Motion 4 - copy motion path?

Hello All,
Is there a way to copy an object's motion path to a paint stroke for write-on?
I have an object that moves from point A to point B in a nice arc (keyframed path)
I want to use this exact path, and have a stroke/paint stroke write on as the object moves from point A to
point B following the arc from the objects motion path.
I can do this with a straight line, etc, but have not yet discovered how to have my "line" follow my moving
object.  I have also done this by "drawing" a line, but I cannot match the path well drawing freehand, etc.
I thought this would be "easy".
thanks,
eholz1

Hello Todd,
I think I have tried this, but perhaps not from the keyframe editor.
I will give it a shot, and let you know if it works.... Stand by ... trying now...
Well, almost figured out - but tricky (at least for me!)  This is only for the path, I have not
figured out how to add a stroke to the path, etc.
I did the following:
I created a new layer called "Tracking Line".  I added a "link" to the position parameters of the moving ball (with
the arc path)  Right click position under the object's parameters in the inspector.  I selected the moving ball for the shape parameter for the link.
Then I got a path that follows the arc, but.  I had to change the offset parameters for x and y for the link.
So I have a path of sorts that matches the arc.
I have yet to see how to add a stroke to this.  It also my be all wrong!
Thanks and keep me posted.

  • Copy motion as actionscript 3.0

    Hi all,
    i have a small question.
    I am working on a movie with multiple timelines and i try to use the "copy motion as actionscript 3.0" feature. when prompted for "instance name" should i give exact location (meaning: "parent_movie.instance_name")? or simply the instance name on its own?
    (i am trying to control an animation of a nested movie clip from the main timeline using this feature... can't get it to work..)
    thanks,
    Eliad.

    here it is:

  • Cannot find 'copy motion as actionscript' in Flash CC

    Hi,
    I am trying to copy a tween animation to Actionscript 3.0 code using the instructions from this tutorial: Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Using ActionScript 3 | Adobe Developer Connection
    When I select the frames on the time line and right click the menu item "Copy Motion as ActionScript 3" is not there.
    I have a "Copy motion as XML" menu item in the Command menu, but can't find "Copy Motion as ActionScript 3" anywhere. Has it been deprecated? Or am I doing something wrong?
    Here is the XML code for my test file that get's generated:
    <Motion duration="24" xmlns="fl.motion.*" xmlns:geom="flash.geom.*" xmlns:filters="flash.filters.*">
      <source>
      <Source frameRate="24" x="266.45" y="350.4" scaleX="1" scaleY="1" rotation="0" elementType="movie clip" symbolName="Symbol 1">
      <dimensions>
      <geom:Rectangle left="0" top="0" width="71" height="71"/>
      </dimensions>
      <transformationPoint>
      <geom:Point x="0.4992957746478874" y="0.4992957746478874"/>
      </transformationPoint>
      </Source>
      </source>
      <Keyframe index="0">
      <color>
      <Color alphaMultiplier="0"/>
      </color>
      </Keyframe>
    </Motion>
    Kind Regards from Erlend

    i don't know why it was removed, but in general the adobe engineers had to decide which features from the 32bit flash pro (cs) should be added to the 64bit flash pro (cc).  and there were time-constraints so the more features carried-over, the long it would take to release cc.
    i don't know if it's better to use xml because i've never seen the need to use either feature, ever.  in fact, i don't use the flash timeline tweening and i don't use the flash tween class.  like many flash professionals, i use a 3rd party library from greensock, tweenlite (usually and lately tweenmax).
    and finally yes, cc subscribers can use flash pro cs6:  open your cc desktop app>click apps>filters&versions>previous versions>flash pro install>cs6.

  • How to I call "Copy motion as action script 3.0" from JSFL?

    I need to get result like I get from clicking "Copy Motion as ActionScript 3.0" from Flash CS4 context menu on a motion tween. I can not find it's declaration anywhere in JSFL. Can anyone help, please?
    P.S. The result should be formatted similar to this
    import fl.motion.AnimatorFactory;
    import fl.motion.MotionBase;
    import flash.filters.*;
    import flash.geom.Point;
    var __motion_Surface_15:MotionBase;
    if(__motion_Surface_15 == null) {
        import fl.motion.Motion;
        __motion_Surface_15 = new Motion();
        __motion_Surface_15.duration = 30;
    __motion_Surface_15.addFilterPropertyArray(0, "strength", [1.00], -1, -1);
    instead of having XML in it

    what problem are you having?

  • Sent my project to motion, did motion stuff, saved. Now back 2 FCP -how?

    The title says it. I just need to get my motion work to show up in FCP and I'm done. I followed a tutorial from macprovideo.com but it's not working. How do I do it?

    I'll have to go back and check some things. The thing I wanted to import was a bunch of animated titling that I did in motion independently of the FCP project. What I did was open FCP, send to Motion, in motion I copied the titling and fine tuned it to the video and then saved. When I toggled back to FCP none of it was there.
    I finally imported the motion file but it over-wrote my FCP video track and all my processing/filters with it. I went back to motion and disabled the video track (sent from FCP to motion without processing for some reason) that I used to fine tune the titles, then imported that sans video version. This allowed me to save all my FCP video filters and such. However none of it was exactly how I expected it to work.
    Was it the fact that I did all that titling in an independent project and then imported it into a new motion project that has caused my troubles?

  • Adding Effects like slow motion, fast motion etc...

    On the old imovie you could add animations, slow motion/fast motion, and other graphics to clips. How do you do the same with imove 08 most important the slow motion feature?

    I'm currently using iMovie 08 and I would switch to iMovie 06 but when I try to install it but the message "Please install iLife ’08 before installing iMovie HD 6" pops up. My computer went through a hard drive crash recently and when they replaced it I thought they popped in iLife '08 (hence being stuck with iMovie 08) but i dunno... suggestions?

  • Copying a path creates a duplicate graphic style

    When copying a path by using the the menu commands, if there is any graphic style associated with that path, a duplicate graphic style will be made.  We deal with copying hundreds of lines.  As a result, we are left with hundreds of graphics styles that are duplicates.  This slows the program down by a significant amount.  Is there any fix to this?  We do use the ALT shortcut when we can, which does not create duplicate graphic styles. But, there are some instances where this cannot be used.

    I'm going to take a guess here - if you create a brand new document and do not paste anything into it, but create a path, apply a Graphic Style, then copy and paste that path, you do not see this problem right?
    If that is correct, then my guess is that you frequently work with files where some of the content was created in a much older version of Illustrator and you should refer to this knowledge base article to see if it can help: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408008.html

  • Copy As Path

    I use the Copy As Path command from the shift+right-click menu in Windows Explorer a lot. Is there any way to get this command to show up on the regular context menu so that I don't need to hold Shift every time I want to get to it? I recall somewhere seeing a registry edit that would do this in Vista but I can't find it now...
    I'm also wondering if there might be any trick to copying the path without the quotes on either end. Usually the quotes are helpful, but there are cases where I need the path without the quotes.
    Thanks.

    Here's the solution I've ended up using which works pretty well for me and doesn't flash any command prompt windows:
    I created a small script using the Autohotkey (www.autohotkey.com) scripting language which just copies any argument passed to it to the clipboard. I then added the appropriate registry entries to add the commands to the right-click menu and pass the path as an argument to the sript.
    Here's the script file contents:
    #NoEnv ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.
    SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.
    SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.
    #NoTrayIcon
    clipboard=%1%
    and a sample registry file:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Copy Path\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\AutoHotkey\\AutoHotkey.exe\" \"D:\\Documents\\autohotkey\\Copy Path.ahk\" \"%1\""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Copy Path ""\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\AutoHotkey\\AutoHotkey.exe\" \"D:\\Documents\\autohotkey\\Copy Path.ahk\" \\\"\"%1\"\\\""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\Copy Path\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\AutoHotkey\\AutoHotkey.exe\" \"D:\\Documents\\autohotkey\\Copy Path.ahk\" \"%1\""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\Copy Path ""\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\AutoHotkey\\AutoHotkey.exe\" \"D:\\Documents\\autohotkey\\Copy Path.ahk\" \\\"\"%1\"\\\""
    You'd have to edit the registry file as appropriate for your needs/file location.
    I've uploaded a zip file with the script and .reg file as well as a compiled version of the script that you can use if you don't want to install Autohotkey on your system. Here's a link to the file:

  • Copying motion values between clips/sequences

    I have a few sequences where I use still images for backgrounds.
    Is there any way to copy paste the values in the Motion tab (scale and center) between clips and sequences?
    Now I have to double-click one clip, remember the values for scaling, position, etc and then switch to another seqeunce, open the corresponding clip and enter the values. Quite time-consuming and the risk for errors are at lest present.
    So, any tips are greatly appreciated!

    Yes! Here is an easy to way to copy and paste attributes.

  • Copying motion keyframe attributes

    I'm sure there's a way to do this, I think I've even seen it done in a tutorial, but I'm at a loss: after performing a motion track on a short clip, I wanted to veeery slightly move the video that had the track attributes pasted to it.  How do I copy the keyframe attributes from the one frame I moved it onto all the other keyframes?  288 frame clip, so rather not go frame-by-frame, but if I copy the attributes of just the one frame, won't it stay in the same spot for the whole clip instead of moving?

    If I understand your situatiuon properly, here's what to do:
    Undo the movement of that one keyframe
    Select ALL the keyframes
    With the timeline cursor over one of the keyframes, nudge the layer using the cursor up-down-right-left keys
    Everything moves the same amount.

  • Motion 5: Circular path

    I am new to Motion and am still playing around with it. I know how to modify FCPX themes in Motion 5 and take them back into FCPX but that's about all.
    Now, I want to see if I can do this - and this is just an example but knowing how to do this will let me do lots of other things:
    I have a transparent png file of a rose. I want to place this rose on a circular path and rotate it. However, I cannot fathom how to do a circular path in Motion OR how to put the rose on the path.

    Add behavior>motion path>circle. Depending on what effect you're trying to create, you may add another behavior, snap alignment to motion and/or adjust the position of the anchor point on your PNG.
    There are invariably multiple ways to create effects and the above is just one.
    The Motion manual is pretty informative and a good reference. To get a good understanding of Motion's fundamentals is important and I suggest that a video tutorial from someone like Ripple Training or Lynda,com…or a written tutorial (like Mark Spencer's) are cost-effective ways to achieve that understanding.
    Good luck.

  • Copying Motion Tab Parameters

    Is there anyway to copy the parameters of the Motion Tab in FCP. I have a long video slide show that I want to add a drop shadow to every still with the same Drop Shadow parameters. I could do it in Photoshop but it would be a terrible pain. Resizing 200+ photos and adding an alpha channeled drop shadow is way too much work for this project. Any hints.

    Control-click / select copy on a clip that has the parameters you want, then select all other clips you want to apply the parameters to and hit control-click / paste attributes / choose the attributes you want to paste.
    Be advised about the 'Scale attribute times', if any of your actions are keyframed...if it's simply applying a specific drop shadow, you can leave this checked...it only affects items that change over time.

  • Slow motion / fast motion in Premiere Elements 13

    I read that in Premiere Elements 13 fast motion (and I think also slow motion) ist removed. Is that correct. And if yes: Is there any workaround available?

    rr
    Thanks for the reply.
    Great information. If you have been using Ctrl+R, that is the keyboard shortcut that brings up the Time Stretch dialog.
    Time Stretch (use of the Ctrl+R) has not been removed from Premiere Elements 13 Expert workspace.
    Like Premiere Elements 11, Time Stretch is found in the Expert workspace and not in the Quick workspace.
    When you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+R, I get Time Stretch dialog from where I can create the slow or fast motion effect in the selected clip.
    The following relates to Premiere Elements Timelapse Capture (Stop Motion) which has been removed from
    Premiere Elements 13 as a specific feature that you see in Premiere Elements 11 and 12.
    Adobe Premiere Elements 11 * Capture stop-motion and time-lapse video
    Please let me know if you are OK with the above information.
    Thank you.

  • No motion in motion menus 4.2

    My motion menus (the drop zones from the templates) don't show up when I simulate or build ... the motion menu tap is checked ...they do show up when I replace them with a still (motion menu unchecked) . I just upgraded to 4.2 is this an up grade issue do I need another update ? Any ideas . This was an issue with version 2 or something but was solved with an update ....if memory serves me correctly.

    Hi Rory
    this issuse has been posted earlier, it happened to me on two earlier updates to DVDSP, you can try opening preferences-menu-field rendering, change from hardware based to software based or vise versa, then retry your motion menus.
    Dosen't make sense but it worked for me, and some others.

  • Motion 4: Motion tracking a moving mask

    I'm making a video for our church which is a knockoff of the E-Trade babies commercials. I have a segment of it done which you can see here using the password "jaymack":
    http://www.vimeo.com/26897268
    As you can see, I'm dealing with both a moving baby as well as a moving adult.  To do this, I make a bezier mask around the adult's lips (actually the beard also in the example shown). Then I Analyze Motion using the baby's nostrils, and Match Move the masked adult lips to the desired location.
    It worked fine on the first two that I did. I only arranged the mask control points (the red dots) every few frames, and had no problem.
    But the third adult had a bit more side to side movement of their head. So instead of just grabbing the red points on the mask, sometimes I grabbed the entire mask (the white rectangle surrounding my red mask) and dragged it along with appropriate keyframes.
    Now the lips properly track until it hits a point where I moved the white rectangle, where it goes off target. (It's still the adult mouth, but the adult mouth has slid up to the baby's cheek.) Is there any way of correcting this, short of only dragging control points throughout the keyframing process?

    Re-shoot and have the actor do it right...
    OR
    I'm thinking playing around with the stabilize behavior...
    OR perhaps if you analyze motion on the head the moves too much, then make a shape and set the match move to the shape... I don't know, I've not done that before so I'm just thinking out loud...
    The other thing you could do if the above don't work, make some guides to mark the first position of the mouth... hit A key (record) then about every 10 frames  drag the image so the mouth falls on the guides... then go in and fine tune.
