Mount / Sync in Linux

I'd like to be able to copy music to my device & grab photos off it using USB.  The only trouble is, I'm using Ubuntu GNU/Linux.
I can develop BB10 apps just fine using Linux using official tools - so why isn't there anything to manage a BlackBerry 10 device?
lsusb gives the USB device ID as 0fca:8020
Is the only way to connect to it via WiFi (which does work, albeit slowly)?
Thanks

If you go into you Settings>Storage and Access and turn on USB Mass Storage. The computer should recognize your device. This works if you have a micro SD card in the phone. You can then transfer files back and forth with ease.
I'm using Mepis Linux (Debian) and Dolphin recognizes the micro SD card with no problems.
Unfortunately, can't seem to get the main memory to show up as a drive or something else to access it.
Edit: I access my Playbook thru wifi, by using the smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and this also works my Z10. It gives me my SD card, and two folders: certs and media. Not sure which Linux you are using, but I'm sure you can do it hte same way using whatever file explorer.
Also, you can utilize your PIN with smb. ie: smb://playbook-XXXX. XXXX=the last 4 of your PIN.

  • Mounting devices in linux with java

I am writing an application that is remotely like file-manager. In some situations that app needs to mount devices in Linux environment (run *nix-commands like 'mount /media/sda1' ) to ensure that attached devices are really available.
How can this be done with Java.
    Thanks,
    Pete

Runtime.exec lets you execute a native app, for more details and things that will likely go wrong see http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html
An option would be using JNI and writing a wrapper for the C-function. Without a doubt someone has already done this, so, as always... google is your friend... http://www.google.fi/search?q=java+unix+mount
    This looks promising: http://www.xenonsoft.demon.co.uk/products/javaunix/

  • Rsync errors when syncing from linux centos 5.1

I run this command to sync from linux directories to apple pc:
    rsync -arv --exclude-from="/Users/blwegrzyn/exclude.txt" --delete [email protected]:/shared3/ /DATA_BACKUP
during the copy i see files being copied
and if i run it again i see same files being copied again
so around 1% or less was not copied correctly
it looks like there are some special characters that macos does not like
what is the proper way to do rsync so files are copied correctly from linux to apple ? When I copy linux to linux i dont have any issues.
    thx
    Bart

for example directory that has character:
    (2006) Völkerball
cannot be copied and every time i run rsync it tries to copy it again
when i look at the destination folder I see that the directory actually was copied, but when i run rsync again , rsync deletes that directory and starts over
if i remove special characters it works
    i found this post:
    http://www.xelon.it/articles/rsync-mac-linux-windows/
so maybe the iconv is the switch that need to be used?
i cannot tell cause my centos is not compliled with iconv
i already compiled it for mac with iconv switch so i need to try on my linux to enable it and maybe it will solve the problem

  • Is there any way to sync to Linux

Is there anyway to sync the Playbook on my Linux machine?
Anyway to mount it over wifi?
Is there a way to upload/download files to/from the Playbook to Linux?
How can i transfer media from Linux to the Playbook?

You  can connect to it over wifi as a Windows (samba) share. Open up the playbook config app go to Storage and Sharing turn file sharing and wifi sharing on. Go to About -> Network dropdown and find your playbook IP address.
In linux then connect to a windows share in the normal way (if the distro uses Gnome then open a file browser and file->connect to server put in the ip address as the hostname, the username is playbook and the password you assigned. Tada.

  • How to create Mount Point in Linux

    Hi,
I m new to Linux OS, want to install Oracle EBS R12 on OEL 5.6 . I have downloaded s/w and installed all required packages for OEL.
Now i want to create Staging directory at location /u01/StageR12.
Can anyone guide me for how to create Mount point /u01 and how to assign space of 53 GB to it.... ?
    Reply awaited...

    You're on the right path.
Keep in mind though what you need partition wise just for o/s install. You should have at least 3 partitions:
    - a ?? GB partition for the / (root) mount (the size depends on what you will install and how much space you will need for running that s/w)
    - a 128MB or larger partition for the /boot mount
    - a ?? GB partition as swap space mount (typically rule of thumb is 2x RAM for 4GB and lower, else around 25% of total RAM)
I would not create separate partitions for the old-style +/u01+ mount points for Oracle. That part of the OFA (Oracle Flexible Architecture) standards are old and pre-ASM and pre- automated Oracle managed data files.
You need space for installing an Oracle Home. I do not see the need for a dedicated mount point for that. I use the root file system.
You need space for the actual database. If you use Oracle ASM, then I would create raw partitions (across disks) to be used for database storage. These will not be mounted or formatted. Instead these will be assigned to an ASM diskgroup (and striped by default) and used for database storage.
If you do not use ASM, then you need a cooked file system for storage of database file. In that case separate mount point(s) make sense. Also, it makes sense not to manually apply the old OFA standards, but instead use Oracle managed database files. In that case you need a single mount point (e.g.<i>/oracledb</i>) - and set that as the base directory for Oracle to use for the database. Oracle will create an OFA compliant database directory tree and files under that base directory/mount point.
Keep in mind that the more mount points you have for the database, the more difficult your job becomes to manage storage. The easiest is a single mount point for the database and using Oracle to manage the OFA compliant side for you on that mount point.
Also, you cannot and should not attempt some kind of manual striping layout of the database across multiple mountpoints. This may have made some sense back 10+ years ago. It no longer does.

  • Cannot Access Firefox Sync in Linux

I have installed the Sync add-on for my Ubuntu Linux desktop version 10.10. I have Firefox 4.0 for Linux installed. The add-on installs fine and I am able to complete the setup process. When I go to the Sync tab in Preferences I get a error stating "Incorrect account name or password". I've tried the reset and update options with no success. If I choose the "Sync Now" option from the new Firefox button, I get a status message on the bottom of the browser that states "Sync encountered an error while connecting: Incorrect account name or password". I've even tried setting up a new account with a different email address and the results are always the same.

If you are the only user then there is a easy way to have Plugins for browsers like Firefox. Make a plugins folder in .mozilla and place the libflashplayer.so there.
    ~/.mozilla/plugins/
Note that the current version of Flash player for Linux is 11.2.202.4'''42''' as older versions are on blocklist.

I have a disk formated by solaris(sparc),but the host is crashed, the only chose for me is mount the disk under linux system(RHEL5.6).
I have Upgraded the kernel,so Linux can recognize UFS.
But when I try to mount the UFS disk with command :
    *[root@sgfsd055 log]# mount -t ufs -o ufstype=sun,ro /dev/sdc3 /mnt/*
    I got :
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc3,
    missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
    dmesg | tail  or so
    When I cat /var/log/messages:

    Dear Sirs,
I have install linux Redhat5.3 release 2.6.18-128.el5PAE.i am trying to mount some of the drive of windows 7 on my linux system.
Someone can help me with the rpm for the same.

Use ntfs-3g package to mount ntfs drives into linux.
use following command at shell prompt
    $ mount -t /dev/sda1 /mnt/drive_win7
Please find your drive such as sda1 or sda2 or anything from fdisk command and press p to print and press q to quit.
Also, if you want to mount every time you login into linux system.
Then you have to change /etc/inittab file.
Google it out. Easy commands out there for newbies like me and you there.
    Regards,
    Dave.

  • Best NFS mount options from Linux to Xsan?

So we are adding Linux clients to our network and I'm looking to learn the best NFS mount options to put in the fstab file. Right now they are set "defaults 0 0" and we are having problems. I assume because they are hard mounting. This is from the /proc/mounts file for one of the clients connecting to the Xsan:
    10.X.X.X:/snet /snet nfs rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600, retrans=2,sec=sys,mountaddr=10.X.X.X,mountvers=3,mountport=706,mountproto=udp,ad dr=10.X.X.X 0 0
Xsan 2.2, 2 MDCs running 10.6.4, Promise Array.

So we have finally solved this. It turns out that the defaults work just fine. Our issues were solved by changing which MDC was hosting the export, dividing up the workload a bit, our primary was running out of RAM.
Secondly, I added intr and soft to the NFS options, the smoothed things out further.

  • Using dscl to mount nfs from linux ...

I've been trying to figure out how to use dscl to add a bunch of nfs mounted filesystems to my iMacs. The NFS disks are on a linux cluster. By adding the NFS systems using the Directory Utility and then listing the changes with dscl I was able to replicate a lot of the necessary steps. I am still missing some pieces though.
So far I've got the following:
    dscl . -create /mounts/host.server.ca:\/home
    dscl . -append /mounts/host.server.ca:\/home VFSLinkDir /Network/host/home
    dscl . -append /mounts/host.server.ca:\/home VFSOpts -P
dscl . -append /mounts/host.server.ca:\/home VFSType nfs
It looks like I also need a key called GeneratedUID but I have no idea how to create or retrieve the necessary value for that key.
Also there is the problem of forcing the system to see the changes. When I did this in the past with nicl (I've learned that this was pre OS X 10.5) I just forced the automounter restart with something like:
    sudo kill -1 `cat /var/run/automount.pid`
Is this still the right thing to do?
I've googled and checked Apple's Command Line docs but I don't really find anything helpful. The mounts that I've added with Directory Utility work fine but I would like to be able to make these changes without actually sitting at each machine and going through the steps on the GUI. With a script and Remote Desktop it would take moments to add the mounts to all of the macs at once. There are many references on the web to doing this with nicl ... please point me toward instructions using dscl.

for the guid, you might try a routine that spits one out from /usr/bin/uuidgen. as far as i can tell, that should work. i haven't tested, though.
i'm also not sure if killing the automounter is the best way to go. check here for some details: http://managingosx.wordpress.com/2007/12/13/more-on-autofs

  • Mounting dual boot linux partition from Arch [SOLVED]

    Hey guys,
I have just installed Arch for the first time and im wondering if someone can explain how i can mount my other partition (which is currently used for Ubuntu)
basically when i first installed it, the partition comes up in nautlius as Mass Storage Drive: 20.3 GB media and prompted for credentials. After a few unsuccessful attempts i was not able to mount the drive and the prompts for credentials no longer displays.
When i right click it and click mount or try to open it, nothing happens. Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks everyone for the help, i managed to get it working by editing the fstab
ill post up how i did it, in case anyone else wants to know:
    identify the partition:
(can use gparted or fdisk -l)
    identify uuid:
    sudo blkid
    edit fstab and add:
your partition as specified, you can use the existing mounted partitions as a guide to help
    hope this helps
Does anyone know how to mount the partitions via nautilus/gui?, or at least have it show up as a seperate file system (have the partition appear in the "places" bar?

  • Can't create symbolic link on a cifs mount (on a linux VM 14.10 Ubuntu)

I created a file share on an azure storage and mounted the share on a VM using:
    # mount –t cifs //ACCOUNT_NAME.file.core.windows.net/SHARE/mnt/DIRECTORY
    -o vers=2.1,username=ACCOUNT_NAME,password=ACCESS_KEY,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777
Everything works fine except I can't create symlinks inside the share! I get the following error:
    "Operation not supported"
cifs should support symlinks....I am using a VM with Ubuntu 14.10.Been researching this for 2 hours and no solution as of yet! All suggestions appreciated!

    Thanks Malar,
In my opinion, there is something wrong in the smb.conf file of the server. In order to support symbolic links, unix extensions must be disabled there. Also the sfu option needs to be enabled. I tried everything possible on the client (VM) end. The issue
    is clearly from the server

  • Iomega StorCenter 150d & GoogeDrive - Mount / Sync

    Hi guys,
I was wondering if I can connect my Iomega StorCenter 150d pro to my GoogleDrive for Backup and Filesharing.
I made some web research and there are other NAS managment software solutions offering to install a GoogleDrive - Application/Plugin to map/connect a GoogleDrive (in)to the NAS.
Is there anything for the Iomega StorCenter 150d ?
Thanks a lot for your tips in advance.
    Greetz, Hannes

I am not aware of anyway to link to Google drive. Also, the 150d is an end of life device so there will not be any new apps developed for it.

  • How to mount linux hd?

I just purchased a 2012 mac mini running osx 10.8.2.  I want to mount my old linux hard drive on it because this is where all of my data is stored.  Is this possible? if so how?

I'm trying it now, After plugging in I get this message:
"The distk you inserted was not readable by this computer."
    Followed by three options:
    -Initialize...
    -Ignore
    -Eject
    I try "Initialize..."
    The Disk Utility opens.
The disk in question is listed on the disk utility as:
500.11 GB Generic USB Disk Media
-SMART Status is "not supported" (whatever that means)
The disk has 2 "disks" below it, both are light grey, which I take it means something to the tune of "not mountable."
One is called "disk1s1" and contains 497.05 GB.  The other is called "Linux Swap."  This contains 3.05 GB.  Selecting either of this and clicing the "mount" button in the Disk Utility does nothing, they continue to list "Not Mounted" as their "Mount Point."
Is it possible to mount this Linux HD?
