album cover art is there too.
I continue to get this message which says:
You cannot authorize more than 5 computers...
You have already authorized 5 computers with this account. to authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers.
I read the KB article and quite frankly am totally confused. My old laptop has been reformatted and given to a friend. iTunes was not installed on it.
How do I get rid of this annoying message? Should I attempt to synch up my Nano or wait first until I get help with this message. Sorry the KB about deauthorizing and authorizing is very confusing to me.
All I'm doing is trying to get my iTunes installed on a new laptop restored with all my old songs.
