Mountain Lion Server PHP Upgrade issue

I need to upgrade my Server PHP, since my web site needs PHP 5.4 or above to work.
I have followed the steps from previous discussion
Updated PHP to 5.4 following steps from here
Updated bash_profile, httpd.conf, and updated $PATH variables.
In terminal php version and php path points to correct version /usr/local/php5/
But phpinfo still points to php 5.3.
I was able make the update on my local machine running Mountain Lion. The issue occurs only on the Mountain Lion Server.
It there any other settings that needs to be done to udpate PHP path?

Thanks for the input. Did you have any issues with running MAMP on server? I was under the impression Server tools, (web, ftp, opendirectory, etc..) are tightly integrated to one another.
Installing MAMP on a server might be the next option. Did you remove Lion server completely or just the web server part?
I did test out MAMP on server. It seem to have some database issues and give a blank page when it has to connect with Database. Probably have to work on the db issues, if PHP update is impossible.

  • Why do I have to buy Mountain Lion and  Mountain Lion server to upgrade my Lion server?

    Hi !
I can't find any option in app store to direct buy OSX Mountain Lion Server to upgrade my Mini i7 Lion Server ?!? Just necessary purchased the Mountain Lion and BUY AGAIN OSX Server Packet $19, billing Twice ?!?!

You are looking at a radical change, 10.8 Server is not an "Upgrade", it's an application. The previous Apache is still at its old location but is unused xcept for some .conf files. The arrangement and configuration of 10.8 Server.app is a big change from 10.7 so plan on some relearning. You will buy the application Server.app which on first run installs components at /Library/Server/*. Most everything is now inside the Server.app package in the Applications folder including all scripts for Wiki pages and several Apple specific Apache modules. Apple is also replacing the messy *.conf flat text files with plist files so that is an improvement. In addition, Python script support is now built-in as well as WSGI for those running Python webapps.
Having said that, some parts have sharp edges so don't expect full operation for a few versions.

  • Performance issues home sharing with Apple TV2 from Mountain Lion Server

I have a Mac Mini which I have just upgraded to Mountain Lion Server from Snow Leopard Server.
I have noticed that the performance of Streaming a film using Home Sharing to an Apple TV2 has degraded compared to the Snow Leopard setup. In fact the film halts a number of times during play back which is not ideal.
I have tested the network between the 2 devices and cannot find a fault.
Has anyone come across this problem before.
Are there any diagnostic tools I can use to measure the home sharing streaming service to the AppleTV2 device.
    Any help much appreciated

Well, I tried a few other things and one worked but again just the first time I tried connecting to the desktop PC with iTunes. I flashed my router with the latest update and the ATV2 could see the iTunes library and I was able to play media. Later in the day I was going to show off to my daughter that I had fixed it and, to my dismay, no go. I tried opening the suggested ports but no luck.
I then tried loading iTunes on a Win7 laptop and it works perfectly with the ATV2. Both the laptop and the ATV2 are connected to the router wirelessly while the Desktop is connected to the router by Ethernet. Not sure if this is part of the issue as it sounds like this didn't work for others. The only other difference between the laptop and desktop is that the desktop has Win7 SP1 loaded while the laptop does not; now I'm scarred to load it though I don't think that's the issue. All in all, a very vexing situation. Hopefully Apple comes up with a solution soon.

  • Can't get Mountain Lion Server Server to upgrade properly - Configuring services

    Hi All,
First of all thanks for any answers or suggestions you might have. We are a small business with about 25 employees. We have been running Lion Server for email and collaboration without much issue. Today we decided to upgrade to Mountain Lion Server, which was a big mistake apparently. We downloaded and installed Mountain Lion which went fine. We then downloaded and installed the new Server app and that's where things got hairy.
The Server app got to the part where it says Configuring Services and just sat there spinning. After about an hour I figured something was up and noticed in the console that there were a bunch of errors trying to update certain things. Needless to say we had to force quit the Server app after a long while and nothing got updated/migrated. We were left with a non functional server. Luckily we had set up the Lion Server to clone to another drive and we were able to boot to that to get back to work.
None of us have much experience with command line, part of the reason we got Lion Server in the first place was it's ease of use and GUI. So has anyone else had similar issues? We are kind of at a loss as to where to go next. Thanks!

It is indeed an option to wait, although I did manage to upgrade four servers that all have working forward and reverse DNS from Lion Server to Mountain Lion 10.8.
After installing OS X Server on top of that server specific items like mailboxes returned

  • Running PHP within HTML in Mountain Lion Server

I just upgraded from Lion Server to Mountain Lion Server yesterday. Under Lion I had pages that had simple PHP instructions, primarily includes, that I could run without saving the pages with the PHP extension. My recollection is that I modified either the .htaccess file or the httpd.conf file to allow Apache to run PHP code embedded in HTML pages. I can't find an .htaccess file in ML Server, and modifying the code in httpd.conf doesn't seem to work.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Thomas Hart

The configuration files live in/Library/Server/Config/Apache2, and the primary configuration file ishttpd_server_app.conf not httpd.conf.
    Thanks for the info.
I think that path should be /Library/Server/Web/Config/Apache2

  • Server admin is unable to login to server.app after upgrade to Mountain Lion Server?

After upgrade to Mountain Lion Server I am unable to login to the server tools. When I input the admin user name and password the dialog box just shakes indicating the wrong password. But it is the correct password. How do I reset the password or if necessary how do I rest the server and start over on Mountain Lion. I found info on how to reset the server on previous versions of the server which involved executing a plist in the LaunchDaemon folder. However that file does not exist on the server following upgrade to Mountain Lion.
    Thanks, Howard

I upgraded today and had the same issue. I took following steps to fix my computer.
Boot into Recovery Partition (Hold Option Button while booting)
    Open Terminal.
    Type resetpassword
    Select your hard drive
    Select the user account (Administrator)
Enter a new password for the user
    Reenter password
    Save
    Restart
Boot normally, Login as Adminstrator with the new password and add "Admin" permission to your account.
    Restart
Everything should be working as expected

  • Upgrading to Mountain Lion server and all services breaks down...

    Hi!
I have, after endless hours of scanning logs and .plist and other files' content and permission settings found why Mountain Lion Server.app in some cases doesn't seem to be able to take control over all service, stating it can't read or write its own setting files etc.
As a Swede I of course run a system set in the Swedish language. Mountain Lion can't upgrade a Swedish system, only fore languages are accepted !!!
    See Migration Logs!
//Excerpt from the Mail Migration log:
Begin Mail Migration: Thu Aug  2 19:34:24 2012
    purge: 0
    sourceRoot: /Library/Server/Previous
    sourceType: System
    sourceVersion: 10.7.4
    targetRoot: /
    language: sv
Did not supply a valid language for the --language parameter, needs to be one of [en | fr | de | ja]
As you can see, it can only upgrade in English, French, German and Japanese system language. With no inital warnings the system crashes and causes a true mess half the way through its installation when you start Server.app.
    Solution:
Throw Server.app in the trash or move it outside the Application folder, to force the computer to realized "its not a server". It can take half a minute or so for the system to realize it is no longer a server. You will see a sign.
Change the language setting to English in your system preferences and restart your computer. Move back Server.app from the trash (or where you put it) and start Server.app, thereby initiating a new Servers installation. I was happy to find that all mail accounts etc was found again. I thought for several hours they where lost.
The various sites hosted by the server did however not appear in their correct new location (when I tryed this). I had to manually move them from the "Previous" folder in /Library/Server/Previous/Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/   to    /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/
I hope this helps anyone out there....
    Cheers!
    Stefan

Please explain.... when are you stoped from upgrading?
I haven't actually had problems with the actual OS upgrade it is when you launch Server.app the first time everything goes to f-n h....
Server.app should reconfigure and move around a lot of files and it does, but not succeeding doing it correctly. Many services can't read their config files and have them in two places. I trying to figure out which ones are being used. Somethime both locations are used but only parts of the settings in the files !?!?
    I am soon giving up...

  • VPN to Mountain Lion Server issues

    Hi,
I checked a lot of VPN threads here today, but I wasn't able to find a solution for my problem just now. I try to connect by VPN to my Mountain Lion Server, but I get an error message that the VPN server is not responding. I get this message from iPhone and Mac. The Mountain Lion Server is a new installation, no upgrade from an older server.
    Some informations on my setup:
I installed the server with a hostname like myserver.mycompany.com and option 3 (internet access), as I want to use it for email at a later stage. All services are working fine (except VPN). DNS is active, but basically it only contains the adress myserver.mycompany.com and forwards everything else to our router.
I changed the DNS settings of our domain ( hosted by an ISP - so not in the local DNS ! ). I created a subdomain vpn.mycompany.com which points to the static IP of our router.
In the router I opened the UDP ports 500, 1701 and 4500, and for 1701 i made the same thing for TCP (I found this in a forum, but I think this is not necessary?), the ports are pointing to the ip of the os x server.
In OS X Server I started VPN for L2TP using the vpn.mycompany.com hostname, and a shared secret.
When I try to connect with I client from outside I try to connect using L2TP via vpn.mycompany.com using the shared secred and user-id and password. The user-id is created in OS X Mountain Lion server and is configured to use VPN service. When trying to connect I get the error message "L2TP-VPN server is not repsonding...".
In the log file of the server I see some entries for each connect:
    Oct 10 20:21:45 myserver.mycompany.com racoon[13873]: Connecting.
    Oct 10 20:21:45 myserver.mycompany.com racoon[13873]: IPSec Phase1 started (Initiated by peer).

    Oct 10 20:22:06 myserver.mycompany.com racoon[13873]: IKE Packet: transmit success. (Phase1 Retransmit).
No more entries in log file now. Anyone any ideas what's going wrong. Might there be a problem as I use another servername outside as inside (vpn... instead of myserver...)?
    Thanks!

Solved, first of all we tested to establish the VPN connection locally by adding the ip address of the server to /etc/hosts for vpn.mycompany.com. The VPN connected without problems then, so it was clear that it is a firewall/router problem, and not a server problem.
After that we studied some more documentations and found that we don't have to open port 50, but ip protocoll 50 (ESP) on the firewall. After that was done, the connection was working from the internet as well.

  • Upgrade to Mac OS X Mountain Lion server

    Hi folks,
I just bought the OS X Lion server for $49.99 and installed it on my Macbook Pro.
However when I upgraded to Mountain Lion, it no longer works, that's obvious.
So my question is that will get a free upgrad to Mountain Lion server or I need to buy the it which now @ $19.99?
    Can anyone clarrify me?

Sorry but the Server that runs in 10.7 is incompatible with 10.8, it has an entirely different folder structure. If your Server purchase was recent you may want to ask about a free upgrade, but don't know what the procedure is. Good luck with that.

  • Mountain Lion Server upgrade; "error reading settings"

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion server and now ALL services have an "error reading settings".
For example; I select "websites" and I get the message "an error occured on the server while processing a command. teh error occured while processing a command of type 'getWebAppState' in plug-in 'servermgr_web' "
There are similar errors for every service. I can't turn anything on.
Server can't even read the Logs. it just sits there with "Loading..." displayed.
My web site is gone and even the Groups have been gutted.
I have a backup of my Web site but how to I clean this up so I can even start from scratch  !?!

I have the final solution and fix but beware you may not like it that much.
Having had all of the above problems with more or less everything I finally pieced it all together from various threads. This will fix both the AEBS control and the central services problems.  Dont shout at me for being a bit basic and not coding etc. but it worked for me.  If I can avoid code I do as often as possible as am less likely to balls it up!
This method will loose some data but the main files and users do remain
    The Fix:
    1. Close Server.app
    2. Library/Server  make a copy of Server file under a diff name as software server files and a few others would appear to still be usable and you will have to re download it all again of you dont copy it back in ( I didn't and now have learned my lesson). then delete the whole of the Server file.
    3. Go to Keychain and search all Airport then delete associated keys permissions etc
    4. Delete Server.app and reinstall.
    5. Start new setup and it will migrate properly with no errors. This time a big green tick will appear!
    6. Replace the software update files into the new Library/Server folder if you want to or leave it untill the rest is done
7 Reconfigure any missing bits..... any enrolled devices will have vanished but probably if you have  saved the data from this in Library/Server prior to deletion you may be able to reinstate this but I didnt risk it
This is going to be a total pain if in a large organisation but once working the system is excellent with no swapping from one control set to the other.  As each service is switched on it auto configures the AEBS and no further errors and a joy to work with unless you really like to get into the nuts and bolts.
Hope this helps and good luck

Apples tutorial on how to upgrade from 10.6 server to mountain lion server, seems very straightforward, is that the case? Im about ready to upgrade, it would be good to get an opinion of someone thats done it.

Mtn Lion not due out until the Summer, so no, you will not get a free upgrade.

  • I am running Mountain Lion Server, and the App Store indicates an upgrade to Server.App version 2.2.5. When I try to upgrade it will not install. Is that because OSX8 is no longer supported; and if so, is there an alternate source for this upgrade if

Mountain Lion Server.app no longer supported?

Probably  a long shot, but try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

  • Error configuring services from Snow Leopard Server to Mountain Lion Server

I am trying to upgrade a Snow Leopard Server Mac Mini to Mountain Lion Server.
We have two Mac Mini servers at our office (production and backup) so I migrated the everything from our production server to the backup using the migration assistant when setting up the backup computer.
I now have the backup at home trying to upgrade it to Mountain Lion Server.  I have downloaded and installed Mountain Lion as well as the Server App version 2.2.  I basically followed the simple directions found in the Apple documentation.
I started the server app and it got to the part where it said "Upgrading services".  After running for a few minutes, I get a window that states "An error occurred while configuring your server."  It also sayd "The following actions failed or were not attempted:" with a red dot next to "Upgrading services".  The other three items:  "Authenticating to local directory", "Reading directory configuration" and "Authenticating to local directory services" have gray dots so I'm sure they were not even attempted.
Our Snow Leopard server is setup for SMB file sharing, LDAP services, FTP, Web, DNS, DHCP.
Can someone point me to where I can figure out what exactly is failing?  Are there specific log files I need to look into?
    Thanks

Have EXACTLY the same issue - also tried reinstalling mountain lion server fresh and still had the same problem...
