Mouse over a hyperLink

How can I disable the Mouse over tool tip of a HyperLink in a VB web application;
which is displayed at the bottom left corner of the page

As your question appears to have nothing to do with setup of the .NET Framework (this forum's topic), and is about VB web applications, I recommend that you ask here:

  • When I mouse over a hyperlink on a page in 4.0, I can no longer view the URL address in a narrow horizontal bar at the bottom of the page, nor view the "load progress" of the URL when I click on it ... which I could formerly see in the same narrow bar.

    In Firefox 3.6 and previous, I could always view the URL of an embedded hyperlink by mousing over the link and checking a narrow horizontal field at the bottom of the web page. When clicked on, that hyperlink would begin loading the desired page, and I could watch as Firefox logged on to the remote server ... at least to the extent of knowing that the server had been contacted and that the page was loading. It's like "flying blind" now -- I can't view either of those things.

    Firefox 4.0b7 eliminated the Status bar, it is replaced by the Add-on bar. When you mouse-over a hyperlink, the URL appears in the Location bar to the right of the current URL in slightly faint type. The page loading indicator is on the left side of the Tab, but it doesn't show the progress as before, only that the page is loading (or not).
    You can restore the functions of the old Statusbar with the '''Status4Evar''' extension. The three Statusbar items are in the Customize Palette. <br />

  • Hand cursor not displayed when mouse is over JEditorPane hyperlinks in 1.5

    Java version 1.5 does not show a hand cursor when the user mouses over a hyperlink within a JEditorPane, which it did in version 1.4.x.
    Create a new JEditorPane. Then set the content type (setContentType) as "text/html". Then use setText to add an html hyperlink. When the user mouses over the hyperlink, the cursor remains a pointer cursor. The cursor used to change into a hand cursor symbolizing a hyperlink.
    p.s.) The hyperlink still works, the cursor just doesn't change.
    Has anyone noticed this? Has it been reported as a bug? Is there a workaround?
    Thanks for any/all help!

    I have the same problem which I cannot seem to solve. I have a JEditorPane in a JDialog, not a JFrame, and I do not get a Hand cursor over the link. If I use a JFrame, I get the hand cursor.
    Any ideas? I tried with setting the cursor by hand using
    pane.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.HAND_CURSOR)); in the ENTERED-part of a slightly more advanced hyperlink listener (gets pane in constructor). But that did not help either.
    Here is the code. Check out the difference between JDialog and JFrame.
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.border.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.event.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class HyperLink extends JDialog
         public static void main(String[] args)
              HyperLink h = new HyperLink();
              h.setVisible(true);
         public HyperLink()
              Container cp = getContentPane();
              JEditorPane p = new JEditorPane("text/html",
                                  "<html><body><a href='http://www.google.com'>Google</a></body></html>");
              p.addHyperlinkListener(new HyperlinkListener() {
                   public void hyperlinkUpdate(final HyperlinkEvent he) {
                       HyperlinkEvent.EventType type = he.getEventType();
                       if (type == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.ENTERED) {
                        System.err.println("entered");
                       else if (type == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.EXITED) {
                        System.err.println("Exited");
                       else if (type == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.ACTIVATED) {
                        System.err.println("Now going to " + he.getURL());
              p.setEditable(false);
              cp.add( p );
              pack();
    }

  • In WebHelp, when I mouse over a link, the font size changes.

    Either after I generate to WebHelp or View in RoboHelp, when I mouse over a hyperlink text, the font changes from large to small text. My step is a 11pt font, my body text is 10pt. It appears the 11 pt. font switches to 10pt font when I mouse over it. Any way to fix this?
    Also noticed that when I have a note at 9 pt, and mouse over a link, the text changes to 10pt.
    So now it appears in most of my topics with links within a step or note. In a body, the text appears fine (or stays the same) when you mouse over a link.

    Not believing that either.
    You should be able to edit your CSS in a text editor. If you are not sure what to do, set up a simple project using your CSS. Any text will do and create a link.

  • Anyone know how to make an image appear during mouse over of a hyperlink?

    I have a list of hyperlinks here: http://web.mac.com/phelpssculpture/Site/movieroyal_davidphelps.html
    I would like a small image associated with each link to appear close to the link during mouse over.
    These links are the titles of individual artwork, but that isn't as meaningful as it would be if an image could appear upon mouse over. I tried doing an image of text swap with an image of the piece during mouse over, but that took up too much space on the page.
    Thanks, David

    You could use a tooltip. Here's one....

  • Creating an interactive CV: mouse over / roll over pop ups, embedded documents and videos

    Hi everyone,
    I am pretty new to Adobe Acrobat Pro and new to this forum (1st post here!). Greetings from Spain... and apologies for grammar mistakes and misleading explanations (in advance). I have been checking this forum and googling quite a bit, but I do not get to many conclusions (maybe I sleep few due to our baby!).
    I want to create an interactive CV with the following characteristics:
    1) CV in 1 page in a PDF document (no problem here!)
    2) Hyperlinks in the text which open embedded files (pdf of others) hidden to the viewer but which are in the pdf document. Possible? (I want the recruiter to receive just one file). Even better if they could be open in another window (doubt it).
              How could it be done? I try add documents and they are attached at the end, so the original pdf gets to have more pages, all viewable.
    3) Furthermore, mouse over / roll over pop ups which show you a preview of the file you may open clicking the hyperlink, for a quick view of the content.
              I think that this may be done, but using other programs, like InDesign. I just try to add a document, but it's sort of a link to a document in my computer. I may add pdf, pps files.
    4) Even more, would it be possible to embed a video which would open in a new window? If not, I tried to add a link to youtube and there was a warning as "this program tries to open a window, if you trust the owner... " (similar safety message) and the very last thing I want the recruiter to have to decide whether to decide to watch it or not.
    I know its a questions in its very first stages, but the big point is to know if/what it is possible to do, so that I search in the right direction.
    If you have any idea or advice (even if not related to PDF pro, of course), just please let me know.
    Thanks a lot in advance. I hope this thread may help others.
    Cheers,
    tebanseeker

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks a lot for the input.
    (3) Right, I could not find either a way using just Acrobat Pro (I'm using XI). Sad thing that you confirm it... But it looks like you may do it using other programs on the PDF, but I don't know to use them. You may take a look at this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEyJuT8SSME (popup rollovers using Illustrator)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOVRMVdZbVE (popup rollovers using InDesign)
    (4) I think that embedding would make the file to big, so I may opt for the hyperlink to youtube option, even if I deeply dislike that message, although youtube is a reliable source for the viewer.
    Any other input is very welcome. I am pretty illiterate in the field!
    Have a nice weekend,

  • Mouse over vs On click: ISSUE

    Hello,
    I hope someone can help me.
    I have a image (refers to ImageA.jpg) which Im using as a
    hyperlink to a specific page in the mainframe target.
    I have successfully created a working image swap on reaction
    of OnMouseOver (refers to ImageB.jpg). For this same image
    (ImageA.jpg), I have also successfully created a different image
    swap on the reaction of an 'on click' (refers to ImageC.jpg). I
    have selected 'Restore images OnMouseOut'.
    So the mouseover image swap works fine (to ImageB.jpg), the
    onclick image swap also works fine (to ImageC.jpg),
    But now when I have clicked on ImageA.jpg (it shows
    ImageC.jpg), but when I leave the image area, it turns back to
    ImageA.jpg again. But it has to stay ImageC.jpg, untill I click on
    a different link. (I have 5 of these same links in my website).
    How can I solve this?
    Ciao,
    Chiel

    oYu shouldn't need to use the hotspot tool, all you should
    need to do is to select the image and add a link to it via the
    Property inspector.

  • Applying mouse over behavior to an image

    In DW CS4, I want the user to be able to mouse over an image, at which point a list of hyperlinks will show. When I select onMouseOver and Show-Hide Elements for the image, the behavior automatically jumps to onClick. If I put the image into a div tag and do the same thing, the behavior automatically jumps to onFocus. Oh, and I also put the hyperlinked list in a div tag.
    Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks.

    This works best with an onClick trigger.

  • TextEvent.LINK - is there a way to determine mouse over?

    I'm using the following code in an app, but what I'd like to know is if there's a way to determine if a user mouses over the link. I would like to display a custom tooltip I've made when the user is mousing over a link, I've been looking for code that will accomplish this, i.e.:
    myText.addEventListener(TextEvent.MOUSE_OVER, doAFunction); - but I'm not able to find anything associated with mousing over a text link, aside from using a stylesheet.
    On the mousing over of a link, I want to determine if the event == httplink, a custom event I've created. If anyone could shed some light on how to accomplish this, I would be much obidged.
    ~Chipleh
    myText.addEventListener(TextEvent.LINK, httpLinkHandler);
    function httpLinkHandler(evt3:TextEvent):void
    var linkStr:String = evt3.text;
    trace("linkStr = " + linkStr);
    var event2:String =  evt3.text.substr(0,8)
    if(event2 == "httplink")
      var str:String = linkStr;
      var linkHandlerArray:Array = str.split("&");
      var theLink:String = linkHandlerArray[1];
       trace("theLink = " + theLink);
      var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest(theLink);
      navigateToURL(url, "_blank");

    There is no direct way in AS3. However you can do this: when you roll over the TextField get the character index using getCharIndexAtPoint() method. Once you have that you can use it to examine if the mouse is over the hyperlink. There are several ways to do this but I think the easiest is to check the text formatting using getTextFormat() method - assuming you have specific format for hyperlinks (like different colour or underscore.)

  • Mouse cursor ignores hyperlink

    Hello:
    1st time poster.
    Computer:
      Toshiba Satelite: P105
      MS XP Media Center Edition
      Version 2002
      Service Pack 3
       T5500 @ 1.66 GHz
       1.67 GHz, 0.99 GB of Ram
     I've had this thing for +/- 2 years, provided excellent service.
    Problem:  Several months ago, started doing what subject describes... cursor will not indicate it's over a hyperlink, nor will it respond when cursor is over a hyperlink.  This behavior begins after indeed clicking 1 or more hyperlinks w/in a given page... then, no response as described.
    If I move mouse cursor outside of browser, click anything else (eg: desktop icon, start menu etc.) then go back to same web page, it will correctly show a hyperlink cursor for 1 or more clicks, then resume ignoring them as described.
    Very annoying.  Any help appreciatted.

    What about links in other applications (e.g., other browsers, email programs, word processors)?
    I didn't check any windows other than IE/FireFox... both of which exhibit same behavior.  I'll ask him to check & let me know.
    Thanks again for attention.
    FWIW, I've been writing code for MS OS(s) for 18+ yrs... never seen this one before (that's why it caught my interest).  I'm a little stumped. The code handling mouse action, although written for each individual program, relies on OS services almost entirely.  The OS messaging is the same for all those windows, whether a browser or resident EXE.  And playing with it this morning, the behavior is more
    consistent then he (Tobi) indicated:
     - Hyperlink works only once w/in browser window, then ignores hyperlinks.   As 1st mentioned, a click anywhere outside affected window will restore function for -1- click.
     - Same for scroll bar, min/maximze/close buttons, and any buttons I tried w/in several different web pages.  Again w/buttons, same a above: -1- click & it's DOA.

  • Open window background moves when mousing-over

    I'm sure this may have been answered before but my search found nothing.
    When using a programme such as Numbers, when I hover the cursor over a cell, the spreadsheet behind the cursor shifts, often hiding the cell column behind the grey edge as though I've scrolled the spreadsheet.
    I use a Magic Mouse and have ensured that I'm not sliding my finger over the glass.
    Is this a common siuation?
    Please, please, is there a fix? It's driving me mad!...

    While navigating this site the same thing happens.
    I move the cursor over a hyperlink and the hyperlink moves away. (The whole pane moves).
    The white portion of this site moves from side to side, usually but not always, returning to it's previous position.

  • Mouse Over Effect

    Here is what I want to do in Keynote '08:
    I want to make an object appear when the mouse cursor goes over/near it. I think it's called a "mouse over" effect.
    To help illustrate:
    1. I want my Keynote slides as uncluttered as possible and,
    2. I want to start a choice of other slides or effects. Mouse over allows me to hide these in plain sight, so to speak, until I mouse over one of the triggers.
    How do I do this? Thanks, JLG [email [email protected] if I'm not clear above.]

    Welcome to the forums!
    Mouseover effects are not available in Keynote. You can have transparent (and therefore invisible) buttons with hyperlinks, but Keynote will only take action on a click, not a cursor hover.

  • Mouse over text color change

  • AS3 infinite scroll mouse over link

    i am create AS3 infinite scroll bar. i want to put mouseover  hyperlink to every picture. any body know how can put mouse over.
    please help me

    Do you know how to assign event listeners and event handler functions for them?  If so, you assign the listener to the object you want to rollover, using either MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER or MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER as the event.
